your tripod is in the wrong spot relative to your decoys and the wind. They usually like to land downwind of the decoys, but whenever this happens some adjustments will find the good layout for your layout

(I highly suggest tents DLC if you have the money to spare - the tents give you +16 fast travel points per map, so if you have an area out of immediate range of a cabin then you can drop a tent and save yourself the run time. Its also cheaper to sleep in a tent than a cabin.)

If you want all types as in, every class I think silver ridge nearly does that, I know vurhonga has almost every type, but honestly no not every map has every type of animal like how Layton has no class 9 nor 5 I think it was, iirc hirschfelden doesn't have I wanna say it's 8, but lemme ask you this what are you looking to hunt really, deer, rabbit, fox/coyote, bear, elk etc etc

Or a healthy mix of all

@narrow spindle so this is what I've had alot of luck doing. I never really sprint, I just walk around follow tracks if I can but also look at the scat. If it says it's old I just abandon it.

Now if I hear a warning call I immediately crouch down and either start to head that direction slowly or use a caller. I find the callers to be invaluable

@narrow spindle if you're just walking slowly, and not sprinting. Absolutely. As soon as you see the call and track it and it says warning, I immediately crouch

Warning just means he kinda knows you're there but he's not scared enough to flee.

I also always have my binoculars out. So when I do hear that call, crouch use your caller and keep them out and try and get a pinpoint on them. Sometimes it might take a bit if they have to walk a bit

actually with the new bug Zeroing is most important for archery. You can't shoot the traditional bows without it, they have a 40m penalty applied to their range.

I'm not a crossbow user, but as far as I know this bug affects every weapon. Try aiming like the animal is 40m further away. It might be different with different levels of the Pumping Iron perk, but I have two levels because I used to be archery main before this fiasco and that's how it works for me.

ddreil depends on what you play on. im on pc with xbox controler, down on dpad brings the dog command wheel up or double tap down for track/retrieve(depends on your dog choice hound or retrieve). to place a tent d pad up hold and choose tent. must be placed on flat ground. max 16 tents on one map.

the Grelck Drilling is good for Big Animals and it can take shotgun ammo for Mallard and Goose and and the Whitlock model 86 is good for smaller animals.

I'm still having trouble understanding the .270 , I can never understand how this gun work s against moose and bear and Layton lakes, either I don't where to shoot, most of the time I am behind or front cant seem to hit broad side the animal and same for both bear & moose. for bear , I shot it I follow it then there are no more tracks . For moose I shot it never vital. And I hit a deer squared behind the shoulders thought I killed it never found it this is so frustrating.

Been playing since 4am managing only to kill a deer and turkey.

...I really want to play this but the enjoyment starting to dwindle I bought the DLC for Malmer 7mm Magnum, maybe that will work, my time playing on Layton has been moose and bear

.270 is a Class 4-8 rifle.
Sometimes, what I have noticed is that a weapon does great for the majority of it's range, but on the high end it might struggle. i.e. Class 8's in this case.

You might need to be incredibly precise with lung or heart, or neck bone shots to take down the heavier targets.

If you find yourself always head on, you can try belly crawling to a more adventageous position

Everyone has opinions - and it DOES have a bit of a learning curve..
If anything - you can go to the wiki and look at the images of the animals. They show a pretty good "shoot here for a kill" diagram on most if not all of the animals

The information is a little dated - but the images hold true

For the record, though, headshots on almost every animal (other than a few large ones, and class 1s) are not recommended.
Destroys the trophy organs
neck-spine shots are okay, but spinal shots from end of neck to tail do not count as a proper kill

Orange is risky because if its not a vital organ it wont kill immediately

, my situation I was in for example bear I encountered them while they are traveling , if they are like 100yrds or pretty close. Im trusting 270 to take it out.

For moose I spotted a female moose resting maybe 70yrds , repositioned myself able to down it. For male moose's because they are tougher I'm encountering there need zones to try repositioned myself as possible try to hit them square again relying on 270 , with effective range of 150 meters = 164 yards, I move up to closed down the distance to be less than 164 yards . Hit it squared they are not DROPPING ... Why is it F'ing difficult to drop a bear or a moose

Usually an aggressive animal near. Either a large predator or one of the large herbivores that become agressive. Basically your last warning before a potential attack

Well, technically, your dog will release a growling bark right before the attack

I don't know if it is a bug or a glitch but the only way I know to fix it is to rejoin and that is really annoying in multiplayer. I agree with the advice you got, shoot all max weight estimate animals and anything else with a good trophy estimate too. Make sure you've found all their drink zones, Ronda and Gredos can be tricky like that

I'll shoot one and all of a sudden next rotation the 7 males in the herd are gone or the entire herd is gone even if the zone is there still

Sometimes I've even witnessed males respawning as females

I'm on a very new profile, like level 15, so money is tight and tents aren't tenting well, but I'm working on grinding tigers. I've found some nice lakes where I used to get a male tiger to be 7-9 very consistently, now all of a sudden I'll kill it 2-4 times and then it disappears, I search every nearby lake and the river to the best of my ability and find nothing. It almost feels as though most of my tigers just aren't showing up for their drink times. Any tips?

Hey I'd recommend using a caller around a feed zone between at night time for them, sit up on a rock and wait for them to come by and take your pick

Multiplayer is a peer-to-peer connection, so even if you both have great internet - a fluctuation in it can result in a desync. If the desync doesn't resolve relatively quickly it can cause disconnects

From what I've learned, the tigers may have moved to the river if you haven't checked there, I am currently working on this issue of having no tiger at my 3 lakes. It seems that the tigers just randomly move zones or even what feels like home ranges. The best thing I can suggest is just running all the lower drink zones during drink time and hoping to find another place with consistency or returning your male to the 3 lakes.

you must have the zeroing perk to use the sight. I think this is a bug, but maybe it's intended. If you have the perk you can toggle the sight on and off the same way you toggle the scope on other rifles. I don't know the xbox control, but on PC it's middle-click while holding up the rifle
