basically yes and no they dont despawn

unless you somehow manage to place them on terrain you shoudnt have

so they only despawn if they're placed in another person's lobby from what i see then (if you leave the server or the server gets shutdown)

@last hemlock best bird load out would be a shotgun and the virant imo. The kullman is also nice for class 1. I don't have my shotgun score very high yet so I'm just using the miller model but there are better ones to use I believe.

then just pop on EC, set a tent on the east coast beach and walk north, there's so many fucking croc rests zones just on the beach it's nuts. easy money. clear off your pressure by shooting some other shit in EC and repeat. or use a bow

well, once you get enough for a tent that is, for now you can fast travel to the nearest outpost to the beach, set your time to about 1400, then hike to the beach, one run through there and you'll have enough to buy a tent

or 1430, can't recall how far the nearest outpost is but there's a lot of 1600 to 2000 rest zones

the diamond black bear in layton is a main story mission so just do the main story missions

you can't miss it, but when you get to the point where it says kill or photograph it(second photograph mission) if you photograph it you can't kill it. there will be two, a mission to photograph it and a mission to kill it. you can't do both

and it also is not a guaranteed diamond, it can be a gold

it's a ways in, doc gives the mission to kill it, the crazy bear guy gives the mission to photo graph it

Hi all, two things I am wondering about: It happens sometimes as I am sat on a hunting tripod that my heartrate becomes pounding fast for no reason, and I have to dismount for it to return to regular beat. Anything I am doing wrong for this to happen?
Also, when firing a revolver (single action?) sometimes my intended triggerpull becomes a cocking of the gun, wasting my attempted shot moment. This never happens at the firing range.. Is there anything I can do about this, or be aware of that I need to "double fire" ahead of time?

No, not straight from running, sometimes directly from crouching sneaking there will be a medium heartbeat, then as I am sat, the heart turns red and pounds fast. Weird.

It's something I experience with the sundberg 454, but not often. It is as if there's a trick to it that I don't know about, and I can't practice on a firing range. I thought I'd ask before wasting a lot of expensive bullets experimenting.

my heart rate doesn't change at all in a tree stand if I'm idling except falling after holding breath. and it falls normally in the stand afterwards. I don't think it's suppose to. try taking down the tree stand and putting it back up? sometimes this game has wacky ass bugs. like a shot a moose the other day with my bow and he literally flew up into the sky and fell down

Yes, seems a little like a bug. Having tested a bit, when I run to jump onto the stand, my pulse will go down, but sometimes coming directly from a sneak, the pulse keeps increasing and wont stop until i dismount and breathe on the ground.

Now that I am conscious of it, just waiting a beat after the sneak before mounting, I avoid the racing pulse..

I'm currently playing on Silver Ridge Peaks and the cougars are scaring many potential diamonds off, I think I've heard before you shouldn't harvest cougars for that reason, is that true?
Edit: I'd still like to get some diamond cougars in the future but am scared to stop them from respawning and forget where most of the cougar bodies are. Is it helpful to leave the low level cougars' bodies and the higher levels I harvest. Most of the cougars are high level tho so I'm not sure what to do

don't worry about forgetting where the bodies are, just leave the game to menu. you'll be fine

or if you're that worried, map pin the bodies, and screenshot the ones you want to come back for

Once you leave the game, the bodies "dissolve" and respawns should occur naturally

It is only while you're running that session if you kill and dont collect they will stop spawning

Anyone able to explain how herd management works? from what Ive gathered you just leave the max level and the lowest levels possible of the animal on the map and kill all the males in between, is that essentially what you do? Like for red deer I would leave 4s and lower and 9s but get everything else?

And could someone explain why that works? Like what with the spawning mechanics makes only having Low and high level deer give you better chances to spawn better deer?

Why it works like that? It’s like an equilibrium, the system tries to stabilise through spawning more higher scoring animals to compensate for the large amount of smaller scoring animals

so the game tries to make like an average level and if you have a ton of low levels it offsets it the only way it can by spawning high levels ?

For red deer example, u can exploit that system by letting the number of 1-4’s accrue. That will tend to spawn more 7-9’s, therefore more diamonds. So HM is only used for getting diamonds and “super rares” (which aren’t rly genuine super rares if they r spawned via HM)

How can I find/get more Diamonds?

I’ve been playing for 3 years and only got 2 diamonds

1 of which i shot with the wrong caliber

respawns are just random, so kill more animals = more respawns = more chances of diamonds spawning

hard to believe you've been playing that long and only had 2, but I suppose it depends on how often you play, and how many animals you take per session

for example, I've been doing a very casual fallow grind on Emerald Coast and after 368 kills I've had 5 diamonds. So roughly 1 every 74 kills.
Obviously that's a small sample size, but you get the idea

Sleeping, or closing the game, acts like a soft reset

it doesnt wipe your save or anything

but it "resets" the animals

so like if you kill 3, and sleep til the start of the zone time

it will encourage all the respawns and set the AI to begin walking to their need zone

and now we get into rare fur colors

well.. its exactly what it is! rare fur colors! say you find yourself a BROWN black bear... or a white whitetail deer... a moose with white patches, or even a black coyote

those are some rare fur colors since they're different from the norm!

and these fur colorations actually do exist in real life, in order those would be: blonde or cinnamon black bear, albino whitetail, piebald moose, melanistic coyote

and theres multiple different rare fur colorations you can get for an animal, generally. so start lookin for any funky looking dudes!

who knows, you may get yourself a melanistic or piebald whitetail rather than an albino

Silver Ridge, Emerald coast, Te awaroa and Revontuli are all good maps imo. Weapon pack one is great for the Virant. 22lr (best class 1 rifle imo) assorted sidearms pack is great for the davani and cuomo (able to equip big rifle sights and zero farther on the cuomo). Maps are probably the better option though.

Medved is also a good map, but challenging af and wolves are nasty.

Put some scent eliminator on, find a bush that completly reduces visibility (should be the teeniest almost non existent sliver of a line on your visibility bar) and call one in if you have a caller for them. If not, still put scent eliminator on and sneak up on one facing away from ya. Not sure what exact mission youre talking about but it should work.

also if you are in dense brush, or night hunting, the dog can track real fast

also has a perk to ward off attacking animals or growl to alert you to danger

@icy hearth It really depends, sometimes they just don't work right but I think it's usually 50 yards or something. Just keep getting closer and take a bunch of pics, it'll work eventually

yes under hunter profile, one of those two options shows you total harvests as well as gold, diamond, great ones and yes you keep all of your gear when you switch maps

You can't gain more animals per se

All you can do is just kill more hoping for better respawns

If you're looking for bigger trophies (excluding great ones) herd management mind be a good idea

Letting the small bucks live and killing the big ones to skew the average

For animals that go from 1-3 I'd recommend killing 2's and leaving the 1's

For animals that make diamond at 5 I'd recommend killing 3's and 4's while leaving any 2's or 1's

I only hunt big game rabbits birds etc are the most annoying thing to hunt

And for animals that make diamond at 9 I'd recommend killing anything above a 4 or a 5
