polearms (most are called atgeirs) are very strong with high stagger on the secondary attack. Both kinds of two-handed axe are good, but 1h axes are weak weapons

I've been quite comfortable still with Early Axes in mountains, cleared my first few Frost caves with them by skipping iron.

The staff of embers still do well against the mobs in ashlands, with max level, it only takes 2-3 shots to kill charred mobs

When there is like a 1 or 2 star charred, i use the staff of the wild to spam roots to keep them at bay, then either use frost or embers to kill them

Though i now prefer the frost, because of eitr cost low usage

My personal recommendation is a shield and both the sword and mace. Axes are pretty useless, because they're very slow.

Spears are one-trick ponies, they can only do pierce, which some difficult enemies are resistant to.

1h axes also have a very weak secondary attack, only 1.5x damage and knockback and slightly more turnspeed than most secondary attacks

I would never recommend to level spear unless you are... very determined.

For me it's sword and shield. Mace is needed for some enemies, so it's a good secondary option.

Spear's hitbox sux. It's so high, you can't reach anything low. (Unless that has been fixed with the combat patch)

I'm too old and slow. Mage needs to be either shielded or very fast, and I'm slow and the shield tends to break down the exact moment you need it.

Ok, that's a plus for spears, but it's still pierce... which can be difficult.

My master plan for my early swamp base: I am building a stone base with a core wood balcony in the side of a mountain, partially under a huge rock. It will be safe from the elements, especially drakes, but most importantly, if I get raided, the creaters from the different biomes will focus on fighting eachother instead of me

You will always need temporal base for barley/flax and mushroom farming unless you build your main base on either of those biomes.

First time I saw Bonemaw I was on a Karve. Didn't think I was near hot water. Right in front of me going full wind. Crank it around, try to keep wind and go the other way. Another Bonemaw spawns. Kroikey m8. Serpentine. Serpentine. I dont want to land on the mist because im not ready, but i have to. Land. Portal? No, hes by the shore and i have cover. Harvest meat and mandible. Put up bench. Crouch. Of course something hears me. Put up portal. Skedaddle. Live to tell the tale.

I really don't know... Probably Trolls maybe... But wolves are high up on that list as well. At least till I found out they're super easy to kill IF you strike first. That actually goes for most enemies in Valheim.

But I pretty much died to everything that crawls around in Valheim and doesn't like you. Plus some trees as well (which are a very minor cause of death for me).

Tried some magic... Lvl 2 cowl and trousers from the Embla(sp?) set, a lvl 3 asksvin chest peace for at least some protection, and a lvl 2 ice staff. Went around frolicking in the plains and Mistlands... must say it went well. I ate mountains and plains feast and one eitr food (the one where you put seeker meat in it, seeker jelly I think it is). So I didn't have much mana, sorry, eitr, but it was usually enough to machine-gun one fuling or seeker. I encountered two seekers at once and it actually worked out pretty well, as long as I'm on my feet and can avoid the second seeker. Also fought a regular fuling and one one-star. That was a bit tougher. Got hit once by the one-star, but the armor and health was enough to survive.

I used ditches and the side of the mountain to dodge Moder's attacks but i probably took longer than necessary.

Meanwhile in my playthrough, I've discovered Yagluth's spawn location and killed my first vile.

Even with 100 armour, its ground slam attack does like 50 damage.

some resources are limited but there's usually enough that you realistically won't run out

You can plant saplings from tree seeds/cones/acorns and they grow to full trees over time.

Smaller trees and bushes don't regrow tho, including berry bushes. Spare them berry bushes and mark them on map for later forage runs.

If your goal is to use the smaller flora for decoration or easy foraging, plan your build with that in mind. If you have raids enabled, be especially mindful of your bushes and trees being destroyed by them.

But it is possible even with basic wood to make some nice huts, but it's probably better to learn the basic building techniques and then progress from there. Channels to watch on YT are "SmittySurvival" and "Hi, I'm Klaus". But there are lots more that can teach you building nice stuff.

They gave in to the KotOR fans that wanted KotOR 3.
