the reason Winchesters typically aren't scoped is because they eject straight out the top, where a scope mount would typically sit. Marlins however don't have that issue, which is why they're the go-to for being more flexible rifles

that's not to say a Winchester CAN'T be scoped, it just takes a specialty side mount to do so, or a long eye relief scope mounted in front of the action
