My tentative plan is to start Thursday evening depending on how many people we get. Mods are fine as long as the group agrees on each one. I was thinking just V+ with only a few of settings on to start with. Please read the entire initial post to make sure it's a good fit for you. Honestly the greatest thing i learned was copy buildings from videos or photos until you get comfortable then start applying what you remember or have done to what you are doing now. I don’t build in my free time just when I have to or I want too so most of the time it’s using some sort of base of something I have seen and altering it slightly, not everything has to be equal so one side doesn’t have to reflect the other so windows can be two different shapes or in two different orientations and try not to build just a singular square I find it hard to go from a simple square to something good

I would be interested, i like to build my base/gear up as I go along, take advantage to get all rest buffs I can and food stores bulked up before i explore to next biome. pitching in with a community would also fall along these lines.I dont like being left behind or find out all my locel resources been used up before i get there 😦

I don't think Valheim is very well suited as a typical community server unless you change a lot of the settings around bosses, raids, and resources. Something like Ark Or Conan Exiles does it way better. The server I'm trying to get going is a handful of people that play together regularly with everyone hanging out in voice chat. If we can't all play for a couple nights, then it just takes a little longer to finish the game. People can get on and build or whatever on the off days. I generally just play another game if the group isn't on. This won't be a good fit for anyone who plays 12 hours a day or is not a team player.

I am also willing to share the world save files if you decide to leave and do your own thing, or if you just want to be able to keep the base you've put all that time into.

@sweet vale I'd rather keep it 30+, but I have seen some 25+ servers advertised on here. @pale finch I think client side mods would be ok but we'd have to discuss them first. I've seen building mods cause issues in other games but I'm pretty new to mods on Valheim.

yeah i reread the post and saw the mod discussion part so i edited my post, gizmo would be the only building mod. aaa_crafting and craftyboxes are just so amazingly handy. clock is nice too xD

I saw some big game changing mods that I'd like to try at some point in the future. For this playthrough I was hoping to get a good group going that would be willing to continue when the next update comes out. Since updates tend to break mods this server would need to be vanilla-ish

yeah for sure, i play in several heavily modded servers (70-150 mods) and they are a lot of fun but tough to balance.

If I'm being honest my real goal is just to find some friendly people who like to joke around and play video games together. Survival games are good for that since they take a while but don't feel like a second job like an MMO. If we manage to finish Valheim, that's just a bonus.

Mods that I like:
Clock
Being able to use the portal with all ores
Plant/harvest in batches
Extra resources as well be a group
No skill loss on death

Just to name a few that help with a more pleasant gaming experience

Yes, tomorrow. I'd like to at least get everyone connected. The only thing game changing I see on your list is the portals. I actually like that idea but the group would need to agree on it.

I’d invite everyone that is in the group to a dedicated discord and start planning time to meet up (at least majority of us)
Also discuss mods so we can hit the ground running tomorrow 😉

It depends on how you want the server to progress. If you want it to be more chill and build friendly buffed resources, no skill penalty and portaling ores make sense.
If you want it to be more of a grind and meaningful then I'd keep the penalty and not portal ores.
I'm doing this more for the social aspect and good with whatever the group wants.
I've never played with a clock or batch farms but those sound very convenient.
