There's no counter on the game itself, but I use an app called smart counter.

With the free version, you can get up to 10 seperate groups with (I believe) 25 seperate counter per group

They spawn with a certain rating, but can be degraded if you do not hunt them right. Hunting with the wrong caliber, bad shot etc.

Animals spawn with a score assigned to them and that score determines the medal. However if you don’t pass all 4 harvest checks the medal will drop one tier

I'm fairly new to the game and I'm stuck with my pointer. So, the last trait I chose for it is "On The Trail" and if I understand it well - if f.e. I'm tracking a buffalo and I command my dog to "point L", it will go for a buffalo.
...right?
...or do I have to give a different command?
...or is there merely a chance to activate the trait (as in "I see you")?
Please, help, I have no idea what I'm doing 😄

Depends on the level. At first the "point L" will just get you onto the trail of any large animal in the area. As you level-up the dog's skills you will be able to tell it to spot specific species after you find a track for that species.

I think you should be able to track specific species at level 13 but I don't know for sure at what level that becomes available. Just find any animal track or spot any animal and then immediately check the scroll wheel for specific species tracking option (it will be the only tracking option)

i tend to carry at least 3 guns, usually 4, so that plus a tent is heavy. Depends on your style though, but I make a lot of use out of the extra carry weight

Okay, so with herd management. I am on Layton lakes and I have about 10 drinks zones for my whitetail. I see plenty of people with herds with plenty of buck and no doe. Everytime I try to "manage " they always come back until it's all doe. Should I be shooting high 2's and 3's only or what am I doing wrong?

Tbh herd management seems a little bit complex becasue I don't know if I need to find all drink zones first, or only hunt 3-4 zones and I don't know to shoot the 2's only or maybe even the high 1's

I am currently at 955 in my whitetail grind. I have semi herd managed as in I have shot down my zones to only contain females or females and low scoring males (lvl 1/ low 2). I am set up on 16 zones with 1-3 basketed bucks. I do have I believe maybe 6 basket bucks that are solos who rotate not to new zones but between existing zones. However I have been attempting to swap the basket solos with lvl 1s in my active zones and I thought if I do not claim them while swapping that they would respawn with similar stats to what they had been. I now have extra lvl 2 bucks and I am confused.

I’m pretty new to this game (lvl 7). I bought a few dlc’s and the SRP map. But everything is going so slow and from a few people I heard that emerald coast is a good place for xp. Is that true and should I buy it?

Emerald coast is considered best for cash and xp because of the crocs but other than that it’s not better than Srp for beginners

What I don’t really like about srp is that you need to hop around the lakes to get some good shots and with low level en just a few tents that’s pretty hard. And yes, there are some animals on the fields but not that much in my experience and emerald coast seems more open and I like to walk around and just shoot animals. And the crocs

This is mainly in The 2 free maps and the medved taiga. And in other maps there are ticker sticks where I can drive through. A little weird

I have two questions about visibility and structures. With the Ground blinds, you stand in them but you can't really "crouch". Do you need to, or do they provide better cover than crouching outside normally would? And along those lines, on those items you see a "Visual Camo" rating of 80. it's hard to use fully prone to make a shot, you can use it for sneaking sometimes

crouching is really important though and easier to see
