Everyone says don't shoot females but that's a high level that I'd usually shoot.

Honestly it's more a matter of understanding how to create my main grind zones because my spawns are literally skattered everywhere I don't have any quality lakes or rivers. One or two zones on every lake and the long rivers are clustered with zones.
So if I can somehow push those drink zones onto some of the bigger lakes as clusters to make a grind zone I'd be happy.

all my ibex seem to be reaching their zones very late, certain herds dont reach their zones until over halfway into the drink time even when its a solid ingame hour into drink time ibex still arent at their zones although i do see them outside their drink zones at drink time travelling to their zones sometimes some herds just straight up dont show up

I've tried every combination of Dolby Atmos + Windows Spacial Sound options, and the best I've found is that with spacial sound and Atmos the cries don't play AT ALL when they're in front of / to the right of me.

How do I set up a grind?

-First goal is to run or ride every shoreline on the map during or after drink time.
-Drop tents on big-herd zones, and put some near remote lakes.
-Approach zones from downwind, spot all animals.
-Big herds and max-weight males are your priority.
-Adjust tents and drop tripods. Remove tents from small-male zones.
-Shoot the biggest males, repeat. Your Best Zones will reveal themselves.
-Soon, some zones will be Awesome, some will be Meh. Focus on Awesome.
-Get Diamonds, Rares, and Great Ones.

If you’re setting up a grind the tripod is just a way to get a better vantage point on em, so you don’t have to sneak up and can shoot them from further, they’re definitely not something you 100% need but can save a lil time. They’re in the Treestands and Tripods DLC

I'm on the fence between the 308 AR and the Eckers 30 06 for my main overall use deer/whatever rifle to pair with 12ga for most reserves (of course I have a glock just in case or small critter comes by), so is there any signifficant differences between those two rifles?

First things first: It’s level doesn’t matter, it’s class matters. Class covers the animal species in general, level is that specific animal. SC 1, i’ve circled level, SC 2, i’ve circled class

when you go into the store, and then to ammo, you’ll find that on each ammo there’s little indicators in the bottom left - if you look on each of these, there’s little pictures of animals at the bottom

Im assuming singleplayer as you dont have other people causing noise as well but thats just me

I personally dont care for MP cause it just adds more pressure zones on my map which means less hunting in those areas for me

but whenever me and my buddies hunt together we spread out across the map

unless its duck/fowl hunting

Few times we do stick together and then one person will be the spotter. n switch each kill like we do in real life (if we even get one irl LOL)

For classes 2-3 .243 or .22-250 if you need to save some space

starting to do some casual herd management with moose on medved - i've been leaving single female zones, single bull zones, and taking the highest level bull in a group zone. if single bull zones are level 3 or 4 i take them anyway, level 2s are left. does this seem about right? the tl;dr is Ignoring female only zones and taking bulls at level 3 or 4.

Do these heat maps work at all? I want to start a whitetail diamond grind and I'm looking for drink zones. I've seen a guy have 6 whitetail drink zones around a small lake in the SW of Layton. Over there I have 0

Just started playing call of the wild again (havent played since the Mississippi map was added) can someone tell me what maps to get

Finding zones:

Zones show up around an hour before and an hour after the drink time (usually)
Specifically for Whitetail:

Their drinking time is 8-12, so you’ll want to set the time to 7-7:30 and then take an ATV and go along the lake in its entirety, and pick up any zones that you find, above the outpost/lake in roanchee there’s a hidden lake when you head North, which isn’t shown on the map.
Layton should have anywhere between 45-65 drinking zones.

If you don’t have an ATV it’s alright to just run along the coast, it’ll just take longer

I do have ATV's. I thought about driving around but I thought I should drive after their drink time. I'm not sure how the zones show up an hour before the time? I thought that they have to either drink and be spotted OR I can find clues and discover the zone. How do I then reveal the zone?

They’re a pretty common first one! Some people go for fallow because it can be easier - due to the fact that they usually don’t have too many zones (i could be wrong here), but whitetail is a great place to start!
