BTW I notice in single-player games I rarely have to protect my satellite bases (portals mainly) because when I leave the region, the mobs don't "persist". On a multiplayer server, do the mobs persist even after a zone is technically "left" by a player, or is there a mod for single-player mode that keeps those zones alive?

In multiplayer, the areas won't persist without players nearby, just like singleplayer

you can "park" them in a pit though so they don't respawn or get in the way. Since other mountain mobs are also hostile to them it's quite useful to let you fight Moder undisturbed.

as long as you have a maxed banded shield even level 1 root is sufficient to block his attacks. You take some single-digit scratch damage but your hp regen should cover that easily even while poisoned (as long as you use poison resist mead).

I'd say no. Battleaxes are acquired taste, they can be quite powerful if you're skilled but they're not for everyone.

The sword is a good but expensive choice, it’s incredibly powerful against the fifth boss and some enemies in the seventh biome

if the enemy can be staggered, then secondary-primary attack combo is very powerful. But it sucks against most dangerous single enemies like bosses, minibosses...

The primary attack has 1.5x staggering so unless you have low skill it should consistently stagger unstarred fulings and wolves in one hit

yeah, it's more about the attack speed. First swing with primary attack is very slow, so unless you get great timing on enemy approach, you're very vulnerable. So you use quick secondary attack to stagger, and use that time for primary combo

I've done something similar this playthrough (though i haven't gotten a staff of embers yet, went for protection first).
mortar & pestle only needs black marble and you'll get the mats for seeker aspic from mines, so it's not an issue. As for getting that just bring mats for a stonecutter and dismantle a dvergr ruin (some of which also give ygg wood).

The main issue i had was finding enough infested mines in relatively mist-free areas which took some sailing around, but that's it.

The silver spawns only above certain heights 🙂 you can use obsidian as a indicator, it has a bit lower altitude when it starts spawning so if you see some obsidian then there has to be a bit more mountin bove it for silver

it's not a perfect match, but obsidian is the closest indicator

if there's no obsidian, there's definitely no silver

Yes. While Charred are not weak against blunt but not resistant either, it helps a lot when you are surrounded by multiple enemies and you need knockback and damage.

Himminafl secondary attack works for that purpose too, and it is not as slow as Demolisher. Althought Charred resist pierce damage, Himminafl has partial pierce and lightning damage which both count to stagger effect thus making it effective for groups.

Preferably obsidian, while poison arrows have more total dmg most of it is in poison which needs time to act as it doesent stack, and even with weakness to fire the pierce of obsidian will still do more than fire, however if you have some lower tier arrows you want to get rid of now is the time 😄

but it was really frustrating to get so little iron, and require so much, that each piece of iron equipment took way, wayyyy longer to grind than the equivilant in copper, even when you're strong enough to take on the swamp without significant fear

ive been using the 4m corewood poles but even they often aren't long enough to reach the terrain beneath the water

well you can raise the ground up to 8m with the hoe, as long as you can reach. you can finagle some deeper poles with the snapping set to top in some cases but building in water is a tough cookie overall

not recommended in deeper bodies of water

if you have say a 4m core wood pole you can cycle snapping with q and e to connect the top of it to the bottom of another part which often gets you to reach the bottom of rivers and shallow coasts

you can build platforms that are ~1m submerged in water and still stand on them, being able to build

there may be cheese with debug modes or that mode where people can fly around but i never tried any of that so no idea if that would help at all

and of course if the water is too deep for that, its too deep to reach with the hoe too

you just adapt, you learn the creatures you get equipment on tier it becomes a non-issue.

Not really. You want a decent eitr supply to really get good use out of elemental magic so tri- or hybriding generally isn't worth it. Trying to use it on a single eitr food will just lead to frustration imo.

as for dead raiser they make useful meatshields who can take some attention off you for a bit, but don't expect anything major from your skellies aside from that.

My hybrid setup long before Ashlands were added was Ember and Protection staves plus melee weapons I liked (Himminafl, Mistwalker + Carapace buckler) and Arbalest. Armor setup was Eitr leggings, Root Harnesk and Carapace helmet. Food setup were the best HSE combo.

Groups of seekers died after hucking 2 or 3 fireballs and when eitr was regenerating I used melee.

Now I imagine hybrid play being even easier thanks to the feast combinations.

There’s a minimum amount of items you need to obliterate. Trophies and maybe some other items get more coal

trophies give 1 coal
everything else gives 0.1 coal.
and it always rounds down

(it doesn't remember the decimals for subsequent obliterations, always aim for a full number on the sum before pulling the lever)

It's technically possibly to do it without killing the Queen but you definitely want the things her drop lets you craft when you're going to the Ashlands for the first time.

my first time to ashlands i jujst did on a longship and hopped on the spires for a bit until reaching land, so from my pov killing queen is least important

but if you're missing out on stuff like sap, soft tissue, black marble, and ygg wood then its gonna be annoying

the waters around ashlands is very hot. killing mistlands boss gives you access to a boat that can handle the heat. you can just bumrush the shores of ashlands tho, since it takes a bit of time for the heat to hurt the boat. so you can skip boss, but id suggest at least setting up a sap farm and farm some soft tissue & black marble & yggdrassil wood
