One thing that youtube videos never touch on. If you shoot an animal and you're worried about having to chase it around for ages and there being a chance that it didn't even bleed out, just watch the map for a purple circle (hunting pressure zone) to show up, that means it died and you can go follow the tracks

I was struggling for hours when I got the game and this helped me out a ton

It's achievable within a couple hours from what I've seen with people.
Spamming doesn't work, but consistency is key - so if it's taken you days, something isn't right.

None of the dogs are mandatory, but the bloodhound is actually helpful and arguably better than tracking yourself. The retriever is a gimmick but works well when it works, and I can’t speak for the pointer.

As for maps, yukon valley, silver ridge peaks, medved taiga, revantuli coast, and emerald, and the recent canadian one are all highly regarded but it’s ultimately a question of what you’re looking for out of them

Flat render distance is 430m (give or take), and with elevation you can technically extend it, but by how much I can't say. Some sources say 600m at high elevations but I've literally never seen anything not disappear at 450m, even at high elevation.

Well for a decent loadout, e.g for a class 1 weapon, and class 4-8 you could go with the Modern Rifle.
If you want a dog, then depends if you hunt birds or not. If birds then retriever, if not then maybe pointer.

U have to harvest a moose downed from a hunting stand in willipeg but it only has 1 stand in a very dense area and not a single moose passes here
