Pointers can technically follow animal tracks with no blood but its not in the same way a bloodhounds does. It'll just sniff out that track's species, not a particular individual.
Example: your bloodhounds follows the bloodtrail of a wounded fallow buck and will continue to trail them even if the blood stops as long as you dont call him off.
Pointer will pick up the scent of fallow deer tracks and find any fallow nearby , doe or buck.

its one of the best maps for capercaillie imo
