world modifiers is an option they recently added. Allowing you to put in hardcore mode, get more loot etc 🙂

"vanilla" is a colloquialism in the gaming community for "without mods"
for valheim specifically it has been widely used in reference to game "difficulty" since mods tend to ramp game play and "vanilla" is commonly accepted as "no mods".
so the question of "what world modifiers?", now that the "vanilla game" offers such options, is completely valid and requires clarification.
