The harpoon is a spear & does damage, so you need to enable friendly fire to be able to harpoon tames.

No worries about the tag, I'm just another gamer/player, so I don't mind. Some people (me included) like it because it doubles for chopping trees and no other weapon type is that level of utilitarian (intentionally). The atgeir and sledgehammer can be, but they aren't specificly designed to do so.

Only certain pets can do so. Wolves and an Ashlands creature, I believe. You just interact with the wolf to get it to follow you or stay.

Just be careful if it's a starred wolf, they can still die. I generally find it's safest to breed them where you catch them and take the offspring traveling just to keep from losing all your starred pets.

it's hard to tell since all the materials I can see look standard. It might be in a non-noticable way. They could have also built it in creative(simply a world modifier setting) instead of survival (because large builds are hard to do when you have a chance of being raided every so often). If it isn't, that is pretty impressive.

Don’t believe it’s a bug no. Shield will take full damage despite armor, block, parry, resistance, etc.

Also when getting fall damage it will damage both you and the shield

The lightning gem also gives a stun to some enemies and can chain lightning between them. I used my mistwalker for a long time but now swear by the nidhogg and berzerker axes. The jade gems are good against big stuff like morgens or starred warriors because once they are rooted you can just change to axes and attack from behind without them being able to move.

But most of my weapons use the lightning gems which are freaking awesome

Lightning is just extra damage, which aids in staggering enemies. Same as if you just had more damage on the weapon

if you think of each like a flashlight and the bones as batteries, you can add new batteries but the flashlight w/o batteries wont light even if the other does have batteries. in this case the bubble effect is the light from the flashlight. it can overlap, but only if both have batteries

It's tough for sure. March forward, place a gate repeat till you find those charred forts. Make the better food, weapons and armor and it'll get easier. The Ashlands are meant to be hell. Try a magic build too. There are some really nasty magic weapons once you progress that help a lot.

I pulled my blood magic stuff out of retirement, just to have something to take aggro, but levelling it is hell, and even with two eitr/one hp food, I am struggling to take stuff out fast enough with the ice wand, even kiting back to base. The new tameable is fast and two-shots me. The charred and voutures I have just been kiting and dealing with, but by the time I finish and go back to where I was, there are more.

I’m having a meltdown. When opening the game I just have a black screen but I can see the in-game cursor and I also can move it. I reinstalled it 2 times, even on different storages. Also updated the gpu drivers. On task manager the games seems running ok, using gpu, memory ecc. I’m running the game on pc via Xbox gamepass. if it was the last updadate, try wiating on the blackscreen for several minutes (5-10) and see if it loads. It is likely loading in the ashalnds in the background and (since it doesn't have a loading bar) you aren't seeing it.

if you tab out/minimize, it may pause the update effectively.

I think, based on how low those stats are, they can still work but it shouldn't be considered a weapon or armor. The way the game is made might require those stats to be filled in even if it isn't an item designed for combat truly.

Considering bats are only found in frost caves, killedbat key might be a better choice to disable the bat raid as the condition to kill bats can be very easy to avoid

But this is assuming you want to specifically remove bats raid but not surtling and blobs raid

the game uses a "host" to "client" system, where a person in a (100m i think?) radius either becomes the host or becomes a client, and all of the people in that radius communicate constantly with RPCs and with the server's world file, so that's why you get lag in that case -- their lag affects you and vice versa when you're near them in game. And when players go in and out of an area with other players, that host/client system reorganizes itself, usually with the first player in the area becoming the "network host"

I can't even imagine how. In Mistlands, you can escape enemies, lots of enemies do not climb, there are moments of quiet to rebuff. Ashlands is just constant mobbing.

Just progression wise. Like meadows to black forest is balanced. Its not easy but the creatures won't one tap you. Then you go to the swamp with your new bronze gear and all of a sudden everything is killing you. Then the mountains where you take one wronf step and 5 wolves jump you. Feulings will pack a punch even with silver armor. The mistlands and blackforest are the only 2 biomes that really seem balanced. Not too easy but also not dying at every turn.

Yes, currently we are a team of 3 a mage, a "rouge" and a "paladin" highest level of carapace. Eiter weave robes. And tier 2 ask armor.

I think that may just be an issue for your friendgroup though. Different people find different biomes hard. For example I find plains and mountains to be pretty easy, and Ashlands not too bad. But I do agree swamp can be terrible

I would add that 10 is really stretching it, a group of 4-6 people is easier to all get geared and not running into shortages or stressing the server too much.

Sprint somewhere high and jump off, most mobs can't follow, jumping over mobs also becomes a thing then.
Dodging gjall fireballs becomes a breeze and can even shoot an arrow back while in the air.
Besides all that, no more deaths to falling.

You could but I tend to fight gjalls from high peaks, so I can't be attacked by most other mobs and you can easily jump to other peaks to avoid the fireball, gjalls shouldn't get so close that you can't dodge the fireball.
You hear gjalls way before you see them, so the moment you hear a gjall try and get high.

There is a minimum distance from the world center before he can be found, so make sure you're not wasting time exploring black forests that are too close

You can save time by exploring only the shore, the trader icon will appear if you're within a generous distance, meaning you don't need to go very deep inside for it to show up

They aren’t as dangerous as they look. Let them start an attack and sprint back so you can see their animations, then approach and fight similarly to a troll once you’ve seen how they behave.

If you don’t have a tower shield they’re fairly easy to parry. If you do have a tower shield, you can easily get behind them while they do their slow attack animations.

Any flint weapon is good enough if you roll to dodge the attacks (rolling gives short invincibility) and don’t get your stamina too low

They hit hard. As you’ve already found out. But that’s true of everything in the Plains. Learn the different types and their behaviours. Try to take them out from range, if you can. They will all run around a lot. But they can be blocked, parried, and staggered quite easily.

Not as far as I’ve been able to tell.

IIRC, I found fire and frost quite effective in the Plains generally. But that’s somewhat more to do with other things there.

I feel the Plains is more about what you eat and what you wear than anything else. High stamina and speed are really useful.
