1. Go through every single lake and river there is, look at pro xck maps to help. Set up tents etc.

2. Identify the animal levels per zone

3. Shoot all mid-high level males and leave dime potential ones alone

4. Repeat the process

5. Once certain herds or solos are low level, leave them alone for eternity. Once a diamond potential spawns also leave them alone until like 80% of your males are low level

6. Once 80% of your males are low level, you identify all the males that make up the 20% (most of which are dime potentials) and relentlessly shoot them until a great one spawns.

FYI. My method may differ a bit to others and its more specific to solo animals, but it works pretty damn well.

So I have to ask a serious question. What happened to the game? Who made the decision to change to be more like Way of the Hunter. I played this game many years ago, but due to my eyesight I could no longer play. Well, after surgery and shots and meds, so on and so on, I've returned to the game. It is nothing like it was. It use to play like a hunting simulator. You have to be afraid of aggressive animals. Since when is a Black Bear afraid of a lone hunter? All the animal behavior was pretty much spot on. Why did they change them? The only issues I remember were graphic and quests bugging out. Both of those are still in the game. But what made this game a gem, was the animal behavior. The animals lived in their surrounds. Now they live as if they are walking along side of you, and see what you see and are doing. Ranges are way off. Since when is the effective range of a .243 rifle only 164 yards? Who changed the ballistics of the weapons in the game?

While there’s an active deadzone they’ll avoid it but cuz they’re solos, they’ll bounce to your other lakes, and you can shoot them to have them return to the original ones

German shorthair pointer - tracks class 1, class 2-5, or class 6+ and when max leveled can track specific species. Great for dense maps if you like sneakin around lettin your dog find ish

Retriever - retrieves any class 1 species after you’ve killed it. Great for waterfowl especially

Entirely dependent on play style but all very helpful if you’re into those things. Lol

Most of the weapon packs is almost the same, and base game weapons actually pretty good. If you are looking for pack with maximum diversity in classes, you can buy weapon pack 2, because of drilling and magnifico.
Or hunter power pack for malmer 7mm magnum.

But personally, the most "important" dlc pack which you can possibly buy, it's ambusher pack.

It is my most consistent grind in awhile

focus on finding all the zones first then both of you half everything and shoot the males down

look into herd management

you can get the blue line with binoculars and switch to the rifle, but the perk not requiring you to use binoculars first is so good to have

i recommend to use the quad if you have it, faster to check the areas & you can hop off and set up the tent & blind fairly quick, i haven’t tried to shoot them from a distance, which is something i wouldn’t suggest because you could botch an albino
