you get skill points by leveling up from killing things and or discovering poi's etc

also there is no single correct weapon to use

The Ranger 243 you start with is very solid; plenty good for raising rifle skill and getting a hang of things

And the starting ammo is free so you can save up some cash at the beginning

yeah, branching out to a shotgun, handgun, or bow is probably the most sensible so you can start putting skill points into a second weapon type as well

once you encounter issues like you wanna kill larger game then what you have the guns for or smaller game or need a higher magnification scope etc you can invest in those

if your weapon is zeroed to 75 meters it'll hit dead centre at 75 meters, but if you're shooting 100 meters you will have to account for drop, if it's zeroed to 150 meters you'll hit dead centre at 150 meters but have to account for drop if you shoot 200 meters etc

laytons a pretty good wt map its just really brushy and hard to see, place your tents about 250yd or a bit more away because i find they spook any less than 250 and your tripods id put it like 20 yd away from your tents or wherever you feel comfortable having it

but personally having your tents/tripods above 300 out is good too so you can show multiple out of the herd without them spooking

I just shoot anything i see, make sure to also not rush shots and try to kill the animal as quickly as possible. Just hit up lakes and hotspots you find a bunch of animals and shoot everything. If you see like a herd of deer or moose, shoot like 1 or 2 not all of them because you will definitely mess up your shots which will make you have to track the animal far.
