Males respawn as males females respawn as females. There is 0 point in killing females unless your looking for a female rare. But for certain animals it can be worse to shoot a female.

Ok, can someone help me understand "accuracy" in the game.. for example the 338 has a 33 - 38 accuracy rating with a effective range of 150 meters, the 7mm has 33 -35 accuracy rating with a 150m for the effective range, the 6.5 has a accuracy of 70 with the effective range being at 200m and the 300 has a accuracy of 80 with a effective range of 150m but mentions that it can be used up to 400 meters. I just don't understand how the 338 has such a low accuracy rating and effective range. I'm just looking for some clarification I guess on how these numbers and calculations were brought about.. why did the 300 get so much love while the other rifles seem to have just been tossed in ?

I took a quick trip to Hirschfelden and shot the 6.5mm Martensson (effective range 200m) and the .300 Canning (effective range 150m). You can see they have no drop-off until beyond the listed effective range, and then they start to fall. At 250m it was getting hard to shoot bullseyes with the 4-8x scope so I did not extend the test.

from what I can tell there is no initial arc either like with a real firearm, it's more of a flat trajectory and then drop off after the effective range

yeah I've spent a lot of time testing the rifles at the range, looking for the best loadouts and such, I just couldn't understand where the numbers they have for the weapons came from.. it's like they just pulled something out of the air.. for the example.. the 6.5 and the 338 are both considered to be highly accurate long range weapons along with the 300 and 7mm but in game.. there is a big difference when it comes to accuracy

Some of the quest in game requires shots over 400 meters and I was trying to understand how the weapons were determined based on the info given.

actually the bullet is technically always falling. thats why the zeroing perk exists :3

this is true, depending on the weapon you use though, if you zero the weapons at (i use yards) 164 they are pretty much on the money.. if you keep those same settings then shoot at the 328 yard target you can really see the difference in bullet drop

I think you can make a lethal shot at 400m+ with all of the rifles you mentioned as long as you know your holdovers and use the right ammo.

my understanding is the effective range is only about the zero point and doesn't affect how far away the rifle is lethal from.

but if you're asking why some rifles have more drop off which makes them harder to shoot at long range I dunno 🤷‍♂️ many parts of the shooting don't match real life exactly

to my understanding, stacking diamonds is the best way to get a Great One.

I thought the reason to stack diamonds was to increase the chances of smaller deer spawning and make it faster to shoot down the herds.

Again with the little knowledge I have your herd sizes may change but that’s because the deer your harvesting is spawning back in elsewhere

Keep your larger deer at a few spots and smaller deer at others, herd management

Just wondering, I play on PS4- when coming across need zones (spotting or not) I'm finding just 1 animal mostly . Not too many animals in most of my zones. Is it due to bad zone/herd management or lack of found zones?

From what I’ve heard, read and seen watching streamers, I’ll say the more zones you find the more animals you’ll start seeing in those zones, Not sure of your level or skills you’ve got but there are skill that will tell you about how many animals are visiting that zone, with that being said it does not mean if the zone is 4 to 8 they will show up at 4 but they should show up within that time at some point,

Have you tried joining a multiplayer map, I’m not sure of your exact details on what you mean no animals on your parties but I’d suggest trying some multiplayer maps and see if it helps, also if your map is kinda new, you may want to try and discover as many need zones as you can.

Hey everyone, I have been playing the game for a while now but I honestly haven't figured out how to level up consistently. I am in the hirschfelden reserve, mainly hunting fallow deer. But the ammount of experience I get is minimal at best and the highest difficulty I can find for most any animal is 4. Anyone have advice here? I honestly feel like I am missing something obvious.

you're searching for some guy that's hunting for "legendary" ghost jackals and he went missing doing so. you end up looking for him in some maze like cave up in the mountains. you fall off a hanging bridge 30-50m high and you knock yourself out. these ghost jackals guide you to your way out of the tunnel

the best way to hunt any animal consistently is to find their drink zones. they appear at fixed times so you can always hang around near the waters. also stay quiet and low. when you're within 150m near an animal or their zone

Get it, it's pretty good. I think most people have it in their top three. It has a fun mix of species and fairly open sight lines and it's fairly easy to get around and tent up the places that don't have outposts. The only downside for me is the constant growling from the Mountain Lions. It might be my favorite map if not for that.

I don't know about optimal, but set the decoys up somewhere you've seen a lot of turkeys. Mountain Goat outpost in Two Fawns is a good spot. You don't need to be on top of their need zone, but within caller range. Set up a tripod nearby and hit that mouth caller (the red one that makes the mating call). You should see a tom soon enough.

Question though, assuming you wipe out a bunch of em. Will Turkeys from other parts of the map gravitate toward your set up over time?

I don't know for sure, but I think so yeah. When you wipe out flocks of geese or ducks they still come back, and I think turkeys work the same way. I haven't done that myself though.

Hi all!
I have a problem regarding multiplayer servers. Both my friend and I are on Playstation 5, but whenever we try to create a server and join each other (private, public, friends only) a black sceeen pops up and then the prompt 'Connection Attempt to multiplayer server Failed/timed out'
Weve reset our internet, restarted the game multiple times, tried different networks, even tried different ways of join each others games and nothing seems to work. Weve deleted the game and re-installed it and the issue still persists.
Is anyone aware of the bug or have a known remedy for the problem?

As I'm not a grinder, just a casual hunter (and don't really hunt need zones), if I restart my game will that automatically put all my bears on all maps at new drink times?

Guys, I was wondering about the new bear times, and what Jaxy said on the last live, about manual animal reset and i may do it once the update is live, and here is the reason:
1- Casual player with no grinds or interest in filling a lodge with lots of trophies
2- It would take for ever to kill all my bears, and i may never actually finish it, since my focus is wander around the map, and kill what ever shows up, for the joy of playing
3- I don't want to start a new game because of a single animal specie that will make me think my game is broken, in a couple of weeks if i decide to hunt bears and they are not showing up on the times on the wiki or the guides available

I have tried to reset 1 map, made a back up, deactivated steam cloud, deleted the file, loaded the game and... the pressure was gone, but the "zone markers" where there...
so, what am i missing?
BTW I have restored the backup, it was a test for after the update, and I only intent to do it on maps with black bears

The thing is if your grinding then you will have to redo all the tents etc and also see where the bears are. I believe if your grinding it maybe better as u can just shoot only males that are in your main shooting zones so no more bears will be there to ruin it.

I am a casual player, and don't do grinds so reset is not a problem for me, the problems is if that a few weeks or months from now, i want to hunt black bear specifically, my map will be messed up because my animals will be on the old schedule and all the guides and info i find will be on the new schedule

I found Males randomly on other Part of the Maps but i thought geese travel and i could hunt whole Population at that Spot or at least get respawns.... Any Tips? Another Setup at other Side?

From what people have been saying.. with birds - in order to get respawns I think you need to kill off the whole flock.. So if a flock has 4 birds, all 4 gotta go before replacements.
If the flock has 8 or 9... All 8 or 9 gotta get smoked.

I'm having problems with understanding how many animals drink from a particular drink zone to determine if it's worth dropping a tent and if killing one would wipe the zone. I'm hunting black bears (males) in Layton and I find myself having to re-discover the zones after killing just one male per zone. And no, it's not due to excessive hunting pressure

Black bears are predators which means solo zones, killing one usually makes it move or stay in the same spot but you re discover the zone.

Can find them on the companion app, or around here if ya search. For most deer species, broadside shot just behind the front shoulder is an ideal safe lung shot. Would wait on trying to hit the heart until you're a bit more confident with where to aim and well acquainted! Can also help when you are in the harvest scree to toggle between X-ray and normal view as you pan the camera to get an idea!

main benefits are decreased hunting pressure and stealth. Each kill is 1/4 the normal pressure like in a stand (which it stacks with). It has reduced spookiness on the animals; they don't hear it very faw away and if you hit a heart shot the herd might not even leave.

best tips are to understand being stealthy and to practice. there is an archery range in Parque if you have it, but hitting the 50 at Hirsh is enough to get started

they tend to go down quickly from arrows, so generally less tracking even on bad shots

the weapon you use doesn't affect the animals score or spawn chance except for the integrity check (using the right caliber)

golds per hour really depends on how you hunt and what. if you aren't seeing enough golds for your liking switch areas. most (maybe half?) fresh herds should have a gold leader

if you're new I recommend shooting any male and not worrying too much about gold/silver. Harvesting lots of animals is the key to making gold/XP and your character needs a lot of both.

I also forgot to mention Archery Perks are quite important. I recommend rushing to Pumping Iron and getting both levels of that, then going back and getting more levels of Full Draw if you want

hey guys - when hunting crocs on emerald coast, is there a way to get them to float to shore quicker after shooting them? i almost always hit vitals and they run into the water anyway and take a while to pop up and float ashore

It depends on how you hit the animal. When it is struck by the arrow if it doesn't die immediately it flees and often causes a commotion that spooks the other animals. Heart shot is most reliable to prevent this but is hard to perform. Double lung shot usually works too but sometimes they walk a couple feet before they die. Make sure to use the 600gr arrows on any class 7 animals (medium and heavy arrows are both legal on this class).

Any advice on setting a tent at the back of Sylvestre's Trail for grinding bear on Silver Ridge Peaks? In videos I see tents in spots it won't let me place them, and I can't quite find a good spot between 250-400m away.

The green dot is around where I'd like to put my tent and I've seen other people drop theirs. The red dot is where I used to have a tent but the beavers got it and I can't lay another.

It means you eliminated that zone, but it's okay it will reappear when the animals respawn. Usually nearby but sometimes elsewhere on the map.

if you keep laying down the pressure they will keep leaving. You reduce hunting pressure by creating it somewhere else. You also create less when using a stand/tripod/blind or a bow.

You also have to trigger the animal spawns. Usually that happens automatically, but sometimes you have to quit/reload to get the animals to appear. Be careful though this will get rid of any dead animals still laying on the ground.

Put tents all over their area in Saguachee Plains. You could get by with five or six but the more the easier. Most of the hunting stands on the map are worth building for this operation. The wind tends to blow between N and E during that time of day in that part of the map so make your tent and tripod placements accordingly.

Step one is finding all the drink zones while setting up your tents. It should be fairly easy compared to some animals/maps. Next shoot all the 3s and 4s you can find. I bet you get your diamond within three rotations after setting it up.

after you fill those out you have some choices. If you like archery I suggest doing that next, but there are some good perks in the shotgun tree that apply to all weapons too.

Rifle Zeroing perk is also popular but I learn the holdovers on the various scopes and save my point

I have zero Great Ones, but my understanding is that Black Bear tends to spawn after fewer kills than the others so that one might be easiest. I see more Fallow Great Ones than the other species so maybe that one is easy for some other reason?
