You can also use higher powered weapons for example white tail is species lvl 4, the 7mm mag rifles can do lvls 4-9 so its kinda over kill for any species lvl 4-6. It'll do more dmg and make them go down quicker while passing the harvest check

.30-30 has access to bullets up to 190gr that on top of that are soft and hollow points that expand well and do significant terminal damage

x39 does keep energy better at distance and has lower drop thanks to a better ballistic coefficient tho

its just definitely not something i'd ever take hunting for elk
