it's why i don't use the 44 mag for grinding
if a 150m zero lands at 300m on the first mildot, many of my shots being about 200m, means I'd have to hold about 35-40% down towards that first mildot, and a few percentage points off is all it takes to hit a vital or not
the time it takes to calculate that correctly also means I'll typically only get one shot
with 30-06 weapons I mostly use, at 200m I'm basically setting to a 150m zero and still aiming for behind the shoulder, makes it easier to hit multiples before they run
where I think the air rifle has some potential for class 2-3 stuff is the fact that you get better accuracy with those mildots, and the other animals in the herd don't get spooked, so you have all the time you want to make your second and third shots
