what activates it now? i havent killed the queen. i've only been inside the mistlands
still Yagluth, turns out I must be remembering wrong
Last time I was sought out only 2 seekers came i was disappointed
i get like 5-6
i assume soldiers can come but i havent seen it
it also came right as i started cooking my misthare supreme so it's just like...guess my food will burn
Oof rest in pepperoni misthare, thats a tough one
Can you deconstruct the oven?
i thought about it but i didnt wanna have to place them back
nah but i got like a sign on them and some specific chests next to them and im not sure if i would have to remove the chest after to refit them or not for obstruction reasons or whatever
got a crypt with 136 iron inside. very cool when it happens
about when should i stop trying to parry with Paws of the Bear?
Hello and my friend were playing valheim today and we decided to raid a fortress in the ashlands. Right after using the battering ram to break down the wall, about 40 mobs came out. Is this a bug?
Sounds about right. it is supposed to be the hardest biome currently
i can respect a challenge, but this seemed like parody. It was literally impossible to win that fight.
We have the best possible gear you can have at that point and we did not stand a chance. I'm thinking that it is somehow bugged since on that server i had the public test branch.
Also the game was literally lagging because of the mobs, thats how many there were. I dont think im over exaggerating when i say that there were 40 mobs 😭
Perhaps, I have yet to do a fortress. Best of luck, be patient and live to fight another day!
🤠
40 skeletons, surprise!
There's a reason players cheese fortresses by building a staircase to the walls.
An you discovered that reason.
As there's spawners inside. But there's also at least one particulier mob that spawns more skellies.
finding a vile trophy isn't fun
running around plains some nights all night without even seeing a vile and then if i do they dont drop it
Maybe trophy hunting isn't for you then 😅
i don't know if thats fair to say compared to the other trophies its much harder and i hear the vile armor isnt even very good
i want it though
I think it's fair, you don't have fun with it, you don't have to do it. 🤷
I had fun with it personally, it was a unique timeframe hunt, and feels good to achieve.
you make it sound like getting lucky to have one spawn is a skill issue or something
i rather hunt for vile trophy than alot of trophies in game
I'm laying it out for you that it's entirely optional, should you want to keep having fun, you don't need to do it.
It doesn't have to be fun for every single person.
My backyard spawns one like every day XD
Also always good to stock up on needles
yeah dont they have set spawn points?
do they?
Not sure, kind of one of those "if im not looking for them" things
When you cruise into the Mistlands in your karve and find a nice shallow point next to a dvergr harbor to demolish your boat and....its inside the dvergr ward.
Rip chris
1 star mage incoming i imagine
most enemies don’t have set repeating spawn points, if they do it’s something visible like a tar pit or surtling spawner
I remember reading that the vile did though
where?
It says anywhere very rare plains at night
Hello guys i have a question. I just beat the last boss and i dont really know what to do i have the object from de last boss(father)
Chores until the deep north
it does nothing for now
Ah i see 🥲
although i dont know if the item itself will change to the correct one once the game updates or if you need to redo the boss
the item will update itself, you don’t have to fight again
You could try a no map run with a group
it was funny bc I killed a vile one night and then turned around ran a few feet and there was another one 😂 I have a vile trophy I can log on and give you I don't need it for anything
Yes why not it was a really fun game with my team i really appreciated it.
would you rather have no map or no portals?
And do you know if it will be the last boss in the north ? Will there eventually have an end to this game ?
Deep north is the end yes
I dont really know what is the best but we will see bc i already played 300 hours 😂
No map. No portals sounds more painful (ill get there one day)
would be a true patience stretcher to do no map no portal. i play with portals and ore through portals because i really don't wanna do all the extra sailing
And btw sometimes i see a ghost with a dark cape on his head but everytime that i reach to him he go away do you know what to do ?
Oooooh i seee
a fun little thing
Yacko plays no map no portal haha
i can respect people who take on the challenge
I wonder if yacko would let me join his next run 🤔
i know people mark paths and stuff with the hoe but my memory and direction are so bad i would lose where i am for sure
Once you know the tree the only downside to no map is not having an in game cartography device. You end up either trying to juggle the earth in your head or just making a map with third party based on your in-brain map
After my current run finishes up I would love to play with Yacko or users I actually am familiar with from the Discord lol
if you're ok with the fact that i can play for like 1.5 hours a day max i'd consider it and it would depend on the lag
worst case i could empart some no map/portal wisdoms
i heard the no mappers use the world tree branch thing to orient ?
If youre starting a new run when im not in the middle of one i would be interested
It’s difficult for sure. I hand drew my own map to keep myself on track and still got constantly lost
I like sailing, I'm leaning towards no portals
no portals makes it a lot easier to get lost heheheh
how about just die to get back to base 🧐
Though I haven’t played with it much, I do recommend no portals. It gives a new feel to the game that is hard to envision before trying it
No map is cool but takes a certain type of person imo. Most prob wouldn’t like it
Better hope you don’t have hardcore death penalty on too
I'll keep that in mind when a new run begins
what does that entail exactly
i doodle stuff too lol, it helps. to be honest sometimes i explore a "new" continent and find a campfire, it's a very strange feeling.
for better immersion, when your character goes underwater, pour real water on your hand drawn map
yeah... lol it's almost comforting having hardcore death cuz you don't have to find your body XD
If I played with you ever I would be okay with no portals....but not no map XD
new run could start any day because this is the SECOND time a moder marker points me through a big cloud ball area...
hm im start a no portal yes map run that sounds cool
they actually go together really well, they're symbiotic
Indeed, but the level of satisfaction I get from clearing whole continents coast to coast on the map and seeing that beauty is too satisfying for me. The map grounds me I need it loll
its gotten so i know exactly where i am and how far from home by looking at the tree, takes time and doing it a bunch obviously to see how the tree changes
hmmm
fair that's satisfying too, sometimes it's hard to move on not being entirely sure if i searched EVERYwhere for haldor or something
but there's nothign like seeing that glimmer in the distance
rob haldor
the merchants are evidence that there are other vikings around
or were...
you wouldn't be a traveling merchant if you didnt think there were customers to be found
I think they just have stuff bc theyre magicians and they like to scam you
On death you lose everything in your inventory (you don’t drop a tombstone) and your skills get reset to 0
I played in a server with that death penalty, very hard difficulty, 0.5 resources, no map, no portals, max raids. And a few personal challenges like not using bow at all
A bit frustrating at times but def the most interesting world I’ve played on
At this point of super hardcore, dont you end up playing super soft core?
Never
Though I have since found I prefer regular hard mode difficulty
And that no map no portals was a one time thing to try out though fun
Based
I think everyone should a passive/nocost/resourceX world just to experiment
I like to fight so I wouldnt want to be against enemies I have to invici-roll around
I like to do a lot of my own challenges in addition to modifiers tho. I like being able to change things to what I like
then yeah very hard isnt my cup of tea either, hard is about right where you CAN parry things, but you better not mess up either
like currently galavanting around the mountains using 3 health foods i have JUST enough to parry a golem with upgraded silver shield
I played more with parrying and staggering, but yeah some enemies had to be rolled
Stagger damage is actually such a fun mechanic when you get used to it
This is what I like
I think that math/system is the worst part of the game really
Fair. I just like that it gives weapons different identities
I like that but I don't like the "health = strength" rule, even if it is somewhat realistic
And with dealing less damage and more enemies being starred I found the thresholds of what I could or could not stagger was fair
i like hard because non-star are just strong enough i can still stagger with a battleaxe swing, star i need to parry or hit multiple times, and 2 star is like a little miniboss battle, so there's variety and not just dodge roll everything stab roll stab roll
that CAN be fun, but its a different game.
I think it sucks, you dont get anything for dodging
wellp, into the mist again, lets see if a new run starts tomorrow XD
u get adrenaline at least
Sneak will be your best friend lol
as i mine into a rock face because it started storming and my rested buff is running out because this mistlands is enormous and i hve to turn back
im worried this moder is too far north or idk what
You get to stay alive
its hard to describe. so my last marker i THOUGHT pointed to this giant mountain. no moder, but the 3rd frost cave had another marker pointing straight down the side of the mountain through mist. so i figure ill go through the mist to the coastline, put a directional marker, sail to it and follow it ot the next continent. but here it's just miles and miles of rocky mist shores and swimming and jump spamming, classic mistlands experience
Oof that sounds super tough. I would get out of the mists as soon as possible. But irrritatingly enough I've seen a lot of mountains that border Mistlands
same, ive gon ethrough them plenty. but its too far im already not certain i can get back to the mountain.
and it turned stormy night mode
so i dug a little hovel and lit a fire and ima wait til morning lol. and i guess just sail and look for another mountain close-ish in the direction-ish of the marker
this is the real vibe
it baited me in hard with the sound of the ocean, i was like oh yes i found the coastline! not. classic mistlands endless jagged rocks and water
and its funny i didnt bring enough wood for a bed, i swung on a sappling "too hard" ohhhh.......shhhh...right."
oh well thats all i get today. tomorrow's nap time maybe. hashtag dadgaming
Alright maybe I should turn up the combat difficulty from Very Easy
Maybe turn on raids
yup done
Why not just pump it up to VH combat
and FREQUENT raids 😅
Because I would die
Fair enough
welp, my karve just got destroyed
Can it be salvaged?
man the mistlands were predicted so early on
day2 in the meadows is essentially mistlands foreshadowing
I cast thee... FOG IN DAY 2
Cool, another queen bee, I hear you can get unlucky with those
damn, I woke up longing to play 1.0 ... been waiting for so loooooong ...
hey guys ! anybody on who just started a server and want another guy in ? im patient and always avalable
There might be someone in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510 who'd like that.
Morgen, Gjall. 👋
holy shit Ashlands is no joke. I managed to land but it was an uphill battle
is it just my setting or you can't see shit in this biome too ?
Visibility is actually not that bad, since it's mostly flat...
But the haze/shimmer might be impairing visibility.
It's smokey there. But if there is a storm it can get quite dark.
Are you there when its storming or at night/dusk perhaps?
It's daytime, I'm sure of this one
Yeah, don't go there in a storm or at night.
It's always a bit gloomy, admittedly.
And congratulations, you've managed the biggest hurdle in Ashlands!
The rest is a piece of cake. 😄
XD
Nah, not really. 😉
thanks guys, I'll look into my settings, maybe I can optimize a bit
But yeah, landing there and establishing a foothold is really the most difficult part.
Explore, and be careful.
Bring lots of stone to build an earthen wall.
Or just a wall in general, as it's good to be not visible when at your foothold from the outside.
And you will soon find out that earthen walls are no longer indestructible...
I'll build a small stone square, they keep attacking my portal
Yep. You need to hide it.
High enough wall on the outside does the trick.
And place the new nice and cheap Ashwood stakes around it.
does ashwood and grausten buildings takes damages from the environnement in Ashlands ?
With the exception of ashwood floors the ashwood should be ok
Yep. But it's always good to have a shield generator close by.
Regular wood WILL perish.
I took one with me
But I was thinking about building a small shack for my portal, would be good if it can survive even if I'm not feeding the shield
magic is still completely broken, the fact you use different ressources for running and attacking really boost your survivability
raid one of the enemy base and use it as your own, You no longer needed a shield when you put the portal at the inside of the tower and it's walls are indestructable. Just make a hole in the wall where you're the only one that can get inside since the enemies are huge in ashlands. It is also can be made as a farming area
I agree, but this is my first time in the biome, I want a secure foothold first before I go exploring
Hello, I'm a massive Valheim fan, currently 900+ hours and multiple solo playthroughs on the Vanilla setting, been a while since I played last I think it was around the time Ashlands came out, I'm thinking about doing another playthrough but this time I'd like to play on a multiplayer server, or "dedicated server", Im a big fan of building in the game and I dont want any super advanced mods, prefer vanilla but openminded to try stuff. Anyone hosting or know of a server like this? or where I might find one? 🙂 Thanks!
I would suggest on building at the shore or use the rock formations on the sea just be sure that it's close to the land, vultures don't usually attack bases anyway
that's the plan ^^
also make sure to not build near the ash serpent (forgot the name) even at land it could still kill you.
Good luck finding someone who says they'll play vanilla and actually does
(phrase you can hear in valheim or at a munch)
Only mod I used in the past was no rain damage and infinite torches 😄 thats about how advanced as far as modding goes I want the server to be 😂
Playing on vanilla is always the best though, I feel like mods are kinda like cheating but then again that's just me.
I always prefered vanilla aswell 100%
Yeah I think anything other than "make the sign blue" is cheating
only mod I really need is no rain dmg because im a big fan of building and HATE the discoloring of the wood when rain damaged xD
the only mod I was interested was the dragons but decided that the asksvin is already enough, still wish we could tame and mount seekers.
Dragonrider is amazing but needs its own server IMO
so u guys thats a bit more current with the game, whats new since ashlands?
or nothing more added after that?
but if you put roof there's no longer discoloration, unless you build like port or a garden then yeah the way it looks losing it's color is kinda sad
ye but I like doing fences and stuff with wood so makes no sense having roofs over stuff like that 😄
Angled beams also deflect water damage. I think if the wood is touching stone, also
I am at pause since I've been waiting for deep north, I already have 1,490hrs in the game with 4 playthroughs all done with ashlands and I don't want to get burnout in the game since I'm sure deep north's not gonna happen anytime soon.
ah I see yeah makes sense, I only did 1 ashlands playthrough and it was kinda rushed so would like to do another one before deep north comes out
when deepnorth arrive I'm gonna make a new fresh save to also experience the updates that I missed after I took a break. I haven't killed an undead bear yet
1.0 is coming out this year right? also will there be updates after with actual content or is it planned to just be bugfixes
1.0 will have the complete new biome Deep North. There will also be additional content available for current biomes. There will be the usual bug fixes and more stuff.
And it will be done, when it's done. No current estimate as of yet.
Do you guys think the reasources are enough to have a forever world in valheim?
It would be a long time before you exhausted every resource
first day in the ashlands : no death, found a morgen cave, found some accessible flametal next to the shore. Now to find and conquer a fortress
I really like gear progression in Ashlands, it's way better than in Mistlands
in ML you pretty much need to finish the biome to start playing with the new toys
I kept missing the morgen caves when I first went there
Have to appreciate the fortresses with the giant "We're here" beacon
Yeah that gave me such lotr Minas Morgul vibes
yeah I put my first base directly in front of one and didn't notice it at all, thought it was just some big rock
That would've been much funnier in a deadly way if the Morgen could actually come out of it
that would have annoyed me so much, imagine the first Morgen you see just destroys your portal and everything
That'd be hell. Then again Ashlands is just that
Here's my first one
#memes-and-clips message
I’d look through #1024264966712340510 or even make your own post
thanks 🙂 ❤️
Couple new armor sets and weapons (all very cool), ||BEARS||, new trader (sells very cool stuff)
any fun armor sets? 🙂
Bear armor with blueberries. And a later, ||undead ||bear armor
oh didnt know about that, cool 🙂
I knew we had bears finally but ye
The new ones are pretty cool, buff your damage and stamina regen
They're more early-mid-game additions, so probably not
Other than for niche use cases or if you're a daredevil. One plains armor set I will sometimes use in ashlands
very cool either way
the more armor sets the better, just lets people play more how they want
would love another armor set like the troll one to let people play proper sneaky style 😄
Maybe the troll one is enough
+15 sneak ain't so bad
And if you're sneaky enough the armour value shouldn't even matter
true
just wish they implemented more sneak into the game
I know dagger etc works with troll armor very well
Yes actually I think it should become faster with the skill level
It's just too slow to be useful enough
ye true
Are new players more scared of bears or trolls?
I got over my fear of trolls before the bear was added, so I can't really say
Bears are faster and more resistant to arrows so I would think bears
bears are annoying to learn the attack patterns of
but if you just make like 6 torches you're just leveling mace skills
I found them scary at first
They can still be a jump scare if I'm playing on a new character
i always loved bears
But they're actually too stupid and easy if you just hold a torch and a 1h weapon on either hand. I really think this should be nerfed or something because it honestly just renders them to big walking dummies...
Also I'm pretty sure IRL wolves are the ones who are scared of fire
Not bears
I'm going to assume Trolls, simply because they will check you out if they see you from really far away. Bears just don't want you to get close to them.
I mean it would even make more sense in-game wouldn't it? Bears shouldn't be so easy to scare away like that. But wolves can come at you in packs so maybe it's ok to be able to scare them off just a bit and it can still be a challenge(?)
Because they can come at you from different directions so it kinda makes sense
torches scare creatures in a radius, direction doesn't matter
Blobicycake is speaking about their in-game functionality. I wouldn't recommend deploying real world logic across the board in a video game.
Yes I'm talking about the in-game functionality
When your character holds a torch they have an invisible cone in front of them which the bear AI reacts to
Ah okay, sorry I wrote that before I saw your other messages. 😅
Np 🙂
I can't speak to either, I've no clue how the torch functions personally.
have you tried testing this in-game or is this only something you've heard in a video?
it's a sphere that's centered on the held torch so it reaches a little further in front of you
I've tested it and it seemed like they do attack me once I turn my back to them
I'm testing now and the bear is moving back when I'm turned away
maybe you were too far from it?
remember you can block to push against it without turning
Block to push against what
the bear
to change direction youre facing
Bears will occasionally attack even with a torch present, I think there's a bit of a sweet spot with their attack checks.
Right yeah
Yes
But it's still OP
bear attack triggers are 3-5m long
thats what ive found too like they’re try to swipe into torch range from outside torch range, theyve definitely come at me while looking toward them
idk i just fight em
i think its neat you can keep away wild animals with fire
Me too. They're not that hard
Yes but not bears
I've never minded it myself. Once you get comfortable fighting them, it all becomes irrelevant, so it's good that there's an option like that for players to deter them a bit during a learning period.
Wolves yes. Not bears. It's how it is IRL and would make more sense in-game as well imo
getting hunted would be too easy, you could just sit by a campfire. at least bears have attacks long enough to try hitting you
agree, my first time fighting them with zero knowledge i killed it fine, i learned about the bite attack lol and had to walk around healing back up but i learned
These bears are in Valheim not Midgard, maybe they have good reason to fear fire in Valheim.
but doggos like fires! thats how we became friends
With bears maybe just when you actually set them on fire they could maybe start getting scared at some point. At most
Hmm it's more about us feeding them I think
i think bears should be passive-ish UNTIL you set them on fire then they fight back
also then people cant lame them
not passive but stalking like when you aim a torch at them
well they have hearing and vision issues
but i mean if you have a torch they should be aggro’d and chasing/circling but if you smack em they should switch to full aggro, not just let you slowly burn them to death with a dull stick
Yes
or at least full on run away like a deer like fast so youd have to sprint to keep up
They do that sometimes
Just suddenly they start running away lol
I couldn't understand what triggers it. I think it happens with other mobs though like abominations and others too
They just suddenly give up and run away
if they're unable to attack for too long they'll run, this can be done easily if you're chasing them with a torch
Maybe just the AI pathfinding bugging
Ah ok
lots of mobs do this immediately too, the second i ambush them they just bolt and i dont see them again for days
Lolll
Gimme 👍 #suggestions message
I just wish AI will be used in games, for example when a skeleton sees you oblitirate 30 other skeletons, it'll reconsider attacking
Yeah
meow
Although it's a skeleton so maybe it makes sense if it's stupid and fearless
hehe, ghost of tsushima does this really great, when you do a “perfect parry” you can unlock a talent that nearby enemies go ohhhh HELLLL no and scatter
but ya not in valheim because they’re mindless killing machines
yeah I always thought of if I hang a troll head right there they might get scared
or pissed
actually trolls would be like “hah, jeff died, ooo dibs on his cave”
oop actually im wrong i think trolls were at war with previous inhabitants meaning they had a sense of group
oh
if i'm staring at a piggy is it not going to grow while i'm looking at it
When it's ready.
And since we haven't seen a message about that in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202150165449035816 my guess is that it isn't ready yet.
so like, its in super early stage?
The RNG with birch seeds is so weird sometimes
No. It's nearing 1.0 but it just isn't ready yet.
Can chop a whole grove and get so many seeds or non at all
a man who thinks all the time
They are taking the time necessary to ensure everything goes according to their plans. Not cutting corners to rush for some arbitrary deadline.
yeah but its taking forever
It’s taking a while, yee. But it’s probably better this way so we have something of high quality.
It'll be here before you know it, you just have to show some patience.
@lyric flare what if I choose Trollstav 😈
it turned daytime but the wraith won't go away 😣
How long for items to despawn when out of player structure radius?
only random spawned wraiths despawn, not wraiths from structures
Just faced my first wraith on this playthrough.. It killed me because it caught me offguard lol
Wasn't hard dealing with it after that though. It's all about the parry 🛡️
if i'm ready to stab it with a polearm it's not too bad
i was at suboptimal hp though that's what made it awful
just cheesed my way through a starred bear fight with bronze buckler parries
how did you cheese it
Well, I didn't even know trolls were in the game when one came after us and I shot an arrow at its head and just pissed it off, we ran like hell... we didn't get away
Poison arrows work good against wraiths
I love it when geysers spawn surrounded by water so the surtlings immediately die on spawn lol
Yep, we found two of those next to each other and setup a core farm
Haha nice 👍 have to have one Viking on repair duty. Mage weapons are fun but messy
hi veck 😞
i have a +3 bronze buckler and 3 hp foods and 2 star draugr archers still break my guard 🤦♀️
apparently wolves don't fear fire. one walked right into my house
that doesnt sound right, its possible you blocked too soon/late
you need 80-ish hp to parry a 2 star draugr with lvl 3 buckler, i think you just blew the parry or you already had your stagger bar partially filled
i was blocking arrows
multiple arrows?
i don't remember 😞
math says you can do it just fine, but if you took damage or parried something else before, your stagger meter may have been partially filled
have to mind your stagger bar during combat, it had to have been that if you parried correctly
i wasn't parrying i was blocking an arrow
ohhhhhh BLOCKING
yeah you need 160 health to BLOCK a 2 star
my bad i assumed you were parrying cuz bucklers are bad at blocking
now if you had an iron tower shield, more like 80. just good for thought. but i applaud your desire to improve your parrying
W tower shields
I just tried to parry a 2 star charred warrior with a carapace buckler
in retrospect, not a brillant idea
It was a great idea
Hi errbody, just started this game recently
Just eat 2-3 hp foods and use carapace buckler and it's fine
Assuming you're on normal difficulty
Wellcome new vikin' fren
My health was low, I was fighting a valkyrie just before, it one-shotted me
Good news is (if you time it right and actually parry) you don't need very much health to parry them. Just need to have a lot of max hp (aka, health food in your stomach)
overconfidence, slow and insidious killer, all that
plus I was on a corpse run, so plains food in ashlands
Valheim really has a way of punishing you
Unless you anticipate and prepare for everything and have great patience
did you see me mention that i parry cheesed a starred bear
Yes it does haha, this boat has the stopping power of a semi truck but the durability of a bicycle
Am I doing myself a major disservice in holding off on Mistlands until Deep North comes out?
I mean.....there's not any reason to wait. You can finish Mistlands and Ashlands and the drops from Fader will update automatically I've heard
I was mainly thinking due to world generation not being consistent when things update, like how if you had a save prior to the Ashlands releasing its content there wouldn't be Ashlands content in that world. unless i've read what people are saying wrong. in which case, you're right
I personally wasn't there for any biome updates so i'm not sure if that's how it works but that's the word i've heard from the bird
Yeah explored areas generally DO NOT get updated with new stuff. I think Ashlands update was a little weird and actually did update some explored Ashlands (and Deep North, because it prepared that biome somewhat too)
But generally you won't miss out on much content as long as you hold off on going to Deep North
hehe yes and i wasnt sure what u meant by "cheesed" that sounds very not cheese
Already explored areas stay as they are, unexplored areas will get any new content.
There might be stuff added to previous biomes, though probably not a tonnnnnn. In that case you could have already missed some of it tho if you've explored most the meadows/bf/mountains/plains in the world
just parried every attack and when it worked i hit it back
i parried some slams and one bite
that is not cheese my fellow warrior that is ferocity
ah right thank u both 🙂
anyone know.... does building piece direction reset/change when you exit the game? my only hope of leaving the mist is not pointing exactly how i remember
every abom attack can be parried with a bronze buckler 3
i can confirm you always face forward
gotta try this #u#
but once you're close to it, it only use its "core pound" attack
the heavy branch attack can be avoided by getting close to the abomination
the wiki calls it ground slam
i mean like i have a building piece with my hammer angled a certain way because no map, and i need to follow it out of cloudy rock walls, but idk if its still pointing how i left it before logging out
i'm aware
omg i made it out of the mist lol. i saw tentacles. never thought id be so happy to see snow
@inner sinew maybe server owner can put "player-based events" toggle on?
Not sure how well that works if toggled in the middle of the server. Only ever done it at start
the tea bag 🫣
root armor is mostly superior to bear patterns, right?
obviously don't get set on fire
Yea, but like almost everything its preference too
Bear armor is faster, higher stamina regen, and extra damage
Root is tanky af against pierce, slightly more armor, saves you poison resist mead, and buffs bows
Nah
Good, means things are balanced <3
i think i used trollthink to show i wasn't actually thinking
One playthrough i did the run was such a mess with cheaters i decided to see how far i could rush in just troll armor and root harnesk and a finewood bow and let me tell you the mistlands isnt that bad at all
what's the point of troll armor if you're not wearing the whole thing...?
style?
Its blue
i'll admit blue is pretty cool
better than leather and it doesnt need bronze
i mean once you have root you don't need troll either
and bear armor is pretty good....
The troll armor set bonus is pretty trash. Only reason for troll armor is just that it gives good armor and doesn't slow you down
root is overpowered
its crazy that if they removed the -75% id still say it was balanced with the +bows
But once u have the harnesk that means you have needle arrows which means ur a god until ashlands
I wish they made the pierce resist a set bonus. Feel it would be fairly balanced then
Still vv good in swamp, but a lil' less in plains/mistlands/ashlands
I think I was also rocking serpent shield too
if it doesnt parry i aint using it
i haven't unlocked needle arrows yet
thinkingslow
Frost or obsidian arrows are my preferred but needle is alot cheaper
Whats up skinny
Howdy doodily
Thought about building a cube the other day ngl
Gotta build the longhouse
to put it in perspective... what's the movement penalty of the iron chestpiece?
i think all heavy is -5% right?
chest or legs
-2 isn't that bad...
The main difference you'll probably find is its harder to sidestep draugr attacks but still possible
The root still has plenty of speed to bait out attacks
the good thing about root though is those archers won't be as effective 🫠
arite wellp rip. i was given sweet release from this cursed seed. just slogging through endless mists for a mountain peak that would never come until i was forced to sail through a tight space where starred seekers jumped onto my boat. couldn't fight couldn't run.
Arrows can be parried
woah
Almost all projectiles can be
hold my coffee
Practice on the blue dudes that throw stones
i started practicing with twig before you said that
Definitely safer option
Rip
omg the mountain peak i was goign to wasnt even the right mountain peak still. jesus christ. worst moder spawn ive seen i think ever
twig is also a great place to practice parrying i'm finding
He does have a varied moveset
parrying is more about the enemy imo
yeah but like if i can parry twig maybe i can parry anyone
Is twig attack not stone golem attacks?
#u#
I find he's closer to a later game enemy with how he can delay his attacks
he's my friend now
well im going on a week vacation next week anyway, so then when i get back i can start a new run in 1.0? 🙃 🤪 😭 🤮 🤔
omg the yagluth spawn was horrible too, ida never found it. its actually so good i died when i did
I'm going for a one month business trip in May
I don't think (and honestly, don't hope) it'll come out while I'm gone
man ive been playing so recklessly lately
i gotta go back to being super safe and not losing entire runs to silly nonsense
The ancestors demand glory
i cant believe my arrogance allowed me to think i could solo 3 dverger mages lol
Overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer
how can i tell if i am ready for the bonemass
iron sledge t1 + iron helmet t3 + rest troll armor t3 should do the trick? And throw anti poison drinks along the way
yeah theyre strong, I ate 💩 earlier trying to get an extractor and agro'd them, ran back and the ice mage one shot me
you'll be fine with that yeah
iron parry shield , iron mace, and some potions will do the work
the attack pattern of bonemass is too easy if you practice bit
I don't think i found the recipe for the mace yet, so i invested in the sledge already, can i not parry with it?
shits expensive
oh sorry yeah i'd make a mace, dont try to parry bonemass imo
roll on through that fight
i meant the blunt one handed weapon and iron buckler
I haven't used sledge much but I don't think it would be great for the fight. Mace would be a lot more reliable
you cant not know the iron mace recipe 🤔
i mean u can but it wont stagger him for extra dmg and dont u dare beeing hit cuz ouchydaisy
You should have the recipe for mace, it's basically just iron
Sledge is the one requriing a special trophy to make
ill figure out as long as it doesn't stagger should be fine but i never fought it, my two week valheim phase has never reached that far
thats how I beat him, raise ground and sledge him, portal on the skull to I can repair
thats hilarious
i just parried everything 😂
also my gf will be watching the stream i really don't wanna mess it up
is ymir flesh from npc vendor?
bonemass is easier than eikthyr you just want a poison pot
From dark forest shop vendor
thats the most important part
(Yeah trying not to recommend cheesing him on the first go). Do you need raised ground tho? Can't you just sit on skull?
I respect people who can spell the names from the game on the fly
i dont agree with this
no but I put the portal there
yeah eikthyr is pretty easy if you pole dance
he attacks like once a minute
u can just walk arround bonemass altar too. worst he can do is throw
eikthyr i start when i shouldnt very often and get into must dodge or die situations lol
pretty handy if u miss a parry and didnt get health pots cuz of arrogance and get hit anyway 🤡
if you prep well for bonemass its virtually impossible to die
Same for Eikthyr
I do usually put eikthyr off for a bit to get boar raids instead of greydwarf raids
skeleton suprise..
they murdered my wolf herd
thatd be smart
i usually start eikthyr the second i see it and uh sometimes it goes poorly lol
i did him without even knowing raids exist then realized i need to kite mr shaman and his crew arround my pond to survive....legendary fight. would recommend 🤣
i died at least 15 times to the mosquitos
I know they coded tamed animals to increase the chance, and type, of raids
just mereley existing within 2 miles from plains and one stray fuck decides to aggro
idk bro i got raided 2 times in row
same, back to back bat raids, I said fine forget it, and no raids since
I was thinking of skipping the dude because of that and relying on ol reliable troll labour
Fair, personally though Eikthyr is the power I use 90% of the time so I wouldn't wanna go without it
one of you silly billys summoned the forrest on me
oopsies
btw anyone have an idea why carrots keep dying on me?
floor on them?
seems fine at first but then i go away and come back and they disappear
i keep mine in my castle walls. greylings or boars might be attacking them
just a field processed with the tool
That is a thing in the game?
might be this then?_
try placing workbenches around your base
never heard of carrots disappearing
yep
Too close to walls, roof over them, nearby enemies attacking them if not enclosed, nearby shamen attacking it by spitting poison through walls
are you in meadows?
eyeball stonks
oh yeah i also built a moat around my castle 🫠
no need to worry about shamans poisoning the poor funks through the wall
now put a storm serpent in the moat
wat
Who needs a castle when you have a 50x25 longhouse
i think it shouldnt despawn at least i saw some capture serpents as pets (those found in storms)
soooo...if u put it in a moat....🤣
can't grow yggdrasil or ashwood, cringe
Growing a world tree would sure be... interesting
Should they bring crossbows to valheim?
Gonna head into the Mountains. Should I pack the fire arrows, or the bronze arrows?
I make a stack of iron arrows for my first time in mountains, then you can upgrade to obsidian
we alr got crossbows arent we
Bro doesnt know
I don't make metal arrows for anything else
you need to progress into the sixth biome
Google> valheim> how to obtain crossbow
*fast
immediately
isnt it an arbalest
whatever
it does same thing
true
Google "How to enable devcommands"
Google "Valheim crossbow" for the item ID
spawn arbalest 1 p
(and use critical thinking instead of an ai generated answer)
def the fastest way 10|10 lmao
do kinda wish we could farm the yggdrasil shoots and hares specifically, mistlands food is a huge chore
*and then realizing that the ai gaslit u
ai can be a djinn 😭
Imagine
dont trust ai
imagination is much easier without ai
unless its math....its mostly good at math
Imagine imagining your imagination
For hares you can put up some sharp stakes around the place. They'll passively kill hares
Luckily you don't need yggdrasil for the food so once you get your gear you're set
i can imagine my imagination rotating 360 degrees
wat
Well, ok, i mentioned yggdrasil because I want to build out of it
forgot to specify RIP
guess u cant :/
can you rotate an apple over all 3 axes in your head
There's 1? Buildable that needs ygg wood
no but i can stall automatic car
closer to 15 I'd say
Not including weapons/tools/workstations only one i can think of is the light thingy
you get access to more as you progress through mistlands
big building things are the door, stairs, and stakewalls
For me I use a lot on Ballistas too
father odin help me... i'm planning on turning a little stream into a canal...
Done that. Deeply frustrating, but rewarding once I was done.
One could imagine sisiphus proud
...I really need to move my base but man am I attached to this spot.
It's a totally crappy useless super steep hill in the meadows, but it's built on top of an abandoned structure that somehow generated here
has anyone seen friendly greylings before? one is just wandering around out village and another is in a guard bunker as a soldier
Built a zoo in the planes and swamp. It ended like the jurassic park movies did
I went sailing and found a small island that was mostly meadows and a slice of dark forest, so naturally I destroyed everything and built on it to make it square and I'm in the process of turning it into my base
Missed a chance to make it into a giant skull island
Making farm this way i would get, but why not use existing terrain if you are making base, it would be prettier 😄
I can always change the shape, but the map doesn't update anyway
because I wanted it to be higher than water
btw do greydwarfs start spawning in the meadows at night after you kill bosses?
i do wish the 8m deformation limit wasn't a thing
i would love to make huge terraces on a mountainside, but you can barely get a meter of flat space with a massive stone investment
There is a small sub-island next to the big island, so I'm considering elevating it as well and building a house on it, then connecting them with a bridge and having access to a boat that way, too
every boss causes an "upgrade" to the meadows, for that matter
we have noticed skeletons after killing bonemass
i am in post-yagluth and still only getting greydwarves at night in meadows
but we are next to a swamp
those can show up pre eike if certain conditions are met
does it upgrade all the biomes?
dont think so
i rly hate this ngl
i wouldnt care if bat raids didnt exist
makes for alot of cleanup around the base every night
...huh, i just realized
i haven't been base raided in like 25 ingame hours?
but i just checked the settings and raids are at normal rate on this world
the trench wolves will solve that problem
Don't think Moder does?
Though i never really pay attention to spawns like that
we need bat night spawns
So we can smack them with wooden mace/atgeir/battleaxe for huge knockback.
bat raids are the only reason i enclosed my boar pen
though by the time i was getting bat raids, boar meat was basically irrelevant...
the timer pauses when nobody is around
food to repopulate the trench wolves
they tend to die en masse if something actually scary drops down
tbh i just dig trenches and ignore every raid i ever get
"The gods are merciful" is so ironic lol
or live on an island
F U gods enables godmode
given we are talking about the old gods... they sure are
less "turn the other cheeck", more "smite the rando for funsies"
I think "the gods are merciful" is an acknowledgement of you not being sent straight to Helheim for failing your trial in Valheim
the mercy is you getting another chance by way of respawning
I guess
Ventured into a small patch of Mountains near my main base. Found no silver. No onions. No obsidian. No caves. Many wolves found me, though. None bothered to drop a trophy.
certified classic
silver and obsidian has a minimum spawn height so you need the big mountains
main island rarely spawns a large enough mountain, ye
Irritating.
outside of a single key point of interest in the Plains later on, I think the mountains are probably the meanest biome in the game in terms of RNG wasting your time
I agree if you're getting stuff from frost caves but for basic progression you can get through without much luck
not like swamps where you need to find turnips
...actually swamps are worse. way worse
I found Turnips early.
it's been so long since i went through that struggle i forgot how luck based iron acquisition and turnips are
And carrotys, too. I was lucky with seeds. Up to now.
multiple times turnips have been the last thing I get in preparation for bonemass
i once searched 3 swamps for a single plant...
Unfortounate.
this playthrough i'm in right now is probably the worst time i've ever had just getting iron
sailed out to the mistlands to the east and west without finding a single swamp with a dungeon in it
and then you find one and its one crypt without a chest
the freestanding iron veins in the swamp being fully hidden below ground is a diabolical move too
like bruh i am done obtaining iron by the time i have the wishbone, useless
the thing that prevents me from blindly digging around for the veins is that you're likely to be unable to reach 60% of every surface vein since it'll be too deep below sea level for you to stand and dig on
got my fingers crossed hoping that the swamp gets a good glow-up with 1.0
There were also those cases where some people missed turnips and went through lower tier foods until Ashlands.
Oh I always go get turnips before Elder
extra hard mode
... i have the galdr table before killing the elder
you cant parry starred enemies with that low stamina and if you eat triple stamina you get oneshot
but that's because i have just skipped the elder entirely :U
why?
He was stupidly far away when I found a vegvisr so I just never bothered
My second yag arena is pretty close to him though, I could go hack him into pieces with black metal
How did you get Iron?
funny chair clip to get past the gates
the elder isn't even hard, i just couldn't be bothered to sail out to the Mistlands in a Karve
i have never seen an elder arena as far away as this one is, it's nuts
i'd have toughed it out but this is like my 9th playthrough of the game, i just wanted to see the Mistlands and Ashlands stuff that's all new since I last played years and years ago
I thought the Elder was hard as heck. I only beat him because he got stuck on something, and I shot fire arrows at him until he gave up.
were you using ranged weapons the whole time? his melee attack is very slow
I was using a poor weapon choice, and hadn't gotten the hang of blocking.
This is probably the most punishing game I've played so far. At least solo
And no I never played any soulslike games lol
Yeah once you get good with parrying a lot of it becomes easy actually. As long as you don't accidentally wander into the next biome prematurely. Like I just did.
parrying is too op
Is there a mistland/ash weapon for fist?
Nope.
Vilebone maulclaws fare well there tho.
Would of been nice to have a blood version -_-
Anyone rocking out to some Amon Amarth while playing this game?
anyone want to play together add me on disc
how far outside the meta are raw onions?
Jormsviking album goes hard while fighting in Ashlands.
I never eat them raw since onion soup exists 😄
i haven't unlocked a single cauldron upgrade 💔
I make onion soup only for mountain feast.
is there any sword or weapon that works like looting enchant in minecraft
No, but you can increase the drops with world modifiers 🙂
No
?
never found any turnips 💔
Sadge
I hope the new biome is gonna have a new fist weapon , i aint got 84 on that for nothing!
deep north needs every weapon type, we've had the same fishing rod since bf
At least this game actually kept up with bows!
Bows are fun but my ancestors demand i use the hate stick
It's strange that the ship they give you after the Mistlands, being twice or more the size of the previous ship, has the same space. Do you know if they've suggested increasing the space?
running into a weird problem here. A can join B through FL join game, but if A is hosting B gets "incompatible version" after password. Both made sure we're on public thing and both restarted client.
The drakkar has 14 more slots than longship tho... 😅
Anyone using mods? And by "public thing" do you mean public test branch? If so then i believe it would be better to go to live branch.
Do we have any idea when Deep North is dropping?
We do not sadly 🙂
we're all on the #1 bullet point
Ah.
whats the best way to gather feathers?
If you are before plains in progresion then i would say exploring black forest chests and dungeons, or you can hunt birds with bow or spear 🙂
im still in the swamp, but I can handle plains. do birds spawn more often there?
no, there's a new source available
Plains because needle arrows don't eneed feathers
oh
that doesn't help for gathering them
I'm just guessing what he meant by plains
1- they do need them
2- not what we mean 😄
sadly
Damn things are so strong they kinda invalidate most other weapons
so what does plains have to do with feathers?
That it's where you unlock feather farms
Heh, "feather farm".
@lone rampart Valheim banking by J. P. Morgen 😛
ohhhhhh I just looked it up
lmao thanks
hopefully this farm works because the boar farm I check on youtube, with different variations, doesnt seem to work
how did.... real people... set the foundations needed for bridges in large bodies of water...?
The cart method
Make water tight barier at the place you want to lay foundation at, then pump water out
#n#
valheim water table is undefeatable
real people built channels to redirect water flow to bare the river beds to build the bridge and then would let the water back on main course afterwards
Lol
huh what?
i have 2 medium healing meads brewing #u#
i am happier
getting concrete right underwater fucking sucks
easier to do it without the water, much easier
we're still talking about bridges
this is actually ok
That is how some foundations for bridges were being built in the past 😄 (in fact the same principle is used even today)
kind of want to brain out practicing on twig until the mead's done #u#
basically any large piece of concrete is a pain in the ass to make and needs very deliberate hardening of the concrete
you know what hardens concrete? yeah, fucking water
hmm
i'm sure people have probably been trying to figure out how to have concrete harden while underwater for quite a while #u#
it is once again a question of scale 🗿
cuz it also gets more annoying the larger the piece is
to the point where its basically a dedicated engineering branch in large scale construction
i never thought i'd go back to nerding out about engineering #u#
if i seem a little wound tight i'm sorry
brb
man im on the hunt for schrodingers elder rn
this things got me runnin so many directions
no vegs?
like 8 of them they all keep running me around
i wonder if im like between two spawns or something
ok i gave up and flew around to find it
it was between like 4 mountain ranges next to a plains... like come on lol
i thought i was close so i found one that pointed me there
but it wanted me to run through the swamp
I mean... shouldnt be that much of a problem if you are looking for elder already 😄
no i put myself back at that one and decided to just run through
i spent like 30 minutes going around it to finally end up at a mountain and a plains and was like..... yeah naw lol
Has anyone had an issue with abominations dying when they spawn?
Nope
Shouldn't the sword's stab attack deal pierce damage instead of slash?
That has been a suggested change for quite some time now i believe 😄
Would make sense, but might make the swords just a bit too OP with different dmg types being good against different things
Oh if we start down this path it's a long dark road of what things "should" do other things 😭
At the same time they would suffer against bosses due to most of their pierce resistance.
I think it would be a bad idea becasue of how extreme all of the damage modifiers are. Against so many enemies only one of your two attacks would be viable.
need to nerf resistances across the board
we need enemies using new 25% modifiers
I'm sailing around the swamp, looking for a good place to start building a stone tower, and there is a skeleton following me. He's just walking along the ocean floor. I can see him, and he can't reach me, but whenever I make landfall, he'll be there.
kind of creepy AF really
reminds me of “it follows” anyone cool enough to know that movie?
Its like that movie with the spoon
Damn. I was trying to figure out what the little green thing was, and I got dead suddenly.
this movie is fucking amazing
the composer is one of my favorites of all time
I remember that one
For player resistances I agree. It’s agregious how you can become resistant to most of the elements by just downing some potions, take half off enemies damage with a chest piece, or even override stuff like VERY WEAK with a quick potion
For enemies it’s fine imo. The resistances force you to diversify a bit in weaponry, though it’s maybe a bit skewed the amount of resistances and weaknesses of each type that enemies have
yeah, I don't like being forced to diversify a bit
Fair, seems like the devs do though so I imagine it won’t change much
Hello all, i am new here and im N/A looking for a Valheim server that is acceoting new players
one of us one of us
#1024264966712340510 is the place
You post both "I am person looking for game" and "I am game looking for persons"
trying to learn more. ive been playing it vanilla and i like it but a friend suggested joining a server.
oh ok thank you
The first time I played the game Feb 2021 - I said "OK I get the appeal but it feels like something is missing". The thing I was missing was others to play it with. It's still fun solo but it's really fun with others.
not exactly sure how to make a post in that channel. Did i do it right? lol
yep!
whats the % an axe head is in a house structure again?
is it 10%? ive gone through i think 30 houses rn lol
55%.
Also they are found in certain types of wooden structures.
On a newly generated map.
On maps prior to that update the chance is significantly less.
definitely a new map
lol
damn im super unlucky i guess. i got the mysterious axe head, was stoked to have a map with the 🪓
How do you guys handle the berries? there's so much recipes that needed it but there's only a small amount in per group of them to the point that you have to spend 5 hours getting stocks back up
Typically when I’m out exploring, I’ll mark large patches on my map. Once supplies run low, I’ll do a little route going from each dot as needed.
Usually doesn’t take more than 15-20 minutes to get a substantial amount
AUUUGH I died IN MY BOAT in the swamp because immediately while I was rolling up a wraith thing killed me, now I have to make a new boat and go ALL THE WAY BACK
I guess I just have to find those spots in my world first huh
yeah, it isnt too difficult though
Groups of 5+ is good enough to mark on the map?
Yeah that’s the first step haha sometimes those abandoned villages will have a lot of raspberries. Also be sure to mark mushrooms, those can be nice to have as well.
i would say so yes
though i believe some harvestables are more likely to spawn in smaller patches
im not sure though so take it with a grain of salt
like generally i wont find very big mushroom patches, but ive seen large ones before
Lesson learned, keep an extra set of materials for a boat ON HAND at ALL TIMES at spawnpoint
why not make a portal?
Yeah I hate that villages all seem to have raspberries planted, but I can't plant them
Because I physically couldn't land fast enough to make one, I got killed by a wraith in my boat
I have 2 portals when I explore, 1 for where I docked my boat, 2nd for whatever im doing when I get full
Ohhh, that sucks
Saw the text "swamp" and then I was donezo
my first time in swamp, the place is hella annoying
had to dock my boat in a different biome next to it
one time I wasnt paying attention and rammed my ship in the biome lmao
The ancient art of farming berries, lost to time 🫡
Acutally I can go with that suspension of disbelief, that works
Favorite thing so far about current play through was dying to a wraith on our first karve. Buddy was able to take the rudder escape and pick me up back on the spawn continent. I grabbed my inventory in time for an underwater archer to destroy the karve. We had to scamper through the swamp and build a raft and white knuckle it back to spawn island and our base.
it be like that
lowkey i personally play with the world modifier that lets me keep my armor and weapons on death. just so i dont end up quitting after dying lol
Yea, I mean I'm gonna dock in the black forest and make a quick bed point, just so I don't have to do the whole thing again
That's the plan for my second playthrough, gonna go more building focused on that one, not that I'm rushing my first one
im not sure if you were aware, im fairly certain you can change world modifiers when the world is already made
I know you can but I'm not about to back out of this, even if it is annoying
ohhh, i thought you werent aware, my bad. in that case then follow your best judgement
man. was just messing around on one of my endgame worlds. i forgot how SUPREMELY TERRIBLE battering ram design is. let me pin myself against a pointy wall and unleash a flood of enemies against me while I'm tethered to a large monstrosity blocking me from going anywhere assuming i manage to unstrap myself from it with a fiddly click or a dodge roll. i'm surprised the raven doesn't come down like "ScraaAAAW??? i think you have that BACKWARDS!"
Aw man, halfway through my recovery trip I just realized I totally could've brought a portal in case I die again
Welp
LIKE THAT
Not me googling how to noclip around in the game so I can just go grab my shit
does any1 know how i can use my old character in a new world
thats my golden rule before fighting. also healing mead saves lifes
(if u have any)
(i absolutely did not get smashed by a berserker twice before implementing that rule and i clearly did not take all and forgot im too heavy without my belt )
I always thought naked raft trips of shame were a rite of passage in this game hahah
On our friend server I ended up having to buy 3 rounds of drinks betting against my friends making it back safely. Man those were fun times.
On my way home from my first swamp run with 21 iron scraps, and my first impression is... I really, REALLY need to make some meads and better foods.
Yeah, don't sleep on making a cauldron. Better food means survival.
Yea, I mean I did alright with my carrot soup, but I have a skill issue so I really need something for health
And upgrades, gonna get more bronze for armor upgrades
Slept on that a TON
Tbf it is only my 3rd day playing
I tend to skip bronze armor and stay with troll. I don't like the movement debuff.
I haven't been able to kill enough of them to make more than a cape 😭
Either I can't find them when I want them or they sneak up when I'm completely out of stamina and end my fun
Does anyone have Majestic Carapace from the Queen I can borrow for 3 seconds to learn the pattern for the Artisan Press>
I can invite you to a server or join yours. I'll give it back immediately.
if you're rested and not wet you should be able to fight still if its 1v1
The groups of greydwarves that appear can be a real hassle.
Just 2v1'd wet while they were raiding my base, I guess I was better than I thought
Although I am going to upgrade my finewood bow, that thing is my god
yeah bows make trolls p much a non issue
im too adjusted to using them for my bidding that my default is dodge rolling lol
When you load up it'll by default be on your most recently played character. You can click the arrows to the side at the bottom of the screen to switch to different characters
Then you click play (or start or whatever the button is) and it lets you select a world to load in on
There's nothing special to it, just select your character select a world. If you want a new world, there's a button "create new" instead of choosing an existing one
@drowsy shadow #screenshots message
Might be kinda useful? Wet effect is the 2nd best fire resist you can get, and hopping in the ocean is the best. Not bad for yag
I'm finding myself much more drawn to melee combat, I should get more practice with the bow
i've grown to really like the fang and then carapace spear. hadnt been using pierce much before
i should try other weapons
with the level 3 carapace spear i only need to parry a lox once and then after a few hits they stun for more crits and its over
easy food
lol I can't parry for shit because I need a new mouse, the right button is a bit janky

Yeah I might need a new mouse to get much further
question will the early axes be removed from the loot table at full release or just be only craftable by those who played the early access or will nothing change?
hahaha a deer running from a skeleton
Unlikely. Why would they be removed?
I actually had no idea this game is still in EA, it seems pretty feature complete from my limited playtime
they removed the beta tester stuff
They did?
I'm also interested what beta stuff they removed?
odin hood and cape
They were not removed, but gifted as DLCs for people who participated in Valheim alpha/beta.
true so i guess my question is will the early axes become dlc
If they're already in game then they probably won't remove them after Early Access.
Iron Gate doesn't have history of removing items from the game, other than replacing placeholder drops from bosses.
Nothing has retroactively become DLC, those beta gifts were handed out quite intentionally via steam code.
hello guys
There are no DLCs that you can buy currently if you dont count soundtrack
Well, I finally managed to beat the Queen (again). This time on Easy mode. Took me about 20 minutes. Didn't even need Bonemass. I took two health potions and used up half of my 50 ooze bombs. All in all it was pretty solid. Skills were 30 in blocking and 51 in swords at the start of the fight.
I now think that on default difficulty the fight should be somewhat in between Easy and the current Normal difficulty. At least my confidence that I can beat the Queen has been somewhat restored.
The main difference was, that I had the feeling that I had everything under control, unlike my previous attempts where it'd turned quickly to "Oh, shit!"
To be fair, the "Oh shit!" moments are a significant part of Valheims charm in my honest opinion 🙂
They do. 😉
But when I fight bosses, I like to keep the "Oh, shit!" moments to a minimum. 😄
When I'm out and about? Bring'em on!
After the first time you fight the bosses the amount of these moments decreases quite a lot tho 😄 that is also part of the reason i am saving Fader fight for when DN comes
Well, I have fought successfully the Queen before on normal mode. That's why I was so pi**ed I couldn't do it again.
I must admit, I cheesed both Queen and Fader with magic
But the second fight, where I relied a lot on the previous Bonemass, went almost like my fight now on easy mode, but without Bonemass.
Using magic the way it is supposed to be used isn't cheesing.
Using a playstyle availible to you isnt cheesing imo, unless you are doing something with it for which it wanst intended
I've soloed everyone up to Yag, but no Queen yet.
magic is serious cheese on bosses. Queen can just be spammed with fireballs from a safe spot, and Fader was just tied down and worn out by staff of the wild
Exactly. I found magic to be much harder than just plain board and sword.
There is no "safe spot" in her arena.
It is OP and makes them much easier, no doubt about that. Still not cheesing tho in my book 🙂
It's not OP for me.
there is, at the entrance she can't really get you, and you can splash her with the fireball
Again, I find it to be much harder. And that spot isn't safe. You can be reached by seekers.
They get taken out by the fireballs too
And your shield WILL break down the exact moment you need it.
Oh, then that is cheesing, but all it takes to makeing not to be a cheese strategy is go outside of the enterance area 🙂
At worst case, it's few steps outside, recover, and back at it
Well, I guess it's the good ole reflexes game again. Mine are bad, so I have to rely on taking a hit every now and then.
Meaning I need lots of health and lots of armor.
That's why I stick with magic
Is it normal for people to get mad after leaving a playthough after 30 mins?😭
it's not about reflexes, but just keeping distance
For which you need reflexes and good oversight.
situational awareness, yes, reflexes, no.
It's easy to get ambushed in her arena.
we're not talking about .25s dodge reactions, just running away when something comes close
Basically the guy commented under my steam profile, and said I stole their recourse and left
Resource?
This was pre eitker btw, I basically made a bed and 2 peices of deer armor
Like deer hide ig?
That is a resource.
Well, it all depends. But things like these is one reason I don't play with strangers.
Misunderstandings can happen very easily.
igg, he then proceeded to add me on two alts and another steam account
Maybe you need to talk to him?
Preferably before you air your dirty laundry here? 😄
He has actual anger issues, kinda why I left in the first place😱
Maybe I'm just getting bad at it. My situational awareness is usually pretty solid, but maybe I'm really just getting too old. 😉
Seems like it would be wise to stay away from this particular person 🙂
Yup.
decent headphones help. You can usually hear something creeping up on you
Yupp, kinda what im doing now :D
I know. I do have good headphones and good speakers. Maybe I'm getting too slow. Oh well, I DID manage to kill her (even if it was on easy), so I'm somewhat relieved and happy.
Just suprised, cuz most people on this server are rlly nice
Always some bad apples
Fortunately/hopefully not too many
Yup.
Curious to know if anyone has been taking advantage of as the community calls it the "extended" combos in-game
Instead of the regular 3-combo
extended combo that swings faster and hits harder
I don't use them
I don't even know how to invoke them. 😄
I'm not sure exactly how it works but you need to hold block during an attack so you go into the block animation from your attack animation, and start attacking as soon as you notice the block animation. it can take some practice to get the timings right.
Animation cancelling basically
the inputs vary depending on weapon type
I sometimes use them but can't rlly consistently pull it off in stressful battles
The block combo is not worth practicing imo, leaves you vulnerable
I'd say practice something else like the "jump combo" or "extended primary power combo"
Based on experience it only currently works on 1-handed with the exception of spears
Doesn't work on 2-handed sadly
yea theres fancy shit that lets you do eg. 3 sword secondaries faster than a normal sword combo but that one got semi-patched
I know its not an intentional thing but I like that the devs kept some because it does require some skill to pull off
yeah its a nice mechanic that adds crunchiness to the combat
theres a couple really braindead ones tho
Yea, i do it with knives
Not really a combo it just attacks faster
guys, im in silver age now. i crafted a frostner, should i craft a silver sword too?
Silver sword is recommended in mountains
Despite the triple dmg types of frostner
Enemeis are resistant to frost in mountains
i already collected my silver and made the gear
Actually, 3 enemies are totally immune to frost.
i dont have much to do in mountains but the 3rd boss
more reason to use sword over frostner in mountain
