I’m grinding for mule deer and am starting to struggle, deer are being extra slow to their zones and it kinda feels like my HM isn’t working as well. I believe each flock has a range they stay in with multiple flocks overlapping in different areas, it’s part of why some areas are better to set with decoys than others

You decoy in the center of their habitat, good chance you pull in a majority of the birds in that area

Most species with any duck species have hotspots

Some like Revontuli have species hotspots that overlap so you can make a multi species setup like I have for Ferri Ducks, Goldeneyes, and Gadwall in Salwiesen

I am collecting them, pretty sure I have all the drink zones and occasionally check the lakes I don't have them at, just in case. I have given plenty of time for respawns.

I've killed multiple hundreds so far and haven't seen but a single level 5 which seems very odd as well.

and they should be repawning normaly maybe just go to the main menu and head back in after each run

I did end up grabbing the pop scanner out of frustration (I know it's frowned upon) and have had some 35+ stuck in respawn limbo. I have stopped herd managing with my shots to try to figure out how to get them all to spawn back in. They aren't ALL getting stuck, like I will shoot 5 of them but only 3 come back. I haven't had issues with wolves respawning but haven't shot a lot of other species on the map either.

So the population scanner isn't quite a mod, it's a 3rd party app that looks at the files and doesn't edit them, which makes me feel less uncertain about using it to investigate this issue. I do like finding surprises so I don't intend to use it further than this.

They have responded to check the integrety of the files and that they will internally investigate this to see if it can be replicated or not and release notes about it from there. I go on lunch within the next hour and can do so then and share what I've found.

@tribal ledge All my files have been successfully validated! Support did suggest hunting something else for a bit as well, so I might try that before dead zoning some lakes as suggested elsewhere. But they also mentioned that per a recent update, respawns won't come back instantly when reloading the reserve, so I hope they didn't misinterpret the issue. They closed the ticket immediately so I can only assume they will be testing out respawns on Mule Deer regardless of my personal outcome.

Just poppin in here to say that pop scanner stuff isn’t always accurate, especially for the new map. The animals in “limbo” can already be respawned on the map. My buddy had like 100+ the other day that hasn’t respawned even though they had. Likely your wolves might be respawning elsewhere on the map. Ya might try shooting some other species and/or going to explore for more wolves.

Yeah, for all solos and exteriors make sure they’re sub 140. Get the solos down in size for sure. Ya don’t want those losers jumpin around all willy nilly while you’re tryna shoot. If you have a couple big solos that’ll definitely affect your HM.

Yeah solos will always bounce around, sometimes they respawn where you shot them and sometimes they move. Usually itll still be in the general vicinity.

Skills-

Stalker- Get the necessities that make it significantly easier to hunt. These would be Locate tracks, Only happy when it rains, track knowledge, soft feet, improvised blind, innate triangulation, endurance, and disturbed vegetation.

Ambusher- Again, the necessities. A lot of the skills in the ambusher tree are straight useless like Hill caller or Tag. Just work to get Spotting knowledge, sight spotting, and fatal attraction. Only put one point into scent tinkerer, dazed and confused, and fatal attraction to be able to spend all your points the best way.

Perks.

Rifles- Max out everything except windage. You can get Focused shot if you use iron sights a lot but you won't have a point to spend some where else. Remember to activate zeroing.

Handguns- Spend one point in everything except Survival Instinct and Quick draw, since these two are useless. Max out lightning hands.

Shotguns- Spend one point in Both eyes open and Body control. Max out Fast shouldering and Recoil management. The other two perks have no use since you'll have zeroing activated instead.

Archery- Don't spend anything here. Everything is just about useless. I've had great success with bows without any of these perks.

The animals started to arrive, but at about 100 meters away, they were already alarmed or scared and didn't come to drink water. We were sitting still in the blind without doing anything, but they didn't come closer.
Does anyone know if there is a particular reason for this? We didn't have dogs with us, nor were we carrying backpacks. Thank you.

From what I understand, they don't go close? What I've noticed is that they can be within a 50m or 75m radius of the need zone. Before doing your setup, look from which direction they arrive. You can also try a tree stand.

Yes, I use herd management and also save my dead fallow deer. I already had G1 on my old account, but it's impossible that it lasts so long... I thought maybe the grind could be messed up, since I always got my G1 under 2000 kills.

Nah you’re good, it’s genuinely all rng. For instance I’ve only had 2 of my 9 grinds go over 1000 kills put people get 4, 5, even 10k grinds
