Most guns only really have a range of 150m the game itself was made in 2017 so the rendering isn't very good

yes but there are loads of animals that render in at 300 metres/400 metres with the naked eye, an example I can think of is bighorn. But others, like the ones I mentioned before, don't render in until 150 metres and can be only seen beyond that point with binoculars.

Also the vast majority of guns go out to 200m-300m zeroing so that's just untrue.

The animals that don't load in until 150m aren't like smaller animals or whatever, which I wouldn't mind because they're harder to see anyway. It's like random arbitrarily selected medium-large animals like black bear.

I know its an open map but think of open world games like a running machine your casually moving but the map and animals are still spawning in a rendering circle of say 300 or 400m

also the weird thing as well is that the draw distance ingame is based on the horionztal plane itself and not a set distance from the player so if you can technically see stuff rendered out to like 600m in vanilla but you need to have a large enough altitude difference

also honestly the Devs just need to outright make a new game rather then trying to optimise the engine for newer hardware and more grand world scaling which of course they didn't really have the intention to but would probably be more hassle then it's worth

tbf performance has never been an issue on my end, I feel it runs really smoothly for how high fidelity it is. It's just actual limitations like weird caps on render distance that annoy me.

I wouldn't really call it high fidelity they get away with just having the most aggregious LOD scaling ever that makes the immediate 20m area look stunning and everything past that just disappears or loses detail

like most tall grass renders out at 50 meter and it is NOT smooth
