when i hunt grant caribou i always check how uneven their antlers are, and i kid you not, it is much rarer to find grant caribou with NORMAL antlers

the layton lake missions give you 2 diamonds btw

I highly recommend the DLC that has the Drilling Rifle (Weapon Pack 2 for $3.99 USD usually), that gun lets you hunt literally every animal in the game (so long as you're not picky about optic variety); it can get 1-9 tier by just changing out what ammunition you're using so long as you have the time to do so. As long as you have well-placed shots, with the Drilling Rifle and an emergency sidearm (in case you can't reload fast enough for pack predators), you're covered.

Because it's a combination gun (double barrel 16 gauge shotgun with a 9.3x74mm Rimmed centered rifle barrel underneath the two shotgun barrels) and only allows for one optic (which comes with it in the DLC, a 3-9x44mm scope), it's lightweight, so it lets you carry a lot of other stuff if you like lures, stands, decoys, blinds and all that. I typically play raw with whatever gun, binos, and a tent, and stalk the prey with a Pointer or Bloodhound, but I could see the Drilling Rifle as super clutch for those who want to carry a lot of stuff on them without a noisy backpack.

Yes, do the intro mission, then that if you want. Most of the reserves intro missions ARE doing that for your first watchtower (by interacting with the sign up top) and first outpost (by interacting with the flagpole) to get started, but not always.
