Hi,
I’m looking to see if there’s interest in starting a laid-back, community-driven Valheim server focused on homesteading, and cooperative village life rather than hardcore progression or min-max play.
Think of it more like building a thriving Viking settlement than racing through the bosses.

Server Details
Region: North America (West)
Type: Dedicated personal server
Mods: None on server-side. Client-side mods are allowed as long as they don’t cause issues or unfair advantages.
If a concern or annoyance arises about personal mods, we’ll put it to a vote — simple as that.

-Expected Player-base & Atmosphere
This will be a very casual run. While some late-game progression may happen to unlock exciting building materials and recipes, the main focus will be community, creativity, and chill vibes. I'm personally 33, so i expect an older playerbase.

Recruitment will be selective, not to gatekeep but to keep the tone aligned we want players who enjoy cozy, social experiences over grind or competition.

-Deterrent (for the Hardcore Vikings)
If your ideal Valheim run is high-speed boss progression, ultra-efficient farms, this probably isn’t the right server for you.

I totally respect and even enjoy that playstyle from time to time, but this world is designed to slow things down and draw out the homesteading, community, and aesthetic side of Valheim.

If that sounds too tame, you’ll likely have a bad time here.

-Characters
Personally, I don’t want to restart my character’s skill progression, but I understand some may prefer a fresh start.
We’ll vote as a group on whether to use existing characters or begin anew. The goal is to find what fits best for the community vibe.

-Boss Progression
I don’t think we’ll need to gate bosses until Moder, but again, this will be open for discussion.

If this sounds like your kind of adventure, drop a comment or DM me! I’ll start reaching out once I’ve got enough interest to form a small, like-minded group.

Interested. Dad here so my play time is limited to a few hours per week. I love the casual setting of building and progressing slowly. Also a new player (only beaten first boss solo so far).

I turn 60 this month. I play as slow as they come, and am always lagging behind people who just want to zip on to the next level. Just looking for some relaxing friends and some relaxing gameplay with no rush.

Id be interested, I love gathering and forging for loot so this would sound like alot of fun. id also push for existing characters since ive only ever used one character from launch.

nice to see there is some interest for this style of server! I can start it up here in a bit. I'm thinking of having the death penalty as low as it it can go, and keep gear, but not items on death

I'd also like to know what everyone thinks about resources? standard rate or maybe 1.5 is what i think would be max

i would be fine with that my only concerns would be map, resource, and difficulty settings
i prefer to go with a resource rate of 2.0 or higher just to make gathering overall more enjoyable and feel a bit more rewarding and having no map just gives me a headache so would highly push to keep my map and for difficulty normal seems to be the best i wouldnt mind hard as i am experienced but easy just makes the game feel like your playing on creative mode with no challenge what so ever

I can keep the difficulty the same, i just think losing multiple levels in the 90s is super frustrating, particularly in situations where lag is a part. I think the lowest setting is where u still lose all your progress towards the next level and anything over level 50 you still lose one, but the default setting is very high for some reason lol.

They have the exp lost on death and actually combat difficulty two seperate settings, thankfully.

another thing i thought of after reading the post over again would voice chat be required or preferred because id much rather talk in a voice chat then type in game

I'd be down to join I'm 23, but I play pretty slow and just enjoy the building side of survival games a lot

Are you thinking of a map or no map setting? Personally I like to do no map to force myself to go slower and be immersed in the world, and smarter about placing paths, and points of interests.

But no strong ties if everyone else wants maps

I'm interested, but I'm curious about boss kill rate. I'm normally the last player on a server after everyone else has left, so I'm down to take my sweet time, but I also like progressing through the biomes so I can unlock crafting and building materials.
