Also, I highly recommend the .45 Air Rifle. Even if you're messy with it, deer won't run. It allows you to take as many deer as you want in a zone.

Yeah the safari lodge has a ton of trophy mounts capable of taking class 8-9 no problem. There are still small mounts you can't use, but you can hold over 100 moose.

Honestly I don't mind trolls. Its nice not to have everything given and a gimmie. And I feel it does add some realism to the game. When scoring huge bucks the slightest difference or imperfections and symetry can totally change the class of the buck. They fight! And it's brutal injury and broken horns and antlers are common. Many of people have shot a #1 world class buck that would have went next year or the year before but not this year due to damage.

A 215+ looking buck can easily drop to under 200 because of scoring factors.

Oh man. If you kill an animal and don't harvest it, it has a chance to swap herds with other animals. If you're culling males of the same species in other areas, you could end up with your males and females swapping places. Harvesting prevents that, if you don't want to intentionally move males and females to different herds.

Yeah I'm okay with that just need the doe herds off the main shooter lakes. Which accomplished but these herds with 5 bucks would be allot more beneficial on the mains. That I was attempting to swap them with the does. So they swapped just not with each other I take it?

It can also be an upside! You can shoot a solo male and leave it, then a female in another herd, and there's a 50/50 chance they swap places. By doing this carefully you can curate your herds to have specific male/female ratios.

But you could also get lucky on that 5th wheel solo drink zone spawn and get that solo to swap with a large herd and adding a herd drink zone to the lake.

Not exactly. Low levels are likely to respawn as low levels and high levels are likely to respawn as high levels, so shooting low levels is generally an exercise in futility. It's best to leave them and shoot better animals.

There's also the theory (which Herd Management is based around) that if you leave low levels and shoot high levels, the overall population level average of that species will be lower, and therefore increase the chance that the animals you shot will respawn a bit bigger rather than a bit smaller.

Though, absolutely none of this applies to Great Ones, specifically. All males of a species that has a G1, can respawn as a G1, at any time, as long as you harvest the animal. If you do not harvest, and just kill and leave it, it cannot respawn as a G1.

Thats interesting because the way I think about hm during set up. When I have a max level on a main. Im thinking that max level is way more likely to come down in level than keep it. So leave it for now. And when I'm shooting mid level/high in exteriors I'm thinking it's more likely to spawn as a 2 or 3 than a 5. Which is why I will always recommend to shoot down your exteriors 1st because it's allot easier and more likely that it's going to come down than hit max level.

Yeah that should be the 1st thing you do is discover all zones. 2nd thing is aquire 16 tents. Pick 8 of those zones that only have 1 male or are a pain out of the way and start shooting them down to level 1s.

Yes, all weapons that don't immediately spook will do this.

Animals have stages of Attentive, Alert and Alarmed. If you shoot while Alert, they're likely to become Alarmed and run. This is also why some folks aren't able to hunt ducks at long range with the .22lr; they can't wait 5 seconds between shots and spook the flock.

You CAN shoot while animals are Alert without making them flee, but you need to let them stay in the initial Alert phase for a few seconds before shooting to do that, and dialing in that timing can be tricky.

Ok after doing some testing I have come to the probably wrong conclusion that the ranger .243 is a 2/4 masquerading as a 2/6 and the .270 stradivarius is a 4/6 masquerading as a 4-8.

Ranger .243 polymer rounds are horribly underpowered on class 5-6 game. You can drop targets twice as fast with the free soft points if you can make a good shot.

But even then, it's immensely underpowered compared to the .257. The only real benefit to the .243 is free ammo and being surprisingly quiet compared to all other class 2+ firearms.

I've got an in-depth video demonstrating round types and their efficacy, and the .243 is the first caliber tested. It's perfectly serviceable on class 6 but not ideal. Class 5 though? No problem. Just need to place good shots.

Same with after an animal has spooked/been shot at. Allot of the times if you don't go run after your harvest and they cant see or smell you and aren't spooked after the inital alert and run off and bit they will normaly return rather quickly if you have the patience. Lol so much of that is so true in this game.

Lung/liver them and it's ideal. I use polymers almost exclusively for frontal shots, and don't worry about double organ polymer shots.

If the animal is at a position to double lung with pen I can triple organ with expansion.

That being said, I think the drilling rifle is the only rifle that can fire 3 shots at basically the same time with boomstick and you swap to rifle round fast enough.

Even spamming left click on other fast firing guns wont fire the 3 faster iirc.

So whatever you were aiming is going to just drop dead without moving after the 3 instant shots.
