I use tracks in three ways:

1- They help me figure out which direction an animal is coming from when I set up near a food or water source. This helps me plan my approach.

2- When the tracks disappear from your normal vision and you can't see them anymore, it means it's nighttime. This can be useful if you're in a blind and can't get up, and you're waiting for nightfall. When the tracks become invisible, you know it's dark.

3- Finally, they're used to track an animal if you haven't hit a vital organ. If you don't have a tracking dog, you can follow the tracks for 600-700 meters.

guys im thinking about starting a great one mule grind on askiy ridge, but i unsure about how the "shooting down" part of a great one grind works. Do i need to do the switch method to make sure that the deer above tier 2 (140 trophy) get onto my main lakes? or can i just shoot down the higher level dears without having to do the switch method?

by "the switch method" im referring to the method where wait 20 minutes to ensure no respawns. kill the deer on the exterior lake, don't pick it up. go to your main lake and shoot a low tier dear and then exit and enter back in through the menu.

this whole system seems a little complicated, is there a simpler method i can do to spawn a great one?

The game wants to keep the 'average score' of an animal at a certain amount. This is usually a bell curve (few small, most medium, few large). However, if you shoot all the mediums, you push the score to the extremes (more small, fewer medium, more large). There's a lot of rng noise in there too, but that's the general idea.

Well, my top 3 map recommendations would be Askiy, Revontuli, and Sundarpatan - but Sundar isn't a good beginner map, and Askiy is noticeably better than Rev for graphics and sounds, but they're about the same for animals

ill try explain it as simple as possible:
Hm is a technique used to alter your respawns to be Bigger for go Grinding
To get the best Herd management (HM) possible you Will Stack as many diamonds as you can in your Shooting zones (Mains).
With them diamonds being stacked, the game pushes smaller respawns elsewhere (exteriors).
depending on what species it is, you shoot all your exteriors down to a certain level , weight , or score estimate.
after you complete shooting down your exteriors, the game will therefore now push bigger respawns than usual into your shooting zones (mains)
Therefore leading to more chances of diamonds/ Super rares

I have all the dogs; I love them all.
It mostly depends on your hunting style. Each dog has its use. Once I finished training the Bloodhound, it was possible to train it for a secondary task (Pointer or Retriever). That's very practical, so my Bloodhound is now a tracker and a pointer.
As a first dog, you'd be better off with the Bloodhound to more easily find your kills, especially when you're starting out in the game.

A feature that's sorely missing from the game is the ability to place and name more than just a single marker.

To place a marker while you're on the map, either double-click or right-click and choose 'Place a Marker.' You can only have one at a time.
To place a marker in the game, you can also use your binoculars. Just press "R" while looking through them.

You can place and remove the marker the same way. This is a very useful way to mark an animal's location, as you'll be able to see its position and distance even if you lose sight of it.

In the talents section, there are several choices you can make for the radar, like a narrower width, the range of olfactory lures, etc.

The only thing I see is that you might be out of range. The binoculars cannot lock on if you are too far away, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think their range is 400m or 500m?. For the rifle scope, you have to activate the talent. It is the same for the Brightsight with telemetry on the bows; if you are too far, it cannot lock on.

• were you in a stand
• weapon choice
  • gun or bow

if in a stand, hunting pressure (HP) is reduced greatly.
if you're just on the ground and use a gun - mid pressure instantly iirc
if you're on the ground using a bow - low pressure
if you're in a stand and using a bow - like almost none pressure

they usually spawn below the red line, ive marked my favorite go-to lakes (the ones with a red dot above them) that i always check when joining someone else's server, but as i said they drink at all bodies of water between 04 and 07. The pink line is because i like going along the river at times just to check if there are any drinkers.

also i recommend setting the time to like 5 so that the sun is out haha

but as i said, they could spawn anywhere below that line so check all the spots

Yeah they drink all along the river, but if you're on your own map try to switch spots. Each tiger (there are only 16) has only 1 drinking zone so i say go to all the lakes. Tigers only switch zones when they are killed, so if you aren't finding tigers at that specific spot thats because you killed it and it moved to some lake or another part of the river

What animal should i focus

Take a weapon that covers the animal's class, but I suggest, for example: if your game is a Class 2 (fox), take a weapon that covers Classes 2-6. Your weapon will have the correct class for the harvest, but it will be plenty powerful for a Class 2. I don't know if that makes sense.
For the best weapon, you will have to try them; it's more of a personal choice.
You absolutely must master the zeroing setting; check the skills for the third 300m zeroing point. Always aim for the heart.

Of course, if your weapon isn't powerful enough and if you aren't physically at the same distance as your zeroing point, you'll have to calculate where the bullet will go. That makes it harder, though a 5m difference, more or less, doesn't change much for vital organs but for the heart it makes a difference. And at 150m you have to be very stable, no obstacles, the more distance you put between you and the game, less impact the bullet has, at 75m with your scope all zoom in (No zoom) you'll have a very clear view of the animal and it will be very stable and have a good impact.
You have two target choices:
The broadside view of the animal, which allows you to hit the vital organs—especially the lungs—from different angles.
For the heart, I prefer being head-on, aiming for the heart between the two front legs.
Also, I assume you hold your breath to stabilize yourself before shooting?
