You probably spooked them, try going off, hunting elsewhere, let a day pass and come back sneakily.
There should be two live bisons in the middle of that area that spawn specially for that mission. And spotting them it will tell you 'sick bison' instead of just 'bison'.

I've found some online but they're usually "shoot stuff and they'll spawn" and don't really go into detail. Basically, you keep a very large number of low level animals on your map which encourages higher level animals to spawn

There is certain lakes that whitetail drink at, but it's RNG based whether you can have one be an 'initial spawn' (Initial spawns are basically a set of animals that are on your map from the beginning) but it is rare to have that. Your better off grinding for the GO.

Though I’d recommend .303 or .30-06 for classes 4-6 and then the .300 or .338 to cover classes 7-9

Not-so-jestfully, I recommend the .454 'Pistol'... Best self-defense weapon againse Wolves, Meese, Bears and Buffaloes...

But if you're set on rifles, I suggest you get two, one for deers, and one for bigger game.
Personally I favor the Sportster from Te Awaroa, marvelous against animal classes 4-6
combined with the .338 Rangemaster for animal classes 7-9.

Do birds return w/ their flock to the same needzones like everything else does? I caught a lvl 5 Canada Goose taking off with his flock from a need zone, hoped to see him come back same time 'tomorrow' but so far looks like new birds chilling there each time. Am I doomed to never find him again?

Im trying to manage my red deerherds on TA. My herds are full of 3-5s but im only getting 3 or 4 7+ each time i take my route. Is this normal or should i start taking out a few 5s? Checked everywhere else there could be drink zones and theyre full of 5s too.

I was being attacked by wolves and sgot a few first was a diamond (my first wolf diamond) and I didn't have enough to tax it and I panicked and didn't click save, I went to the lodge before I picked the other ones because I remember seeing it's only the last one that you can recover, when I got back i couldn't find the others
