Forgot to mention the server stores characters on the server, so a fresh character is a must for everyone that wants to join - We do this to prevent players from bringing stuff from their singleplayer worlds.

Whouldn't this mean that once someone joins with thier singleplayer (old) character destroy thier character?

You simply cant join without creating a new character, if you try the server will kick you off with the message to create a new one.
