the only thing to do is be as prepared as possible. avoid going long distances without a portal set up or a boat to get back to where you sailed and died. otherwise watch zero videos so you dont get anything spoiled cuz everything is awesome going in knowing nothing

Even if you think sneak is important and actually use it, just take a few minutes to level it a few levels to where it's higher than what you'd get with the troll set and just get the extra armor instead until you have extra troll hide

maybe Evo wears heavy and also doesnt sneak which would then actually make sense

My husband and I have the exact same controller. I traded him controllers, and now the sticky trigger issue is gone. Weirdly enough, when he uses my controller on his computer/with the games he is playing, he experiences no issues with the trigger lol. Just had a crazy fight with Moder on this playthrough.

Had TWO golem adds, and they ended up destroying my portal home, so I couldn't retreat back to base.

Ended up relocating to a different part of the mountain to get away from the golems, taking out wolf and drake adds the whole way.

Fight took longer than 20 minutes, and my rested bonus ran out. Used all of my health and stamina meads, 1/3 durability of the Draugr Fang, and 4/5 durability of the fang spear.

Finally beat Moder in the middle of the night.

Most satisfying boss fight I've ever had. Was shaking afterwards

I'm curious about stanima meads. Do the medium/major meads give you a stnaima boost over a quick period of time or do they all just fill up your bar once? Bc for me it takes too much time to open my inventory and select the stanima mead and drink it when kinda just walking would get my bar full as fast. I only see any point in using them if the bigger ones fill up your bar continously for like at least 10 seconds

Stamina meads will regen the available pool, not increase how much is available. That would make stamina foods less important.

Instant meads - acts as a emergency mead instant boost at the cost of two minute duration you cant chug another one and it doesnt increase amount of stamina

Regeneration - main one being tasty mead also acts as an emergency but overtime and is quicker, only a 10 second duration so you can chug another one

You're able to dig a small trench around her altar. That way she won't be able to hit you, you will able to hit her with a bow and the moment she has landed you can out of your hidy-hole and cut her up. The moment she starts to fly, use your bow again.

That way you get her down pretty fast.

Obsidian arrows are better. Most mobs/bosses have poison resist.

You may want a melee option as well for the 4th boss. Depending on how comfortable you are with dodging, that can net you the most DPS

People tend to go the silver sword route. I like the fang spear

Frostner is one of my favorite weapons! Be aware that Moder is immune to frost damage, though. You'll still do a decent amount of blunt, but you may be better off crafting the spear or sword. Maybe even the flesh rippers if you're into that

@midnight roost You've learned a valuable lesson: Never to make landfall in Swamps directly, let alone at night. You WILL be swarmed by Draugr and abominations. At night, wraiths will join the party. Always make landfall either in BF or Meadows right next to it. Even Plains can be a better choice sometimes (better visibility).

yeah generally ive found the rule in the swamp is stand and fight or it gets worse. wraiths will follow you forever, more and more aggros and the wraiths are still there. one of the reasons i love swamp is its this slow and steady spooky creep.

You need to position enemies in a way so only one can hit you. Yes, it is difficult, but it is manageable.

And you need to know when to retreat from a fight.

Be aware, that your sword skill might be low in the beginning, but if you stay alive it will rise quickly.

I tried Mage and it wasn't working for me. Also pierce weapons don't work well on undead.

So my beloved Himminafl was out the window.

Sword and mace work best.

Mistwalker has the added benefit of spirit damage.

Last few playthroughs I've gone with carapace helmet, vilebone chest and loincloth as armor and Krom, Skull Splittur and/or Skol & Hati as weapons.
Carapace armor, shield and Mistwalker combo is nice too.

Skol & Hati actually surprised me how well I fared with them, despite some mobs being resistant to pierce. Secondary attack can stagger quite well, followed by quick primary attacks most enemies melt quickly while staggered.
Also forgot to mention since I've not used them for long time, but AoE options like Himminafl (atgeir secondary) or Demolisher could be good when you get swarmed and need some room.

Other earlier options like Frostner and Silver sword can also be useful.

They're solid weapon type, the secondary attack is 360° swing with huge stagger multiplier (6x), knockback and no multitarget penalty. So very useful for crowd control.
Spinesnap is pretty nice for the extra spirit damage which some of the enemies are weak against.

I would say it's one of the best one handed weapon for crowd control, which stays viable during multiple biomes after mountains.

Best way to fight a bear is to drop a workbench then build some steps onto a pine tree. Climb on up and smack the tree with a low level axe to attract greydwarves. Then chill out and enjoy the show

Hmm, my base in this playthrough has walls in form of octagon. 4 sides 28m and other 4 sides 10m makes (14x4)+(5x4) = 56+20 = 76 wood.

If the troll can see you it will attack you and not the base

Dig a pit and cover it with wooden floor. When the troll attacks lead it to the pit and destroy the floor so it falls in. Now you're free to practice archery until the troll leaves
