Hi everyone I’ve been playing hunter call of the wild for a while now on Xbox and it has been working fine but when my friend got a dlc map and I go to join it my game freezes and crashes but after about 10-15 join attempts it lets me in for about 30 mins and seems to crash again . All the other dlc maps work completely fine and never crash. Just wondering if anyone has anyone solution for this problem

In this example we are using the default Ranger .243 with the Argus 8-16x50 Rifle Scope for all testing purposes.

WHERE TO SHOOT
Aligning the sights

There are many theories on where to place your crosshair on your target to score that perfect shot.
Here you will notice in this image, that the crosshair is directly in the centre of the target. When we shoot, you will see that the bullet actually goes slightly to the bottom right. This is because the scope lines for the 4x up to 16x zoom scopes are not properly aligned.

What does this mean for my shots?

For all your shots over ~300m, it would be advised to aim that bottom corner, illustrated in the image below. This mark on your crosshair will actually hit the target, assuming it is executed correctly. If you shoot straight on your target, you will notice the bullet will go towards that mark, regardless of the distance between.

When shooting up to 300m, you're usually safe to use the centre of the crosshairs for your shot since the distance between you and your target will not affect it as much.

HOW TO SHOOT
Incorporating Bullet Drop

Every projectile must abide by the laws of gravity. When shot, it will always drop down based on the distance it travels.

The velocity and trajectory changes per weapon, so in this example we are still using the Ranger .243 with the Argus 8-16x50 Rifle Scope.

With this shot we aligned the bottom crosshair with the centre of the target. The bullet hit exactly where we stated above, based on the misaligned crosshair lines, which is what we wanted.
The only difference is, we have to raise the scope to the second dot, instead of the centre of the scope. This is because we are shooting at a 300m range and this scope is perfectly set to 300m, un-zoomed, on the second dot.

COTW Companion app for the phone has a great generalized zoning for all animals. I'd highly recommend checking it out.

Areas will differ per profile, of course. So follow the general spots it recommends and collect zones from there.

Without getting into details or specifics on things, I ran a few numbers on some maps. Average population for one map, run 10 times, came out to be 3081 total population.
10 diamonds on average out of 11 different species with 3 rare fur types and 5 uncommon, on average.

If that gives you an estimate.

But I'd recommend the method everyone uses where you farm over a certain value. In my example I'll use Fallow Deer.
Keep majority of females alive, Keep 1-2 rating alive and hunt over half the 3's and all the 4's until you see more 5's spawn, Leave a 5 or two alive and keep farming 3-4 until you have roughly 3-5 5's alive then pick the best 5'er

I did this for 300-400 hours and got a great one. I'm going to test it with Red deer next to see how many licks it takes.

Me and my friend play alot and have been for a while and I recently purchased the New Zealand map dlc. When he tries to join his game crashes this happens over and over until about the 15th time it lets him join. Every other map works and has worked fine this hasn’t ever been a problem in the past. Does anyone know a solution because it’s extremely annoying and can take up to 45 minutes for us to even start playing.

personally, I think either method works. HM will grant you diamonds more frequently once you are in full swing

but I dont believe it has much effect on GO spawns

as any male killed will have a chance to trigger a GO

if you still got your old pc around just copy the savegame folder over to your new one and you should be set, not sure about epic versionn, but the steam one saves to thiss folder here:
"C:\Users\Admin\Documents\Avalanche Studios\COTW\Saves"
might be the same folder for the epic version

otherwise i guess if it won't draw the saves from the epic cloud and you no longer have access to your old PC then there's nothing to be done except starting over

So the purple spots are called 'Hunting Pressure'

and when you kill animals with frequency in a spot, the pressure forms - and basically scares animals away from it

what its encouraging you to do is to hunt all over the place and be a little selective with your killing

as too much will ruin a need-zone (where the animals eat, sleep, drink) and force them to go elsewhere

and you can have many - but the thing to remember

is that when they are darker colored, it takes more kills in other places to erase them

So basically, the way it works, is that guns are very noticeable when killing.
If you use a blind, stand, tripod, or built structure the Pressure is less because the gun is more 'hidden'

the amount of pressure on the map has a cap, once that's reached whenever you put pressure somewhere it get's taken away elsewhere, i usually just designated 1 spot for geese/ducks as a means of resetting pressure as tons of birds will hog all the pressure in one spot som the remaining maap is all cleaned up again

what gun should i save up for?
I'm more of a sniper type, i like things that can zoom in and accuracy is super important to me. i prefer waiting to hit one precise shot.
I'm pretty damn blind when it comes to spotting animals, my worst case was spotting a moose 20m away from me in a clearing. i did not see him lol.
sometimes i do shoot from very far away tho.
i mostly go for deer and moose, sometimes a black bear.

I'm still a newbie and I don't have any DLC

Use a setup of guns for every class of animal you have on a map, you should definetely save up for a 7 mm because its hell of a gun and 7 mm ammo is for classes 4-9 which means you can kill deers, mooses, bears etc. Just make sure to use ranger .243 for smaller animals from class 2-4

at least, the dog needs to be 50m away from the blind

and you need to be in the blind

and it might need to be around the time of the zone

ALSO if the flock has more than one zone they might go to the other one instead

and Revontuli is so bird saturated they're basically everywhere

Do duck decoys act as a need zone on their own or do they just increase ducks responding to calls to a nearby need zone?

I put the decoys out on the island on Rev Coast and the ducks come to the call but then land 20 meters away (this is fine) or land like 100m away on the other bit of the island pennisula

decoys act as a landing spot for ducks when you call them

nothing to do with need zones or anything else, just helps attract them to that very spot with callers

I have two sets of duck decoys about 150m apart and a blind each (both on opposite sides of the little island pennisula). Sometimes when I call ducks from one blind, all the ducks land at the other decoys.

I'll pick up one set of duck decoys for now and see if they're still landing way over that way.

I was saving for the 7mm but ig the geese will help speed the grind up

Are you using herd management? Killing males level 3+ will encourage low level spawns to appear which then in turn encourage high level spawns. Eventually you'll find a lot of high levels to balance out the pop.

Leave the 1s and 2s be and just kill the big guys until a diamond appears

Yeah I’ve been doing that. Making sure I don’t kill the level 2’s but killing everything higher. I do have numerous level 4’s and this worked well on previous grinds but this one is just taking forever

Hunt around lakes don't run around like crazy make sure to look up hotspots for animals try to unlock outposts and do missions for cash
