Check Event Viewer,go to windows logs and you should find a message why that app crashed and everything, try doing "sfc /scannow" inside command promt "run as admin", maybe you have corrupt files.

Some animals do take a while to reach their zones, if you have a tent near it, maybe try setting the time 30mins to an hour into their zone time

The .308 is very good. The best 4-8 rifle in terms of general accuracy and firepower is the .303, but not many people use it. Regarding follow-up shots, the .308 or as @tribal ledge mentioned the M1 are a bit faster than the .303.

But these are generally the three 4-8 rifles I'd recommend (along with the Eckers 30-06 maybe), while the others all have considerable drawbacks (the 6.5mm and .270 are both a bit too weak for the 4-8 class rating imo, both can struggle towards the higher end of the class range)

It's good but not essential. The 22LR AR is good, but the Virant 22LR is better then the 22LR AR from that DLC (10 mag capacity vs 5), the .223 is useless (.223 is useless in general imo, not just the AR, it's just that the .243 (range 2-6) is better than every 2-4 gun), the .308 is very good, rivaled only by the .303 and the M1.

I'm personally using the 22LR and the .308 from the AR pack right now and I like both very much, but as stated above there's alternatives for both, which are even marginally better, so you don't need that DLC, but if you can afford it and want to play around with some ARs, go for it

Hey guys, When EW did the update and dlc a week or 2 back, did they reset some things in the game? I have spent weeks and weeks doing a red deer grind on te awaora I had got it to a point where I was seeing a lot of 8s and 9s and now I'm going everything from level 2 to 7 again! No more 8s, no more 9s! it feels like everything has gone back to the beginning, like I have to start over.

1. A lvl 3 isn't automatically a diamond, it could still be a gold, that would be called a troll (max lvl that doesn't make diamond)
2. The appropriate ammo is necessary to retain the highest possible trophy rating, meaning you can shoot a lvl 3 Turkey with everything rated for class 1 (22LR as in the AR, Virant, Pistol which use 22LR, 22H with the Kullman or birdshot from any shotgun)

i think that system is weird, encourage indiscriminate killing to get what you want in the end, seems like the oposite of what a hunter should do

Hey guys, You know with the fallow deer you can get close to them, then shoot one with the Vasquez Cyclone .45, wait for them to settle a little, shoot another, wait a little, shoot again, and so on. Is there a similar thing you can do with red deer? I've tried the Vasquez, but with no luck and I don't seem to have any better luck with a bow! Just wondered if there was something I could do to increase to number of kills when shooting at a herd?

Could someone please give me some advice on how to use need zones effectively? I find a sleeping/feeding spot. I arrive 30 minutes early, sit in a bush, place a stand, hide and wait, i take my phone and just sit afk for 30 minutes, coming in every 5 minutes to listen, look around, use caller for animal, nothing ever happens. Time passes when the zone is no longer in use, and I have not seen an animal. This happened 3 times now, Im not sure what to do.

oh, and one difference COTW has from Classic: animals generally don't one-shot you, as you have a health bar. But it's always a good idea to keep an emergency defense weapon on you, the best option being the free .454 handgun

How do you go ahead with the skills section. This is how it looks for me currently, and rn i have 1 skill point to use. What were your strategies when you unlocked, and where do you think should I go for as a newbie.

I went Locate Tracks 3, Track Knowledge 2, and then Soft Feet 2. My goal was Soft Feet 2 to make my general life easier. After that I'm working towards Pack Mule.

This will be my eventual set, but I'm also still new with 80 hours.

Killing more than 3 animals in one place will delete any needs locations because of hunting pressure building up. New replacement will appear and need to be discovered.

You can build up pressure slower with bow kills and tripod stands

Click on the active skill (green) you want and set it to active. You can only have one active at a time

Creating hunting pressure elsewhere on the map reduces all previous hunting pressure

It's a passive effect

Green skills require you to input an activation and I think that the rest are passive (always taking effect)

Crouching and prone firing are your steadiest.

Also are you pressing Shift to engage the breath hold mechanic or are you just firing??

Because if you aren't holding your breath, honestly that would explain a lot

@proud mauve Generally using a rifle but I occasionally whip out a pistol or shotgun. I used to use bows a lot till they killed it by giving it spook range both from where it was fired and where the arrow lands.

Happy when it Rains and Tag you might not need. I don't have anything for visibility reduction and I can sneak up to almost anything within 50m in full daylight. You will also have the ability to outline animals while aiming on them with your weapons. A few points you could put elsewhere for skills.

Survival Instinct is something that you usually shouldn't need. Either you place killing shots, are shooting from a distance, or have medkits.
