a while back i posted a redraw and recolor of an SD shining gundam, that got me inspired to try painting one custom. I dont think im going to do much painting stuff long term, but if the mood strikes me i might revisit it.

i mean, the resident char clone of the series is calling herself "Lady Prospera"
the main Gundam is Gundam Aerial...
among other whole-plot references to both show and play, it's, well.
its looking to be an amazing mix of chaotic plot threads

A convention I went to had featured such a competition, with categories of clean, repaint, and custom builds.

built a bog standard Demi-Trainer (From Witch From Mercury line), and gave it two longswords from a couple different Iron Blooded Orphans kit
also, the chest stickers are supposed to be monocolored according to the instructions but screw that, PINK N BLUE CHEST STRIPE IS A GO
i also put leftover silver sticker behind the eyeplate to make it SHINE

due to some stiff and fragile plastic in this Wodom Pod kit, i was forced to improvise new weapon arms
so i took the shoulder shields from an R-Gyagya and put them in,
i think if i buy another wodom pod im going to make sure it's a reissue and not from the original print run T-T
this one is just all kinds of awkwardly stiff in the joints
still, i made it kinda cute with these shields

idky why, but my brain basically went 'mech spider + robot girl = robot mech spider girl'
ironically the connection isn't possible at this angle without this joiner piece from a third kit.
which is the part meant to do this exact sort of thing but with a robot horse
while yes, i can do the connection without it, there's not enough space for the arms to move without coliding with the legs and body
the hair part clashes too, without it
i could also do a more proper 'human torso instead of spider head' centaur mode too,
but i wanted the double head chimera-ness

i stay subbed to the channel and keep watch for when series i havent seen come along
in recent years theyve cycled through G-Gundam, Turn A, Double 0, 08th MS team...
theyll probably cycle around through that eventually.
they also sometimes have movie months/weeks where they put up basically a whole bunch of different Gundam Movies
(I watched Reconquista in G through the movie compliations as they aired on the channel XD)

if you see them up, the classics i personally recommend are:
G Gundam, Turn A, and 00 (Double O)
the Reconguista movies are... probably best served after watching Turn A if you can get lucky like that.

G-Gundam is my personal favorite out of all of them
it's just so much fun
00 takes second place favorite after that,
oh, the Build series are fantastic (except for Metaverse, apparently, lmao), but i especially recommend Build Divers and Build Divers Re:Rise
and yeah, Build Divers is kinda more kiddy compared to Re:Rise, but Re:Rise does some plot twists that recontextualize everything and make it a lot more impactful

Ooo I will do so! I just started G Gundam (only the first episode so far) and I'm really liking it! As someone who Loves seeing what the average person experiences in premises like these, the focus on that was great. Like yea! It would suck to live in a town where giant mechs duke it out!
