Hello guys, I recently started playing modded Valheim and I keep getting a Unity log error. I tried reinstalling all the mods I have but it didn't work. I'm using the r2modman program for mods. Any advice? This is the error: " [Error : Unity Log] ArgumentException: The Object you want to instantiate is null.

this started appearing after I updated the Odinshipplus and Farmheim mods yesterday
If you playing online you have to pay for these two mods. Maybe that is why.
But it worked normally before the yesterdays update
Disable those two mods and see if the error goes away. If it does, remove them and replace them with other mods.

That looks like an out of date or broken mod. The error doesn't specify which one(s).

may help find the old mod(s). Otherwise you'll have to disable them in groups or one at a time to find the broken one(s).
It's not a good idea to interrupt your server's startup. Although it may not cause any problems, if you're lucky.
did you delete the config file for farmheim before you launched again?
Also, problems in your startup .bat or .sh file options can create that error.
Make sure the world and the password options only contain regular English characters and that the password is 5+ characters long and doesn't contain the world name.
One or more of the mods is causing an issue.
- When I start the game, an invisible character named Ragnar appears.

install the BepInEx pack from Thunderstore https://thunderstore.io/c/valheim/p/denikson/BepInExPack_Valheim/. BepInEx has to be configured for Valheim and this is the community supported pack

If there aren't any portal mods that let you bring them with you, you could always use InfinityHammer mod to save one on your hammer and paste him back in at your destination.
ye theres no progress on this server just doing a fresh setup so i just keep uninstalling and reinstalling the newest version on both the client and server for whatever changes i make, both jotunn versions for client and server are on 2.20.3

Cool idea, but playing on a server without mods, so I uses only client sides mods only.
I want to use Creature Level and Loot Control. But I cannot find config file. So I downloaded also Official BepInEx ConfigurationManager but when I'm in the game and trying to change anything but every possible option seems blocked. I cannot even swith Lock Configuration from On to Off becouse... It's locked. Any idea where is the problem or conflict? I have mods installed on my server and client using gtxgaming server.
You have to let the mod run once to produce it's config file. Then it's in the BepInEx config folder. Go there to edit the options. Unless you downloaded it as part of a modpak and in that case it might be in one of the sub-folders in the BepInEx config folder.
It's called "org.bepinex.plugins.creaturelevelcontrol.cfg" and.. have you added yourself to the admin list in the server files?

Hello, i am using Dathost for server hosting. We do use Server save characters, and one of the players had the game tell him to make a new character, so he deleted that character and made a new one with saved name. He lost progress and wondering if there is a way to restore that previous progress?
Get on the server files (saves/character_local), and just change an autobackup name.
It will read Steam_(SteamID)_Name_auto-####.fch, just delete the "_auto-####", so it will now read Steam_(SteamID)_Name.fch.

Deleted? No, never experienced that without explicitly doing it myself.

You probably should put in a ticket with DatHost to see if they're doing something that would have that effect with your server characters. Give them as much information as you can re: how often it occurs, time of day random or regular, always all characters or just some randomly, etc., etc.
Just for clarification, you do have ServerCharacters installed on the server, and each client has it as well, correct?

Been a while since a played modded. Reverted back to the normal version of the game (from PTB), and downloaded a double handful of mods from Thunderstore. But can't get it to launch. Do I need to launch once with just BepinEx or something?
Check your launch options in r2modman and it's game location under the Settings menus.

You're explaining different things, one when server-host has the mods and the other where clients have the mods but not the server.
Some mods have version checking so they work only if everyone has them.
FIrst there are 2 kinds of blueprints, InfinityHammer and 2-PlanBuild.
You can place both kinds with InfinityHammer, but I'm not sure if you can place IH blueprints with Planbuid, you'd have to make them compatible.
And location where to put them - the folder where Valheim exe is there should be BepInEx/config/PlanBuild/blueprints by default.
yeah so i found that file area where to drop the build files, when i watch a video and the guy downloads a build, he gets an image file, .blueprint file, and a .vbuild file. when i press download i only get the .blueprint

Check the versions of everything including Bepinex version.

the mod pack is 68 and by looking at that screen shot the player sent me he shows 65 up top. i can get into server with mod pack and not admin settings

Ok so what versions does server have for Warfare, Monstrum and others?
I assume you have a player modpack and admin modpack. It doesn't matter but admins can use any mods and skip the checking by Azuanticheat.
right i do have two mod packs and removed myself from admin to see if it was me just passing it by, but i still get in ok
Question remains, what could be different between a working modpack and the one that the player is using.
Sometimes the modmanagers have hiccups. I would recommend first having the player delete the profile entirely, and then downloading it fresh.

You're using or have used vortex in the past. It installs broken files. You will need to completely reinstall valheim (or successfully delete all the offending files), you have to manually delete mod files in your game folder. After fixing you can install mods manually or use the thunderstore mod manager or r2modman is what I recommend.

You will want to do a clean install, use r2modman or thunderstore mod manager.
This video covers a clean install of Valheim and using Thunderstore Mod Manager or R2modman.
Often people run into problems after an Update to Valheim if they install mods manually, or they used Vortex not knowing that Thunderstore is the better option. This video helps to start modding Valheim right.

If I were you, I'd first move the world and character saved files to "Local" using the game startup Manage Files menu. Then, you can make extra copies of them and have them whenever you might need them in the future.
The world and character files are in a totally separate folder from your game and mods folders. The default path for them would be ...AppData > LocalLow > Irongate > Valheim. In that folder you'll find the worlds_local and characters_local folders with the saved info there.

Vortex doesn't work well with Valheim. You're better off deleting and reinstalling the game and your mods. And just starting over with thunderstore.io's mod manager, r2modman, and reload all your mods with that.

That seems odd to me. Are you trying to change the config from inside your game with the F1 configuration manager there?
If that's locked, then you'll need to use SFTP file transfer to bring the config file down to your PC, change it manually there, and upload it back up to the server afterwards.
Just make sure you get it back up there in the right folder where it's supposed to be.

Me and my friend have a server we reasently started and added mods on it. To begin with it worked fine, but we got a issuse with the host and the server stopped working.
Turns out the few mods we used made the server stop and had to get support form the server hoster.
Would like to know you’re experience with mods on servers.
As long as you're using up to date mods there's no issues.
Only add mods to the server that needs or can be there so no client only mods.
Some hosting companies require you to go through them to install mods rather than letting you just install any mods you want whenever you want. Follow the hosting company's instructions about installing mods.
Hosting companies may want this control over the mods you use on your server because they consider it a security issue. I think that's a reasonable position for them to take as long as they made it clear what the rules were when you signed up for their service.

Howdy folks, I just noticed I suddenly dont have specific armors/weapons in my inventory. I specifically discovered flesh rippers are mysteriously missing. Everything worked fine until I had a weird glitch about ten minutes ago where my entire crafting window and upgrade window went blank. After a full quit and restart of the game it appears flesh rippers and I assume some other stuff are missing. Any mods with a reputation of doing that? I have quite a few popular mods.
It was the Warfare mod. Seems like an update caused some issues.

looks like something jacked up some json file for epicloot, if you installed a modpack, try reinstalling it to a new profile in r2modman.
you may have some old ass files in your config folder that conflict or something

Looks like ashlands but the terrain isn't high enough to have land 🤔 Maybe the settings for their map don't match your own? Are there any other weird places?

Mine are dropping tails, although not every time.
You could use the CraftyBoxes.yml file to exclude Food from pulling from assigned containers. In your case, you would want the prefabs for all containers in your world.
Edit: Now that I think about it, Food would be what is already cooked (aside from maybe berries and shrooms). You would have to exclude all the ingredients to prevent cooking it, and that might end up being an issue when crafting other things and you actually want to pull.

I oppened this file but have no idea how to do it.
Instructions are within the yaml, but you're going to need the prefabs for your chests and ingredients that aren't crops (as Crops is a predefined group). Save a copy of the default yaml to another location, then delete everything inside the original. Yours will look something like this:

- Crops`
Then you'll have to do that for each chest you want to exclude Crops coming out of. Keep in mind tho, whatever you eliminate won't pull for any crafting recipe from that chest, so maybe define a particular chest for food ingredients and keep some items that you want craft with in undefined chests away from your cauldron.

No. You get the console by putting the -console option in your Steam Client's Valheim General Properties game launch options. Right click on the Valheim icon there, choose Properties and look under the General options.

Launch the game with the thunderstore launcher but select Start Vanilla to see how the launcher works without the mods and make sure it isn't causing the problems. As long as you have the -console option in your Steam's game properties general launcher options, you should get the F5 console in game.
Then, check each of the mods for their last updated date and make sure all the mods are updated as of the Ashlands game version. Remove and/or replace any that are too old and broken.

When you go to thunderstore.io, join the Valheim community, and bring up the mods page there, you'll see the last updated date for the mod and it'll say for the Ashlands game version at the bottom of the mod's icon there.

On a server, you need to be an Admin and have the ServerDevcommands mod installed on both the server and on your game in order to be able to use commands in the F5 console. To be an Admin on the server, you need to have your SteamID (the one with 17 numeric digits) added to the server's Adminlist file. It's along side the server's worlds folder.
Am I not already an admin if I run the server?
No. The only Admins the server recognizes are the ones in it's Adminlist file. Period.

Go to your Steam Client and your profile there should have in on one of it's pages there. It's also along side your characters name in the F2 window when you're on the server.
The server's Adminlist file is along side it's worlds folder. What kind of server is it, where is it located?

The ESP mod lets you find the spawners but does it also let you delete them? If not, how do you delete them?

What do you mean by 'sacrificial stones waypoint'? Is that the little stone with red writing on it that tells you where the Eikthyr altar is?

I can't tell from your posts exactly what happened or what's wrong. I'm guessing that you might have accidently deleted something with a mod. You can try fixing it by restoring the world with one of it's backups.

It's kinda temperamental. It is on the server correct? Sometimes just a reboot of the server does it. If it's still being a pain, I usually turn it on clientside, log in, then it works again. I turn it off before the next time I login.
My experience with that mod is a little different. I've used it for a couple years and on several different servers and it's always been stable and dependable. Never any problems at all.
I've used it for over a year and it's been stable for me too. Once I got it installed correctly, which was the fussy part for me.
It usually works, but every once in a great while, like after an update, it gives me fits until I correct it. Then it stays stable. Idk lol

The setting is kinda empty .. according to the description, by default it should show stuff only within certain radius and by choice, have it permanently on the map ..
But I have it permanently by default, which is something i dont want, some icons cannot even be deleted .. so wonder if the mod is wrong or something else is necessary ..

Go to the thunderstore.io website and join the Valheim community there. Download the BepInEx mod loader and the ComfyGizmo mod.
Install the BepInEx mod loader per it's instructions. Read them carefully and make sure you install BepInEx and it's files and sub-folders in the correct Valheim folder. Then install the ComfyGizmo mod in the BepInEx plugins folder per it's instructions.

For some mods they need to install them, too. And they may need to be installed on the server as well, if it's a dedicated server.
But, I think that ComfyGizmo doesn't require that, although they wouldn't be able to use ComfyGizmo, if they didn't.

revert back to old update, put all your armor/mod slot items back in your "vanilla" inventory, then update back to latest update

they are probably rolling back their game version in steam for now if they are using v+
I resolved everything by logging into a local world, dropping all the stuff in the chest, logging off and removing all mods. Then, I updated the client, logged in naked, the world did some "generation" and I logged off again.
Logged in again, but with the minimum of active mods such as AzuInvSlots and grabbed everything I had back. DONE!
PS. In my case it was the backpacks mod causing disturbance.

There was an update to valheim, the mods you're using have not been updated yet so you should probably set the game to Default_PreBW in your steam game properties under Beta

It may or may not be a solution for you depending on your personal circumstances re: mods in use, server type and location, etc. You'd have to consider it, decide whether it's worth the effort to try and maybe have a go at it and see if it works for you.

The Mod worked before today, and I want to play with ValheimPlus which doesn't work anymore today.
Basically, if I can play like I played yesterday pending update of ValheimPlus, sounds good.

If someone accidentally spawned in 2 bogwitch camps with the command "location bogwitch_camp SAVE" is there a way to take one out without mods? Or do they have to use something like Infinity Hammer?
Infinity Hammer. Toggle "Remove Anything" and just break it down like you would any other build piece. Advise to toggle it back off, so you don't delete something by accident.

Good evening all. I have been using some mods for building and I have been working on something for a few months. Today I tried to log in and my screen is messed up with random textures. I read that there was a recent patch and that might be the issue but I turned to the previous patch and my modded offline server where I built says bad version. Any suggestions?
Yea sounds like from my very NOOB understanding that Bog Witch is having issues with Mods. My Mods Conflicts are BETTER UI / QUICK STACK STORE / MULTICRAFT / EPIC LOOT / STAMINA EXTENDED. (Awesome Mods by the Way ) so Im just going to wait it out until Awesome Mod Makers Update them, which I'm sure they will. So my advice is Patience, give the Mod Makers some time and space and be rewarded from their epic work soon.
Exactly! And if you want to play with your mods while you wait for them to be updated, you can roll back your server and/or game to the game version before today's patch. (It's in the Steam client game and server properties 'beta' sections.)
Roll back the server? depends on the hosting. My current is streamline and they have no such options for BogWitch update.
Yes, that's an unsolvable problem. The only thing I can think of might be for one of you to get a copy of the world from the server host Co. and run it locally temporarily for a couple days. That's a hassle but I don't know what else you could do except wait for the mods to be updated.

Do mods disable PVP damage in anyway?
Does anyone know if GPORTAL updates the mod frequently (yesterday was patch), atm i loaded the game with valheim plus on thunderstore and the game files got added automatically to the server (gportal config). Sadly i can join the game but there is nothing to see from the mod (tried with epic loot aswell). Is this purely related to the new update?
The vanilla game itself enables or disables PVP damage. There are several mods the let you customize how it works, if that's what you mean. You can find them with a search at thunderstore.io. Choose only those that are updated for todays game version.
@dense mesa So if another player and I are using various QOL mods and choose to cross our swords and strike each other .. why are we gaining sword skill levels yet we do damage to each other?

Maybe your armor is protecting you too much? Try removing some of it.

If his friendly fire damage is turned on and he's naked and you're hitting him with an iron sword, then I'd say it's pretty likely it's one of the mods preventing PVP.

I just tested this while reading. If my partner has their friendly fire off and i have mine on, i can hit them and do 0 damage but gain skill progression still as well. mods removed

Not today in particular. Maybe power down the PC and restart it and your game making sure nothing is running in the background like anti-virus scan, etc. Your local network access ok? You can open up your browser and do a speedtest on that.

If the FPS drop persists, check to see if it's all over the world or just in certain spot(s). Also, are you running with any error msgs from out of date mods, maybe?
lol ive spent the last four hours trying to get my mod pack working right, i was afraid it was something in there but i guess ill just have to wait and see if the creators update it. i know better archery, and equipment slots were breaking the game, then craft from containers isnt working. its honestly kind of a mess.
Yeah, it sounds like a break would be a good thing about now. If you're usding r2modman to manage your mods, it's really easy to disable them one by one to see where the error might be.
And also r2modman makes it easy to visit their web pages with just a click or two to verify whether they're updated yet or not.

If you can't think of anything else that has changed overnight, then it has to be an outdated or broken mod. As you know, when the game version changed, a lot of them broke waiting to be updated for the new game version. Occam's Razor applies here as it does most places.

Mods often break after a game update. The changes in the game code that are needed for the update don't always work in every mod. So those mods need to be updated by their authors to comply with the new game coding.

Yeah, just go to your Steam Client's library and right click on the game or server icon, select properties then beta. There's a new 'beta' item there for the game version prior to the bog witch that you can choose.

Okay having searched for Equipment and Quick Slots, Azumatt mentioned they created a similar mod AzuExtendedPlayerInventory, which I copied the .dll file into place and everything's working properly again :))

hey, replying to rickfurlan5400. if you havnt explored all your map, then you have a chance to find the NPC. (Bog Witch) when Hildir came out, i had trouble cause i had already explored most of the map. i found it easier to make a new map. but it was hard to say goodby to my old builds.. there is a Mod that will force the new NPC on your map if you explored too much of the map like i did.
just look for its name in the log and disable it.

This would be a good time to move on from ValheimPlus by using other QOL mods. Go to thunderstore.io and join the Valheim community there and you'll get lots of mods all sorted by their most recent update so you can easily find ones working for the current game release.
Xportal mod also doesnt work which requires the Jotun files as prerequesites

You know you can restore a backup of your character, when you need to, just as you can with your worlds. 🙂

hey I play with about 20 mods on r2modman and after the bog witch update I saw a pop up on r2modman that said some of my mods had updates so I clicked update all, now all my characters are bald, completely white and I can't join any of my worlds with any of my characters, has someone troubleshooted something like this?
when I click to enter the world, multiplayer or not, nothing happens, there is stuff happening on the bepinex log but I don't understand it... I'm trying to disable some mods 1 by 1 to see which one is causing the issue...

one or more of your mods requires an update still, you may want to check "last updated" if not updated in the last 30 hours you may want to disable what ever mod to test. enable it after it's updated.
go back to pre bog witch version and wait until most of the mods will be updated. thats how we did on our server.

Is OldFeatherCape by Jumbo_Frame working? Saw it was updated 2 hours ago but in game my cape does not state it increases jump height, just that it reduces jump stam usage
I cannot craft from ANY crafting tables post update. I will have all the materials in inventory, inventory space, the crafting sound will be made. But that's it. My crafting level is 6 if that has anything to do with it. Almost all my mods were updated with this update and I use very few. Someone please help! I can't repair gear either. Once and item breaks I have no way to get it back. It's with cooking too. EVERYTHING IS BROKEN

You could try turning off mods until it works again, or load up a vanilla instance and repair all your gear
I mean turn off one mod at a time until you identify the one causing the issue
or maybe start with only the framework mods and add them back until I tbreaks again

Alternatively, go through every single mod and DISABLE them, then add them back three by three until something breaks. Once that happens, remove one by one until it works. Rinse and repeat.

i found multiple doing it so...
also had odin horse break it and almost all of therzie's mods that i was using also broke it, and for some odd reason PortalStations also broke it
easiet way i found to find broken mods was to turn them all off then start testing them in groups and if a group breaks it then narrow go from there you could do groups like 20-10-5 and just keep checking half of the group each time
makes it faster the checking each one by one

Hi everybody! I'm asking myself if I am the only with this issue. I usually play with mods and with the BW update, I have an issue where i cannot craft from workbench, forges and others. It works in vanilla but doesn't work with only BepInEx and BepInEx configuration manager. Everytime I click on Craft button, this error is thrown. It doesn't work on my server neither on my local world. Does anyone have an idea on this ?

That screenshot above is not of a 'only BepInEx and BepInEx configuration manager' crafting menu. So the error msg shown isn't either.
I'd suspect one of the crafting oriented mods needs to be updated.
This plugin is made by Azumatt, it is not official but with 345k download, i would assume it is validate by the peer
you are right, the screenshot is with more mods that are working, but i tested it and got the exact same error when I had just BepInEx and BepInEx Configuration Manager
well, Azumatt also is part of the Bepinex Team and updates that on thunderstore for Valheim, so he is permitted to call it official 😉
however, it would be strange for the config manager to cause errors itself, likely a mod that is being configured with it that is the root of the problem.
I see that it wasn't updated in the last 6 month, worth a try without it though

You could try rolling back your game to the previous version. You can do that in Steam library right click on game or server and select 'betas' the option is in there.

I used Nexus in the past for Skyrim, but then the owners went insane... lots of things changed. Now they are Vortex, yet not as same as it was in the beginning. I advise against Vortex. That's just my opinion based on the history.

Also, try to not use too many mods that change the world drastically.
QoL is enough for living.

and yes, the mods that are not compatible with the current patch are mostly enviroment and location mods. Recently updated Item and mob mods are safe. (also craftable building)

if you still happen still happen encounter the missingmethodexception text on your command prompt, likely try redownloading and add them by 1 or batches to see which mods are defect(or causing the problem)

Thezie does say : It's recommend to remove your old Therzie.Armory.cfg from your config folder and let the game generate a new one on startup with new updates!

Hi Community, If we have not fully explored a map, will the Bog Witch populate in an enexplored swamp or do we need to do soemthing to force spawn the Bog Witch
The Bog Witch will populate in your existing world's unexplored swamp all by herself.
The game should put her in there all by itself but it's nice to know that, even if it didn't, there's at least one mod out there that would let you do it manually.

ya i found a few that will stop teh game from allowing you to play mods from Therzie but they just updated, AdventureBackpacks v1.7.6 , Hildirs_Buildable_Pieces v0.0.8, OdinTrainingPlace v1.5.3 , SeaAnimals v0.2.6, VALKEA v2.2.0
Any idea why I can craft without having all components (I tested it and it works, notable mods are probably AzuCraftyBoxes and Recyce_N_Reclaim, all latest update) ?

Disabling AzuCraftyBoxes fixes the issue, so I assume it's a bug on their end :/
Are there any world modifiers set on the world you're playing on? You can see them in the F2 window while in the game.
Do you have debug mode on or any modifiers that affect crafting on?
I'll check, I've just restarted with "Quick Stack Store...etc" to see if that works, but I don't imagine it's a debug setting since it still doesn't work if I'm missing the item entirely
F2 shows no modifiers
yeah if it needs the items in your inventory then it's not debug mode
If you have access to F5 devcommands, you can see if the "nocost" toggle is on or off by looking at the selection of items craftable in your crafting menu. If it's accidently on, toggling it will turn it off.
I don't, but since disabling Azu's mod fixes the problem I assume it's the one causing the issue :/
also I'm stupid Quick Stack Store doesn't do crafting from containers, I'll have to find another compatible one
For posterity, I had to replace AzuCraftyBoxes with CraftFromContainers by rendl and AzuWorkbenchTweaks (which also fails to hook after first launch) with AutoRepair by Tekla (last updated 3 years ago but still works fine)

Judes Equipment, MapSyncPlugin, and BuildHelper are also older mods so double check those - they may not work

with those disabled for now I was able to load into your profile without any errors, just warnings from RTD stuff but that is normal
I think KG plans to update later, there is a fork of legends you can try, not sure about the rest though like mapsync, that is 3 years old
also, sometimes loading into a world takes a while if it's updating that world with new locations.

please send your log file from BepInEx/LogOutput.log. Although, it's likely a problem with a mod that was not yet updated for the latest patch

I mean it works fine is what I am getting at, there is some other reason it didnt load, check the logs when loading into the game - might be incompatability or something.
found a really interesting mod issue, on either modded dedicated or modded solo (not vanilla). When using the workbench for repair, i can only repair once. If i say drop my axe, repair a club, then pick up axe and to go repair, the repair icon is greyed out
also found that it does't repair all your items. my bone pickaxe didn't repair, nor a flint axe. i went through my 33 mods and seems to be with Professions v1.4.3 by Smoothbrain

should just be able to got to settings, then click the browse profile folder (opens windows exploder) then go into bepinex then plugins
you'll have to find where your directory where dedicated is installed but should just be vaheim_dedicated (or whatever you named the folder) bepinex, plugins
copy/paste from thunderstore directory to dedicated

@pulsar dew we are hosting a dedicated server and ive added my modpack too the server but it says that the server doesnt have 3 of them on it and when we disable them it says that valheimplus must not be installed? any ideas how to fix this?
I guess you will have to remove ValheimPlus from your game or maybe add it to the server. Just a guess. I don't use ValheimPlus, since it was abandonded by it's authors a couple years back.

No, they shouldn't be. Although, the server may require them on your game when they're loaded on the server.
Or the server may require that you don't have them on your game when they're not on the server.

I get it, V+ is pretty easy to use being an all-in-one, but also many find they only use maybe 4 or 5 settings from V+ so it is a lot of patches and overhead that you can replace with modular QoL mods that specialize in just the changes you want. Is anyone having a problem with construction? When you build it, you don't use up the resource, but when it breaks, you get the resource?

@autumn stratus howdy howdy! thank you for all your hard work on everything for us! i just wanted to let you know of a possible issue. I believe that when I use the Advanced Editing Mode of the Perfect Placement mod, it causes an issue on objects. After using the AEM on an object, then destroy it with the hammer, the object then only drops between 25%-50% of the build costs instead of 100%. I also am still occasionally experiencing an issue where global grid alignment randomly kicks on. when it does this, the text status is opposite of true status (the text says i am turning it on when i am actually turning it off). i'm not nearly 100% sure, but i have wondered if there's an association with playing with others and when those other players turn on the grid alignment, if that inadvertently turns it on for me too.

Did you maybe accidentally hit B with cheats turned on? That will turn off building cost, but the materials are still returned on removal or destruction

Yes. We changed nothing and when we tried to do a big launch with 20+ people, we could only log on 10 people at the time.
I reinstalled the MaxPlayerCount mod to its latest update (May 2024).
I made sure the MaxPlayerCount was set to 30.
I restarted the server several times.
Now I'm testing to see whether the community version of ValheimPlus does the trick, but it's kinda difficult when I don't have 10 other players to test with 😦

Yes, you can freeze objects and then move them around.
InfinityHammer is basically a superior version of AEM.
I think Infinity hammer is the one that lets you pick up a piece and move it, and you can use keybinds to nudge it around in 0.1 meter increments
You pretty much need to have the documentation open until you memorize the keybinds and commands
I don't even use cheats, but it's just some things that are happening

After updating my dedicated server, everything old and new gets full support (blue highlight when hovered). These are the mods I have on the server and client, but I don't think they are the issue. What could be causing this? I changed nothing else other than updating the server (via steam) and these mods

Look at the mod that loaded right before the red text. Farmgrid, Cooking, Farming, TargetPortal, EpicMMOSystem. At least the first one hasn't been updated for the new game version, probably the others too. Easiest thing is to go into steam and select the pre bog witch beta until your mods are updated

You must install them on both machines (and server if it is a dedicated one). but be aware, not every mod works with the newest update.
If you face troubles activate/deactivate one at a time until you have a working game you both enjoy 😉

yes. just type sortcraft, space and type one of the options. I chose alphabetically, which should be the default imo.

Almost certainly not. The update problems aren't in the .cfg files but rather in the .dll ones.

Deleting the .cfg files would cause a reset to the mod's default settings. But most of the mod problems right now are due to the recent game version update breaking their .dll files.

You could ask him to send you his profile as a code. That would include the mods and their configuration. If you both use r2modman.

Backup your world and character, just in case. Keep an 'archive' copy of those backups. It's likely that you just havnen't triggered the broken mod(s) problems yet. There's no way to know what might happen when you do. Therefore Backups.

It's not hard to find mods that are updated, the first 15 pages on thunderstore are updated the last few days.
Often most downloads means "most broken" so just search updated mods/latest.

I have only temporary solution for modlist I'm using, We will need to wait for mods update.
For now, I had to remove these mods:
AttackStamina, AzuSigns, Marketplace_Signs, Recipe_Description_Expansion, StackedBars and HaulersHelper made by Azumatt
CraftyCartsRemake made by OdinPlus
Blacksmithing and Cooking made by Smoothbrain
I haven't tested putting back betterUI yet, since along those errors, my UI was messed up. But it looks like it's not fault of betterUI :-)

Hi guys, need some help for a friend having issues.
We are playing modded Valheim using thunderstore launcher.
We are still using the pre bog witch default version.
We have about 80 mods installed and for me the game launches normally and I can join our modded server and do everything fine.
When they launch the game modded from the launcher, it loads a non-modded Valheim somehow.
Both the game and the mods are all on C: drive and the paths are the same as mine.
Any help? I can provide screenshots if needed
Can you send your friend a profile code so that he can set up a new profile for the server exactly like yours, including the .cfg files?
They should already have that since I sent it to everyone on the server, but I can have them redownload that if it helps. Let me have them try it
Or, if they still have the right code, just have them use it again to give them a new profile.

Just updated odinsteelworks now getting this i went and set it back to the old update and now my character is naked in loading screen and when i load in my character is not where i last left him and is spinning is there a fix to this? or did i just corrupt my only character
You can try restoring your character from a character backup just like you would for a world backup. The character backups and in the game Manage menu when you start it up just like the world backups are.

Remove your mods first and load them back in with r2modman making sure they are updated for which ever game version you're using. You probably should go back to the Bog Witch version and choose the mods updated recently (like the last 5 days or so.
Its weird i restarted my game because i was lagging a little and loaded right up and it just did that

That happened to me once. I just deleted the entire Valheim folder, reinstalled the whole game and starting adding the mods back one or three at a time making sure it worked after each time. Didn't take as long as I thought it would.
Maybe just rename the Valheim folder to XValheim so you can go back in there later and get anything you forgot.
The worlds and character files are in a different folder. So that could work.
Any modders out there wanna pick up TransparentSails? The update broke it, and it doesn't seem like there's a replacement? Don't understand how it's not more popular, how do you guys handle seeing where you're going with that big sail on the way.

Found the issue..... any of the Odin mods will for some reason stay in the folders and BepIndex will try and load them even if the .dll is gone. Just went into r2modman and went to the mods folder and deleted every trace of BepIndex and fixed my game

this is a new install. I am not migrating anything, but yes I did read it. Says it moved to a dblite instead of a yaml.

Hey guys, this isn't exactly a direct issue, but whenever I load into my modded Valheim, the BepInEx console reads a big red error message before it works swimmingly. I'm worried this might either become an issue later, but I'm also curious if I should even worry about it.

Typically yes, if a mod loads and then an error appears right after that in the log, it's that mod throwing the error

No chance. If you want this functionality use AzuCraftyBoxes mod. Its using an API from itemdrawers and does exactly what you want

Yes. ItemDrawers doesn't use vanilla valheim Container component and instead using custom one. So it cannot be grabbed without an API

You have a mod that's not up to date -- I think. I got the same error before & this was the issue
Disable mods one at a time & use order of elimination to rule out the ugly duckling; update your mods; or downgrade to the previous stable version (preBW) via Steam, then downgrade your mods that have been updated to the BW version to play
So PlanBuild seems to be broken. It installs, and seems like its going to work, but I can not direct build as a admin, even though its all enabled. Yes I am admin and debug is enabled. Anyone else see this? I get alot of errors on the client side when I paste the blueprint.
It hasn't been updated for the Bog Witch update, but the last update was 2 months ago, so hopfully it will be updated soon

It's pretty hard to help you without some info about your circumstances. Are you having trouble with mods for your solo game or server?
If you're using nexusmods' Vortex mod manager, that's got some known problems with Valheim so you'd need to switch to thunderstore.io and r2modman.

You can find your Valheim folder by looking in your Steam library, right clicking on the Valheim game or server tool and choosing Properties. Then choose 'Installed Files'. Then, you can use 'Browse Files' in there and see where they are.

Yes. Deleting the Valheim folder doesn't remove your Worlds or Characters as those files are storred elsewhere.

nah, you can import mods using import local mod or copying a mod right into your profile's plugins folder, however you wont get updates for that mod and would have to update it manually using importal local mod or copying to the plugins folder for that profile.
i need some help with fps if someone doesnt mind. my base is getting to where its only 15 20 fps. i run a dedicated modded server so i assumed that was the case. but ive been testing. i took a back up. put in my game and logged in, the disabled all mods and its still terrible fps. i made a test character. 144fps. re activated all the mods on the test character. 144fps. so somehow my fps loss is tied to the character in the game? does anyone have suggestions on how to fix this?
is there a mod or hotkey to open a mod interface in game? used to have one that displayed info and hotkeys for mods/ could change settings.

Odd to find your character causing the FPS drop. I've never run across that before.
Is there anything unusual about your character, since the problem showed up? Maybe modded special armor or whatever?
You could try restoring the character from a recent backup in case his file got corrupted somehow.

It's in the start up screens when you run your game. Alongside where you get the manage your world files backups.
fwiw this is only for game additions, the actual mods themselves have no speed difference

I have that fixed in my dev build. Bulk placement is now performed in batches and processed over multiple frames. You can plant up to 10,000 at once now (arbitrary limit I set, thought it was still pretty generous) without the game hanging or even stuttering.

Ever since the updated we've been able to bring restricted items through the portals. We never touched the portal settings, so I'm not even sure what could be the issue. Would love any advise or pointers 🐙
hmm, that is strange, architect should work, it's built on jvl and I think it just uses the piecemanager features, however some people still have HookgenPatcher installed from older installs of jvl and that could cause issues.
I actually have all the odinplus mods that I pushed updates for along with architect and jewelcrafting in my test pack. I have found some issues with odinhorse and bear, however everything loads up fine.
I recently added a feature for teleporting items through portals in Progression. Double check your settings for that.

ok so I am logged into a vanilla server rn with 3 mods running, ValheimPlus_Grantapher_Temporary, Veinmine by WiseHorror, and Equipment and Quickslots, but when I place down workbench/forge upgrade items, they have no effect, they are all stuck at level one, is there a way to fix this?
Disable your three mods one at a time and test with the mod disabled. When you find which one is causing the error, remove and replace it.
Oh, and just FYI, a 'vanilla' server is one with NO mods running. Logging into a vanilla server with 3 mods running is like being a vegetarian except for the cheeseburgers.
All of your mods aren't disabled.
BepInEx is still trying to load SpawnThat and throwing that error because it can't find it's yaml file.
its not that as iv taken it out and still get error. tho i luckly narrowed ot down faster so i may have it here in the next lill bit.
If you get errors then you have mods still enabled.

@gritty vale Planbuild is really good for this, but it's broken right now. I think Infinity Hammer has a blueprint function too, but it's all command based and takes a bit to figure it out

Question! I am new to the modding community of valheim
With that in mind, I want to install a build share/plan build mod on my dedicated server for a day so I can import. Some cool builds. Can I just import the builds and than when I’m done disable the mod and everything will be okay for people to join the server again?
I don’t want to go through the struggle of people installing mods and all of that. Just want some cool builds put into my server
You should only need the mod for the picking and placing of the builds. Once they are placed, they are just like any other building piece, all the normal stability rules apply.
Mods like Infinity Hammer, Server Devcommands and World Edit Commands only have to be installed on the admin client (you) and not the server. You can leave them installed on your client and other players can still join and play normally.
ServerDevCommands needs to be on the server.
According to the Server Devcommands docs: "Some features and commands require also installing the mod on the server (event, find, randomevent, stopevent). Install on the admin client and optionally on the server"

you'd be surprised at how little of a struggle it can be. Basically for users it becomes as simple as copy pasting a code and pressing a start button.

playing multiplayer with around 45 mods, was wondering if i can look into reverting my game update or should i just wait for mod updates, or pinpoint which mod(s) are causing it

Make sure that all your mods are currently updated with a last updated date within about a week or so. It seems like it's one of your mods that changes the UI or that adds build pieces or manipulates them needs to be updated. You could try disabling a couple of them at a time and find the problem one and then update it.
If any of your mods haven't been updated by their authors yet, you could also roll back your mods, all your games and the server to the release before the bog Witch update. To do that you would need to select the prior release beta in the Steam library properties beta options. This would need to be done for the server and all player's games.

yeah, that is a good start, get the list of mods using pieceman, check what might not have had an update since the release of bogwitch.
that should identify exactly what mod, but will take checking the pages of those mods for last updated. still faster than turning things off and starting the game 10 times.
Heyo - our group got a server on Gportal and have Bepin enabled on there, we were downloading mods through Thunderstore but get this issue for this whole grp that was updated this month. The mods work solo but not on the server even when the admin tries loading in. Any ideas?
this image is stating that the server isn't loading any mods, that needs to be fixed first, make sure bepinex is in fact running, delete the LogOutput.log file in the Bepinex folder, restart the server, it should create a new one if bep is starting up, if not that is the first step - getting bep to start when the server boots
once you confirm that the server is running with bepinex, then add your mods to the plugins folder and restart the server. - try connecting with the client

Getting this while sailing in the ocean and my game is playing like a slideshow
So I logged out to do stuff and everything had been working good. I try to log in and it's stuck on the loading into the seed and I see this. Nothing needs updated and this a new Mod world with new character that I created a few hours before the log off. Any Ideas what I can do?
TRhe marketplace and server NPCs revamped mod does not seem to bring in the prefab. I see it in my hammer, but it defaults to the girl on the ones that are dancing for some reason.
Turn off all your mods and turn back on one by one to find the culprit.

most of the updated modpacks you find are going to be for specific servers that use them. They usually aren't setup for anyone to use and some configurations may be missing. Thunderstore has a "bog witch update" category. I would create your own modlist of mods tagged with that.
I'm running into a problem with bepinex; I'm wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction on correcting this. I've done fresh installs of r2modman, valheim. i disabled my mods one by one until I'm left with just bepinex. anytime I load the game with bepinex, my character floats and never touches the ground. I'm not able to control movement with the WASD keys or controller. What am I doing wrong ?

yes. I've even tried old versions of the game. they work fine, my mods have no issues there. I've boiled it down to using r2modman to run bepinex (and no other mods), pick a world, and my character never really makes contact with the ground. only happens with bog witch patch
I've installed different versions of bepinex, x86/x64. wiped the install files clear of anything. still the issue persists

okay I got it to mostly work. still not sure what was causing the issue. I created a new profile in r2modman. the old profile, for whatever reason, was loading mods that weren't there
just as an update, warfare and crafty carts is using piece manager so ill look into those
I think I've seen a lot of people having issues with crafty carts after the BogWitch update, but having only two mods with managers like that should make the list of things to test pretty small
CraftyCartsRemake needs to be rebuilt from the ground up. It causes game crashes.

after removing crafty carts, i was still having issues with not being able to interact with items. went through my mods disabling them and found that a build camera mod was causing other issues
game works fine now with those two disabled, thanks for the help everyone ❤️

You still have at least one broken mod in there. You should be able to find and remove it and get back to your normal world.

You don't need a mod for that, you just have to do a lot more of the digging before they pop
The copper nodes are so big they usually go deeper than the game allows you to dig, which makes it impossible to dig out all the terrain support without mining the bottom half of the node

That's a good idea. Lol, check out the version history "Increased default dig depth from 12 to 20. This should be deep enough to allow fully digging under any copper nodes."

Sooo, kinda cheaty, but I used Infinity hammer to raise the node above ground, then popped it with the pickaxe
Using it right now, no errors.
whoa, 1 copper node got me 116 copper and 325 stone
Anyway, can confirm, they pop with 2 hits when unsupported by terrain, but you need to dig pretty deep, around 17m
Check out Ore_Support as well, will show the hitboxes so you know where you have to dig. Furthermore, you can bind it's command to a hotkey to turn on/off the visual effect.
