Bisons can be found on the free Hirshfelden map (European Bison) and also on the Yukon and Silver Ridge map (Plains Bison). The "bisons" you'll encounter in the Savanah map are the Cape Bufallo

How can I tell if a color is rare ?

While there are some variants with the animals, most of the very rare fur types are Piebald, Albino, Melanistic and Leucistic.
Piebald looks like the animal ran into some white paint with blotches of white and cream on their fur. In some cases, this is hard to see.

This would be Piebald

Then you have Leucistic, which is a lesser form of albino. The animal is an off white with usually a darker nose and dark eyes

Anyone done a Super Rare grind? How do you go about doing it? So far I've been doing herd management and yesterday just started stacking, currently have 1 legendary on my map. Anything else I should know?

Finding rares seems really hard. I understand that's kind of the whole point of a rare, but I can go hundreds without seeing anything. Rather frustrating. In the process of grinding for GO whitetail, I didn't even see my first rare until well over 1000 kills, and even so I only have 6 piebalds and 1 melanistic now at 2025 kills.

In note, I'm not grinding for a whitetail sr, rather tibetan fox. Got a sandy on my first week of playing Sundarpatan and fell in love with the fur type. Originally was grinding for tawny but changed my mind (still no luck with that either even after 5 legendaries), and I'm prepared for this new goal to be a LOT more difficult.

They respond well to caller so be hidden in a tripod so they can’t attack you when aggressive, and you will have height advantage to pick out one by one with the 10mm glock. Or use 308 if you rather walk around and chase or shoot from afar

For wolves to respawn do I need to kill the whole pack or can I let one or two go without consequence?

Usually behind the shoulder when broadside is lungs for most of what you shoot at. Organs can move a little if they are drinking. Some have much larger/smaller organs too

Lungs are usually the same place but I noticed for some animals, the heart seems to be either ridiculously low in their chest or rather high up

And size changes too of course

Much easier to hit a heartshot on a moose than, let's say, a fox

For a trophy check you need to shoot them 2 or less times.
It's best to learn their anatomy and aim for the heart. they won't die instantly most of the time. on the wiki you can find this image

Bison are Class 9 so you need a class 9 rifle, .308 is class 4-8.

Try going to the area at different times of the day. They feed from 6-10 and again from 17-21. If you are not sure, visit about those times, look around for a need zone or two and come back then. During rest times (13-17 and 21-6), they might be in the area as well, but not in the open, so you could use antler rattler to help call them in. If you have blinds or tree stands, that can help.

3. Maybe the person is poor and cannot buy more ammo and only has 30-06 left and no .308

Only certain animals reliably vocalize in response to calls

Only some animals will respond to the caller. Elk callers specify it often elicts a vocal response and I believe there is a perk whereyou can make animals respond to callers.

In the Ambusher skill tree, Fatal Attraction will have more vocal responses if you max it out.

And yes, they will only respond/ call out within that range of attraction of the caller
