Welp, classic weapons are OK, but it is pretty difficult to master it, as you have low mastery (not available high penetration ammo), low level (lack of stealth perks and aiming stability).
DLC weapon packs are free (in game currency) and have all ammo unlocked from lvl 1.

if you like hunting a particular species then your weapon choices will change given their dependancy on certain ammo that only cover a set number of animals. some maps cater better to small game, others to large game. The goal is to explore what you enjoy

In general you have 2 options stay with base game or buy DLC (especially if it's on Sale).

For base game purchase 7mm Magnum rifle for 36k grant you ability to hunt all sorts of deers more reliable (like instant drop prey by hitting double lungs).
Your current .270 riffle is very close in term of stats but definitely less powerful (harder to deal deep penetrate damage like frontal hits to a heart or side shots double lungs).

Alternatively you can spend 60k on .338 rangemaster, which unlock you ability for extremely easy way to hunt biggest animals in the game (bears, moose, buffalo...)

For hunting diamonds you definitely need understand what consider an ethical hunting and which animal organs are viable to hit.

I can't recommend to hunt diamond animals until you reach character lvl 60.

You don’t need to be level 60 in order to hunt diamonds

There are four things you need to do in order for an animal to maintain their medal and that’s using the right gun and ammo, hitting a vital, and making sure you don’t shoot the animal more than twice

Most new players focus on trying to get money and figuring out the game so their priority are not on diamonds, but you can hunt them if you want to

Plus by level 60 you will have all your perks and skills maxed out

It's your character max level in Call of the Wild.
It wiil bring you 22 perk points and 22 skill points. So you should carefully plan what aspect of your character should be upgraded (you definitely not be able to unlock all skills, and resetting will cost you about 45k in game currency).

Hehe, no. This isn't working like that. Mostly because all good weapons are heavy, and you character can carry only 20kg. So it's not enough to carry all you need. Something will be not a good quality, and it's up to you to choose what to sacrifice.

At base game really u can just kind of make a loadout for all maps, which is applicable also to dlc users

If u can't carry a class 1 weapon u might want to look into carrying multiple shotgun rounds on u

Rangemaster is quite alright at big game hunting, people dislike the fact it weighs 5Kgs and has a singular shot

Dogs, tents, quad motorbikes, night vision DLC are also good.

Hunting stands with bird hunting DLC is also interesting.
So basically there is alot of stuff that can improve your hunting experience.

Some maps grant you access to interesting weapons, so it's jack of all trade. Yukon, Emerald coast, Vuhronga...

But those weapons are mostly a part of a quest line.

Only DLC maps grant you extra weapons, unfortunately not every DLC map.
In general Quests are pretty hard, especially on first 2 free maps - Hirsh and Layton Lakes.
It show you alternate way of hunting, and award you with extra experience and cash.
So basically it totally optional.
Moreover quests are not allowed to complete in multiplayer.

However it's a good idea to explore your map in multiplayer with a friend to find need zones. It definitely help to complete quests.

Hello all, I’m about 1600 kills into my first GO grind with 5 diamonds and 5 rares. At the 1400 kill mark my deer started pretty much only showing up to drink at 11:40, and often not showing up at all. It went from being super consistent not impossible to grind is there anyway to fix this.

look at the cone down on the compass, thats the wind direction, you wanna make sure that you aren’t facing or going down the direction of the wind, and if you are use scent spray, and try not to make too much noise.

when you can get the perk, “light feet,” to avoid making so much noise and dont spend any skill points on the wind direction perks

This is probably not the right place but nothing else helped. I have played cotw for about three weeks now and all of a sudden today I got the steam cloud conflict error and picked steam cloud. When I opened the game I lost all of my progress except for some reason my location so I’m still in the same outpost I was when I last closed the game. My weapons my levels my missions everything is back to what it was two weeks ago. Has this happened to anyone before? I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled the game, restarted my pc, checked all of my steam settings were ok and steam remote storage says the steam cloud save from when I last closed the game is still there it just isn’t in the game what should I do? Steam still says it’s all synchronized.

Pretty sure it's irrelevant. But usually you launch game once to create basic settings file, exit game and paste your old files owerwriting existing files (usually almost no overlapping).

Can someone explain me the Tier? I found gator with Tier 8 and silver trophy. So is that good?

For example gators is a predators, so they can go up to lvl 9.
1-3 is usually bronze;
4-5 is usually silver;
6-9 is usually gold;
Some lvl 9 can be a diamond (somewhere about 50% chance).
However to obtain proper medal you need to perform an ethical kill:

• use proper caliber;
• hit at lead one vital organ;
• hit target no more than 2 times;
• don't damage trophy organ (gator has no trophy organ so you can skip this step).

If yoy fail one or more conditions your medal will be downgrade once.

However trophy manager allows you to save or taxiderm your last harvested animal if you forget to do it in harvest screen.

If your character level is pretty high (close to lvl 60) you will have lots of perks to reduce recoil and aim wobble. That allow you to deal 2 consistent shots to a same target in extremely low amount of time (basically target wont realize it was hit).

Hey im a new player ( level 8 ) and i have a few questions. Primarily i want to hunt moose and am setting up layton right now. I was told for herd management to basically shoot the biggest male in the herd and move to the next herd, rinse repeat. How far away should i put my tents for the fast travel to the moose spots? I was told overshooting is also a thing and the spots can change if you overhunt. Is that true? Is there a way to stop this or be able to hunt more?
