but now I never forget π§
Wanting less reasons to explore Valheim is a bit confusing for me, but we all don't want the same things from Valheim. I might've broken the habit of such things by the time I got into Valheim, but I was surely guilty of hopping into creative mode in Minecraft when I couldn't be bothered.
Runs dead π£
f
eh, spawning in mats because I forgot to take a few isn't really taking away from the exploration, it would just be sailing half an hour each way down a path I've already explored. It just saves me an hour IRL.
Oh I was referring to when you were using fly to look for a swamp specifically.
The other things, not so confusing for me haha
That wasn't me? Cuz I would agree, that would definitely degrade a key point of the game to me
Sorry, I got users mixed up, my fault.
You're fired.
Time to update that resume.
Also, the gjalls are some of the coolest monsters I've ever seen in a videogame
Yeah, I accidentally set one loose above the plains, Fulings were not happy with me.
i love bringing new players with me to mistlands because the reactions to their first gjall attack are always top notch
the mistlands are just so good all around
Aside from the mist that prevents you from actually enjoying the scenery
it makes it that much cooler when you find a mistless spot
Hmmmmm
true
so is the 1.0 and switch release not tied together? i guess that must just be speculation
Hopefully itβll be an alternative to the wolf cloak
Thereβs going to be a heh?!
It's difficult to say, but we may get some more news at the PCGamingShow happening soon!
On a pancake or if you really want to be fancy:
get some vanilla icecream, biscoff crumbs and strawberry jam.
Make some strawberry quenelles and freeze them, melt some chocolat and dip the quenelle in it and freeze again.
Shape icecream around it.
freeze that, roll the icecream in eggwhites and then in the biscoff crumbs and freeze again and repeat 2 more times.
Deep fry for like 20 ish seconds so the biscoff is crunchy and a bit of the ice goes soft.
Here's the post on X for reference: https://x.com/pcgamer/status/2056759464230011350
starting to think you really like sweets
my son continues to ask me daily when it comes out on switch lol
Cool
I really like cooking and experimenting with food and I've gone trough a desert phase and strawberries were heavily featured.
Aw, like a true valheim discord user
I cooked banana flowers for the first time last week, and now I want banana flowers in survivalcraft games lol
I've never even heard of those, where are they from?
Pretty sure they're from bananas.
Everywhere bananas are from I would assume
From the banana plant, used in lots of asian cuisine.
Ah, I'll admit I've only just recently started eating Thai and Korean food, so good. π
Thai yellow curry ... yum.
https://gardenbetty.com/banana-flower/ is a really good post about them, they're rather labour intensive to clean, and taste reminiscent of artichokes
Imo i dont think well get a concrete release date on the 7th. I dont think theyve given release dates way ahead of time sfter launching early access, because theyve had the freedom of not having to be bound by something like that due to their success.
Becahse of this i think theyd only give a vague time like sinter or fall 2026, or a short term release date. But a short term would be in june, and i dont think they wanna drop it fight before going on vacation and having a month of no bug fixes.
i like baking but i dont trust myself with any other manner of food creation
i can survive but it aint pretty
I'm predicting 1.0 release to be November 11th 2026
It's difficult to say, release dates, especially console ports-- typically have time constraints anyways, because you do need to pay for those services.
Publishers have a timeframe in mind most of the time as well.
Yeah and Coffee Stain is generally pretty transparent about them in my experience
Theyve already said ps5 for 2026 but that that doesnt mean 1.0 in 2026
Oh, trust me I know, I tell people that same thing verbatim maybe once a week since the ps5 announcement. π
I lurve to cook. Happy I've unlocked some more recipes in Valheim, too.
I've not experienced a Coffee Stain release myself, but I have done some research and that looks to be the case.
5000 hours in Satisfactory here
At least a third of which was afk, to be fair
I only have 5000 hours in games I've developed myself, that's a LOT.
Yeah, could get concrete port release date, but i doubt concrete 1.0 release date
Totally fair, my wife says I'm dangerously optimistic, and knowing that only fuels me. π
has there been any word on whether or not the deep north will get any world gen changes? i kinda figure they want to avoid it, but i would like it if it were more of a contiguous continent
especially with it being the last* place
As in, changes to what we're already seeing in-game?
Any time they add any new locations the world gen changes, so not sure what you mean specifically
right now its a bunch of (very large, like main continents in the rest of the world) islands i just think itd be neat if it were more like antarctica in shape
Ah, yes it will be quite different to what we're seeing now.
Like a big island? Antarctica is just a big island like Australia.
correct
There have even been teasers of ||a Deep North effect spreading to other biomes.||
Yeah, it would be nice if there were multiple options for world/continent generation, like the way Civilization does it
I concur. That would be neat.
holy 14 cores in one crypt
bout to be one heavy viking
atgir my beloved incoming
Not that we know off, devs didnt say it will, we know that both PS and Switch2 releases will be in 2026, but also no clue if they will be tied together or not. Oh, and they also continue reminding us that PS does allow early access titles so that we dont automatically tie 1.0 to PS release. π
thank you!
just bought the game today should i play vanilla or instantly mod it?
Why would you mod it if you dont know what vanilla is like? π
The game wouldnt be so successful if you needed to mod it
I would recommend doing at least one full plythrough before deciding if you want to change something via mods that you cant using vanilla tools
it was a long time before i felt like i wanted to mod the game, its a full experience from the start
2k hours, still no mods. Might try some sometime after 1.0
i tried a couple modpacks and didnt really stick with anything yet, so itll probably be post-1.0 that i give it a real shake for mods
If 1.0
Jkjk
I sit in my room every night and ponder what 1.0 will be like
Cold
seasonality mod that adds all four seasons to it. spring, summer, fall and winter
Not needed imho
I wonder if itβll just feel like the mountains
but there is indeed a mod for that
Is there a new type of cold
Probably more flat
A lot less hilly from the teasers we have seen π
Hmmmm
From the teasers ive seen the atmosphere is feels like a mix of black forest and plains
But cold
Plus meadows, due to ||abandoned villages||.
Isn't today World Bee Day? π
Ahhh yes. "Bee Together" for people and the planet.
The European honey bee has done almost as much damage to the American ecosystem as the earthworm
Invaders.
the honey bee conundrum is a really complex (and interesting) one
easy to fall down a rabbit hole on that
I hate falling down rabbit holes when I'm mowing the yard.
especially full of honey bees
...or whatever those bees were that had a nest in the ground that one time and stung me over 100 times. I have bee trauma that I'm trying to get over in adulthood by helping pollinators and stuff. I'm glad the bees are happy in my Valheim hive, at least.
Bumble bees usually are ground nesters
ground hornets are terrifying and single minded sometimes
watching them swarm something is like the same kind of scary as watching fire ants climb someones leg, you know that shi hurts
the most fun i had playing solo was 250 days in and i hadnt even killed the elder
idk, i was just out there building villages and whatnot, and i really had a good time
that definitely where it's at
and by no mapping it i really wanna make tons of structures to help me navigate
i should do that for my next playthrough, no map sounds like fun but its hard to get my friends on board with it and i kinda wanna play with them
its a lot of fun but very different
i like that it forces you to really carefully navigate and know exactly where you are / where you are trying to go
feels a lot more adventurous to me
but in a group of friends it might just be a hurdle and cause more tension / issues than people want to commit to
I think I'm on day 372 and also only just barely killed the Elder and found swamps.
i think around 400 i was on the ashlands last time lol
maybe ill go the knives route this time
always just feels bad when i dont find the abyssal razor though
Na you want to go battleaxe and fist
Usually a Levi somewhere around starter island
fists are good at parry
Heyo. Haven't played in a hot minute did vanilla last time I was round wonderin if anyone has info on the mod scene? Still active? Nexus vs Thunderstore? Stuff like that
still active, though maybe not as active as youre used to if you play a bunch of games like this
that said, plenty of stuff to choose from including mod packs on thunderstore through r2
Not really. Only survival crafting I've done is this and minecraft. Was debating getting Subnautica 1 right now or another one but figured I'd give valheim another go
Also how is thunderstore? Never used it and always stuck to nexus but last time I asked here most people said nexus mods aren't really up to date or maintained
Folks in #mods-discussion will have the most up to date info very likely π
only early, their block armor is the same on plains claws as it is on bf claws because reasons idk
righto i forgrot #u#
Hello, I just recently joined this group in hopes of finding/making friends to play with. Iβve completed one solo play through! Would love to experience this game with other players. Please add me if youβre interested!
your little faces make me giggle
Welcome π you can also look in and make a post in #1024264966712340510 if you want to
Ok. This sucks. I thought I'd found some clever info to keep myself and my base safe, but a troll just came and turned it into matchsticks. -_-
you can parry a lot with battleaxe too if applicable, tho it mostly likes to chop
BTW is performance still a problem when building really large bases? Or has that been optimized a bit? Remember last time I played it was kind of an issue
mountains have the smallest raid pool, my trick is to make an island base with a portal hub, nothing will spawn in water.
In Black Forest now.
Not nearly as much as it used to be, most performance drops in early days was from terraforming and thats pretty much gone π
If you plan to have gigantic bases you will have pretty much always some fps drops due to sheer number of instances tho
best biome for an island base, just need a lot of stone.
ahh yeah i think that was the issue i ran into. Flattened an absolutely massive piece of land
That should be really ok to do now π so no worries
Add gfx-enable-gfx-jobs=1 as a new line to the very top.
Add gfx-enable-native-gfx-jobs=1 right below the first line.
Know anything about these though? Just browsing through reddit and saw this for improvements
No idea π€·ββοΈ
you can add them to the steam launch args as -gfx-enable-gfx-jobs -gfx-enable-native-jobs instead of editing game files. then you can easily compare with and without them
Yeah I saw that figured I'd give it a try was just wondering if people had good experience with it
Thanks for the info tho!
Do people build up fill with the Raise Ground on an island / stone spot?
I do
I've never discovered a trader on my own man, good grief. We just did the first boss, and already all traders have been found
sometimes you do have to get on an island to get into the radius,
and schrodinger's trader locations are and arent until youve sniffed em out so
Small update on Longhouse Listings since I shared it here earlier:
I added the first 11 real listings using my own Valheim builds, and Google sign-in is now live so people can submit their own bases for review.
The Reddit post got some good feedback if anyone wants the context or wants to add thoughts there:
https://www.reddit.com/r/valheim/comments/1thatii/i_made_a_parody_realestate_site_for_valheim_bases/
Site is here:
https://longhouselistings.com
Still alpha, but Iβd love to get more builder feedback and hopefully start adding community-submitted bases.
oh yeah, good time for me to take a look at that now
Don't worry about island base, just build a moat around your base
Nothing will get in
And even from my humble experience, using atgeir on trolls is a sure-fire way to kill them
you inspired the google link. hopefully that's a step foward. love to know your thoughts.
i like the concept a lot, i like the darkwood background but some of the icons feel a little rough against it, would be nice to see them made in much the same way the emblem top-left is
a little unfortunate youve used ai to fill in some space now but i saw you said you dont want to keep any of that on the site so i wont harp on about it
curious what LMV stands for, feels like i surely looked over it somewhere, and also curious if you plan to do anything 'beyond the bit' like sharing world files or PlanBuild stuff (i have not messed with said mod so i dont actually know much about how sharing works)
Awesome site, thanks for the contribution
@static ruin so LMV is just Longhouse Market Value. I've setup a weight of the items I've allowed to be selected as a price so it can all be quantified.
Agree with the icons, glad you like the main one spent a lot of time on that one lol.
As for the ai did you check it out today? Got rid of the listings before and made some of my own from my own playthroughs. I definitely want to do more 'beyond the bit' that is why I am sharing it now. trying to figure out what that next piece is taht the community wants.
thanks for the feedback
It would be great as a blueprint sharing site for people using blueprint mods
lol people could schedule open houses and shit
lol that's what I was thinking. have a way to setup showings
also want to add a component piece to it. so instead of whole listings you can search individual parts like walls, stairs, bridges and stuff like that as like an inspiration catalogue.
yes! I like that furniture store. cool if I workshop ideas off that?
lets gooooo
And another wooden greatsword to add to the collection π
it was by sheer coincidence i found a wooden knife one playthrough
pretty sure I have one
I'm keeping all the wooden weapons I find and using them as wall decorations
yup
Setups like this beg for a sort stacks from inventory to nearby chests
Yeah I have quick stack/store/sort/restock and craft from containers installed
Like how neatly you've done it, but the overall building as well
I adapted a build from youtube
When I build it's mostly a spartan rural house and it's fascinating what can be done with the tools at hand
Got a handy video for nice shore base with a pier?
Or perhaps just a dock for longboat
I value efficiency not just style
Seen plenty videos that were too impractical to build
Unless using free building that is
Oh nvm
I can just add a dock and something to it
Handy tip I wish I knew earlier. As a dad gamer I'm lucky if I get 2 hrs a week to play. Got my 1st home base set up, defeated the 1st boss and done one dungeon and got 4 surtling cores for 1 klin. Progress took nearly a month π
played last night and realised you can increase the drop rate. Nothing crazy just put up to 1.5 so when I pickup 1 shroom I get 2. So a fair trade of for not being able to play that long and of course I can change it back when I feel the need to π way better experience and the grind feels less stressed
I never even noticed that
Lol
Would have been handy for me as I am also a time poor dad gamer.
Yeah, same here.
Though I would like more individual sliders for resources.
Like I don't want to get 2 surtling, black cores or boss items.
Double food items or wood and such, things that you constantly need the whole game through.
Now doubling those would be nice.
Ah yea man, big help with the grind especially in the bronze age and loke I said if ye feel that it's getting to easy ye can always dial it back. Think it can only be done in the start game menu not sure if you can adjust in game
If you are in a game and want to change it you'll need to use the console and devcommands.
Else only with the world settings before you get into a world.
Well Im just going into the iron age atm.
Just unlocked the stone cutter. Oml, not i can build a BASE! π€£
Another way to save a LOT of time is to turn off the setting that blocks you from taking metals through basic portals.
Never made it to the iron age. Years ago my gaming laptop up and died on me. But this time I will have my castle π
Yea. Think that's why I wanna switch it back when it comes to Valuable resources. Getting 8 Surtling cores from one dungeon is a bit much. It's designed in a way to encourage you to explore more, risk reward. For the liked for Food, building materials I think it's ok for the short time I've got to play. Sliders is a great idea
Some dungeons will give 8 even at setting 1 and finding such a dungeon is cool and a wow this was a nice dungeon moment but if all of them are like that or finding one that gives like 20 of those cores is silly in my opinion.
Though ones you are in the swamp and find a surtling spawner those cores roll in pretty fast.
... I am low key bothered by 10 ingots of copper, and 5 ingots of tin, becoming 5 ingots of bronze
A hundred arbitrary weight units just evaporated into the aether
Peers into the smelter to see where the rest of the matter went.
I see I'm not alone in this, I think either the weight of tin and copper needs to be lower or bronze higher, maybe give 2 bronze for each 2 copper and 1 tin.
Something to make the math makes sense.
Then again we are in the afterlife with magic all around us, math doesn't have to make sense.
most of the bronze items need less bars than other metals so it doesn't really matter. the arrows are very expensive though
Generally in most smelting operations (in the real world also) there is a lot of impurities that get burned away and leave you with less overall than you started with
... in ingots though..?
Anyho, finally got knarr, so can move materials a bit easier now
This starter island has a giant inner lake that can facilitate movement.
One ton of gold ore in general after smelting yields a few grams of pure gold with the impurities taken away
You keep saying ore, - I am saying ingots.
This is my second attempt at a playthrough too. My first one was ages ago. And j never got to the iron age because I went with a random seed, and it placed the elder soooooooo far away from spawn I just never got to kill him.
So I never got my swamp key
Imma be real with you champ, he's often gonna be pretty far away
Whilte that is true, if you take 20kg of processed copper and mix in 10kg of processed tin, with both already having their impurities removed, you aren't left with only 10kg of bronze.
Game really makes you travel a lot to get to bosses or biomes with the materials for progression in them
Well this time around i used the seed generator to pick a seed where he was closer. π
It's not a big deal, I understand the... game balance reasoning behind it. - I am just alarmed when I mix one part juice concentrate with 9 parts water and end up with 1 part drinkable juice.
Once I started playing im not ever gunna look at the seed again. And rely on the fact my memory is so shit I won't remember where anything else is.
And its worked. π€£ π€£
Unless you have a Fuling inside the smelter stealing two thirds of the bronze.
let's not start about how much food a dead viking consumes, a whole chicken with sides, a whole loaf of bread and 10kg of sea serpent all in one setting for example.
American portion size.
Games always do that sorta stuff.
Make stuff magically appear and disappear for balancing.
You learn just to not ask where it all goes.
π€£

hot potato hot potato
who's got th- OUCH THAT'S HOT
While I am complaining about minorly things, - hugin suddenly remembering he is a bird in later Hugin tips is oddly jarring.
hugh loves to spawn in my path and block my way as im running
I thought it was his brother Munin for a moment
Not gonna make the same mistake and thought the raft was a good idea. Longboats all the way this time
Don't quote me on this but I think Hugin saved my life one time
Draugr archer shot at me and hugin appeared between us, tanking the arrow (and disappearing)
At least it looked like that
Lol
If he had those odd vocal tics in earlier tool-tips I probably would not even noticed, but they just beginning happening around Mistlands and now it sticks out in my head every time I see new tips added.
I've started to enjoy using some of the new swimming equipment to bypass the need for a boat on some short ocean journeys
I was beating on a graydwarf the other day and a seagull flew between us. I hit the bird and it exploded (as they do)
It scared the shit out of me.
s
Saw someone accidentally kill a seagull with a fishing rod one time
IMHO: Give Munin the "kraa-caws" and keep Hugh legible.
I like Hugin.
I wish he'd hang around. So we could chat.
Bye for now peeps, got someone following me around to get a taste of what I do in a day.
He also wants to work for the police like I do and I can't really show me procrastinating now can I?
Lol.
Haze him.
Introduce him to Valheim
I is happy. I found a huge continent with Plains, Mountains, Swamp, Black Forest, and lots of Meadows. I have my stonecutter. Let the base building begin XD
what exactly means no boss portals? as long as a boss lives i can't use portals?
or is it only portals in vicinity of a boss?
While a boss is alive you can't use ANY portals, I believe
Prevents you from just hopping back and forth in a portal during a boss fight or leaving a fight unfinished
I believe it would be in the area where the boss is active.
Otherwise if you died during boss fight you couldn't use the portal to return the fight.
Haven't used that setting so not 100% sure.
I would assume that's the point, but idk
I've done a playthrough with boss portals but I never died or otherwise left a boss fight anyways, so it didn't impact me
this was my concern as well
So you can lock some poor shmuck inside a burial mound by summoning eikthyr while they're looking for surtr cores?
Well... boss dungeons, that is.
Not sure if that would work for regular burial mounds.
Heya, havent played in almost 2 years and trying to avoid spoilers. Started a hardcore no map run and encountered my first bear, scared as hell :D
Anyways, my question is, which mod would i use for neat farming, hate to manually do those rows and want smth like farming mod, but without the skill as vanilla has farming skill on its own now.
It says mod issues and I dont have issues :D
Well. That's what we got here. π
Then #mods-discussion π
There is one boss that is fought inside dungeon interior area. Which would mean you couldn't exit that area while the boss fight is going on.
π
π
Hi guys, in this group can you buy or sell game items or is it not allowed?
Ah, so a specific boss. Not any boss.
I mean, that'd be kind of silly otherwise
Unrelated: I wish Troll caves were deeper.
You hear these stories of the troll king and his opulent halls but apparently 99% of Valheim trolls are peasant bums.
Not valheim canon, but trolls are generally depicted as staunch royalists and monarchists in folklore and media
Nah, trolls just go smash
how do you get large quantities of stone?
You mine copper π
Just joking mostly, but it has the benefit of giving you both copper and stone. You can mine the big rocks in black forests that look like copper nodes, or you can go to plains and mine the big stone pillars there π
I just pick a fight with a Greydwarf nest
Slowly building a ring of palisades and campfires around the nest, using bits of greydwarf
I make a whole spawner farm out of it, dig a hole around and under it, get some wolves in there and a wolf breeder near so you can replenish if they die and just put myself somewhere safe nearby and go do something else for a while.
Yikes
Come back to heaps and heaps of stone, wood, eyes, dandelions.
Plus a bunch of other not as useful stuff to turn into coal.
don't have any spawner nearby so that won't do, nor wolfs
if youβre gathering massive stone amounts for some massive stone castle my advice is βdontβ because youβll just get more stone later the more you play and much easier ways to get it. start with a piece of it now and add on, or stone base with wood walls on top or something, if for massive stone walls use wood and add stone later, etc
not really a massive stone castle but a fair a advice
i will start with stone floor
When mining copper, whenever a greydwarf falls into the pit, do you switch to a weapon to clear the blockage or...
Just... keep mining. Until it sprays sap.
Setting up a server with mods if anyone's interested
a bit of sap on the pickaxe makes it smash better
Depends on how annoying it is being, if it is at a distance and throwing rocks, pushing me from my target I'll shoot an arrow between its glowing eyes, if it is melee range and not pushing me from my target I'll keep mining.
Finger like rocks in plains are a good source and silver veins
Been meaning to build something using one of those finger rocks as a foundation but uh
I am a practical person
Having a palace that touches the sky would take forever to move around in
Bedroom, kitchen, workshop, storage, I am content
how do i level ground properly, sometimes there's ugly bumps when raising ground and then no matter what i do it stays like that
Use ur pickaxe and u need to raise spots to level it sometimes
that's what i did but it stayed like that after leveling it
Takes some practice tbh if you keep your camera as flat as u can u can see the little bumps to hit out with your pick
you can only raise and lower 8 meters from original heigh, is that he case?
Also If youβre raising earth walls they only stay straight in the cardinal directions I believe and a couple of the in betweens.
i was only trying to level ground according to a stone floor
then had there a slight hill so put there a stone wall to make a garden that would be on another level but it's difficult to make the edges from mining straight
in the end i added another line of floor to cover the edges
Ive never put much effort into getting ground perfectly level, but I have made quite a few bases. And not once have I gotten ground that wasnβt at least somewhat bumpy
Was never rly an issue tho
what is the multiplayer scaling like? my friend said its 10% enemy HP for every person on the server
30% more health and 4% more damage for up to 5 nearby players
Oh my... I just looked into what our new friend abbot is. It has som serious dangers
is this map already released? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ScPTAG49Q8A
Probably you could join the Discord server found in video info and ask there.
sounds valid, thanks
what is the mod called, with what i can plant normal bushes? And where can i donwload it?
Folks in #mods-discussion will know π
alr, ty
Plant Everything
hello guys if we just look at the performance which is better troll or bear armor? im getting ready to fight the elder then i will go to swamp
@strange cradle
i like the bear outfit but i know lots of people like the troll outfit too
im just asking which is better the thing which one is easier to max out donest matter for me
mmmm it has varied for me, just depends on rng for which i run into more often
Depends, generally Iβd say troll might be easier to max out. But Iβd say bear armor overall is stronger
Can always mix and match depending on what drops you end up getting. The bonus for a full troll armor set is kinda useless. The bonus for full bear is really good but also a bit risky
how about head of bear and rest of troll?
I just do troll head and rest bear
litteraly opposite
I'm looking for someone to play Valheim with, who speaks Spanish because I don't speak English jeje
Bear trophy can be hard to get for helmet, and pieces of bear have more armor than troll
i have his head actually
Ohh okok thanks you ^^
Even then rather make bronze pendant from the bear trophy
i have FULL troll armor now level 2 everything and i could just switch the troll head with bear one? @thin elbow i seems to be most reasonable option for me
huh what is it
did you ever find a ruby in a burial chamber?
Meh if you already have full troll armor just stick with it
a lot
Trinket that is craftable at forge.
then you should have it unlocked
u sure? im not very good its my second gameplay
A small, extra amount of armor doesnβt do much, better to learn how to parry/dodge
Armor is a crutch
Troll armor is good enough. Bear armor set has nice bonus for stamina regen and extra slash damage but you take little more damage while the armor set effect is on.
25% can be quite a difference
Troll armor is good enough for Elder and first foray into swamps.
Sounds good. What the mix is doesnt rly matter, head, body, and legs all do the same for those armors
If you pair lvl 3 troll armor with a lvl 2 bone shield, the Elder can't touch you and you can block most enemies in the swamp.
It's not that huge at early game against smaller fries.
During plains it might be little more significant.
I was surprised how I felt no difference with the 25%. I expected it to be game changing
And that was on hard too, where the effect is (effectively) stronger
In hard it will be closer to a 25% increase to final damage than it is normally.
With 33 armor (bear set level 3) against 48 base damage (normal difficulty draugr) you will take 17.45 damage
With the weakness, you'll take 27.27 damage, 156% of 17.45
In hard difficulty the draugr will be dealing 72 damage, so that's 39 damage without weakness and 57 damage with weakness. 57 is 146% of 39
Mhm, meaning bear armor makes a bigger damage difference (in straight damage numbers, not %) on hard vs normal.
Normal it adds 10 damage, hard it adds 18 (if I read that right)
Hey guys, is there any projected date for the Deep north to release?
no
Gotcha
they are going to have a big announcment 9 june , im betting both my testicles they are going to release the game then. If they dont i will be a danger for myself
i'll take that bet too, since pc gaming show is on the 7th
Iβd take that bet but I donβt want the prize π
I saw that viking π π
same!
Im not ashamed. It's just not valheim chat β€οΈ
i can still see it
π
I need to cleanse my brain π
no fun allowed π
You called?
somone called
Kittens?
Lizard
OK, that was an awesome test. I had a fetid smell from the swamp, and I just stayed inside my new base the whole time. The earthen berms all around did their job nicely. But now that I have that set up, what's the best way to get up and out that won't get smashed?
Hm, maybe embed a door somehow? Would that even work?
stake walls are op. u can use the mid snapping point to lower them into the ground, making it impossible for mobs to pass but u can just hop over, the inside of the piece also has a little ledge that you can use with like 1 stamina to jump over
Worth a shot.
I was just fending off a wandering troll.

He ran away into the ocean.
what are dverger stakewalls made of?
iron and ygg wood
darn #n#
n probably souls when they make them
i'm excited for whatever announcement is on 6/7
coffee mugs
Harvested my first gucksack. Icky.
anyone looking to add a viking to their server?
Look in #1024264966712340510 π you can also make a post there
i did havent gotten any responsees yet lol
me and a buddy have a server but he shut it down for right now cause somehow a random got in we dont know how lol
It can take a few hours or in some cases days π since this is international server not everyone is in the same timezone.
-# Its 0:21 am for me now for example xD
You need to put in one of the tags from the channel i believe. Like Vanilla, Looking for group, Valheim server, etc
yea i figured it out lol facepalm
π€ what was the rando's name?
the traveler
π k, it wasn't me then
When you kill your frist bear and not using arrows
I killed one with a flint knife earlier π
try with flint axe
knife deals 50/50 slash pierce
Ohh haven't played this game in years, just made a server to play on since this community is more active then project zomboids
yo guys i have a world where im at the mistlands relatively close to fighting the queen - but i am hella bored with it, w/ all my friends quiting the world + the seed isnt all that great. Should i go make another world or should I play it out?
whats wrong with the seed
Iβd play it out. For me, itβs normal for worlds to stagnate at times, but if I keep pushing through then I end up really enjoying it.
Happens to me in Valheimβ¦ Minecraft, Terraria, Stardew, etc. perseverance is key π
With that being said, if youβre just flat out having a miserable time, start anew or play a different game
dam you just said like all my games. next you're gonna say project zomboid
I actually did play that for a little bit! But got too busy with life and had to put it down π«‘
ah life, the bane of video games
niiize, level 3 pufferfish, I can't catch those fuckers with anything more than 2m of line out
Is throwing a puffer fish at a dverger so it dies without triggering anger considered a cheese or legit?
I would consider eitr cheese but jury is out on puffer fish given what they do normally and you could trap dvergers in puffer fish traps and they die, so⦠? I know we all make our own rules but just asking for what some others think too
I wouldn't call that cheesing, it would be akin to throwing live bees at a human, they'd have no idea where it came from, and therefore no idea who to attack in response
But I suppose if it's a dvergr town, it would make sense that someone else would see you
I was an MMO player, but started getting into survival exploration crafting stuff. No Man's Sky first, then Nightingale, then um...Once Human. All different flavours.
This is kinda tough.
That level 3 puffer is going on my trophy wall. THere was a level 4 in that bay but I couldn't reel it in
i dont consider it cheese either but...
if someone threw one or the other at me id hope i could at least deduce who it was in an otherwise empty forest based on direction
or the fact theres only one tallfolk nearby
there is far worse cheese
Eh, I consider it cheese- but itβs also really clever and everyone should play how they want
Hey I wonder if I could get to the top of a dverger tower, push them all down, and then drop puffers to the bottom...
That would be kinda cheesy
imean i push them all together as much as i can then battleaxe them all at once, is that less cheesy than pufferfish? π€·ββοΈ
Nah that I can explain easilly enough, it's a sneak attack
Interesting tactic
Gonna have to consult the cheese council on this one
Would make for an interesting reddit straw poll
Game kinda gets me hard when I see the Raven after staring a new world lowk
You must really like ravens
You dont see em often in later biomes so yeah kind of nostalgic
Seeing them again
Yeah lowk I just got bored with the Mistlands so I've decided to put on my fenris set and explore the whole world w/ it
Might just start focusing on building cool stuff and leave progression off the table for a bit
Oh neat, my crafting procced a extra arrow while making arrows
.. Now I have a singular arrow because all the other arrow stacks are full.
This fills me with such OCD coded rage you would not believe.
Queen down! First time ever
Yeah sometimes they get onto a targeting striek
βWhat should they target by default?β
βWell Valheim tries to kill you whenever possible, soβ¦β
βYep, done.β
I mean, sure, but they're functionally useless as a base defense
Maybe decent for gjalls though
Or hare hunting
But that's probably it
do floors not count as a roof for workbenches?
Not wooden floors, no
ive traveled back in time
feel like i havent seen this complaint in years
valid though
lol yea I just read through some threads on it
the combat in this game almost feels easy after playing so many souls games
I also just discovered a very easy way to train combat stats: hitting Hugin will actually train your stats, and he just respawns for you to hit him again
chat does he know
I must not
I was cooking meads when ballistas shot me at the back
it was quite a funny first impression
Yeah it's funny once, but then I just deleted them all
theres some stuff you can to do make it a little less annoying
If something has, say 6 slash and 6 thrust damage, does each attack do 12 total damage, assuming no resistances?
You try programming a functioning FoF system out of greydwarf brains and dverger runes.
... actually can't you hang the head of the creature you want targeted on the ballistae?
Or did I just dream that
yeah thats one of the ways
you can also wall it in such a way and place them so that they cover places you dont loiter much
i dont really use them much
Correct
thats one way to describe them
They're dirt cheap and sets things on fire. What more can one ask for
Now, if it's raining constantly, less useful
I'm on my like third run now since my first one I ragequit after setting foot in the swamp for 30 seconds without placing a base of any kind nearby, and my second run because my starting island didn't even have 5 cores on it
just not my preferred way to spend a feather i suppose
I find fire arrows pretty good honestly
i would call them alright
by the time im getting obsidian, which is surprisingly early, i dont bother - but i do suppose most players arent fishing for obsidian before bonemass like i do
Probably not most, but I think going to mountains before Bonemass, or skipping him entirely, actually happens a lot
I am always out of feathers π
Honestly the melee combat is so much more fun than the ranged, I only ever use bows for hunting deer
Also the parry and counterhit sounds are some of the best ones in the game, rivaled possibly by the forge repair sound
ngl I played 95% of the game with no sound lol
You're missing out, the music is great
I just put on some music and play like that
Idk i just do it with every video game so it's become a norm
I only do it if the video game has little music on its own
Valid
Yep I carry a crossbow for a first shot from behind or a snipe and then knives out, light armour only.
Troll or fenris?
Troll then fenris then askvin
I upgrade knives as I go along with light armour as mentioned and crossbow. Keep moving, have a round shield also because parry is fun and knives canβt always block stuff.
Duel wielding knives and light armour is super fun.
You can dual wield???
There are some dual wield weapons in later biomes.
Also one recently added in meadows.
Neat
They technically count as one 2h weapon but act like dual wielded, you can't use 2 different 1h weapons at the same time.
dang..
Dual wield weapons are so much fun
I love fist weapons
Is there only one fist weapon or are there more
There are more than one.
I only knew of the bear paws what are the others
Flesh rippers (mountains) and Vilebone maulclaws (plains).
Neat
Skilled player can use them even in later biomes quite effectively, they are pretty strong when used right.
Neat
If I don't see a fist weapon in the Deep North I am gonna be pretty dissapointed
Same
genuinely holding out hope that Deep North will have one of each weapon skill category
NEW ATGIER
Though I also hope we don't get more weapon gaps filled in current biomes
Why not?
I thought more options would be better
I like that the game pushes you to try different playstyles
I find it kinda sad that after meadows, you can just make a sword in every biome and never diversify, and be just fine because all biomes (other than meadows and ocean) have 1-2 swords and slash damage is great against most enemies
Exactly why I am a sword main
Although I only started with swords in the Plains
Since Frostner was the most overglazed weapon but I only realized it only in the Plains
Took me a few years, but I'm starting to warm up to swords
Still hate maces
I would never go through a playthrough with just 1 weapon though. I usually try to main like 5-7ish weapon skill types, to keep the gameplay fresh
Maces are just a pain to use
they have too much kb so you can't even combo enemies properly
They are too defensive for my liking and lack offense
Only thing I like is that they do a lot of stagger damage
But fists/battleaxes/atgeir do just as much or more, and feel better to use (ok personally I don't use atgeir, but fist/BA is my jam)
Doing a kick with fist weapons is so underrated
Also battleaxe secondary suits it nicely since you can use it to start a combo
Atgeir secondary is just straight up op, no enemy it can't stun besides like starred soldiers or morgens
Himminafl is great against Morgen due to the lightning damage.
Sorta? Since it's resistant to pierce as well and the pierce does 85 while the lighning does 58
Morgen are weak to lightning.
Ik that but it's resistance against pierce which the Himminafl has more than the lighning
And lightning damage adds stagger.
so technically it would be doing less damage than it would if it was neutral to both
It deals slightly better damage than others at same tier that deal purely physical damage.
That's true
Although I like to fight them with Skol & Hati.
You can time full primary hit combo between parries.
thats nice most weaponds don't got time for a full combo
lightning axes are super nice damage
Lately I've been liking 1h-swords better for general gameplay though for the better parry power
A bit sad I no longer get 10 adrenaline on parries, but also understandable
Swords secondary + parry is probably the fastest way to kill most things
Or just the sword secondary in general
the 3x damage is bonkers
Starting Ashlands with a silver sword does feel like damn good damage to me, with barely any stamina cost
Spirit damage does suck a bit in that it's delayed and doesn't stagger
But if I can kill enemies in 1 hit, even if it takes 1 second for them to fizzle out to their death I'll take it
Will definitely upgrade to thundering nidhogg once I can
Why not make mistwalker?
It can 2 shot with its regular attacks instantly
I'd prefer that over the silver sword
A bit lower damage if irrc, I could always just barely 1 shot warriors with silver, but not with mistwalker
On Hard with mediocre sword skill bc I don't use swords much until ashlands
irrc?
i know its pedantic but i laughed at 2 shot and instantly
If I Remember Correctly
I emphasized that cause killing after 2 hits instntly and killing after 2 hits and sizzle over time with spirit damage is different
ye thats fair
Mistwalker is also kind of expensive. Eitr and Iron
Silver sword is expensive but silver is very easy to get, and by making silver sword early I can at least get some sword skill going by using it on geirhaffa and yag
i like dot it scratches a weird itch in my lizard brain
Fair enough
Last playthrough I used limited weapon types and non enchanted flametal weapons, which were Berserkir axes and Splitnir. Plus Skol & Hati.
Idk why, but my lizard brain is all in on loving one, big, damage number. Love snipers and chargeup attacks and all that stuff
Hate DOT, machineguns, etc.
That said I've learned to move past that and go for whatever playstyle seems fun and engaging
I hate DOT mostly because while it's dying it can still attack me
give you time to style on the haters before they die of cringe
Ngl I killed one too many chared to care about that
I forgot the countless bones thrown into the obliterator
At this point the obliterator is my source of fuel instead of the Kilin
I always feel bad trashing stuff, so then I end up just having it pile up and giving me more headaches to deal with π
The frost damage though
Slows enemies and claps some good dot as well
Convinced myself that Valheim will be a game in my retirement. My time old folks in retirement homes had Bingo, bridge, or shuffle board. By the time I'll be in a retirement home I'll be playing Valheim π
*Nurse- time for meds.
*Me- no I'm OK, I'm full on berry's and dear meat.
*Nurse- we better up his dosages
By the time 1.0 is released you might be retired yes
elder scrolls 7 will be in production
Gta 10
But seriously jokes aside, the game is fantastic I got 1300 hours on it but Damm if it was a bit faster with 1.0 it would be better. Oh well, all we can do is wait
That's odd considering the average wait time is 5 months between large content drops. Full release is the only update to push that timeframe.
Last year I finished the ashlands and prepared tons of food, arrows and increased all my skills to 100 for the Deep North
Ah don't get me wrong π I actually have a list of games I'm going to play when I have time. Tis the life of a gamer dad. No time. Im currently playing here and there and haven't really experienced anything past the bronze age π¬ so have a long time to catch up
-# Average is 8 months
Last I checked it was a 5 month average between content drops. You love trying to correct me. π
Between 5-6 months
I've just started the game, does anyone have any pointers? - I'm just before the stage of beating the 2nd boss
I did check the dates of content drops some time ago during another debate π€ unless my math is wrong (and it totally can be) it should be 6, 9, 8, 9, 5 and 11 month gaps
That is for:
September 16th 2021 - H&H
March 1st 2022 - Frost Caves
December 6th 2022 - Mistlands
August 19th 2023 - Hildir's Request
May 14th 2024 - Ashlands
October 29th 2024 - The Bog Witch
September 9th 2025 - Call to Arms
Ah, I am not necessarily speaking of just those updates, and more to just updates that drop content.
Listen to the bird, pick up everything you find
Oh missed the 2nd boss lol
Have you made the cauldron and mead ketill?
Which ones would that add? Honestly interested, not trying to correct you or anything π
Would you count the april fools update that added rocky for example? π€
The 5Y anniversary update would be added most likely.
Need to make both, as well as fermenter. Planted carrots?
where would I find carrots? I've yet to see any
Carrot seeds are white flowers in black forest
Planting 1 seed gives 1 carrot, replanting 1 carrot gives 3 seeds
So you wanna multiply them a bit first
I count anything beyond patching a handful of fixes. It's all content and just as important when speaking to how quickly valheim is being developed.
oho I see. also what should I do if the 2nd boss is over water. I'm pretty worried about there being sea serpents tho theyre rare
If you have a karve serpents shoild be no problem
alright thanks man. the help means a lot
Serpents ||spawn only during night and/or rain||.
good pointer. Thanks
If you have a fine wood bow and some decent bow skill you can kill them np even with wooden arrows
ill keep that it mind thanks too
What are the chances of the ||flametal ore vein|| to not sink? First time being able to mine the whole thing
1% chance to sink per hit
Ok, i was lucky it didnt sink, because everytime i get like 3-4 pieces of the ore, i was always looking at the thing if its gonna rumble and go back down
The best thing you can do is to not stop mining as long as you can π
If its gonna sink then its gonna sink, but at least you will not be wasting any time
Oh didn't know about that, good thing i didn't stop till i get all of it π
There's also a cheese, ||if you go through a portal fast enough when it starts sinking, it resets it so you can continue mining||
Logging out does the same
I discovered that by being greedy and dying because of not stepping off in time lol
You loose all status effects upon log out, not only rested. Tbh i dont remember right now why it is, but i believe there was an explanation.
pretty sure ive seen smiffe say it was an anti-cheese measure, same for potions
How is it anti cheese
Logging out with poison is cheese lol
Or tarred when fighting growths π
Wym? Don't we lose the poison effect on logout as well...?
Thats why it is a cheese π you are no longer poisoned
dont quote me cuz this is my old brain memory, but i remember him saying it helps remove the practice of logging out, healing up in a different world, logging back in with full hp and also rested and potion buffs still in place
Yeah... So my question is still same.... Why do we lose all these effects when logging out
How is it anti-cheese
That might be it π€ i do remember something along those lines too
Just keep all effects, positive and negative
because you can at any moment log into a different world, sit down, heal to full, and rejoin the old world with full hp and all positive effects
That makes no sense. We can anyway just logout to a world with top tier gear and resources and take them to the other so it doesn't change much. Except for the inconvenience of having to rest and take the same potions again after relog.
which you can still cheese and do but at least without rested and potion buffs
I just don't think it does much of so-called anti-cheese more than just being impractical
I think I get why it is removed, but I'd agree with it being better if all status effects / buffs were not removed on logout
imean yeah technically its⦠idk. yeah you can deccommand max items and stats and just not have rested buff when you log in lol
i have lots of devcommand feelings, but i know theyβre necessary to sometimes legit fix worlds
ideally the game would be in a state where devcommands are only for cheating and you can only do them in a creative mode world or something
although once cheater tags and achievements and such are in place, the resting removal thing will be more of a deal because people will be able to cheat less without being marked with the mark of shame
but its also who cares, its a steam achievement. people will still cheat and mod and whatever. what people do in their own home behind closed doorsβ¦
downloads "Enable Achievements" mod immediately after 1.0 releases
I dont understand people who use mods or exploits for achievements, what is even even the point of them at that point?
The only situation i can sort of understand it is when game is older and for some reason certain achievements become impossible to get. There i can see why somebody might want to get those if they already did all the ones they actually can.
lol a mod that makes achievements pop up like you earned them even if youre a cheater, thats hilarious i bet someone would make that
these are the people who played duckhunt with the gun pressed against the tv screen
Heyyyβ¦I did that π€£
I attached a rifle scope to the light gun. Is that cheating?
I was also like, 4.
Doubt someone will do it so mods like Subject or Hyper could do that.
ima make a new jeff foxworthy inspired routine. βif you played duckhunt with the gun against the screen, you maht use dev commandsβ
"If you put a real scope on your fake Ninendo gun, yah maht be a redneck..."
βif you know the gamegenie code for infinite lives by heart, you maht use devcommandsβ
When I was little I got a gameshark, plugged it in and typed, "all guns put together" as a cheat for goldeneye. Didnt work.
You have earned the achievement "Waste My Time"!
you can set your forsaken power to brimstone in another world why does any of this matter lmfao
Besides which, cheating is subjective generally anyway. I have the gamma turned up in the crypts because they're so dark, the game is literally unplayable for me inside them. The eye strain is too much for me, even with the circlet or wisplight or torches.
is that cheating?
having fun is cheating
you're robbing everyone else of their hard-earned suffering
π this man Valheims
i wouldn't be a gamer if i didn't enjoy suffering
I suppose you could make the argument that turning the gamma up for darkness is a handicap, not a cheat.
Now, here and there I just get sick of the darkness (especially at night IRL) and just devcommand the weather to clear. That, I would call cheating
ultimately its a single player game with optional coop with people you deem trusted likeminded friends so it really doesnt matter, tho it would be nice it the lives of people trying to host worlds was a little easier
The issue I think is that the game has some decent PvP potential
i've hosted my world plenty without issue
okay that's not 100% true.
if my network is bad the other player gets kicked
βYouβve got rough hands. Youβve got rough hands brother. Never touched a pc in your god damn lifeβ¦ Iβm over here gaming 25 hours a mother fucking day. Youβve got rough hands.β
connections have to get way better for real pvp to happen
i did dream about this discord
Wouldn't know, I've only played solo
I donβt know how to feel about that
But I can see the potential for some interesting tower defense PvP
haha imagine trophies tied to player ID, so you could get a Striek trophy, that makes ballistae only target ME

combat would have to change somewhat, parrying would be too easy since theres only 2 ways a person could attack with a weapon and no penalty for missing a parry. it would be 2 people staring at each other waiting to parry
Id tie all my ballistas to Striek
Well I'm not sure actual PvP combat would work with this system, but a king of the hill/capture the flag mode probably would
spamming parry happened in high level ds2 pvp
yeah but at least you had light, heavy, rolling, running, there were ways to mixup and punish a failed parry, in valheim a failed parry is just a block or a re-parry immediately after
Why don't we have a button to cancel a shot with the bow
We do, RMB
Oops my bad
can someone give me 5silver ingots or ore and 2iron ingots or ore
I only figured it out by accident when my middle finger twitched and cancelled a shot, or I wouldn't have known either
following up parries isn't particularly clean either
pvp in this game is a total non starter bc of netcode unfortunately
Not really. The pvp in this game isn't fun
It generally boils down to nobody attacking because your both waiting to parry eachother
Just press F5 and type devcommands then spawn silverbar 999 and spawn iron 999
oh
π€―
11/10
over the fire too long, turned into coal?
You called us chat like a streamer, pretty cooked I'd say π
Kate is a streamer
id say your love for frostner is worse than cosy resource collection π
Frostner most overglazed weapon in Valheim
At this point people been brainwashed to belive it's the best in the game
I dunno if Iβd say brainwashed. It has some positive qualities that most other weapons donβt
Itβs just preference, but I too am surprised at the amount of hype over it
it's bad in it's own biome, gets outlcassed in the Plains, and Mistwalker is fully superior in the Mistlands
Weeny hut Jr hammer
True, those are some of the downsides
Biggest downside for me is just the annoying knockback
Yeah i came to bonk with a hammer not make space
takes 4 hits to kill a goblin, 2 hits with a porcupine
3 with a knife
knocking back the enemy is a HUGE downfall
leaping stab, poke poke
Most of the time 2 poke is stagger and third hit strong hit does the crit
you leaping stab, miss the fulling and hit the 2 star berserker instead
Happened once, not a good experience
or that, i like leap to stagger and 2 crits after too, used to knife gobbies all the time when plains was endgame
Upsides of Frostner is thatβ¦
itβs viable (not the BEST, but viable) in 2-3 biomes after itβs made. Saving you resources and allowing you to continue with maces even when they skip a 1h version in mistlands
Has big knock back and frost slowing (if youβre into that)
Look cool
Terrible weapon for me, but I can understand why some might like it
its like⦠the melee version of kiting with frost arrows
Stunning them would make more sense since ur knocking the daylights out of them but thats a primal thing and imo kinda op for mt
They could "freeze"
Good morning everyone from Los Angeles
hehe, like a cold stagger bar? so much cold damage and enemies freeze briefly?? thats kind sweet actually
move frostner to black forge π§
should have poison bar, spirit bar, etc
At x stacks apply brief stun
Idk which is better
ya, or just a stacking slow
idk it would still mean things die 2x slower zzzzzzzzzzzzz no thanks
Stacking slow that becomes a stun where they freeze and u do more dmg because theyre icy and u break the stacks to 0 π
Hello, is valheim getting a split screen when do comes out on the ps5?
i don't love frostner i just like it like marge simpson liked her potatoes
Like local multi-player
We dont know sadly
my brother was asking about split screen valheim last night
had to tell him it probably isn't coming π
Split screen probably won't come. Game is either solo or co-op multiplayer which requires internet connection.
oh a shelf?
shelf own :B
i didn't actually watch much simpsons, did marge keep potatos on a shelf
i just think frostner is neat
Frostner is neat
Itβs got Mjolnir vibes
Does anyone know if there is a possibility to have multiple initial starter-spawns?
As in the big circle with sacrificial stones?
Exactly.
Was interested in splitting our circle of friends and having them colonize their own area... Could have been fun π
can i join
I mean. You can do that i guess. But you will have to be careful with the placement of the circle since it cant be removed, even with commands.
The hopes were on: select one of X starter areas -> that's yours from that day you joined; cannot choose others past that choice.
Make your way through the world, without knowing who and where more people might be.
Thats a fun idea!
can you respond
yes. Not setting anything up today.
was just asking IF this is even possible in the first place.
once I figured out how to realize this idea, I might make a post in the server section
What is there to find in the Plains except dark metal and berries?
Tar
Where does one viking find tar?
beware the enemies in the tarpit
nasty creatures
I see, I never really dared go into camps, they seem very powerful. Any tips on how to go against them?
Im not sure at this point I know how to identify the tar pits but I guess ill find out π€·ββοΈ
For Growth Blobs, try to get a sneak attack with Huntsman Bow (Spear is sketchy because I think it could get stuck in the black tar) If engaged in close combat with a Growth, try to dodge roll your way behind it, so it can't attack you, rotating it in circles while you bludgeon it.
For villages, Huntsman Bow down the Shamans, then crowd control the Fulings with either an Atgeir, 2H Axe, or bombs
frost arrow the big dudes too if you like
Eikthyr is very helpful for these villages, too
Agreed, and even fire arrows on the growth blobs, since they're weak to fire
can someone plz
lol fair, it IS neat XD
.
ok
If you get really lucky you may get a youβre being hunted raid in a village then you get entertained as well as clearing out the village.
I'm learning to appreciate Krom. It's blocking power is pretty good. So I can use it to demolish seeker soldiers pretty quickly.
@dawn basin you can use iron beams to support him on the legs, so that you dont even need raised ground
aquired π
i was a digus though and used my iron on a chest peice and a hat
now im out of iron and i forgot i can just make the root set for those spots and it'd have been way more useful
i love krom
Yeah. It's definitely growing on me.
If it weren't so hugely expensive to make, though. π
@vast moth english only please
singlewield 2h melee weapons tend to have pretty good block/parry
Sadly can't say quite the same for the dual wields
got too overzealous and died to a draugr spawner π
1 star archer and 2 star normal guy, few skeletons
they just dots'd me
Time to run it back
yep
SLOWER
i will say lv 3 bronze atgir stunned everything with the spec though, which was nice
even a 1 star elite
only reason i died was the arrows .... gotta not mess up next time, i need to make the root harnusk asap
Gosh dang pointy stick been strong for too long
since 398000 BCE
Pole arms are nice. I find myself gravitating more to knives every playthrough though. Fast swing and recover if you have good parry timing.
π€¨
maybe i'll give those a go again
i made a copper one and realized quickly i disliked them lol
ahhhh day 2..... build-a-base day
I donβt believe Iβve ever made a copper knife. Usually go flint to abyssal
If youβre a taming type of person it gets leveled from using butcher knife too lol
I always like to recommend fist weapons if you haven't given them a proper chance
I tried to like fists something about their rhythm throws me off though.
I can see how they are good though kick staggers and 2 hit combo with 2nd for extra damage.
i dont like how much post-kick time there is, some enemies you dont even get a punch off before they un-stagger, its more like an interrupt
i like the fist weapons but yeah their attack takes getting used t o
whenever i see a 1 star bear in a new run i just think "ooh free fist weapon"
haha same, love some bear loots i run for them
then claws kill bears so good too means even more bears to kill
Very understandable, that's how I felt about them for a long time
i just like how easily attainable they are for the biome
bronze takes a while but i can run crypts ez mode with bear paws
Anyone know how fast a mobs stagger bar depletes?
I wonder if the ideal situation to avoid Yacko's much hated kick-lockout is to kick a mob bringing right to the edge of being staggered but not quite there, then following up with a punch to stagger and then just chaining punches

false! they clip the walls! well if you can lure things or fight things in a large room sure, otherwise claws all day for tight halls
good luck kicking things and not staggering them tho
I know, it's not much something you can do intentionally π
I have wondered about how stagger depletion works tho
to be fair its great against things that stagger longer, just early against greydwarves for example it feels silly to not just punch them
Found a wiki post. Technically it says it's outdated, but I feel I remember hearing 20% stagger reduction per second several times before:
"A Troll has 180 stagger limit (30% of 600) and is dealt 50 Pierce damage per second. Because it is weak to Pierce, it actually takes 75 physical damage per second. Since the staggering level is reduced by 36 (20% of 180) per second, it would take about 4.6 seconds to stagger the Troll after it had lost 345 health. 75 Pierce damage per second would stagger it in 2.35 seconds after it had lost 264 health."
That's actually a bit slower than I expected. No wonder chaining kicks or battleaxe jabs does wonders at stunning even stubborn mobs
1500?
lordie lmao
1600
And resistant to blunt and pierce
Axe it a question
lv 17 clubs off that one bear lol
Use a torch to scare it away

Me over here with barely 95 HP and taking 20-30 HP off a bear at a time.
That is really not bad at all π
thats plenty hp! parry the swipe and full combo his furry face off
Bears can be intimidating but even bronze weapons and parrying/blocking can keep them at bay. Once ye learn their attacks and when to dodge you'll have a nice bear headdress to show off soon
I'm intimidated by a lot. >_>
Or not π I've intentionally at least killed 20 trying to get the bronze pendant and no trophie
You got this πͺ bit by bit you'll get stronger and braver
Dam....yea! Just googled and your right. I thought it be easy to get. Was in my to do list. Well guess it now π
I'm next to the swamp. About to tiptoe in.
Swamp was the furthest I got in my last playthrough. Then laptop died. Armour up, stock up on Health and Stamina and steak the place out frist until your ready
the humble greydwarf squad interrupting a black forest 1v1:
yeah swamp is the first biome i feel like you really want to fully upgrade and utilize everything possible
also you learn to not waste your stam bar sprinting around
great items you'll wanna keep all that
@regal cave Sorry I can't be on today. but I will play tomorrow. I asked FireGod to help us too to clear it fast
Uh oh. I think I built below the water table. Is there any way to keep the tide from coming into my base?
I might have to raise everything up and rebuild. -_-
classic
many of my bases are made too close to water
but also rebuilding is kinda fun since you have full control
a lot of initial base builds are done of necessity and timing restriction
;-; I just wanna play Valheim but I'm probably gonna leave the group I'm in, and there isn't a good option in lfg. I hate these lag periods when I don't play waiting it while I wait
i feel that
I feel your pain. Iβve been trying to work up the will power to reset my dedi and make a lfg for like a week lol.
OK, this is interesting. I was all set to go explore the swamp and I think it's just this tiny little strip on the shore.
sounds like you should just play solo
but it is solo π₯Ί
That usually happens with my first bases, as I usually build on one of those rock outcrops on the shoreline.
I have my new base im building on an island. I actually started by building a stone wall 4 blocks high. (Two of the 2x4 blocks stacked) then rose the ground up on the inside of the wall.
Then im going to build on tgat artificial plateau
I don't have stone yet. π
I have no interest in playing that way. I have no idea why but I just don't have any motivation to play alone even tho I do all my own building/harvesting/grinding in multiplayer anyway. I just need someone around to chat with and show my builds to/what I have going on
You soon will if your going into the swamp.
You only need 2 ingots to make the stonecutter
hey thats why i dump all my obnoxious "look how good axes and spears are" content in clips XD
Lol
I cant play in groups.
My lag is horrible
lag kills it for me a lot too, need my crisp parry timing
I lag regardless of solo or multiplayer π
Lol damn
the actual eff, i just got launched SO FAR into lava standing not even close to the wall with a taming asksvin inside it
I've spent about a week getting to this spot and building up a base and working my way over to the swamp only to find it's just a tiny strip. Now I shall never get stonecutter.
there's probably swamp pretty close by just sail a little further away from spawn
Smelting in this game takes sooo long
Just throw a bunch of ore in and go to bed
Thats what it was like in my first game. I found the tiniest piece of swamp. Id had no crypts.
But what it did have was an abomination. So I was able to make the root armour.
Which is pretty cool
Abomination? Hm. Just leeches, draugr, skeletons, blobs.
there can still be iron there, do you have the wishbone?
no
I think that's something I get from the third boss. I've only done the first two.
Ahh finding that perfect swamp and that perfect build location⦠so time consuming.
Bear claws feel so cool to use, I might do a full bear loadout for the elder
Okay, I just spotted an abomination! Or rather, it spotted me.
I got lucky and the main swamp I go to is bordering a plains biome.
I normally just bait fulings to fight it and make fuling jelly π
noice
im ready for ps5 release so ad
Imagine if ps5 release had ads
I usually just use flame arrows.
But they arent hard to keep away from as thier pathing gets a little confused trying to navigate the giant unbreakable trees
I hate how the bear headpiece requires the trophy
I hate how the bear
I like it. Makes the helmet look mighty nice
If I have 2 out of 3 pieces will I still get the berserk set bonus?
you can pary that abomination easily
If you find ||Black Forest trader||, he has a rug you can smash for a trophy
It's the phenomenon where when you don't want them they're literally everywhere and when you're looking for them you don't find a single one
Valheim in a nutshell
Oh yeah, I've never actually found him, I kinda forgot he exists
Ever since i started building a proper base
All the game sends after me is troll raids
Granted its the only raid that can really do any damage. Lol.
#screenshots message
Maybe the game realises that. π€
Super in depth building systems are always so fun but I always end up making silly bases anyways, my current playthrough my base is just gonna be a giant tower that I'll progressively make higher the more I progress
Yes the game has full player action guessing and does the opposite to try kill you. Built way before AI came in.
The last raid the trolls spawned over on the mainland and had to wade thier way over. Lol
Corewood spikes on the sides
Gives a good stagger and u can knife em after that
And then just forget about them and hit them yourself, be almost dead and then greyling floating around finishes you off.
I was considering making a little pocket in my wall they can come up into that has spikes all around.
What are the actual chances of bears dropping trophies?
Unbearably low.
π€£
I looked it up and it's a 10% chance, not as bad as I thought but this is gonna be a tough grind
I got one im not using.
Ill prolly just put it on my wall. Lol
Iβve never really understood the fascination with the bear trophy trinket
Well im planning to put all of them up
U gotta at least make one of everything
Bears are not rare.. you run into then 2-3x more than trolls.
Been the opposite, only one bear so far and like 9 trolls.
Imagine if there was Bear raids π
I run into bears all the time... trolls seem to be a bit rarer than bears, IMHO.
All rng I suppose, but bears definitely do (on average) have more frequent spawns than trolls
Bears have "uncommon" frequency and trolls have "very rare" for being randomly spawned. Although trolls also can have one time spawners in and/or outside troll caves and also they have their own raids.
I would like to give a moment of appreciation to the devs for adding fiddle head ferns to the game. Such a fantasy looking plant that exists in real life. Also thank you for making the plants drop multiple ferns at a time so we don't need to spend as much time foraging in the Ashlands of all places. π
has anyone done the ninebyte/dhahkar adventure map yet?
So Mountains biome is typically the 4th biome but then why does the Mountains biome spawn so close to meadows biome. Also I've tried to venture there and I get wrecked by Wolves. Is it worth exploring Mountains now this early in game? In bronze age
Best leave it for later. You'll gather materials from swamps for mead that grants ||frost resistance|| which helps survive the environment better.
Mountains have pre-determined locations based on the bigger world map.
Gotcha, swamps then snow. Don't know what's worse. Wolfs or Draugr's
Wolves hit harder.
If you have bronze equipment already you are good for swamps.
Draugr are also way slower and more predictable
Their attacks are easier to predict, but they can run fast.
on my way to take vengeance on a 2-star draugr elite and his buddy 2-star archer, I ran past an unsuspecting bear, and was greeted by a 2-star draugr. Just past my body, awaited a 2-star leech. All in one night. β β
Not even 2 star bear?
average swamp experience when you finally find one with several good crypts
nah, just a normal one that time XD
the 2-star bear had a word with me just before elder though. Screenshotted that guy, he towered over me 8)
Two star draugr elite
Ouchies
π
Ooff
what's funny about this was that it was the aftermath of a 2-star troll (w/ club) interaction
#screenshots message
Geez
I haven't seen any two star anything yet.
Thank goodness
Dam....Swamps gonna be fun. Gotta prep
Prep with poison means.
Lots of them.
This was in a world with a challenge with only fist weapons + knives
(also no health (red HP) foods, heavy armor, sneaking, meads, trinkets, nor cheesing or glitches...)
[I also disabled s key and cant back down from fights...]
So I literally had to go kill them, as part of my self-imposed rules
Last time I found 2 star bear it was very close to Rocky clearing.

I'm suicidally lazy with early game mead making I just run at blobs with a blunt weapon and pray
Bro, you just took 10 years off my life making me read that.
Oh and no shields. (normal world modifiers)
br00tal
That was me on my first play through.
And I wondered why I died so much. π€£
it usually worked out for me since I always had a leveled bronze mace going into swamp
Actually here: #screenshots message
We'll be right back
Not me taken notes for swamps π Mead, Mace, Poison
bronze buckler + axe/sword for abominations (tree monsters)
by the time you're in swamp you can typically parry their ground slam repeatedly with a good buckler and hack them down relatively quick
Last time I made it this far I saw one and was like.....nope
this time I'll be ready
If all else fails hide on top of a crypt entrance and poke at them
π€£
Yep.
It takes a bit longer, but I use fire arrows.
