Ok when grinding you go back to the main menu because 1 is so everything is despawned so it will respawn good and 2 so all of the animals that did respawn will be back where they're supposed to be in their zones

You would restart the server for that same function

So really in all serious the time that you would save doing it together you would be using up doing that

But if y'all could get in a rhythm or figure out the fastest method for you both y'all could do it really fast

but as for killing animals goes, you gotta make clean, quick kills with proper ammo in 2 shots or less for max points

It means you are moving to quickly/too loudly and they have noticed you and are telling each other but don’t care at the moment when you see that you crouch or go prone and move towards them when they make the noise again but it says fleeing you’ve gotten too close and they’ve noticed and are running away at that point just leave

What are the differences between grabbing hollow point ammo over full jacket/Polymer tipped

I know the hollow point expands more but what effect does it have in shots compared to having more penetration?

if firing 150+ I find pen is better

personally I just buy polymer and drop things pretty quickly regardless

It changes the way you hunt. With soft tips you have to be a lot more accurate than with the polymer tips since you won't have the penetration. Its just personal preference really. In my opinion, soft tips take more skill or just takes more time with having to be extra accurate

Well the way I see it, yes. Obviously with the polymer tips and ammo types alike, you can get the penetration through heavy bones like the scapula, but with the soft tip types of ammo, you are gonna have to be way more accurate to completely avoid the more dense bones and thicker flesh areas

Honestly, I haven't worked very much with it at different distances. I used the soft tips when I first started playing and was having some major difficulty getting the accuracy so I switched to hard tip ammo. I will gladly test it out over the next couple days to see though. I might have a better chance at getting valid info now that I have experience hunting and my accuracy has tremendously improved lol

my experience so far has been wherever the game puts a buildable stand, you can bet game walks through there

not always and it changes based off of your hunting pressure but I've had pretty good success building a few of those and waiting for game, sometimes I just wanna chill in a stand and listen to the wind for hours but mostly I wanna stalk shit

another thing I noticed is, hunting pressure only seems to appear when tb3 animal dies. so if you hit no organs and it may bleed for a while, watch for hunting pressure to pop where you shot it to see if itz worth tracking down. if no hunting pressure pops the animal didn't die.

I found a fix for the problem with grainy shadow/light textures on weapons and foliage. DSR - Factors (Dynamic Super Resolution) in the Nvidia Control Panel did the job for me. Just upscale to 3840x2160 (2.25x DL). Change the resolution in-game (if it doesn't work after the first game start, just try again; it applied after the second time I started the game). The grainy textures are still noticeable in very rare cases, but in most situations, they are completely gone or not noticeable at all. I spent three days trying different stuff, and nothing worked, but finally! A crisp, clean, and super sharp game. I hope this will help someone as much as it helped me and save some sweat and tears. @fierce wave

I think that technically it is able to respawn as soon as you harvest the first one and then get out of render distance. The fastest way I think is to just change the time. Never had to do it more than twice to get respawns back

dunno what maps you have, layton lakes was really good to me before I bought DLC, if you want xp just shoot whatever you see, male, female anything, predators give better xp than deer and what not, so if you can get kills on them you get good chunks

story missions also give big xp too. and so do side missions, so you can get a lot by doing the missions on layton lakes and shooting anything you see in between

BTW, I just killed 7 gray wolves in the recovering teekon forest, towards the outpost you rebuild, they were chasing a herd of plains bison in the wee hours of the morning, 5 AM, one shot will get them to stop chasing the bison and growl at you so can take your shots, then they will move on to whatever and you can track and hunt them down at your leisure. wiped out the whole pack lol

but if you're gonna buy a dlc Map, the Yukon is a really nice map outside of the .300, I believe you get a free .300 from doing the Yukon story missions but don't quote me on that. the animals are really fun to shoot, the map is beautiful and I haven't had any shortage of animals to shoot. grizzly bear, wolves, caribou, plains bison, red fox. all fun to hunt. plains bison are just dumb and slow but if you wanna shoot a big guy or gal, they're it lol

PSA: don't shoot lions while they're drinking in the Savannah. they fall into the water and then take forever to float to your position lol

also, if you're struggling to aim with a controller on console, set your right stick deadzone to about 10%, it's my sweet spot for really fine mouse like control of the joystick. mess with it to your preferences but lower dead zone helps a lot with finer control of the cross hair

yeah you won't regret that .300 at all, I promise lol. moose don't run too far with a lung shot, and if you're close you can get a double lung shot. my setup is .243 with soft point for class 2 and 3, FL Sporter .303 for 4 to 6, and 7 if I'm feeling it. and .300 for 7 to 9, have no issues at all. don't have anything for class 1 but I can just swap them out when I wanna go after a class 1, but I don't really care about them anyways so

fair enough, all good. I didn't really specify that very well to begin with. and it's pretty early in the morning lol.

test out that .300 if you bought it. moose are tanks so anything really doesn't kill them super fast. but a heart shot with the .300 will down them after like a split second run lol. even with a heart shot they don't drop on the spot. they run a tiny bit before realizing they're dead lol. bison are also tanks. Grizzlies will run a little bit with a single lung shot and you'll get like an 80% bonus, double lung shot drops them pretty quick, both lungs plus heart drops them on the spot

plus, chep the .300 has 80 accuracy vs the LRR .338 having 38, meaning you'll have much more aim wobble and harder time placing shots with the .338, recoil is also 100 on the .338 vs 90 on the .300, not a huge difference but means you can follow up better on the .300

There is a Video, Flinter did 4 months ago, testing both weapons. You can watch this, if your unsure yourself. Its called something like .338 vs .300 comparison. Its pretty helpful and easy to understand.

And for weapons i would use the Malmer 7mm for animals up to class 8 and for 9 i would use the .300/.338 or the King. The Malmer is pretty strong, it can kill a moose fast but struggles at a bison with only a single lung and long tracking time.

their loud as all fuck,so expect to scare away any animal within 300m of driving them, I only use them when I don't care about ehat I scare, for example driving to outposts or lookout towers I want to unlock, you can't summon them from inventory, you pull them from garage at either your tent or a camp outpost, and once you get off them they stay there so if you hike away and want to get back on it, you'll need to pop your tent and pull it from garage again

nope, not every animal will make any sound whatsoever. some will just flee at the moment they hear you, and will give no audio clue at all, fleeing or warning calls

I feel like it's just rng that you get an audio clue. but I don't know for sure, I know I've tracked animals that were walking, and then gave no clue but all of a sudden ill see run tracks in the chain of tracks

I've also shot other animals in the presence of other animals and can visually confirm they bolted but got no audio clue at all

well, if you think about it that you're only shooting one or two animals at a time, and there's a huge number of animals around at any given time, it kinda makes sense. I don't pay too much attention to the scared animals, I harvest plenty lol, I'm at 387 and 16k animals scared by noise lol. much larger than yours, I think I care less about scaring away everything because I still shoot plenty, I look for the big boy tracks that show the highest range of weight when I find them and decide whether or not I'm gonna track it down because it can potentially be a diamond/great one

I missed a diamond wolf by .50 yesterday lol. I'm not positive on that one, I believe they can if you can't walk through them but possibly not. I know if taken a shot at deer kinda in the brush at a range where I shouldnt miss and completely missed. so I assume the branches stopped them in that case. that's a pretty good plan. both species have great ones so if you stick to hunting them you may find one. but here's my thought process on diamonds, I'm not gonna get too hunt up on getting them because it's really rng. it will for sure be a nice surprise when I see one though. I missed a mythical lion diamond yesterday by 1 point also lol. two really close animals.

yeah I just don't do night hunting at all, and black bears like to chill in thick ass brush so they can see and smell you long before you see them. I usually just wait to find tracks of a big one and then stalk it until I down it. but if you manage to find their rest/eat zones you can bag em easier. glad you found a method of hunting that works. I'd recommend going on the reddit and grabbing the info graphics of each map you have, it shows all of the animals and their eating/resting/drinking times. so you know what time to expect what animal doing what. like this. I have all of these saved for the maps I own

yes, you get up to 8x, easier to sight in those 150m to 200m shots, if you want the long shots the Argus or whatever with 8x to 16x(I think) is best but then you'll also need to account for bullet drop and aim accordingly. I just generally don't take shots longer than 200m if I can help it. my longest shot though is a 343 meter vital shot though without the perk. and nothing against rhe zeroing perk at all I just don't want to bother with adding that layer to my game. I just wanna sight in an animal, aim and shoot

dunno about maps but check each lake and find drink zones, you can shoot 3 animals from a drink zone before its deleted and I believe 15 with a blind, tripod. and their easy targets. oblivious as heck and will try to come back and drink despite their dead friend right there

yeah, if you delete a drink zone from a herd it will just go find another drink zone. I shot a plains bison at one drink zone and then followed the herd as they decided to roll out to another one and found them drinking at a completely different lake. all animals have to do their basic needs so if you do delete a zone, they find another

welcome,happy hunting! another tip I didn't really know until later that would have helped a lot, a warning call doesn't always mean you're detected and the animal will run. it just means they changed to alert status, you can drop into prone once you see it, wait and if you don't see another warning call or you see them stop, you can try to still sneak up on the animal

I used the scent religiously when I first started playing but have since stopped carrying it and haven't really noticed a big difference honestly. carry weight is a premium

just reposition if you can so your wind direction isn't in the direction of the animal you're tracking and you'll be fine

for reference, since I've started playing my animals spooked stats are 18k by noise, 370 by eyesight, and only 78 by scent, so you can kinda see how little scent seems to matter..of course you'll want every advantage if yoire tracking a big boy such as a legendary or great one

you don't need the range finder at all. I do have the level 3 binocs but what I did before was spot the animal, then open map and mouse over the spotted animal icon, it tells you exact distance in bottom right corner of map and then you can place a way point and close your distance that way

once you hit spot on the animal you can place a waypoint and it will be within a few yards of the animal. yes the apexview is worth it to me, pretty sure extra level of zoom and sometimes it's nice to have the built in rangefinder already on it so you can get an accurate reading well beforehand of the distance, I still place waypoints though becuase I'll forget rhe distance almost instantly lmao

not about the sights. bullet has arc. so your bullet can travel higher than you aim if you don't compensate at short range. but if you compensate for bullet arc everytime then it's not a good perk. I'm telling you. I thought the same way. until I started missing shots that I never missed. it WILL happen.

if you compensate you'll be fine, but there are shots I know I did everything right on short range and long range beyond the medium zero and the game put the bullet not where I aimed. it's up to you, I don't think any other active perk is worth it. if you use shotguns probably those but if you mainly use bow at short range, then probably just the bow stuff plus breath control and steady hands in rifle is mandatory, outside of that, everything else I feel is just. meh

with bows probably not. I've taken plenty of shots where I aim exactly where I always do on a lung shot at 50m and the bullet hit the spine. meaning it traveled higher than I aimed. plenty of times. my personal experience. I don't believe bows have the same issue becuase bullets in real life travel up before falling.

thatz the entire reason guns are zeroed in the first place in real life. to compensate for rising and falling of the bullet arc.

yeah if I forget about my zero it can happen, I try to always change my zero back to short range after I take a shot though. it really comes down to player cognizance lol. I got attacked by a pack of wolves and panicked and realized after they ran after a few died to not vital shots that my zero was still at medium range. but without the perk your zero is at medium range by default. I've just had better shot placement since I picked it up and only missed the shots where I failed to aim in the correct place horizontal on the body instead of vertically

if they are showing actual need zones on your map, then you need to wait out the entire time. animals won't automatically be there because you sleep to a certain point. animals show up all throughout the entirety of the time their supposed to be there. I've observed this with several species becuase their actually actively traveling from their last need zone to that need zone.

they have real time pathing from one zone to the other.

they don't just spawn at their need zone, their actively moving about the map as you play

you can find a herds rest zone, and then follow that same herd to its drink zone. or a predators rest zone, and it will be at its eat zone if it's the right time of day

to give you an idea of what I mean, I have a tripod and tent set up on a lake in yukon that has 6 or 7 grizzly drink zones at 2000 to 12 at night, they will show up at this lake all throughout that time, I'll literally get there and set up at 19 50, and watch them come in to drink, some don't show up until 2200, some 2300

I usually wait until about 2350 before I start shooting, to give the big boys time to show up before I scare them off

Well if you are 4 days in and have 2 diamonds and an albino you are doing better than a lot of people. You will have a few initial spawn trophy’s on every new map you get. Explore your maps and try to spot every animal you can. This should help you find your initial spawns. After that shoot higher level animals and you will increase your chance of spawning new diamonds. Remember shooting a male will spawn a male, and vice versa with females

Red deer is amazing for this

Predators are also amazing because they give a lot more weapons for a kill (1 fox gives 75 on a perfect kill)

is the zagan varminter that comes with EC powerful enough to take bobcats with quick kill and soft points or is polymer tip better for class 2 and 3 on that rifle? I've been using polymer tip for everything but the class 2 animals seem to get taken out just as quick with the .243 soft point. looking for opinions from those that use the rifle for the intended class, I won't use it for tier 4 as I have my .303 for that

I'm literally trying to do this right now and it's super frustrating, I shot one coyote and the second one REFUSES to show up. I've been trying for 2 real life hours now, sleeping multiple times to around 1900 to 2000 and it will not show. this mission is awful.

it literally says they stop at the lake for water but the first time I tried this I waited out their whole drink time at the lake and not one coyote stopped to drink. all you can really do is have a jackrabbit caller, cover your scent, try to stay as quiet as possible and out of sight. coyotes are stupid sensitive to anything so you really don't want to spook your chance..

I want this done so I can move on to shooting Mr Black and see what he spawns as

Try going to the zone 1 hour after it starts or it prolly got spooked. Don't run when your atleast 200 m from the zone

if its not time for the zone, then yes. Also sometimes they have to travel from far away so they show up like 30 mins or more late to the zone

Holy crap,finally finished this. had to reat multiple times until around 2000, both times I think were around 2130, here's where both coyotes were shot. so look around there, for the first one I was at the lake and noticed tracks and called it in, the second one I was on the lookout tower hill and got a warning from sound and called it in too. there were two of them when I shot the second one. hope you get them. that was the worst mission up until this point and I thought waiting for the bull elk in Calburn was bad.

yeah that dlc helped a lot, try to get to the base of that lookout tower around 2000, and use tour caller until around 2130, that seems to be about the time I've spotted them in that small section
