As you find more copper & tin, more armor types will become available. But some people skip that level and keep the troll hide a bit longer. It's definitely better than the deerhide armor

how often do you find yourself farming materials vs exploring? or am i over thinking this?

i spent a good chunk of the day farming 16 buddles of wood for a house. built my house. I do just farm to craft at this point to hope that my leveling gets stronger? im not entirely sure if im doing the right stuff

For me it is a matter of play style once I have met my basic needs. I find I like building stuff so that requires materials. Other times I like to explore and not worry about resources. That said it does take time and effort to keep up with the basic needs. Not sure that helps.. <shrug>

Honestly, don't focus on levels. Levels go up passively over time, you don't want to grind them.

They don't unlock anything new, only make you craft stuff faster / sometimes get an extra item of whatever you're crafting / etc.

Farming the wood to build a proper base takes a while, but after that I'd say I do more exploring to get new items, with some farming of wood and stuff in between

Is tehre a trick to getting out of the water? Sometimes I can easily hop out and make traction on the land, other times I can waste an entire stam bar sprint jumping and be stuck in the water indefinitely

Not really

The trick is to not waste your entire stamina bar if you've got water up to your butt. Just walk/swim

I suppose if you have a hoe and a workbench you could build terrain under yourself if it's really a big deal for you

Some places can be yeah. I'd think pretty much any like dirt/sand terrain you should be able to get up. But some rocks or especially mistlands terrain can be too steep to get on

Exploration is very important. It's always good to know where biomes and resources are, even if you don't need them yet. A bit of advice, if you see an enemy you haven't killed before, kill it (provided it's from a biome you are currently in our have already cleared), and if you see anything that even looks like it could be a new item or resource, pick it up.

I think "better" is a bit more subjective based on how you fight, no? The frost slowing them down is extremely useful and if you get it upgraded to the max, mistwalker only does 5 damage less than the silver sword at quality 4 too.

Considering that crowd control is an important thing in Ashlands, I'm almost leaning towards the Mistwalker.

Yeah. Damage difference depends on the enemy as some are weak to spirit, but mistwalker has slow and more stagger, silver generally has more damage and less stamina use

If your tombstone disappears for whatever reason there's not really anything you can do about it. As for your gear, either recraft it or you can use devcommands to spawn what you lost. But tombstones don't usually do that.

Don't actually reel them in, I usually just hook em and then walk away from the water and drag them up the shore then reel them in a little so they're not able to get back in the water. But while fishing normally, make sure they're not thrashing while you reel or you'll use up all of your stamina really fast.

Move off the dock to a clear shoreline, that way you don't break the line, fishing off a dock is unnecessary and makes it harder imo

Yeah depending on what you're trying to catch and how low your skill is, you need more.

Pretty much always eat SSS food when fishing. And you can skill by using stamina whether you catch or not.
Skill increase reduces stamina cost so after a bit of time put into it, you can catch things a lot more easily.

I love fishing in this game but it can be frustrating... I use my hoe to flatten an area that will allow me to walk away from the shore (even on a slope) then I make sure I have 3 stamina foods and a stack of stamina potions (using those when the big fish are on the line) and like others, I reel it in a little but when my stamina bar has 1/4 to 1/3 left, then I walk it out of the water making sure not to go to fast or it will snap the line. It also is helpful if you have a buddy to kill any enemies and grab the fish when they flop out of the water. Oh, also, I never caste it out beyond 20 meters and in the Mistlands I don't caste it out beyond 15 meters. If it goes beyond that I don't succeed much. I hope this helps!

Shorter reeling distance is usually better. You could try Karve trick.
The trick is to be on Karve, cast your bait and sit on where you use paddle. This way you can keep the rod low and have the line 1-2m long, so there is very little reeling time needed once the fish catches the bait.

they resistant to pierce, you can parry them with a bronze buckler and then just need a slash weapon ideally bronze and a bit upgraded and you can take them on easily even 1 star bear with good food

Things don't despawn for about 2 in game days iirc, for future reference. And as long as you have at least one player base item (workbench, campfire etc) placed down the drops won't despawn.

I calculated damage from a draugr and got a different result than the wiki says I should. I am playing a hardcore world with max enemy stats turned up, and really need to calculate damage through my tower shield so I am prepared for fights in the swamp (As my entire inventory poofs if I die).

the logical structural integrity of your build has nothing to do with the support of the build. All that matters is distance(except for stone building where it can't build horizontally by itself) from "ground"(ground, trees, rocks). Different materials loses support slower.

well me personally, i fought and won him with minimal effort with a lvl 2 bow and wood arrows and my armor wasnt even levelled neither did i use the knife nor shield really you shouldnt overthink it since its easy to dodge the lightening hits(surprised you actually know the moveset) and blocking it will block a big percentage of the damage so youre fine either way

Sure, i usually stick to only one base but many people make multiples 🙂 and i recommend to leave one portal at your current base and remember the name, when you get to elders location and get enough materials for second portal you can connect them

I usually take a hoe to the ground to make sure there aren't any little leftover pieces that are connecting it.

the hoe is a piece of tool that i have no clue to use sometimes it does not flat an area or elevate

The hoe is best used in combination with the pickaxe, however depending on the original height of the ground it can only be built up or picked down 8m. If you're flattening a wide area you'll find dips and bumps, bumps you can use the pick on then hit it with the hoe again to properly flatten, and dips you use the option on the hoe to build up the ground and the go back to the flatten option to properly flatten it.

Most likely, if it was higher up than the copper it probably won't go low enough to have 2m clearance underneath of it. But make sure there is around 2m clearance between the copper nodes and the dug up walls and the ground and any trees or rocks and it should pop the top so to speak.

Upgrade to the iron mace, and if you're still using troll armor, just be careful of the cultists in frost caves they hurt until you can get the mountains light armor, the fenris set. But you'll want to beat bonemass so you can find silver easier.

It is tanky, but it'll slow you down a bit, but you'll be able to take more hits. But if you're wanting freedom of movement it can feel cumbersome using heavy armor.

Meadows > Blackforest > Swamp > Mountains > Plains > Mistlands > Ashlands
Use this as a guide on what your next goal is after finishing everything in the current biome progression you are in

General rule of thumb, the stuff you make in the new biome is generally better than the previous

example: Silver armor will be better than Iron armor since silver is mountain progression
the rule also applies to food
example: Onion soup will be better than turnip soup since onion is mountain progression

If you asked Hildir to mark those more than two major patch ago, they might have changed in the big patch. Just clear them and go touch Hildir table again to get correct locations.

There are ten spawn points randomly placed for each trader in each world. The first one that you get close enough to will load the trader to stay there permanently.

Keep in mind that each upgrade to your bench must have it's own line of sight to the bench. Chances are it's too close to one of the other ones. The other possibility is that it won't hang on the wall sometimes. Add a wood beam on your wall and try to attach the tool rack under it.
