Don't shoot the does, ever, and don't shoot all the bucks. When nothing respawns, it's almost always because you have a few big bucks in exterior zones - go find them and your respawns will start up again

Distance has nothing to do with it. Look at it this way...you find deer at dozens of zones on your map, you've seen this. But a few of them are amazing with nice big bucks and large herds. All the crappy zones with small bucks and small herds are your exterior or secondary zones. The amazing ones are your main or primary zones.

so... i have a "herd" that had 2 small bucks. i killed the 2 and left the 1. it also has 3 does. another herd has 2 bucks, one is for sure a gold and another had a nice rack, dont really remember though and had some does.

Stop trying to define them as main and exterior. Shoot all your zones over and over. Some zones will respawn big bucks, and some will never get them any bigger. Keep doing it until you know where your best zones are, then focus on them. But, every once in a while go check those crappy zones, because eventually a couple big bucks will bounce out there.

When your best zones stop getting respawns, check those crappy zones, you'll find a couple big ones. Pop them, then you best zones will turn back on.

A level 1 can spawn into a 9 and vice versa, all males respawn as lower/same/higher level males and same with females

hmmm if u ask me, i'd say its possible, but its very unlikely. because the game always trys to hold a balance between small/middle and high lvl animals of a class. thats why we do HM or HM with stacking. its because we manipulate the system in a legal gameplay way. so if u already have some high lvl jackals on your map, its chance goes nearly impossible.

i cant say that from here, because i dont know your whole population of jackals. what i can say is, that usually 5-8 are the "middle" ones i told above, so if u have a lot of them, i'd say its kinda bad. what i would do is, shoot them from top -> down, so go around and start shooting lvl 8 and 7 first (especially those who have potential max weight) if there are not much, add some lvl 6 with high estimates, that should spawn a lvl 9 pretty soon and if u wanna stack them for potential SR u keep shooting 8-5 now, then u will spawn a 2nd one soon (because u are starting to manipulate the system, u leave small and get big ones by taking out all the middles - the game trys to balance the population now by spawning u more big ones.)

*sorry i forgot, if u shoot only 8-5 ones it can spawn u big ones OR small ones, which obviously makes it faster to get your lvl 9

i would'nt EVER touch lvl 4 and lower if u are on a species that is up to lvl 9

Yeah I've found it to be a great first grind so far. They are predators so you don't have to worry about hunting pressure, and they are solos so you don't have to worry about leaving males in zones. The only mildly irritating thing I've found is jumpers which you'll have with any grind, and the cougars scaring away my zones

Hello, I'm new in the game and I want to know what are the best dlc to get first (bellow 20€)

I asked this on the reddit. And honestly I kinda want a dev to confirm this. But is there more to ammo than expansion and penetration? How come a 30-06 with 45 penetration and 13 expansion shoots classes 4-8 while a .300 with 42 pen and 14 expansion shoots 7-9. For this to make sense there's gotta be some kind of stat we're not seeing.

If it's based on IRL ammunition there are a ton of factors. Caliber (diameter), bullet weight, bullet design (which they have included, for example, ballistic tip, soft tip, full metal jacket etc), powder charge (how much propellant aka gunpowder is in the round), and muzzle velocity which is how fast the bullet leaves the barrel of the gun. I'm sure they took a lot of that into account when designing but of course can't confirm.

If we are looking at just basic info the .300 mag is a larger diameter bullet so of course is going to do slightly more damage than a 30-06 regardless of its penetration/expansion.

I understand that that's how it works IRL but I'm talking about how it works in game. I doubt the developers actually simulate bullets to that level. Especially given how bullets in this game seem to be 100% accurate.

It makes sense that .300 is more lethal than 30-06. But what in game values is this based on? Is there some kind of "damage" number hidden under the hood? And if so, why is this hidden? (I have trouble thinking for a reason for this since it would only lead to confusion if left out).

I'd get some 2 or 3 maps your like

Weapon pack 1 so you get .22 for class 1

And depending on what maps you buy some weapon packs

If you buy for example Te Awaroa you get for free .303 which is really good rifle for classes 4-8

And if you buy Yukon you get .300 for big game (classes 7-9)

If you wanna have some fun I'd recommend Assorted Sidearms, Smoking Barrels and weapons packs 2 and 3

DLC I recommend if you have no DLC at all is:

1. Any reserve you think looks cool
2. Revontuli coast since it gives you a tonnes of stuff you need for bird hunting
3. Yukon Valley because it gives a good 7-9 rifle
4. The power pack has 3 really good weapons. 2 of them will get out classed by weapons in other DLCs, but if you don't own those then that's obviously not a problem.
5. Scopes and crosshairs since that skips the grind for good scope
6. Ambusher pack since that kinda helps skip the grind for callers

Obviously dedicated weapon DLCs are better than reserve DLCs for weapons. But since reserves do give weapons in addition to the primary content of the game they're the best bang for your buck.

tbh best advice is take the basic weapons you start with and REALLY get a feel for the shooting mechanics and how handling them goes before trying to buy "best of the best" weapons

I feel like skipping the basics sets you up for disappointment and a Violet Beauregarde mentality.

There is a thing that helps spawn higher levels consistently but that's really a grinding thing, but you can certainly do it without grinding, basically if you leave the low level animals on the map, the game will likely spawn higher level and higher scoring animals at a higher rate

Lvl 9 = leave 4s and below alive
Lvl 5 = 2s and 1s
Lvl 3 = 1

Shoot anything above, I'd only shoot the lower levels if they're rare

tigers are too high level for the pointer to track

thats for leopards

you can only track predetors class 5 and below aka "medium" spotting

if your pointer tried to 1v1 a tiger it would probabaly get mauled

the only rifle that has a class 4-9 rating is the 7mm which you can either use the single shot base game ones or the hunter power bolt action malmer 7mm

or the .454/45 70 pistol or 10 gauge shotguns

also how do you have that many zones? the tent cap is like 30+

I have a quite a lot of merged zones a lot are just 2 solo males or like a herd and then a solo in the mix as well, one in particular has 26 fallow on the one spot I checked the need zone indicators and there was one the ones I found were 8,7,5 so there must be other zone with 6 in it. What do I do with this do I count it as 4 zones when counting do I blow it out so that they move

Okay so I've watched a few vids on the 4 lake method for black bear but I'm still kind of confused I know you're supposed to shoot higher levels at ext lakes and keep high levels (8 and 9) at 4 lakes but I've heard some say shoot level 4s and some said don't so does anyone mind just doing like a list on what to shoot

Guys, I need some advice and recommendations on what deer rifle would be the best. I've watched quite a few videos about it but then I don't think a Zarza 308. would be rated a deer rifle. I'm looking for rifles that work good on Revontuli Coast and Te Awaroa. As I said I would like weapons that use a suiting caliber for deer hunting and do a rather 'realistic' job.

308 win is a pretty normal round for fallow/whitetail/reds

also the game tells you what rifles are suitable for what classes of animsls, you could also use 300 blackout, 270, 303, 30 06 etc

also the zarzas are lame

Hey everyone! I’ve been on Layton Lakes for a long time and have 16 tents set up at different zones for a diamond white tail. It’s been my hardest by far for diamond. I got a piebald a long time ago, but no diamond. I’ve resorted to what my buddy told me and said to shoot the smaller 2’s but it’s been getting me nowhere. Any thoughts on Layton white tail diamonds. Little question about red fox
I know you need to kill both male and female fox of the same pack for the male to respawn, but do females coint for the "average level" of foxes? Like, do they also need to be low levels or is it fine if they are high levels?

I'm asking this cause on my friend's fresh map, females are on average higher level than males.... which is weird

Females don't really count or affect the male respawns but you do have to kill the pair to get respawns

Guys, are diamonds rare? Because tonight I shot 5 and I don't know if they increased their spawn or what.
When I played often in 2019-2021, it was a dream to score diamond. After returning to the game for 2 weeks, there is not a day when I do not hit a diamond, or even sometimes two.
Well, tonight I outdid myself. After changing the map with my friends, I immediately spotted the 3 very easy duck or 9 legendary red deer (or 5 medium reindeer but troll). Literally, after 2-3 minuts since I leave camp. No one of us have cheats or smth like that
