Quick question, I'm doing a moose grind on medved right now and for some reason when I go to a bunch of my zones the moose aren't there at all? Sometimes for a few rotations and then they are randomly there again. I'm definitely not going before the respawn timer is up. It's been happening to a lot of my lakes randomly. Just wondering if anyone knows why that's happening

So I got a question, I am new to the herd managing and the great one grind and it doesn't seem to work out that well.
Every time I have a good herd with 6's or 7's and grind it for a bit I only have level 1 or 2 females left.

if all your externals zones are shot to low levels then your main herds will stop spawning low levels

and if you do you can shoot the low level males on your main zones

Why is there so many fake geese and no real ones. In rev coast there’s almost none and u get so many geese to come in but on the new map with just birds they are all fake and barely any real ever

you have to be either using lures or find them at their zones to encounter them on the ground

also I'm pretty sure the fake geese can get turned between real geese/fake geese cos I've had fake geese sometimes do fleeing calls eventhough they're "fake" and I'm pretty sure sometimes I've had the fake geese turn into a real herd to fly down as well as spooked needing herds that flee get turned into fakes once they get far enough away

but there is also alot of real geese that do spawn when you're luring in the area too

though I do notice that proportionally rev does have alot of environmental birds that just fly over

you can tell since they're usually rendered at like 10fps and can't be spotted no matter your magnification

Are pointers good for hunting anything beyond small game? I'm creating an expert bloodhound and can't seem to find anything on what pointers actually do.

pointers are barely even useful for small game

they can force spook them but their search radius is like 20 meters for small game

also for large game they can be useful since their search radius is like 200-300 meters asuming yorue not hunting a predator

but pretty much the way they work is you command it to either search small (class 1) medium (class 2-5) or large (class 6-9 and it can't point predators)
small point he usually sticks within like 50 meters or so and will find any trails nearby and follow them in a small radius around you and/or when he gets close to a bird or rabbit will go into sneak mode and approach slowly then "point" at the animal and bark when he's within 10 meters, you also then get the prompt to have him "flush" out the animal and cause it to fly

medium pointing is within a radius of about 50 meters and he'll also track animal trails and then slowly sneak up and point at the animal and bark but you don't have the flush command and he will just point at it

large pointing he runs around within a 200-300 meter radius and will smell trails and follow them up and then he doesn't have to sneak and can just quickly run up to the animal and will "point" at it and bark

he also puts any animals he's pointing at into alert mode and causes then to stop their need/drink zone etc

also you can kinda control the direction he will I usually run in by looking the certain direction but it's very hit or miss on if he'll actually go in that direction

Birds mostly quail, upland game Birds that mostly stay on the ground but they could maybe hunt other animals I've never tried

also if the pointer tries to run out of the 50 meters radius for small/medium point he will sit and "wait" for you to get closer

also if you spot an animal you can tell him to point at it where he will run up to 400 or so meters and point at it

he's kinda useless for medium game tbh but some people say they have success and he can explore further then 50 or so meters but mine is a bit dumb

he can come in clutch if you're tryna chain hunt locations or are on the opposite side of a ridge but he's very hit and miss and needs better ai/buffs in some aspects

sometimes he will just be useless

I find he works best though for large animals like red deer/rusa species/moose as the radius is much larger

if you are ontop of a trail as well you can command him to point for whatever class it is (eg large, small etc) and he can lock onto the trail and follow it too if you can't be bothered having him find one himself

and once you get his traits leveled up he can point to specific species if you interact with their trail

No worries at all. Fwiw some other species (like foxes, and northern muntjac) seem to act similarly, in that they tend to spawn as male female pairs, and the males dont want to respawn without harvesting the female

find out what time their drink times are and then search lakes for herds that are drinking

drink zones are the easiest ways to find animals since all the water is marked on the map and they're usually completely open to atleast one direction and in general very exposed (asuming the animal has drink zones

also incase you don't know where exactly to place your shots here's some diagram

the lungs are the easiest shot when youre broadside (which you should be to allow for the largest vital area+least penetration needed) and you generally want to identify where the leg/shoulder bone is and either aim behind where the chevron is or your want to follow the direction of the leg further up into the body to hit the lungs

a troll is an animal that's max difficulty and doesn't bit diamond (eg a 9 legendary bear)

you can use soft points but I would only take them if I know the gun is capable enough for the class I'm shooting and I'm only taking broad sides under 200 meters but even then usually a 1 lung soft point will drop a similar time or slower then 2 lung polymer
