any suggestions on how i could get plant everything to work? im on valheim_old in the betas tab on steam but it doesnt even create config on reinstall and it fully doesnt work
Try using the previous version of Plant Everything. ๐
r2modman is the easiest way to do it. Go to thunderstore.io. Find the mod. Open up it's page and click on Versions. Then select the version and click on Install. Done. ๐

got everything working thatnks so much this took me way too long i shouldve asked sooner
hey, just wanted to check back in. i combed through all three of my drives and deleted every file tagged with "valheim", "bepinex", and "IronGate/Iron Gate". i deleted r2modman and all associated files just to be sure. reinstalled valheim, verified the files, and am still getting a Unity 2022.3 error and an immediate crash without even launching the game. i genuinely have no idea where some rogue Bepinex folder would be hiding and no idea where to even start looking. I'd appreciate if you or someone else could let me know if im asking in the wrong channel or if there's someone who knows more about troubleshooting these sorts of problems.
Just straight up delete your entire Valheim folder. It won't do anything bad, unless you don't use the cloud for characters and worlds. Then verify through steam. I'm not sure if I am explaining this next part right, but from what I understand an uninstall/reinstall does not achieve the same results as deleting and verifying. There is probably something that you're missing, and that will eliminate it altogehter.
so delete the game folder while its installed and then reverify the game files? I've been uninstalling the game and then going through to delete any other leftovers or folders that might be tied to mod files

I reinstalled the game, then went into the SteamApps folder on the drive I installed it to and deleted the Valheim folder. Then I went into the Properties for the game and reverified ~1600 files, same Unity crash window and error code

Anyone here using lloesche/valheim-server-docker with BEPINEX=true ? I have issues with manually updating the URL for the bepinex-updater in the image. After I do it, the server goes into a loop:

Use version 1.16.2 which is the latest for your game version
@haughty folio Hey, just wanted to let you know that the undo function for moving objects is still not working. Also, I found another bug but this time with InfinityHammer. When placing a blueprint containing a sign with text, it places the text inside quotation marks. As you can see in this screenshot, the tags won't work because of it.
Looking for the mod that looks like equipmentAndQuickslots but has necklace slots etc. trying to get the magicplugin to work.
So to summarise I havent played since november, and I have come back and one of my mods is broken meaning I can only load the save from last time I played.
I can make new saves, just cant load them. I also cannot run commands like nocost in the console, is there any way I can figure out how WITHOUT running through every mod enabling them one by one?

I hope i am in the right channel for the issue i have atm, if not i do appologize for it.
But i recently got back into playing Valheim after a bit of a burnout.
And to my despair, alot of the mods i used to play with are either broken or discontinued so, i decided to get to the root of my issue. And it seems its BepInEXPack_Valheim that is the issue. So when i boot it, starts as it should, i load my save. All is well ( apart from the loss of full inventory of items due to mods not working and tools/wep/armor etc ) but thats a side note, can be crafted and farmed again.

Due to this, i cant open inventory at all.
My guess would be mis-matched versions of your game vs the mod(s). If you're playing with an older version of the game and newer versions of the mods, stuff won't work. Also true with new version of the game and old version(s) of the mods.
At this point in time, try to archive a copy of your world's file pair, the .db and .fwl from back when stuff was ok. Save the pair to a separate place so you can get back to that when you figure out the problem. Do the same thing for your character .fch file and you'll have your old inventory and things to get back to as well.
Then, go to your steam client and update your game. Go to thunderstore.io and d/l r2modman mod manager and explore it until you understand how it works. It lets you find, select and install a mod in just a couple clicks. Install them one or two at a time and test them then install one or two more and test those, rinse, repeat 'till you've got most of your mods back.
Some are still not updated for the current game version, so be prepared for that. Disable them until they're updated.
When stuff appears to be working ok, go back and copy back in the archived copy of your world and your character. Good luck with it! ๐

As far as i know, the game itself is fully updated, mods aswell. I use Thunderstore Mod Manager for it. There was some new updates today, done that. Have disabled every mod apart from BepInEX.
As far as for the inventory etc, that what i had is all looong gone. As i got in the game, i was blody nekid ๐ haha im not fussed about that.
And asfar as the mods, if i cant get BepInEX to work, the others wont work either. So my biggest issue is with that mod atm. If i can get that one to work properly, the rest i know how to update etc. Its just how to fix that one, i am clueless sadly.
Being naked is because you haven't restored a backup of your character. The inventory stuff goes with your character.fch file.
Ok, well sadly as dumb as i might be. I disabled every mod, logged in so that old inventory is gone. but like i said, its only materials. i can re-farm it all ๐

If you have the current, patched, copy of your game from Steam, and only loaded one mod, that being the BepInEx Valheim pak. And that doesn't work? I don't know how to fix that. It should just work.
When I did it I did it two or three at a time. But basically, yeah.
This might be a dumb question, but in the location %appdata% - roaming etc then Valheim>Cache - i see denikson-BepInExPack_Valheim - should i manually remove this? To like "reset" it? Then uninstall the mod, reinstall it ? Would that work ?
Start a brand new profile and you won't have to remove anything.

And like I said before, your game keeps copies of you character alongside the copies of your world. Just select an old copy and it'll have your stuff.
When you make the new profile and start the game 'vanilla' before loading in BepInEx, or just desabling BepInEx now that it's already loaded, you get the same error or not?

This is what i see with and without mods, so im gona assume its not a mod issue tbh.
If you're seeing that, you are not without mods. The only thing I know of that has ever caused that is an out of date mod.
Im not 100 % sure of what i think, but a while back when i played with some friends. We changed some line in a file, along with a mod for it to work properly. Im starting to think its cus of that change in code or line, so im considering to uninstall the game and re-installing it.
I even remember now what the mod did, it was litterally so one could go into "creative mode" and fly etc.
So gona try this step, hopefully it works.

You need to figure out why you can't start your game with out any mods. When you try to run a vanilla game you get mods. Find out why that is.
The game works fine, it boots up, i can get into my save files etc, i just cant open ANY chest, inventory etc.. and this is without mods.
When you start the game, one of the first screens has your game version in the lower right hand corner of the screen. What is that?
Also, game inventory works fine when i boot from Steam. No issues, but when i run it from Thunderstore Mod Manager, even without mods. It wont open.

Good. That's the new recently patched version, as it should be.
Remove thunderstore modmanager and all it's associated files and install the r2modman manager instead and create a new profile there and start the game from there before you install any mods.
Lot of work, will do that later when i wake up ๐ waaay to tired atm. Also, gona write down the mods i have before i remove it all.

Hey again. Ok so, i uninstalled Thunderstore MM , installed R2modman, all the mods etc. Some of the mods sadly isnt working anymore, but thats fine. But, it worked! I can open the inventory etc so i wanna thank you sooo much for your help. ๐
Does warfare mod and epicloot mod go hand in hand? or is epic loot only for vanilla items
It's still on the table but unfortunately the last patch has caused some issues with higher priority.

You can probably still find them on a world backup that you could restore, if you wanted to. Then, you could even rename the non-mod world to something else.
Story time:
After last public update, some of my hens got an "upgrade"; 3 of them got 1000HP, and 2 of those have the same personal name as as the next door Lox.... ๐ ๐
I don't use any mods that alters hp of animals, only UI releated mods. And they do have 1000HP, because I found out about this when I came with the Butcher knife, and one of the 3 has now 344HP left...
(Because of the update, I had to turn off BepinEx on the server, to be able to run the server.)

Sounds like a broken mod with unintentional consequences. Troubleshooting the log is what I would do here, but turning off a mod, one by one, until you find the problem is a slower but acceptable way of narrowing it down. Then either wait for update, or find a replacement.

so i've been trying to figure out why my server still won't let me use console commands and i've disabled every mod except the ones i would really not like to remove... and most of them have been updated recently like jotunn and jewelcrafting (i disabled JC but it didn't fix anything) so i'm left with these and i dunno what else do to besides disabled the azu mods or jotunn which would rly cause some issues i think... any ideas why else the console wouldn't work after trying to remove as many offending mods as possible?

Can you explain what happens when you try to use console commands? Do you get the console but can't type in there? Can you type in the commands but they're ignored?
i can type but hitting enter wont let me actually like spawn anything in

Those errors are pretty generic and are caused by changes in the game with this last patch. I suspect that some of the problem mods won't be detected by the TerminalChecker mod.
I think both of you guys are gonna have to figure out which of your mods need to be disabled until they're fixed. I know that's not easy when you have a ton of mods but I really don't think there's any alternative. Good luck with it, anyway.

Keep in mind that you can go back to the earlier version of the game, the server, and the mods until all the mods are updated. Then, it'll all play like it was before the patch. It's a PITA but doable as an alternative.
i tried with g-portal to go back to the old stable version and it never worked
did it on the client and server and it never connected
we kept separate profiles in modman and swapped the branches but the g portal branch names are different and it never worked so we just said meh nevermind lol
If anyone does figure out what mod is throwing that error let me know, it's been popping up a lot
Anyone here know how to use the DualWield mod by SmoothBrain or is it broken? I've tried it with axes, maces and clubs and none have worked.
I think this is the most correct channel to ask about homebrew modding help? I'm trying to rip assets from Valheim, currently, all I'm looking to do is sort of get the files into Blender, so I can kind of mess around with them, maybe use the body models as references if I wanna try to model some kind of armor set that I'll probably never make anything of. If I get enthusiastic enough, I'll start worrying about how to prepare those files for being put in the game somehow, but for now I'm only looking to rip models and textures in a accessible format like Obj. I've got Asset Ripper, I've done some ripping, but I'm not sure I've found any common model or texture assets. I find a lot of stuff in the "prefab" format, but I was hoping for OBJ's somewhere, given that I set that as the mesh export format. Can someone constructively tell me the particular way in which I'm stupid?
Join one of the discord servers that mod authors hang out in. Get the correct role (usually a reaction role for access to modding resource channels). You probably want a plugin for your Unity Editor to export the meshes. There is tons of work to do to to preserve them and not lose data when exporting to edit and reimporting.

You can follow the current guide on how to rip as it still works on the newest Valheim version.
But yes, you will need Unity to export meshes to fbx.

at least the stuff that's been built should all look right still. our server is having the same problem with the trees (and also it seems a couple of fruit trees) but the built stuff looks right. hopefully they'll fix it soon tho.

Also be very careful when downloading mods that are a year or more old. Test all mods in small batches before downloading more. Anything older than a few months should be approached with caution as it might not work unless itโs by one of the more active authors

Be aware that the last time a game patch broke a lot of mods was only 8 days ago. Most of those are fixed by now but some are still waiting for an update. ๐
I think aedenthorn is done modding, and all her mods on thunderstore are reuploads anyway - so now they will all be super outdated ๐ So be wary of those
Im running lloesche/valheim latest, and I get a 404 unable to download bepinex when launching.
First time that's happened for you? Are you using a VPN? Does the script log you in as anonymous ok?
not using vpn, first time experiencing this after i did a re-deploy of the image since the update

Verify that the server PC can reach thunderstore.io manually, in case something is blocking it. And check again for any little 'typos'.
Other than that, I dunno. Maybe someone else in here can be of more help.

Thunderstore recently changed their hyperlink structure, it's possible it broke your container bepinex fetcher ๐ค If you can't fix it, it may be worth reaching out on a github about the issue

I haven't tried yet but figured people here would know - if I installed the More Vanilla Build Prefabs mod by Searica to unlock the goblin/dvergr pieces would our dedicate server report incompatible version? I see that the mod hasn't been updated in two weeks, so I assume either the author hasn't gotten around to it since the game updated or that it's not necessary to update the mod and it'll work fine. Thanks for any insights!
I think you could easily install the mod on your game client, run that solo and check the playerlog for any errors. If there are none, go ahead and install it on the server, too.
In any event, it's just one mod. So, if it has problems it's easy to just remove or disable it and wait a bit longer for a fix. ๐
Sure, fair enough - just seeing if anyone knew offhand if it's been broken since the update and save me the time of trying but the mod manager makes it pretty quick to try what you suggested so it's not an issue to try it myself tonight

Yeah, the nexusmods Vortex mod manager has problems with the Valheim game.
You can use the r2modman manager from thunderstore.io, if you want to. It works fine and makes mods a lot easier to install and manage. ๐

Disable all the other mods, run the game, check your Windows command window and your playerlog file for errors and/or verification that BepInEx has loaded and run properly.

As I said, you'll need to go beyond the title screen, load into the game and check your Windows command window and your playerlog file.
figured it out, the guide I follow was probably outdated as the pack was missing some files
now I actually see stuff on the title screen
The bugged menu was caused by a 3 year old mod that somehow slipped in. Seemingly working now
The bepinex in vortex is broken, and can affect your files. Fyi
Already got rid of Vortex fully and reinstalled the game
Other than the wholly broken mod, the combat balance fix made me and all targets invulnerable, so had to yank that too

I don't know the details but I'm pretty sure it means that one or another of your mods is incompatible or out of date. You'll probably have to eliminate them one at a time to find the offending mod(s). I'd look at the mods that add items like new armor, weapons, foods, etc. to the game that aren't in the vanilla game.

210 mods, ouch! I've gone through that kind of trouble shooting with 150+ mods myself so I know how frustrating and annoying that's going to be. If you have r2modman, you can pretty easily disable them 5 or 10 at a time for a test. And that helps a little bit. But it's still a terrible chore to figure it out. Good luck with it!!
OdinPlus discord has a log drop that may help narrow it down.
Server or solo game or both? Did it start with the April 10 game patch? Or several days later with one or another of the mod updates?
Solo. Not sure when exactly it started. There have been updates for Jotunn on top of the april 10 patch.
Can you roll your game and the mods back to previous versions and wait a little longer before running the currently patched version? How many mods are you using?

I wish I could be of more help to you but I haven't heard of a solution for that error. Maybe someone in here will come along with a quick and easy solution for you. You could disable one or two at a time for some trouble shooting, if you have the time and patience. ๐
I'm not sure how to roll back but I did launch without BepInEx and the console works so I'll figure out which mod is breaking. (hopefully not a crucial mod) if bepinex or jotunn is broken i could check the github for a more recent version
To roll back the game, go to your Steam library, right click the game icon, select Properties, then Betas and choose the "default_old - Previous stable" one. To roll the mods back, go to Thunderstore.io, find the mod, choose Versions and pick the one before April 10th. ๐
GrassTweaks broke with the latest patch. Looks like someone else already reported the bug on nexus.
Luckily it's not an integral mod like bepinex/jotunn.

Looks like a broken mod, or may be another problem related to one that is obfuscated. There's not many authors that do that so should narrow it down some. I think Marthon and CookieMilk (maybe krumpac too, but I haven't checked) mods are the only ones recently? Check those first. Not much can be inferred from one error though.
Both are on the server, gives me a place to start. I wish I had more info, but it's legit right as I pop into the server, haven't even done anything yet. nothing before it has much of an indicator. appreciate ya.

Serversync is built directly into the mod, or do I have to install some other dependency?

@haughty folio I'm thinking of adding the "Fire Effect" to a geothermal biome, using the "statusEffects:" entry for the Expand World Data Biome file. You need to read the manual. Can't just guess what to put.
The manual just says it's a "list" tough, it doesn't give a realistic example of what it's supposed to look like formatted.

Solo game or server? You're using Steam or Gamepass? When did this start happening? Have you power cycled the PC to clear the RAM caches? If the error only happens when you start modded and not vanilla, then it's one of your mods that's broken or out of date.
Also, could be BepInEx installed incorrectly, or wrong version.
Solo game, Launching through r2modman but i believe it launchs through steam. When i launch through steam it does the same thing mods on or off. Started happening yesterday. everything is up to date. lunching the game in vulkan and normal is un successful. Game will not launch with all mods, some mods, no mods active.
That's a little confusing. When you launch without r2modman does the error occur then, or not? When you look into your Valheim folder manually and go to the BepInEx folder there, are the same mods there that are in your r2modman profile?

Check your playerlog and see if there are any errors in there that would explain the problem.
You might have old mod files in your steam installation, I would delete/clear all files, verify files to get a clean install, then launch vanilla and make sure it runs.
@stiff parcel If you run your solo game with crossplay enabled does your game need to check in with the playfab lobby? So does it run ok whether the playfab network is busy contemplating it's digital naval, as it sometimes does?

Just curious, me and a few friends have a server and have added a few mods, the target portal mod never works for us whenever the game resets or you leave you can no longer see any other portals unless you visit them by foot. I tried a different mod to add another type of portals and thought I'd try join the game with the new, very similar modpack, and it let me join and I could even place the stuff from the mod that wasn't on the server side. How does this work and can I play with any mods I want separatly and does anyone know a fix for the target portal mod??

Hello - I've been trying for a while now to get the vanilla game to launch after trying to remove a couple of mods I installed. I've tried a dozen different methods and absolutely nothing is working. No matter what I do, reinstalling, deleting files, updating drivers, clearing out every single file that could possibly be related to bepinex or an old install, and every single time the attached error window comes up. I've spoken with some server admins and modmakers and nothing they've suggested (despite being very helpful and responsive) has worked.
I've also attached the most recent crash log. If anyone knows what to do here I'd appreciate it. Feel free to DM me if anyone figures anything out. Other than that I hope the rest of you enjoy Ashlands.
Go to your common folder and delete the Valheim folder that's in there. Then, reinstall Valheim.

You can use your Steam client to browse files and see where your game files are. Then, delete those and reinstall.

I've had these types of Unity crashes before in various games. I also had them with Valheim when it first released into EA. Ultimately my issue with Valheim I think was a virtual driver installed by the bluestacks android emulation software.
To fix it you typically need to improve general system stability. Update BIOS, all drivers, OS, check operating system and storage for corruption, ensure correct memory and cpu timings. That sort of thing. I can assist with any of what I mentioned and more as time allows
Oh. Game overlays should be disabled (discord, steam, Nvidia, Xbox game bar, etc.)
Some manufacturers provide software for controlling lights, fans, overclocking, etc. Some of those are known to cause these types of problems as well. Same goes for some keyboard/mouse/headset manufacturers whose software is basically malware.

The nexusmods Vortex mod manager for Valheim is terrible. It ships with broken dlls and misconfigured bepinex
You can use the r2modman manager from thunderstore.io, if you want to. It works fine and makes mods a lot easier to install and manage.

Man I love my mods. Seasonality is so awesome. Just looking at the glow from my furnaces reflecting off of the snow from a snow storm in my meadows base in the middle of winter. Base game is just so base in comparison.
Turn of all mods and enable them one by one till you get the error again, the last one you turned on is the culprit.
Turn that one of again and enable the rest to see if any other give an error.
It might also be an interaction between mods that gives the problem.

a little update: i tried using AutomaticFuel by TastyChickenLegs and Venture terrain reset by venturevalheim and my issue is resolved. I wish there was some quicker way to troubleshoot this issue as it seems every now and then 1 or 2 mods isnt updated to the latest patch/version of valheim and you have to find the culprit 1 by 1.

Enabling 5 at a time goes quicker, but that's just how it is.
Are the files from this source uncorrupted? I run a valhiem server and was wanting to get Valhiem plus on it but the files from Nexus are broken.

Hello - After the last update, I had big mod issues. First, the roofs on my buildings were pink. then, The walls of my buildings disappeared, which caused my roofs to collapse. My cool buildings were gone. If I go back to a previous save, will my buildings be there? If so, and I use that save and the buildings collapse again, will THAT save be then changed? I hope this makes sense. I've been reluctant to even open the game for a week.
Make a copy of your worlds_local folder to another location.
Ofc, you may also need to move them from the cloud in-game before you can copy them.
I'm not entirely certain of the path for that folder. I'm looking in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Valheim at the moment

Yes but I'm guessing the worlds / characters are still in the cloud and not on your local drive, go into the game and you should find a setting to save locally instead of in the cloud.

Wouldn't matter, you aren't loading world or char. But might be faster to skip preloading mods

After you have a backup, free to play around as much as you like, then when you're done, plug a previous save into your world_local, and in game use that backup file.
Well, this is different. The game won't load. I'm in Steam, click on Play... it looks like it's trying to load and then the Play button is up again.
I'd guess you have an incomplete Bepinex in your steam folder, but I can't know that without logs. I'd love to help diagnosis that one but I'm at work and wouldn't be as quick to reply.
Would Bepinex affect the Vanilla launch? Also, I did the updates through R2Modman this morning and Bepinex wasn't one that was listed as needing updated.
I'm referring to actually within your steam folder, like manually modding. R2 keeps files separately.

I'm not new to modding (have added 180+ mods, manually, in another game ๐ ), so I would be comfortable modding manually, if that's what you would suggest, rather than using a mod manager.

Anyone able to successfully get the Ashlands Public Beta working with mods? I "kind of" have some working (31 relatively happy), but I'm still troubleshooting some "creatures can't hit me and I can't hit them" issues. Just curious.
I just finished dialing in 8 brand new biomes and then the Public Beta hit, so I had to stop polish, and want to run a playthrough with the new Ashlands. Was hoping to load a few of the Quality of Life mods.
You shouldn't be playing the beta with mods, it's for vanilla testing not getting the new content early. There will be issues and authors will not post updates until it goes live

I know, I make mods. I haven't even tried launching the game with them yet since I'm helping with vanilla testing. You do you though, there's some authors who appreciate the help and have bug reports on their discords, but never the less it's not encouraged.
Yes, BepInEx alone would affect the vanilla game launch. And I don't think r2modman would flag a mod as needing an update unless the author has already posted an update to the mod on the thunderstore.io site. Pretty sure that if the mod gets old and out of date without the author updating it there, r2modman doesn't know that it's out of date.

I can't speak for all of them, but the Equipment mod you could switch for AzuExtendedPlayerInventory, and FarmGrid could be replaced with PlantEasily.

I can't say for sure, I haven't used the old one, but it does a good job at making slots for additional items such as tomes and earrings and quivers

We've been stuck on using KG's enchantment system paired with Wackymoles MMO, as well as Smoothbrains professions
I've never had the chance to explore to many of those. The thunderstore is a big mess, at least for me, I can never tell at a glance whats good and whats not.
the biggest thing to look out for is the date. while not ALL older mods are broken, it's a pretty good indicator. as you build your pack, try adding one or a small few at a time, and check for errors.
Another thing, if you are in one of the other discord servers, like OdinPlus or Oriana's, they have a thunderstore-updates tab that posts when a mod is updated. it is nice to see what devs are keeping up with updating, and sometimes a peek at something new

I didn't understand that. Maybe I'm just tired right now. But an option to remove what from what? I just find a modpak there that sounds like what I want and then put it into one of my r2modman profiles and customize it by removing or adding whatever mods I want. Simple and easy. Unless I'm missing something...?
An advanced search option at hides modpacks
When your search items come back they're ordered by update with the newest updated first. It only takes you a page or two at most before you've wandered into territory that too out of date and therefore too risky. Sometimes when you want just single mods in your search you can get too many to select from. Then you just use other key words to do the search.
Thunderstore relies heavily on the poster labeling their packages correctly, many people making modpacks don't add the right tags

Part of it is that I'm personally not often searching for modpaks. Almost always for single mods. I've never been frustrated with their search results or thinking they could find a better way. That's just me, I guess.

There's also tags for the different game updates that most mod makers use, so you can also filter by those to see more up to date packages. When ashlands drops you'll see a lot of old mods that don't need an update get that tag

Unity crash is commonly caused by an outdated bepinex. Did you get the bepinex pack from thunderstore? And highly recommend using one of the thunderstore mod managers over wemod
Go to your Steam Client library, right click on Valheim game icon. Select Properties, then installed files, then verify them.

My friend and I play on a dedicated server. Friday night we installed mods to do some building, server devcommands was the one we installed on our server. Ever since the update yesterday our terrain has been screwed. We had a terrain wall around our base and now this is whats in it's place. One hit takes it down to the lowest level and the ground cannot be raised. Any idea what to do? I REALLY don't want to start a new world. We're around 600 days in.

You should have a backup to restore. You would need to figure out what mod is broken to prevent it from happening again. There's guides around the help channels somewhere with how to do that I think

I can't join your stream right now. You need to install bepinex properly. If wemod adds file to your game directory you'll have to manually remove them and reinstall bepinex

If the server is remotely hosted, then use SFTP or however it works on that hosting company.

It's a mod you download but it's actually a mod loader. You can't use other mods without it. Some hosting companies put it on their servers automatically and don't always tell you about it. It's just easier for them.

Use a better mod launcher for valheim is my best advice: < https://thunderstore.io/c/valheim/p/ebkr/r2modman/>. If you can't launch vanilla it's because you have mod files in your game directory, which you can find the folder of from steam settings - and delete all the files and verify game files again to get a clean game install. After you can launch vanilla just install mods with r2modman
If you have the other thunderstore manager it's basically the same thing and you can use that one

Hey folks, anyone had or having trouble removing built objects with the hammer? I can't for the life of me figure out which of my mods is causing the problem, but I can't break anything with my hammer. Tried re-binding the button which didn't help, and everything else functions perfectly fine. I'm at a loss here.

Some mods yes. Currently the only ones I am running on public test are better networking and render limits, they seem to work without issue

People downloading Mods from my friendcode arent having the configuration files sync'd. Why is that, and how do I fix it?

Some of my players use Betterward, and I turn off the setting to stop people from teleporting through portals. for some reason she couldnt go through. I also disabled the ability to craft backpacks from the adventure backpack mod, made it soley from boss drops. And yet another player claims he crafted his Rugged Backpack.
Has anyone tried out valheim plus with the PTB? All of my worlds/characters have used extra inventory slots so a bunch of items will be deleted if I try to move into the test version without it

The original mod can't be updated since the owner never gave anyone the permissions or access and is mia. There is a team working on it still under a different upload name Grantapher. They made a new discord and are pretty responsive when people need support.

Theyโre on here. The backpack situation was sorted out. The player crafted the backpack before I updated the config files on the server that disallows crafting and upgrades. As for the betterwards, we never figured it out. Doors are still opening up by themselves.
Well, doors opening/closing is default to on and isn't synced with the server.

After loading up valheim thru thunderstore i noticed that it doesnt open up the console anymore (another window where you could see whatever went on in your server etc) why is that?

Glad you got it sorted. Just for future reference, when you speak of the 'bepinex console' do you mean the Windows command window that appears when you game is loading?
If it's not showing, you likely downloaded something that changed the BepInEx config. Modpack makers love to do that for their server's so regular players don't see things.
You can find it in BepInEx/config/BepInEx.cfg to enable console.
Just another example of why you shouldn't download a mod/modpack unless you know what it's doing...or at the very least know what the mods it has does.

It seems like the smelter autofueling mods aren't working on the ashlands beta test server. The smelters and kilns are just eating the ores and wood without actually smelting them. Also the smelters' are not registering the pulled ores and wood. They only reigster handfed ores and wood to their inventory. Is this an issue with anyone else? Is there a way to fix this?
I suspect this is because the RPC name changed from "AddOre" to "RPC_AddOre". Same for fuel.
Is there a quick fix for this or do I need to wait for the mod to update?
You can install ServerDevCommands on server and your client and then you can fly around being invisible.

Same, for streamers or event holders they can use it for commentating, while server admins can use them to check for hackers or wrongs in RP

To anyone that hosts a dedicated server, do you use the Server Simulation mod? Does it break your server? I ran into an issue today where we killed a troll and it kept looping the death animation, spawning bodies and causing the fps to drop to 1 until it crashed our clients. Had to roll the server back and I've been trying to figure out what caused that. I've narrowed it down to either the Server Simulation mod or Better Networking. I was hoping someone had some experience with this or knowledge to share.
They seem to do more harm than good.

Does anyone know how to configure the World_Advancement_Progression Mod?
My goal is to lock boss summons until an admin unlocks it manually. Also, I want to lock Silver until after Bonemass is defeated, etc.
There's an example in the readme to go off of if you want full admin control of when things get unlocked. Only thing you'll need to change is OverrideLockBossSummonsDefaults, set that to something like:
Eikthyr, Locked, gd_king, Locked, Bonemass, Locked, Dragon, Locked, GoblinKing, Locked, SeekerQueen, Locked
When you're ready for alters to become unlocked just changed the "Locked" entry to blank or the previous boss key if you still want players to do the bosses in order

Does epicloot work with the latest update?
Because im using thunderstore and i got 17 mods and when i launch it only launches 15 mods and CraftingWithContainers and EpicLoot gets some erroes in bepinex cmd thing
And the mods i have is like warfare, epicloot, monstrum, recycle, archery, odinship, warfare epicloot support
so all of them is kind of connected and some are just different and shouldnt intervene i think

Epic Loot works in version 217.46. Crafting With Containers has not worked for some time, switch to AzuCraftyBoxes

IF you use vortex it installs some broken files, inslim loader and vortex world. They need to be removed or you need to switch to a thunderstore mod amnager

I think one of your mods is causing that. I don't know what has changed in the last few days on your end to cause it. You're playing on the early release game version, right? Not the PTB.

Ok, so I'm running valheim in a screen session. I was following some tutorial videos online, but they directory contents didn't match
I've got a user (vh1)set up on my box which runs the server:
That user has the directory /home/vh1/valheim/ which i believe to be the game installation directory.
now im trying to follow the directions, but some of the instructions, mention doing stuff in the steam interface, but my server is headless, so i've kind of skipped those steps.
Right now, I've just added the executable line to the run_bepinex.sh file (and made is executable)
I'm hoping that's the correct thing to do.

ok, so I changed the executable line to executable_name="../valheim_server.x86_64"
as the run_bepinex.sh file is in the ./doorstop/ subdirectory
it ran with like a hundred Failed warnings....
now it's meant to have created a file: BepInEx/LogOutput.txt and a directory: BepInEx/config which are not there... I'm guessing I screwed up somewhere.

If it makes it easier for you to work with a GUI on your headless server box, you can try NoMachine app. I use it regularly with no problems. They have a free for personal use version that I couldn't live without. ๐
Uh okay so I've setup Valheim dedicated server on headless Debian multiple times; but the easiest would be to remote mount using sshfs so it's easier to copypasta BepInEx files and setup stuff via GUI

Ok, then just go to thunderstore.io, download and run their r2modman manager. Explore around in it a bit to see how it works and then find and load your mods from inside r2modman. It just works and makes it much easier to deal with the mods. ๐

I'd been using 'Craft Build Smelt Cook Fuel Pull From Containers' but the comments seem to imply it doesn't play nice lately.
Go to thunderstore.io, join the Valheim community there, and search mods for "container". Choose one that's been updated since April 10th.
AzuCraftyBoxes is one option that is well maintained
Have you tried all the usual things like re-verifiying your game files and doing a vanilla test run? It's at least 50/50 that one or another of your mods isn't working right.

I think it's a UI "glitch". In the past the boss bars spawned on top of each other so it would always display the highest health, so if you only see one health bar that's likely it
We actually have that all the time, especially with multiple players nearby. In CLLC configs, I stopped Twin bosses from spawning and recalculated the rest of the affix chances to 16.6666.
Otherwise, running out of the instance and then back was our only solution to fixing it. They took no damage from any player. And that's on top of the UI glitch that Oriana mentioned.
Rows and columns can be changed directly in the mod config, but configurable hotkeys are provided to dynamically change grid size during piece placement. See the mod description for default keybinds.

I haven't played since before Mistlands, but is there a way to prevent players from logging into a dedicated server with materials they've added to their inventory from another server/single player? I want to prevent a few people I know and want to play with from pulling over high-level material en-masse from other saves.

I dont know of any, I know there are mods to prevent anyone from runing any mods other than those you want ran.

It looks like your mods aren't working. If I were you, I'd do a reinstall of the game and then go to thunderstore.io, download and use their r2modman mod manager to find, download, and install your mods for you.
You could try adjusting the graphics settings in the game's menu. Turn off vsync and set your max FPS to about 40.

Yeah when you download that you open up the zip file and isntead of extracing it directly you extract the sub folder called BepInEx
YOu already have it in your Valheim game folder under BepInEx_valheim, so just take BepInEx in there and cut-and-paste it into Valheim

Do you mean that you're using mods on the PTB version of the game?
Mods aren't ready for the PTB and the PTB isn't ready for mods. Remove them or go back to the current release version of the game.

Anything that hasn't been updated in a month is likely broken. If I were you, I'd delete the game and all the mods and just start over. Your worlds and characters will remain.

ok so i forgot to mention that i can launch the game normally threw R2Modman but the issue comes up when trying to launch modded and this started b4 ashlands was even out so its not a ashland not getting along with the mods kinda thing at least it wasnt a couple weeks ago when this happeden to me
Then, it sounds like you have a bad mod or two. Disable them one or a few at a time until you find the bad ones. Remove them and replace them with equivalent currently working ones.

Hey guys, recently just got back into Valheim with mods and I haven't been able to get my build camera mod working. I've tried editing the keybinds and other settings with the config but it hasn't been working. Is this a problem with me or is the mod not working and more?
Start with uninstalling valheim legends and epic loot. Those 2 i for sure know dont work on ptb. After that ive heard that betterarchery is bugged but havent tested it myself. The mod that adds extra enemies from therzie also makes it that you cant hit enemies/ they cant hit you and you cant punch small trees, so perhaps the mods you have that adds mobs will also cause something like that
Ive gotta figure out why rocks and ores dont disappear when breaking them only when you have broken every spot on the rock/ vein. Just found that out when i got a pickaxe

It can be problematic to disable structural integrity in multi-player. If a player comes along later and takes control of the area, your building would collapse, if he didn't have the same structural integrity mod.

so I am using fashionheim to spawn in a draugr fang bow without particles, problem I'm having is that the forge does not recognize it as an item that exists. Which was fine as far as upgrading it went (I already have a fully level vanilla fang so I had no qualms about spawning one in at level 4) but I can't repair it'

Draugr Fang was one of my favorite bows for a long time. And I've never found the glow it has to interfer with my aiming. Pardon me for saying so but it seems you're going through a whole lot of trouble just to get rid of the bow's glow which was one of my favorite things about it.
Have you tried going back to the original un-modded bow and adjusting some of the settings in your game's Graphics menu instead? And, keep in mind that this bow isn't going to be your end game bow. You'll outgrow it before too long anyway.
I don't know what you mean by a separate inventory for the team. But,anyway, it would seem like one or another of those mods needs it's config file adjusted for what to do with your inventory on death. And as I mentioned, there's also a world modifier setting that controls that, too.
I've played through to this point in the game 3 times, I'm on my third, and I find it extremely annoying. I can't think of what settings would change the opacity of the glow on the bow but I'm all ears bud
Try adjusting the various settings under the graphics tab in the game's main menu. Stuff like "Bloom" for example, whatever that is. Experiment with those settings.

If you just need to teleport metals it will be the world modifiers that were added, there's one to disable that. If you want to teleport more than that (like tames) you will still need a mod like this one https://thunderstore.io/c/valheim/p/OdinPlus/TeleportEverything/.

PlantEverything can remove open sky, growth space, biome, and cultivated ground requirement. It also allows saplings to be placed indoors and defy gravity so it won't fall through your floors.

PlantEverything doesn't provide bulk planting, you're confusing it with PlantEasily. And yes, PlantEasily does allow for planting individual crops.
When planting your resource cost shows at the bottom so if it's going to cost 4 seed press right CTRL and left/down arrow keys until rows and columns are 1 and cost is 1
Or simply press F8 to toggle off PlantEasily features and it will return to entirely vanilla planting

Check the PlantEverything config file. I think you can disable them in there, IIRC.

They're referring to the spawners themselves. Harvesting pickables in the vanilla game doesn't destroy them it just hides them until a timer elapses then they "regrow".
PlantEverything provides visual picked meshes of the various pickables so you can always see them and how long they'll take to regrow. You can also use the mod to remove the naturally spawned ones like dandelions poking up through your floor or branches respawning on your front lawn
Stones are an exception. The are destroyed when picked and don't respawn.

You could try going to the game's Settings menu and adjust the Graphics resolution a little or in the Accessibility tab you can adjust the 'Scale GUI' a bit to see if any of that helps.

There is a "hidden" command but it's only for work bench, not for stone cutter and forge
Im not talking about not needing materials. merely not needing to place a forge / stonecutter every 10 steps you take

While you're waiting for Azumatt to come round, I can suggest that you just need to install it on your game, and server if you have one, and set the options in it's config file. Have a look in there an you'll see exactly what the mod does for you. ๐

After you run it the first time, it'll create a .cfg config file in your BepInEx folder's config folder. Look at that file with your text editor and see the mod's options there. ๐

Ok, open up your File Manager, choose the option to show hidden files. And then go to c:\users\UserID\steam\steamapps\common\Valheim\BepInEx\config and you'll see the mod's config file in there.

It appears that you haven't installed the BepInEx mod. You need that to support any other mod you want to install. Like the All The Bases mod. You can't install any mods without having installed BepInEx first. You might want to find a tutorial for that on Youtube. I always find those helpful.
All right, then you need to look in your r2modman profile folder to find the BepInEx config folder there. Not in the external Valheim folder.

Go to Settings > Browse Profile Folder. It puts up the folder window behind the modman window. You can Alt+Tab to go to the profile window.

You can just exit and NOT save it and then start over. Or, if that doesn't work, just delete the config file, run the modded game again, and it'll create the default file brand new all over again.
Install it like other mods. Boot the game, configure the mod using the configuration file found in BepInEx/config/Azumatt.AllTheBases.cfg. Alternatively configure using the BepInEx Configuration Manager

What's the expected behaviour of Creature Level and Loot Control when it's installed on a client but not a server? My expectation would have been that the server/host is telling me what the levels of mobs are but I just got a 3 star seeker so now I'm not sure
valheim is a client-authoritative game, so the client is actually the one responsible for setting that stuff. In the case of multiple clients, ownership of objects is tracked, and the client with ownership will set spawns

Most of the time extra installed mods would result in a failure to join the game. Some client-only mods can get around this. There's a few mods like Azumatt's anticheat which help server owners curtail cheating and other bad behavior like that
but yes, in theory you could still spawn a level 500 mob and it'd reek havoc against other players
And, if it died, it would drop 500 X the loot of a single mob and likely corrupt the area of the world it was in and possibly the whole world.
interestingly enough the 3 star only dropped the loot of a 2 star so I'm not sure how that works
don't think the default cllc loot scaling is 1-1 but it'd probably be more than a normal amount of loot
