yeah I wouldnt do something with no maps or portals. wouldnt mind it being a little more difficult for a group playthrough but that just sounds tedious. lol

it just makes you more mindful. we updated a hand-drawn map each day with new exploration. only thing is we had a guy who wanted to play 18 hours per day and be 2 biomes ahead of everyone else.
i'm good with vanilla everything or slightly modified, so long as the server itself is not modded. new characters, no bringing in resources from other worlds, yes?

it's just an extra hurdle for people to join. i typically play with a few client-side mods, i just don't want to use anything that affects other players and vice versa.

Lol yeah. I helped someone else set up mods on their server for hours yesterday, and by the time they got the server working, I realized I didn't have my file paths set up right in the mod manager so I couldnt join. Then I logged on today and they already had a huge village, had defeated bonemass, etc.

been playing solo for maybe 15 hours on this guy, just made a karve an hour ago. found the elder a week ago, not planning to kill him any time soon.

I may not want to go quite that slow but I definitely like building up, having things organized and base layout optimized, etc.
