Oregon is mostly Pine Forest, Desert, and some Rainforests on the coast. If anything Layton looks like the Fraser Valley region, which does stretch down into Northern Washington, straddling the border with BC. There’s a pretty high moose population there so that’s where I choose to believe Layton is.

This game fully doesn’t require guides beyond the tutorial. All it really requires is occasionally looking at maps to know where to hunt, but even this isn’t necessary most of the time as merely exploring the map or using logic (they all need to drink eventually) will usually lead you to animals

@cold mulch if it helps the game is very challenging at first dont let that get you down. this was the first shooter my girlfriend ever picked up so i learnt a lot about how hard it can be. just take your time and theres no rush! there are a few little bugs and glitches to do with missions but overall the target of the game is to go around and get animals you like!

dont let the beginning beat you down the learning curve is beyond steep but i promise you the things youre struggling with now are most likely the only things in game you will need to ask for help over unless you encounter a bug ❤️

okay so honestly one thing which may be beneficial is to go to outposts/lookouts and unlock them. unlocking lookouts will show u where the outposts are. you can fast travel to outposts when unlocked and when you logout youll spawn at the nearest one!

acc ive been wondering about respawns. when animals respawn is there a chance their trophy rating goes up, or a chance their level goes up and trophy score randomly goes within the levels trophy band?

The specifics of that would go into data mining territory , but essentially the game attempts to keep a balance between levels
If you had loads of level 4 fallows on your map , you’d be more likely to spawn smaller deer and visa versa

If you shoot indiscriminately that doesn’t really have as much of an effect

Herd management is the manipulation of this balance to spawn in larger animals

And it's not smart to start a grind if you don't have all absolute zones

A herd managed grind , no it’s not particularly helpful , a regular grind it’s fine

You will never know if you have all your zones or not , but as long as you have consistent respawns then I see no issue

It’s always worth sweeping all drink zone potential locations both during and after an animals drinking time to see if you can spot anymore but obsessing over having everything can lead to no progress

Animals that only have feed zones generally you just choose some nice easy zones to shoot on anyways , if it’s a large widespread population good luck trying to manage it

Sometimes I’ll do some very half arsed herd management just as I naturally shoot down zones , if it wasn’t in a spot I liked anyway I’ll just leave that zone and not worry about it , I’m not gonna lose sleep over it

and you unlocked 30

even with consistent respawns between the 30

the animals will now, during killing, have achance to go to the unknown 20 zones.

As long as you’re shooting males of a species you’re progressing towards a great one spawn 😭 there’s no way to “ruin” a grind , you can make it more efficient with careful setup but ppl can choose to do it however they want

No grind is halted because there’s some deer who chose to hangout elsewhere it’s just a minor spanner in the works in terms of efficiently if you’re literally min maxing your grind rotations and takes some time out of your day to go and find em ! but that factor alone isn’t gonna cause everything to tumble down , you can still continue with the grind even with the “worst” setup ever
