oh yeah tree channel would be in non discussion
non-discussion not meaning "discussion isn't allowed here" just "these channels aren't conducive to discussion"
as is what i always meant by non-discussion if that was misinterpreted
I’m not Spex but pretend I’m using his chef’s kiss emoji

Thanks

i forgor

I think that, no matter what the tree channel gets named (plant gang 🤞), it should probably be another role opt-in next to counting
From each according to his ability to water, to each according to his need for fruit
okay

can’t wait for the plant gang role
that’s what the role for the tree should be called
If not the actual channel name as well
Yeah this seems very logical to me
it was quack who suggested having a marbles category
so it's mostly a retooling of what i had before with the bot channels split off and some community channels in the common room instead of all the marble channels in the common room
i dont like the jmnews category being being beneath other discussion categories but is that something people think is good or are neutral on
\7]]='
[p;'
oops
i did not mean to send \7]]=' or [p;' i was wiping my keyboard
i'll also say that i personally don't understand why #general and #off-topic in the same category would be redundant; having #general and #general-2 in the same category seems like it would be much more redundant based on my understanding
i like off-topic as a channel since it's a familiar naming convention to lots of public discord servers i've been in the past, even if it is in essence a second general
\7]]=' [p;'
also bonus points for the if it is in combo
i've only ever seen general and general 2 in the same category in servers that have gen 2
to me, it seems more redundant to have the same channel twice than to have two slightly different but still similar uses
i believe the intentioin was to use off topic for general overflow though
from my experience, naming the second general channel slightly is pretty common room
i mean i'm not set specifically of calling it general 2 but i don't think it works very well to call it off topic then have it right under general... like off topic of what?
but i've also seen regular-ass general two tons of times
and if it's going to be the general overflow channel, the name off topic really doesn't tell you that
i always got the impression that it was called off topic because it was the main channel of the off topic category, which doesn't exist anymore
so it could stand for a new name
maybe i'm only in really weird servers then
perhaps
i would prefer it being above common room but i haven't had a problem with it where it currently is
having it separated from the discussion channels was satisfying enough
for me it's inconvenient to have a category between two sets of channels i use often
it's a lot more scrolling
yeah for sure
that's my main issue with all the channels in common room currently
well maybe not main but it's up there
where is the kobalts appreciation channel
so like you'd want Common Room and Community co-located?
Okay I know the changes are pretty much done but I do think putting “spoilers” back in the title of #jmr-media would be nice
(I feel the same way)
I’ve spoiled myself on several races because my primate brain goes “ooh channel with unreads” and doesn’t see the word spoilers there
I feel like channels that have spoilers should have that label, unless it’s something like #standings where it’s implied
#spoilers-spoilers
should we hide spoilers when nothing is going on? probably extra effort but just a thought
i often search back to look at conversations about stats and results, so it would be kinda annoying if those messages were just unfindable some of the time
fair
you can also choose to hide it for yourself via id:customize
or just right click and "remove from channels list" (i did this)
it isn't that big a thing tbh i just keep clicking it like a bozo
for mobile, you can also tap-and-hold the category or channel name
on a channel, if you're following the channel category, first you have to choose "Unfollow Channel Category" and then you go in to the menu again and will have "Remove from Channel List" as an option
following the category makes it so you auto-follow any new channels added to the category
both of those steps can also be done from id:customize, whatever is preferred
you can also mute a channel and then select "hide muted channels" which is a useful alternative for if you are weird like me and want to split your hidden channels into two distinct groups
totally valid
love all the options
I wish Discord would let people re-order, too
and like toggle between custom and server order
til you can remove channels from your channel list. Up until now I had just been muting the channels I wasn’t interested in but it was annoying because they were still there taking up space in the list
