I was farming Rancho Del Arroyo for whitetail and guides told me to bounce between 8 lakes, i went to the far southern edge of the map cause i was curious and found 3 possible diamonds and 2 large heards, that spot wasnt even on the guides.

You should go to every body of water to find all of the drink zones because everyone’s maps are different someone might have a zone in 1 spot and you might not have that same zone so I wouldn’t listen to guides for how their setups are and I would use it to find potential zones then set up from how your zones are positioned

U don’t have to go to every body of water though it’s more of a suggestion

ok cause from what i was reading, to summarize, if i go around to each general zone, place tents and a hunting stand nearby, shoot every pretty much every male i see (unless im looking for a great one), they would eventaully spawn as either a weaker or stronger version till i got a diamond.

Ya that’s pretty much how it works if u want a go I like to find every zone so ik where to start and then keep all of the high level males including max levels so I can stack them and get the rest of the population down to low levels then once that’s done I go and shoot the high level ones and just keep cycling through those zones till a go spawns for getting diamonds and not great ones I just blast them all and not bother about getting every zone

I suggest hunting most animal populations you haven’t hunted yet. Most maps have at least one diamond as an initial spawn (not guaranteed though)

Rocky elk, mtn lions, pronghorn, and mule deer are easy diamonds on Srp. Fallow, sika, red deer, and mallard are easy for te

Weakest 4-8 rifle in the game, wouldn't use it extensively on anything bigger than Class 4. Te Awaroa's .303 is much better for red deer.

Cuatro is still a fun map though. The story is one of the best out of them all

I had a question about a "bug/glitch" it has happened twice now and I don't think the game is this glitchy after all its years of being out so im just curious about this. It has happened in rancho del arroyo and yukon valley where i do a quest and when i interact but not really interact it sort of bugs out and removes the ability for me to do it, but on my mission log it still says I need to do that quest, not sure if im doing something wrong or if its a bug not to sure, thanks.

so i have something i did for red deer herd management that made getting my lvl 4s way easier, i got maybeye 4 diamonds on my map and quite a few mythicals and left them alone whele killing all the other stags and by doing that i very quickly spawned low level stags in the areas i wanted to

Looking at Turkey hunting and wondering two things: a) which map is probably the best to have continual turkey farming on, and b) is it worth setting up permanent turkey blinds and decoys (like how we do ducks/geese) or is it better to just stalk hunt them? Imo SRP is great, everytime I log on there’s a turkey call not even 200Yds(182M) from the first ever outpost you unlock when you buy the DLC

afaik they can be in a small radius around that marked spot. If you are on like, NEM for instance, I found a fox's actual need zone like 10m from the marked area.
I just walk circles til I find it, going a little wider out each time til its found

Well, unless you kill and collect the animals - that data should not exist afaik. So, your in-game hands had to have touched a GO in order to make those 2 GO's count.

I've been trying to start working on a whitetail grind on revontuli and I am having trouble finding all of my drink zones. I've been through all the lakes in the top 70% of the map and a lot of the lakes I have explored were completely empty including some of the larger lakes in the center of the map. If any of you would have any pointer that would be greatly appreciated. I only have about 40ish zones found already.

the best thing to at the lakes you feel you should have zones is make sure your in drink time and drive a four wheeler around the perimeter of the lake to look for drink zone tracks

Stack 5s in zones you want to shoot, then once you have a good amount of 5s you go to zones you don’t want to shoot and get them down to 1s and 2s. Once you have done that you’re good to shoot the 5s and then repeatedly shoot the zones you had 5s stacked in

Most people do it to make sure the animal is there. (Resetting time just allows you to have more time to hunt, backing out then re entering makes the animals go to their zone)

fully closing the game/backing to main menu, according to some (but idk if confirmed as 100% by devs) is THE method for it

From my experience, just leaving and re entering the game does force them them back into zones, but just changing time does not. (This is after me doing a run of a grind, I believe because after leaving and re joining it resets the animal getting rid of them being nervous) no clue tho

If you are straight hunting the same small area that might be more effective, for sure!

If you are doing a rota of multiple zones - sleeping and starting at a zone, and cycling through them should work just fine

I think it’s because animals have a nervous countdown almost. Even when out of render, but when you exit and re enter it disables/resets the countdown, forcing them to be at the normal zone

I've been trying to start working on a whitetail grind on revontuli and I am having trouble finding all of my drink zones. I've been through all the lakes in the top 70% of the map and a lot of the lakes I have explored were completely empty including some of the larger lakes in the center of the map. If any of you would have any pointer that would be greatly appreciated. I only have about 50ish zones found already. The video that I've watched says that I need about 60 to start a grind and i cannot find anymore to save my life.

Is there a maximum to how many decoys you can have out at one time on a map?
And is it say 100 per species or 100 in total (all species put together)?

I'm pretty sure I'm well over the 300 mark but the game hasn't said "you can't put down any more"

100 is the official line i think. I've put a lot more then that out though.... it does still work. (i had around 150 on my Rev a few weeks back) I have found if i want to put decoys out ill put 2 down, then 4. then 6. Once it starts to work that does it for me. So going back to the decoy limit, you could put a stack of 20 decoys in five places around the map for max effectiveness. I think more does work if you are in the right place but this is not what the game info states. All those decoys will make it harder to find zones while the decoys are out though. If you want zones decoys are your biggest enemy. I hunt ducks primarily in this game and have hunted them almost exclusively for the last few months. 🙂

Gotchya, yeah I'm at about 340 decoys on Revontuli atm. About 7 blinds out set up for various ducks/geese throughout the map. They all "seem" to work for what I need them to, and each spot just drags them in like crazy, but I wasn't sure if I just have a bunch that are literally giving 0 effectivness and would be better served on another map or if they are in fact all working

And i know in classic it's a limit of 200, but no wiki or anything I could find ever stated any max limit for decoys on COTW, just the "20 max per location" limit for effectivness

So I was like o.O huh...did they remove the limit?

Yes i would do that. Decoys might not be working on rev for several reasons. 1. No zones. 2. Decoys nearby (300-400 meters) are sending all the birds to that loaction. 3. Wrong decoys. 4. Too many decoys for specific breeds. (why i do the 2, then 4, then 6 etc. Yes you can have too many but mostly map specific. Rev has not displayed this problem to me yet) I've only seen the 100 limit on here as a comment. SO i don't know if there really is a limit but i do know that if you have too many you will not see them in other nearby areas where you would normally. 🙂

Cool cool, I'll see if there's any spots I can remove and lower the count and keep it down to like 3 or 4 blinds yet still be able to grab all of the various species just to be safe. Thanks Harold!

On the west side north you will find Goldeneye and Tufted. West side lower map will likley be wigeon and teal. Mallard on east side lower and tufted a bit further north. WIgeon will lurk in there somewhere too. It's nice to talk duck hunting in this game. Most are just wanting to talk about deer lol

Deer and all thats fun and all, but, I dunno, everyones so hyped on "i need great ones" and "i need diamonds" and "let me mow down 100 bucks/does around a lake", it starts feeling like nothing else matters. I see it as, if I want to hunt something with antlers, I'll hunt them and just follow the same rules in RL (it's why i choose to use a muzzleloader instead of semi-autos so I can't do follow-up shots....ensures I'm always shooting to be on mark and not just "good enough", or use a bow and call em in close, just like in RL). This lets me enjoy the other species more, like ducks, geese, rabbits, pheasants, etc, which a lot of people just...seem to ignore LOL. I dunno why, maybe I'm just an old fart.

Turn on some chill music, pull out the shotgun and birdshot, and just....sit back, calling em in, and enjoy a relaxing, stress free day

lol ... i too am old haha. Im british and shot clay when i was young. The shotgun game in HCOTW is on point and absolutly worth the time for the reward. I do enjoy using all the differnt shotguns too. I got a diamond wigeon with a side by side 20 g a few weeks back on rev. It was great cos i got it with a 2 ducks one cartridge shot.

Is the trophy rating score shown (232.90) the "original" trophy rating the animal had before I badly hunted it, or is the "final" trophy rating after I got points deducted because of the improper ammo?

As a newcomer to this game, I have a few questions about the need zones:

1. With the ATV, no new need zones are shown to me. Is this normal or a bug?
2. For me, the need zones on Te Awaroa are different than on the hot spot maps that you find on the internet. Normal?
3. Can you find the need zones at any time? Because I have the feeling that I find need zones in the same place during the day that were not there before at a different time.

but for hunting class 1 birds, it'll help you a lot, but hunting on decoys/binds mostly won't help u much unless u virant .22 it from afar and it lands somewhere on the land and not on the water to float to you, your retriever could swim to it
i see people absolute stack their hunting pressure like crazy on one spot while hunting birds and birds still flying by like crazy amount(revontuli map)

1. more information needed. it could very well be that the route you are taking just doesnt have need zones in it, or you are scaring away the animals before they get to that need zone
2. hotspot map you found is likely out of date. there have been several population redistributions and zone time reshufflings over the last couple of years
3. you can usually find them while the animals are using them and i think up to a few hours after they move to the next zone

I rarely see lots of need zones with my ATV compare to me just walks around except its on drink zone ofc
