Help ๐ญ
the wisp is an acessory. it shares the slot for the belt and the wishbone
oh... so your saving this whole run iv been hand capping myself....
better to learn late than never..! : P
gl hf !
You can have only 1 equipped at a time. You can activate multiple if you swap between them./
you can use wood, if you build that new item that was unlocked with the queens loot
i tought wood burns there
ive been playing the whole game with fire hazard on, and its manageable.
Simple example is how Bronze Pendant lasts an entire minute.
So you could proc it, swap to something else, proc that, then switch back to keep both buffs running.
wood can catch on fire and the fire can spread.
use 'repair' to extinguish it
the idea with the markers is quite good. Btw I'm trying to kill a bounty Skeleton but I'm standing right on top of the marked spot with nothing in sight. I also checked if it's maybe in a cave below. There is really no cave entrance anywhere nearby.
does shield core pervernt enemys from entering area like with the traders?
No. It pretty much just blocks ranged attacks
Any ranged projectile hitting the shield will be destroyed, and the shield suppreses spawns, protects against rain, and allows crops to grow despite being in ashlands. I think
Nothing scares enemies off like the trader domes
Yeah a terrain wall or moat is the best bet for keeping enemies out
Those do work very well though
so i only need spikes now for flying raids....
Spikes and Ballistas
anyone know if there is a mod that lets me replace the soundtrack with frieren's soundtrack?
prob but maybe (idk peob talking out of my A) but removing sound files then inserting your own maybe?
Automatic. Do require that you give them a stack of ammo tho
Although by default they target EVERYTHING (that includes you)
If you interact with a trophy it will only target that specific mob. So like if you want it to kill Gjall, interact with a Gjall trophy
They do, though most don't experience that raid. Spawns 2 Gjall at a time
Unlocks after killing yag, disables after killing queen. But it only occurs in mistlands, and a lot of people don't make bases there
oh thank god...
i remember my 1st play tough was tough i was solo and made it to listland before quiting years ago
i since learned about world mods u can turn on... spend up alot of progress and annoying stuff
so sinve i defeated hte queen what sky raids do i have to worry about
how do i unlock the spooky raid, i need that ghost head
Only one is bats
Assuming you've killed both bonemass and at least one bat on your world
there bat thorys?
Need to kill bonemass. Bonemass unlocks so many raids though, gonna be a toss of the dice if you'll get spooky
every boss dead other hten ashlands
ive just been getting assailed by greydwarves so far its getting stale
Gotta keep progressing to get more fun raids
yeah i just been grinding the early areas
soon ill kill the elder and then head to build a new house in the mountains biome
after that, the plains
and after that, uh, whatever is after the mistlands, im not building in the mistlands fuck that place
When are you going to do the swamps?
aw I love the mistlands
Just making sure, since you said beat Elder, then mountains.
id like to make several bases as i advance in the playtrough
with the new building things i unlock
i already got a meadows/dark forest base
though the mountains is a very short area ngl
everyone know the ocean is the shortest area
Yeah, I just don't like moving everything, or gathering everything to build yet another set.
well my meadows base is pretty small
So I keep my first main base as my main base, then just make a series of comfortable, but small, bases.
eventually it will culminate into a mega final base with every building block
thinking about building said thing in the plains
castle...
im not that good at building so it wont be amazing
but ill try
I don't build anything super big anymore. It kind of hit me, eventually, how much time I was spending running from one area to another. So now I do one big central area.
i posted my first base in build screenshots if u wanna see
i just want something i can look back to later on
like when i beat the game and i find my old save years later and im like wow, i remember when i lived here
and that repeats to all the other bases
How do I keep my fire from going out when it rains if I have fire spreads on? Most of my playthroughs have been without fire spreads and im starting a hardcore.
tall enough roof
Fair enough
https://i.imgur.com/o8sZ0EB.png time for ashlands
When it rains? That usually happens when I do not have the fire protected well enough, and the rain can angle its way in.
Same as without fire spread
Just make your chimney / roof covering the fire supported by walls that aren't directly next to the fire
do u even need a fire near in the ashlands
im sure the place is hot enough
uncomfortably hot, probably need a cooler
You do in structures where you want a comfort level.
why is your pfp just a house, whats the lore here
its a haunted house so he is the house
House Robert
Honestly, the ashlands doesn't feel all that firery. It gets cold at night, you don't get rested even near the hottest parts, barely any enemies do fire damage
Only 2 even comes to mind, aside from the boss.
But boy, do they burn you. If you don't have the fire mead going.
Of course, the biome itself loves to try to set you on fire. Or toss you into its warm embrace.
Yeah. I feel it on hard mode with root harnesk. 225% fire damage hurts
Luckily fire is very slow, rare, and dodgeable in this biome
man i feel like my world seed is cursed
no black forest in miles in pure ocean..... black forest biamo
Thats normal, being on water, and it tells you your in a biome you don't even see.
so its not cursed well it its own way?
I call it irritating. Very irritating. ๐
Idk how some people do no map no portal run. We are doing no map and got lost by going down wrong side of the mountain, then ran one way along the shore, got lost again, decided to go inland, got lost. Had to make a makeshift shelter to spend a night and rest then after 2 days of running finally found familiar area and made it home.
I get lost even with maps, so thats something I will never do.
I tried looking at the tree in the sky and only confused myself more. Lesson learned - make no name portal at the base and bring portal on you.
Definitely gets confusing if you don't take the time to make roads, lighthouses, draw a map, etc.
Worst thing is when you get sailing and get lost and now it's gonna take a full day IRL travelling aimlessly until you find something you recognize
Yes, I think we decided to put bonfires along the shore in key locations. Even in the swamps I make a point of creating path using torches and put torches on the crypts that are cleared
I already spend about 500 game days playing a given play through. If I tried a no map I'd probably spend a 1,000 days or more. No thanks.
We are on day 190 and just killed bonemass
I spend most of my time in the plains and later.
I kinda miss fighting bonemass
I've been skipping him the last 1-2 years because I don't like the half a dozen raids he triggers
We are doing mods so way more content. Makes it worth exploring
The trophy looks nice for decoration
Well that and his power being OP
Seems a lot better after the rebalnce tho
Yeah, been considering killing him on a seperate world
Heh, and I beat bonemass because I like all the raids.
ugh fighting bats and skellies when I'm on Ashlands progression just gets awful boring to me
Compounded by being on max raid rate it's just a snooze fest
With the mods we have there's a mead that prevents bats from attacking...
I just play standard. I'll do all that extra stuff once I start using mods after 1.0.
There is one over haul mod I am really looking forward to.
As much as I like vanilla graphics I can't wait for HD 2.0 one. Im just going to find picturesque points and sit there gawking
Yeah, with how good it can look with its native graphics, I am looking forward to some graphics mods as well.
there's a small patch of plains near meadow-swamp transition and somehow it was lucky neough to have deathsquito ๐
I think they made it a requirement to get greeted by them.
Love skitters, they are cute. All you need is some root armor and perfect timing for club uppercut
I prefer the sword. It seems to have a little more reach.
They should have them in the swamp. I don't see many mosquitoes in the plains/desert area
Atgeir at that point
Thats one weapon I still can't stand to use. I've spent hours trying to get used to it.
There were couple times where I was able to successfully harpoon one and jump on it's back and then it takes you waaaaay up. Just dying from falling is no fun
Uh oh.
Throw coins at them maybe they'll accept you again
I hope they don't have any starred mages among them.
Especially fire mages. Getting hit by that fireball makes it seem like the world is ending.
Nvm killed them all
Can you parry the fireball like arrows ?
No, its an AoE.
At the same time? Lots of moving.
Go high so you only have to deal with the gjall. Until a swarm of seekers show up.
Times like this is why I have the Lightfoot mead, the running mead, and stamina meads on me.
As well as Fire Wine.
Right
And a tonic for the nerves. Specially if you do this early-game in troll-armor ๐
jesus findind land in ashlands is annoying holy
Try going in at the center. I've found land pretty quickly every time I went in there. Which has been only twice, out of 4 times.
doesnt help wind isnt helping at all
I don't use the sail while trying to go through all those rocks.
i figoured but i mean getting to the area to the center
Ah, yeah, thats when I always wished I thought to go get the Moder power. ๐
The sack is the lower part?
it usually is
The belly area on the Gjall. The tail section on soldiers takes extra damage too.
How tf to get ticks off my back
if you can find a good crevice to fight from, the gjall will have trouble hitting you
dodge roll. I use a sledge hammer.
Killed the bastard at last
Its why I prefer a sledge hammer. I get directly to killing them.
how long does fermenting take for mead
Usually 2 game days, I think. Its not something I pay attention to.
Its either done, or it isn't.
can you check the bounties while not being at the trader? I mean the ones you have already accepted?
Pretty sure she only cares about which chest you have brought back.
I haven't played in a very long time, but the first bounty target simply wasn't there. Seems the second one is either also not there, or I'm not sure if I already killed it.
i just forgot to make the fermenter until now and im heading to the elder then swamp so i gotta wait
Yeah, I always get two up and running. There are some meads I practically live off of. Fire Wine being one of them.
im jus makin some health pots
I use those too. I just don't need nearly as many.
if there's a patch between when you accepted the bounties and when you went to look for them their positions have likely changed. Delete the map markers and go interact with Hildir's map table again to get updated locations.
LAND HO! ashlands
how much stronger is ash wood vs normal wood for building?
i found a cave is this the boss? https://i.imgur.com/rAZdT0t.png
it's the exact same stability as normal wood
no basically no reason to build with it other thent o style thanks
it's resistant to fire and doesn't burn if you have fire hazards on
but otherwise just for looks, yes
do lox have some kind of frenzy mechanic?
for some time I saw 2 of them beaing calm, and now every time I go past them there are drops on the ground
finding spear-throwing fuling for the first time isn't fun. also he had 1 star. double unfun...
aw man, i really love how these big shields look... but parrying is just so fun
it makes the combat so much more engaging
looks like the island i landed on is empty.,...
Round shields parry well too.
yeah but i cant decorate those
and the bigger the better
for now im in the bronze buckler
With round shields I meant regular shields with 1,5x parry bonus.
There will be round shields with option to change patterns during many next biomes.
you went in on the sides? The ashlands on the edges are usually pretty bare
you generally get one big ashlands in the middle and 2-3 small ones to the side
the mysterious location?
yea
those are on the smaller side islands sometimes
i mean wheres its taking me
also maybe 2-3 fortresses on the bigger ones
fortess? o lord
it's where the good loot is
im guessing heavly guarded
odds of death high for noobs?
so you can just lob fireballs over the walls until it's free for the taking
holy shit i just got a mythical tale
if you try to take one head-on
well im not doing magic this run.....
arrows work too
bolts?
sure
sniping platofmr it is
i was heading to fight the elder but on my way there i realized i had forgotten to bring portal items, so i turned around in a rush and that made my boat get stuck on land, but i ran to my base and got the materials, when i got back, i didnt know how to push my boat back into water, and then a greydwarf and a boar came and they both helped push the boat back into the water... my goats bro...
that is how most people do it
typa shit you read on norse mithology books
whats best amount of chickens for most effient egg farm>
you fell low if boars and greydwarfs are helping you
youre just jealous
not rly, im way worse than you! Yestrday i managed to flip my boat upside down. It got destroyed in the proces and i lost the mats
don't judge, its not like getting a troll to mine for you but its still a great experience imo, I also had a bunch of draugs and leeches kill a 2 star troll for me, was so fun
lad capsized his ship
i get you, but getting in a situation where a boar and a greydrwaft are helping you is funny
i didnt even know it was posible to do that. i was laughing so hard
finally found haldor
got my hands on the legendary megingjord and a fishing rod
and i caught 3 fish!
do fish respawn? my house is on a lake i dont want my pond to be empty
amazing find, I just play on servers these days so no trouble, someone will find everything haha
yes they respawn but a pond, that depends on size and if its near an invisible fish spawner, its complicated, fish spawn mechanics
they do! there is also different bait for different fish, make sure u use the right one for your biome
i mean its a lake i just said pond
one of those bodies of water that extend all across the land
I also don't know if workstations block fish spawns or not, and their radius increases with higher level, but if pond big enough and spawners for fish are placed in a lucky way they should respawn, it takes quite long afaik though for them to respawn
things like flint respawn too, but its not quick
damn
well i guess they can spawn further up or down the river then maybe make their way to me
hey if i catch a fish then release it does it come back to life?
cuz it would be nice to actually make an aquarium
it does!
if there is a river yes that could work but not sure how far they travel, but they do swim around a bit
you can also catch and release as many times as you want, and if you "fully" reel it in, you have a chance of extra drops each time, for some fish from the 3rd biome etc you can get really nice things earlier then boss progression gets you that item!
fish 2 fish for the price of 1 fish
SO you can get stuff that you have be creative to get some of, or if you have enough of the correct bait, you can get something cool from the third biome way before you kill the second boss that "unlocks" the special things in the third biome, if that makes sense
also some fish from 2nd biome unlocks a really cool mead recipe if you have found the 3rd biome trader
i have a buncha troll heads i can craft the right bait
still gotta beat the elder tho
im gonna miss this place...
I was sailing along plains shore in the night, and saw some hooded siloughette near the water
was like "oh, what's that statue?"
second later it vanishes into the smoke...
Odin ๐
wish i could post screenshots of the game without a how long timer
i just wanna share
Odin is a creepy mf
Black Forest has some of the best ligthing, but even 3rd biome its great sometimes but not that often, 4th biome dusk and dawn is great, and 6th biome lighting in some areas is spectacular and maybe even rivals the black forest in some way sometimes
man why did my ship get stuck with cloest thing of land had a army of burning skeles with 1 of them being a 2 star
Theres a screen shot chanel you could post it to
Atp? Like tenis?
Man it would be cool if we could customize our own banner and shield designs
Atp = At that point
suposse im stupid and below average iq
how am i supossed to find out there is a swamp biome
they key's hint is literally just "uh idk it smells bad"
maybe ill think of just going to the black forest to find something
maybe the black forest could be considered swampy enough
i feel like the game shoulda had a slightly bigger nudge for that kinda player
so that they dont gotta resort to googling it
also wow this boss was so easy i did not remember it being this easy
Seeing you erite about the early game makes me wanna start a new world
The Elder is imo quite easy especially if you good at its melee fight or good with the pillars and fire arrows
eventually people will learn, explore biome and loot lots of things, craft etc, prepare for boss, unlock something you need in next biome, continue until you have defeated biome boss 7
yessssss i managed to drag the snake into the shore with no harpoon
no trophy though, just scales
Game encourages you to explore ig, doing this youโll eventually stumble upon it
sweet sweet scales
cant use em yet but i have em
and some nice meat
boating back home rn
that meat is super useful
you dont need to drag it to the shore. get it low so it takes one bow shot to kill, then jump on his head as you shoot your last shot and you can get a trophy that way
thats for advanced players, takes a little bit to learn to do it reliably, instead of missing the shot and that get bitten by the serpent
wish there were more sea monsters to hunt
and you need to ensure you have weight to pick up everything and inventory space for it
I like the sea how it is, sailing is relaxing to me haha
its really not that hard to do and serpent goes for the boat most of the times if u miss
Karve is great for rivers
its great but i feel like they should add a lot more to it, like sailing skill and stuff
Sailing skill would be great, maybe it will come with 1.0
boating is a big part of the game and they did so little to it
no pet rock sadly
what would it even do
learned something recently, if you find a particular meadows area and it has 1 pet rock, there will be 2 more, its always 3 in that nearby area of that biome
i found 0
less wind penalty like a smaller no wind angle or maybe speed increase with the same amount of wind
theres a sailing mod that i like. your boat is faster and has more HP the bigger skill you get. Your scouting radius also increses which i like. because sometimes you can see the island but it doesnt show up on the map and i think thats lame
pet rock is really hard to find
yeah i kinda stopped looking after a while
hopefully ill find the witch in this swamp near my starting area
and i can make that meadows and dark forest platter
๐
not to be the party pooper but you prolly wont find it. it usually spawns further from your starting island
me building my teleporter for main ashland island..... army raid....
how further
between 3 and 8k meeters from spwan
I just beat bonemass and Iโm almost ready to take on the next biome. But first, I gotta build a sick stone house for vibes
usually 1 island away from the main one. it can spawn on the starting island but the island needs to be big
Do creatures have a priority list of which base buldings they want to attack first?
It do feels like Trolls always Bee-line (pun intended) for my bees. ๐ญ
theres a site you can use where you put in your seed and it shows you where traders are, if u dont feel like thats cheating
Tamed creatures are also high priority targets
Yeah, Drakes, Bats and Spirits are real douchebags about that too, but I was directly asking about base buildings.
is there any way to turn off hud
ctrl + f3
i dont understand how to fish man
i reel the fish, sometimes it just doesnt wanna reel
and its close enough to grab but it doesnt let me?
oh my god fishing is so buggy i just got flung across the river
am i supossed to walk backwards while im reeling so i can force the fish into land?
thats what i do, thats what works for me
that works? it didn't for me and fish would get stuck in the water no matter how far I go
this gotta be a 3 star fish, i cannot pull him for the life of me
if cooking fish wasn't locked after later biom, I would be fishing from the boat in the ocean
it was a 2 god damn
does it look like it could swallow you?
i had to drag him into the shore
wait till you see a level5 ๐
I make a dock with a roof ramp into the water so itโs easier to walk them back. So much troll fish and pike that way
Hi everybody
I'm new here
But just like you, I am naked and need help getting my stuff back from the swamp
IT GOES THAT FAR UP?????
yep
a lvl5 is something else
I dont recommend turning it into food and just use it for decor instead
Eat all the stamina food and hotkey a stamina potion, drink it just as your stam bar runs out
yeah i will if i ever see one of those
And then wait 2 whole minutes before trying again
i barely just beat the elder so i dont htink i have the stamina for one of those
fishing is on 7 rn
First time I fought the elder I accidentally summoned two
That forest got flat quick
I'm up to mistlands and I still don't think I've gone through the batch of core wood I picked up
yeah im just catching lvl 1s and 2s rn
gonna stock up a bit so i can actually use the fish food
no idea it existed first time playn
ill put a screenshot of it in that chanel
5 quality fish indeed is something else, you cannot even spawn fish with that amount of quality with console commands.
I always wonder how many level 5 fish I've sailed over without noticing because I wasn't fishing
"caught a perch and amber" what,... theres treasures too
they are very rare, ive only seen 1 and i spent a lot of time fishin
Yeah each species has a potential thing they've swallowed
wow...
Pulling them to shore and picking up works, but main idea is that you better stop reeling when the fish struggles/shakes, since it drain much more stamina. They cannot pull the line any longer so you can pause at any time with no stamina cost (but no regen either).
Sometimes I sit there wondering wtf I'm gonna do with 1 flint
"lost a catch" no i did fucking not. i grabbed that mf mid air
Latest 5 quality I got was Anglerfish.
That thing would eat you first
fish fear me
I have gotten 7 out of 12 of all fish with quality 5.
that mustve been hard to reel in
i thought if i stop reeling it leaves
Tetra?
It would have, but I used Karve trick.
No tetra sadly.
I've never seen anything bigger than an R2 Tetra.
a karve trick?
this has to be a lvl3, i cant pull him
Perch, pike, trollfish, pufferfish, grouper, tuna and anglerfish.
Apparently they happen. Heard of someone who built a portal and checked the cave first thing after waking up every day
what does it mean when the fish is shaking around
That's when it's struggling. Stop reeeling in then
Remember the luring distance is actually quite large if you're patient. If you can see the fish, just plop the bait in about 7m from yourself, they'll wander over eventually
no after it releases, it shakes on the water
It means shorter reeling time
just issues with the AI.
Always happens when you lose a fish.
Freedom dance
Remember to let your stam bar refill before casting again, in case you get a quick hit
A little cheesy trick: if you run out of stam and lose the fish, leave your line in the water. Sometimes it'll bite again in the same spot you lost it.
whats a karve trick?
Cast the bait, sit on Karve where you steer and reel until you have 1-2m, start reeling when fish catches.
oh my god this fish was literally right next to the shore and i still lost him
im so washed bro
You can run and grab it I think
Other thing you can do is drag them on shore. Then you pick them up when you lose them.
yeah but it never reached the shore
Reeling in = fishing exp up
call boars and greydwarfs to help you!
just be careful not to let the line break.
so i couldnt
You don't have to hook fish to get your level up
Just keep casting and reeling in
Just fn yeeeeeeet that thing out into the ocean, maybe you'll hook a fish but probably not. Exp anyway
draining all my stamina in a milisecond
Fishing skill doubles when you have a fish on. Catch perch.
Are you wet? Get rested bonus too
My trick is to always cast as far as I can, then reel in to between 7 and 13 m. Wait for the fish there.
why cast far then?
Little bit of extra exp
practice reeling in, like you said. Free practice.
I'll sometimes go sit on shore in my meadows and haul in perch and pike from 23m just for the exp.
GOT HIM I GOT THE 3
Early game your rested bonus won't be lasting long. Go back to camp and sleep, come back fresh. Stamina will be far more manageable
LVL3 pike
The other thing to remember is that fish are in the 'struggling' state as soon as you hook them, even if you don't see the animation. When you hook a fish, wait 4-5 seconds then start reeling.
Now throw him back. Sustainable fishing practices
Throw him in a koi pond in your base.
AND A LEVEL 3 PERCH
Throw him at a greydwarf, see how they like it
these fishes are never gonna see the light of day again
Throw him into the sun, so ALL he sees is the light of day
into the fish chest they go
They stack based on size, you're gonna end up needing multiple chests over time
okay im going to bed but i managed to catch:
perch: 6lv1 5lv2 1lv3
pike: 8lv1 3lv2 1lv3
I recommend early game having a second chest just for your biggest one of each species
the meadows fish chest
Hello can I join to somebodyโs server bc my friends donโt have valheim
Until you build a trophy hall
you mean... iron piles? you can find them above ground yes
Because I was doing a run today, from chest to chest
And on my way back there were just 3 random iron scraps there
That DEFINTIELY weren't there 2 mins ago
Nope. Actual just random iron scraps laying there
Not even together. Just nearby to each other and sparkling and auto-pickable
they can fall out of dungeons when iron scraps clip through the walls
Ong yes okay
That has to be it
gn gamers
pretty common, you can usually pick up a small handful after finishing one and coming back out
N
cya
Yeah, it is known bug since 2024 after Unity engine update before Ashlands.
Yeah it makes perfect sense
I had just finished a crypt and was hauling the iron to the next crypt
Is the best source of soft flesh always going to be giant skulls?
well... killing dvgrs is an option
Is Staff of Protection good?
It's the one that grants most of it. Tissue drops sometimes from dvergr upon death and their camps have boxes that also contain the same stuff.
yes, its considered broken
Those tweakers?
the dwarfs
It's BiS for magic users.
Yeah the jittery drug addict guys
Bzzzzzz
Always vibrating like they just took a hit
I mean, they aren't hurting anybody except themselves
until you hit them by accident
It's not like they have much to look forward to anyway
I am 100% guaranteed to kite a gjall into your house if your house is in the mistlands
It's your own fault for picking dodgy real estate
so true
the gjall will move island to island just to sht on me, me and gjalls are on sight
Plus, at a distance, that looked like a house full of hares. It's not my fault you're short and wear black
Arbelest through the window, splatting sound, oh sorry was that your uncles
I took a really beautiful screenshot today and a gjall appeared while I was tabbed out and admiring it
the screenshot was so good even the gjall came over just to see it
I thought "ah this is so nice, I'll go take another one" and tabbed back over to find everything on fire
you shoulve taken another one and made a before/after photo ๐
That's what they said in the reddit thread but I was too busy trying to be less on fire and also rescue my extractors
Gjalls are the reason I finally gave up my root harnesk
I fought yagluth in that thing
It has been with me through thick and thin
Gjall are one of the reasons I live in my fenris set.
Damn really?
They're otherwise quite easy but they certainly sneak up on you
I could never give up 3 armor slots to combat a gjall
Usually I just take a dip in water before fighting them
I just shoot them with the arbalest until they're dead
I used to do that but spears are just too fun and quick to kill them with
You toss spears at them?
More like arba BEST
Amirite?
You guys
Amirite
Yea. Sitting underneath them chucking 1-2 spears into their underbelly and instantly picking the spear back up as it falls down on you to throw again chunks them fast
Probably not faster than a bow considering how OP they are, but very nice
There are these 2 bears in my swamp, who take tuns tanking for me. It's a bit like WoW but significantly more fun.
Building with stone, marble, and grausten is a nightmare
Keeps collapsing all the time, so I need like 3000 beams and pillars for support to get one single stone floor to not collapse
is the deepnorth just going to be a Biom?
What's the actual upside? looks and structure hp?
Building with stone?
yes
It can take more punishment, compared to normal wood.
Any reason as to why we don't keep our rested bonus and other buffs after relog?
but in terms of wood. Wood = Wood hpwise? There is no difference between like crapwood and Corewood etc, right?
ashwood is resistant to fire and doesn't burn and corewood has higher stability than other woods
That's why you can build higher with corewood.
The part where you have to remember to check all the buildings for Honey to make mead later on can really nip you in the butt harshly.
I haven't played since before MIstlands was released. I should have simply gone on land whenever I spotted a village, so I wouldn't have a massive problem with a mead pipeline.
What is "รฅttet"? Dvergr always say it
I don't know, I tried translating it into Swedish though it only said "รtit", which means "eaten"
where do you make sausages? I can still remember them being from Entrails but I can see the recipe anywhere.
You need couldron lv2
4 Entrails
1 Boar Meat
1 Thistle
I see, thanks. They should still show you the recipe imo and simply keep it grey with the remark for Cauldron lvl 2.
Norwegian for โeightโ but I donโt know the greater context
Also I believe Dvergr say "ร tett" and not "ร ttet", if I'm not wrong?
is anyone of you using PlantEasily or MassFarming?
Seeking someone to join my on my personal world i built ๐ Just killed Dragon and would love someone to continue with. Im a building adict and have built quite a few bases with portal to make things a bit more simple..
How much of a difference does the Eitr-weave set do to Eitr regeneration?
I tried regenerating with and without the Eitr-weave and didn't find that much of a difference.
Try asking in #mods-discussion
already did. Forgot about that channel.
it's a nonsence word ๐
You might find someone in #1024264966712340510
Tried... no response 2 days ๐
built quite a lot up to goblin (skeleton bos) but wana do it with someone kinda no fun alone (thoo i love to build)
It should double your regen.
I got 100%+ Eitr regeneration however I didn't notice much of a difference
Eitr regen is usually pretty fast anyway. You might notice a bigger difference when your max Eitr is higher
I find people get more responses when starting a fresh world. Solo can be very fun! Take your time and enjoy the peace, because other players can really change how you play.
I ate Stuffed mushroom, Seeker aspic, and Yggdrasil porridge, which gave me 240 max Eitr
Solo can be fun, but i find it more enjoyable when you conqure something toghter ๐
The other thing is that positive bonuses are additive, meaning you get +100% from being rested and just another +100% from the set. They dont' multiply on one another.
Started over already, not really after that sadly ๐
that's the sad part when nobody wants to play the same game as you, i just accepted that playing solo valheim is the way for me
Right yes
but i am still sending some screenshots from my world to my friends๐
maybe someday somehow
I want the Dvergr component crate but there are so many of them around it ๐ซ
Then cheese it.
There are several ways to get that item and some don't require you to fight them or even anything at all.
Nah I don't like exploits
I managed to take it and run
So you ran through the plains not using the Root Armor?
Or didn't use the root mask when fighting in the swamp?
If you have feather cape and the dvergr component crate is located at the top of the settlement, you could just grab it and dip to a high place
Yeah it was at the top but I sorta just jumped down and bolted
does cultivating simultaneously level the ground as well?
I got a few of them at first with my Atgeir spin attack
No
Only level ground and stone paths level it
Kinda, it levels it the almost the same way as if you hold shift with hoe
Not sure if if to the same height as it tho
Wait mo @sharp owl It does but not as much as the level ground and stone path
Wasn't there a bullet proof way with placing structures to 100% get the ground leveled?
Structures dont affect how you level the ground, with normal level ground using hoe you level the ground to the level at which the ground already is directly beneath player character. And when using shift with hoe you level it to the height of a point you are currently looking at with the crosshair.
Yeah, use stone floors because they are thick enough to account for the couple pixel difference.
Level. ๐
yeah in theory, yes. but you always have these special spots. I even hightened the ground and peeled it off with a pickaxe again, just doesn't get flat.
Never really had that issue myself ๐ค
But you probably could be at the bottom (or top) of the ground modification limit
I often laydown stone block floor, or raise my wood structure up at least a meter to avoid worrying about the ground as much
when the achievments will be added on steam people who have done it already will get it or we just have to play the game again to obtain it?
One would hope the latter.
So whats the general community sentiment on Ashlands now? Did the dev ever make many changes to it? I know I legit never finished it because it was just not fun to me and turned Valheim from a survival game with frequent combat to a horde game.
What do you mean they never finished it?
I'd say most likely you don't automatically get (most) of the achievements, but if you have a world pretty far along you might get a few / get them very easily when interacting with certain things. Where's the fun in that though?
They release it, it was amazing.
Casual people complained.
They nerfed it into the fucking ground.
It is now boring.
Still finished, just boring.
Knight didn't.
Knight said he never finished it
I made it to like where you take over some abandoned castles and make elemental weapons but never killed the boss because I was just not having fun with the game
I know only of Smiffe ๐
hey guys, I was wondering is there any news on the development and future content?
@autumn echo Valheim is done at 1.0, sounds like they have already started a new 1st person dungeon crawler game
It's pass time project, not something Iron Gate is going to produce during their work hours.
Yeah, i saw what they published. Begraved looks interesting but is not my cup of tea ngl so i have to say im a bit afraid for Valheim since there was a lack of communication in the last few months. Im still hoping for a bomb annoucement about the 1.0 update and official mod support. I believe that would push Valheim into a legendary status, at least for me it would.
In December they didn't publish Word from devs post because they were already on holiday, which they announced in other social medias.
I have internet, ran a speed test and its all working, but when i try to start a server for my buddy to join it says Failed to log in. It keeps giving me the retry countdown but nothing is fixing it. What do i do?
I asked in help but I am desperate here
I am aware of that. Time has proved IronGate is small but dedicated team who I believe are pretty passionate about what they made and are making. I guess patience is a virtue
Yeah, they unfortunately have past experience when they announced the road map in 2021 but had to scrap it since they couldn't produce all that content due to large amount of players and prioritising bug fixing because of it, which is one reason they are more wary on giving specific timelines for next big updates.
Also true, also aware of that. I respect what they are doing. Im pretty sure none of them expected 12 million sold copies so they pivoted pretty well in that regard. The question that comes to mind though is if they expanded their team or not, sounds like they could have for sure. And im pretty sure a lot of different people would like to contribute, but again still. Its their project, their game and in that regard, their tempo of development and announcements, for sure.
They expanded from 5 to 15ish (don't remember exact number).
Yeah, thats not really a big expansion, was my point. Im sure they are balancing between quality and quantity, they dont want to make mistakes a lot of modern games make
- They expanded to 16. They aren't going any bigger because its more important to them to have a small family like atmosphere than to go big, lose that work place feeling, and maybe get things done faster.
happy people make game happy people play game
I've been here since 2021. Their consistent quality is what has made me learn to be patient, and just support them in doing all of this the way they want to do it.
Happy people, happy bees.
happy bees, happy honey. ๐ฏ
Happy honey, sad Elder.
Happy honey, happy honmoon?
Happy honey, happy mead!
Hard to be patient when youโve been waiting to play since 01 and they just announced the one console you have. Sooooo excited
How you been playing for 25 years?!
happy mead, happy me.
now now, they've been waiting to play for 25 years
Aha! That makes more sense.
I've been waiting for over 50 years. I just didn't know until 2021 it was Valheim I had been waiting for the whole time.
anyone wanna do a c oop world?
People try to arrange all that in #1024264966712340510 I have no idea what success rates are like.
i'm playing valheim on hard w/ creatureandlootcontrol mod, after i killed the elder the difficulty just ramped up, almost every mob at least has a star + i somehow got 1-star abomination as my first enemy in the swamp. love this ๐ญ
@silk token https://discordapp.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202263390056357928/1470963383653236818
12 damage per parry does hurt a little but overall I'd say they look pretty solid. Getting staggered at one point was rough, but tbh your food was also on half at that point
I hope I find myself a couple axes on my next run to try them out
Tears of joy ๐
yeah, it averaged about 50% chance self-stagger, probly less if i had just eaten but food wasnt ticking yet either. my hardest time was actually against brutes, they attack so fast you cant hit and dodge, and they do more dmg than bear swipe not parryable at all. i was IMMEDIATELY caught with forest is moving and had a real tough time using only axes
Yeah brutes are honestly brutal (pardon the pun)
That's why I love when I can get bear fists and fight them. One kick stagger to chain into regular attacks
i had to switch to shield and spear to fight brutes, the only way to fight brutes and not take big damage is timing the final combo swings and staggering them but thats pretty tough they have that ima-wander-around AI
but theyโre still sick damage, honestly pretty well balanced as an inbetween meadows and bf weapon. its highly likely iโll prefer bronze axe and buckler in swamp. but again this is all hard difficulty, i think theyโre pretty perfectly balanced for normal play so i cant critique them fairly
I have 58 beehives and 3x resource rate
fists are great. i almost made them to clear tombs, but the earlys actually performed really well there too. i thought id he hitting the walls too much and have trouble without parry, cuz spoiler you can just barely parry skeles too, but theyโre so much damage the โjust kill itโ strategy works
I have 36. Standard settings.
Yeah honestly I think I'll like them early more than anything just to not have to spend bronze on an axe for finewood, and because they'll probably level axe skill faster
iโd love it if the damage is high enough to stagger drauger well enough to get me to my sweet iron darling. I can always use buckler and spear too but i want to try earlys. thing is Iโm playing one life so the swamp will be full of hard lessons lol.
Bro for why
๐ป
oh also before putting on bear armor the post-parry damage was more like 20
I need to make me some bear fists. Probably have the paws by now
Challengee: mine enough copper to make enough fermenters to use all that honey
bigger challenge: put 3/4 of those queen bees in the obliterator you don't need them
But they are so happy to have frens

Ngggaaaaah!! I hate farming drake trophies for the helmet!!
Killed like 40 and got 1
This is Smiffe's fault
when in doubt, blame the community manager
Exactly

Whats worse is that when I got my first drake trophy I got super happy because I thought I needed only 1
the problem isnt the drop rates, the problem is drakes cant be starred
starred drakes would be fun, but it wouldn't change anything for getting their trophy, would it?
you could also argue its a blessing they cant be starred
Just make it a little harder to get the trophy if anything
i thought starred enemies usually drop more trophies?''
Yeah, starred has no effect on trophy drops.
Yeah I think 2 stars always drops a trophy?
No. Same chance and they still only drop 1
hmmm well that is stupid
Hm I could have sworn it did
i had forgotten how vanilla works since i play wwith star level system which does affect trophies ๐ญ
to the suggestions channel i go!
Do it!
It's been suggested many times ๐
and ill suggest it again
i aint afraid to suggest previously suggesteed things
if anything, im aura farming those recycle emotes
it's funny, i'm sure it's the video game gods but every time i go "sigh... i really SHOULDNT fight this star bear..." the game rewards me with a trophy
I would hate if starred always dropped trophies, after getting the trophy you need it's just inventory bloat.
fi i didnt know otherwise id say star bears drop trophies more
YES, my suggestion that i definitely didnt reuse from someone else, is farming MAXIMUM aura
what better way to be cool than being in the valheim discord server and people liking your suggestion
Next up, suggest starred drakes, because that still won't solve the issue that person had ๐
TRUE
imo, hot take, all enemies should be able to be starred
going to the mountains and NOTHING being starred has always bothered me
if there are starred seeker soldiers, there should be starre stone golems
guys, if i start a world now without exploring the north region, and then they drop it will i be able to play it or do i have to start a new game?
Depends on which trophy, and whether or not you fish, and how much you fish. I actually have a hard time keeping up with Troll and abomination trophies until I stop fishing after the Plains food need ends.
Interesting, I am typically overflowing in those trophies already, even while fishing.
Maybe you kill more of them than I do, or just typically get better RNG on them than I do.
I guess I would just say, their suggestion doesn't ask for guarantees, so it might still be worth just killing regular foes.
Rekt
Haha I am sorry I was too lazy to scroll, it was JackDenDanske.
Its too late now. Damage is done and my self esteem has taken permenant damage
How will you ever recover
I know right?
Probably wont
This is Smiffe's fault
Damaged for the rest of your life.
When you are in your 90s, youll be telling the people in the nursing home about that "dangnabbit meanie in the valheim discord who forgot my name."
AND... cannot remember their name.
My fate is sealed
Do you think you start using words like dangnabbit as you get older? ๐
Member Valheim ?
Well hopefully when im in my 90s im not going to be saying 67 ๐
I was about to say that lmfao
This is the way.
67
Just wait till Superbowl LXVII
For anyone who ridicules 67, I remind us that my generation had Hampsterdance ๐คฃ
I listened to that a few days ago lmfao
Me too!! It was on the radio of all places!
Mighta headbanged to it a lil. Donโt judge.
Hampster Dance? I guess I am old.
That sound still fills me with rage
I LOOVE the Gjall sound effects
Dubstep is fine, but not when it drops ticks and spits fire
Me too. The sounds make sure the bas... errr... ummm. vile creatures don't sneak up on me.
Gjalls need to have a pilot in an aviator hat since they sound like biplan3s
how about peanut butter jelly time?
Get that goblin from the bottom of the sealed tower.
Imagine an enslaved gjall โwarshipโ that dropped fulings instead of ticks
I would find them less annoying than ticks.
Speaking of which, whats up with that mysterious location in Ashlands, and all those 2 stars? WTF!?!?

Itโs a mystery. ๐คทโโ๏ธ
Well, not so much anymore. Just after fighting a dozen or so of them, I am just staying away from it.
Now, if that staff works for us, as it does for him, well, then I'd go back and get it.
Also, just shows how fickle RNG can be, since I never saw a stone for it in my previous 3 times going into the Ashlands.
This sounds like a balrond amazing nature enjoyer
โWoodenโ nails?
I'm guessing another game entirely. Or mods.
Balrond amazing nature has wooden nails, so they are probably talking about that or another mod
And they probably posted it in the wrong server
Is there a way to have the mod tabs on the build menu configuation adjusted where they don't go above the window or down into the item selection area
Probably best to ask in the mod channel here, or join and ask in the Valheim modding Discord.
Also I just smelted some iron and got copper out of the smelters
probably the mods lol.
Instead of iron? Could have been copper you forgot to smelt.
I put iron in I know I did, it was iron ore
maybe there was some copper left on the smelter
They had no ore in them
So no iron came out? Just copper? IF so, then yes, the mods likely caused that.
Which I hope was a one time problem.
Your mother would be proud
That you invaded the dragons homeland to brutally murder innocent drakes
what makes "no skill drain" effect go reset?
it feels like Ijust went through portal and it is now again at 10m
Not sure. To my knowledge only dying should do it, but it does sound like other things reset it too sometimes
May be a bug
known issue
If the animal whispers mead cuts the taming time from 30min to 15min but it lasts 10min
Once it runs out do I need to drink another to keep it halved
You'll get 10 minutes of increased taming speed
it affects how fast progress is made, not the maximum amount to finish taming
Got it
Thanks
Shouldn't wolves be afraid of fire same as bears?
If not moreso
really clucks when you can't run/roll/jump away because there's some living tree trunk sneak up on you and got in ur way
A what
idk if this is about all the stuff you can get stuck into in the BF, but i adopted the habit of chopping all the stumps* and smaller trees in that biome. it does get in the way.
also, it seems like its a faster way to get wood than chopping the bigger trees. but i'm really not sure about that.
i guess so , but it would not be a good thing in term of gameplay, in my opinion.
it would make being hunted too easy
abomination probably
Can I tame two wolves together or will they not calm tf down?
Sure I guess
Yes, they won't aggro each other
Doesn't seem like that though
even if one is tamed first, tamed creatures won't attack the same species
When it was one it was ok but now I got another one in (both still wild) and not calming down now
feels like it to me.
Probably other stuff (like you) angering them
But honestly taming has always felt a tad janky to me
I tame them in pairs frequently. So its likely either you, or some mob, is close enough to keep them alerted.
Ok working now ty
last time I tamed, I tamed the animals in solo pits, then dug the pits to each other and let them make whoopie.
I didn't even do pits this time
Not actually necessary
Just put some stake wall around them throw some meat and bugger off
Not too far away ofc
my last time was in Ashlands ๐
bruh wtf...
greydwarf just murdered 2 star boar I just tamed because they through rock...
I didn't even see that rat sack of rotten wood
fences make good neighborrs
huh?
like 3 uses? Yeah not a ton
All 3 items are very nice imo tho
True
Still, when I first played I got a ton of the scales and got so disappointed when I realized you can only make a shield, and harpoon with it
What was the third thing?
Think you're mixing up two things
Serpent Scale (dropped by serpent) makes the serpent scale shield and fins of destiny (new trinket)
Chitin (mined from leviathans) makes abyssal razor (iron-tier knife), harpoon, and also used for fins of destiny
Ha. Im old. I meant 21 not 01. Apologies.
ashlands literally took the fun from valhiem and took the movementum
The main line of progression in Ashlands ||(forts)|| really killed it for me yea
Otherwise I think devs did fairly well. Some smaller issues for sure but the progression is what got to me
I don't mind their changing things up so much in Ashlands. I have much more of a problem with just how ugly the biome is. Yeah, sure, its the "war" biome and everything, but even in real war fronts, you can still see a beautiful sun set or rise. There is nothing beautiful in the biome.
its pure design of enemies
its nice to have variety. I think the difference for me was when you are all geared up and done with the biome, you are quite done with it.
there pretty minimal reason to make a permanent base there, especially with its lack of connection to any other biome.
I really doubt you could somehow build a cozy happy place that doesn't just feel like a tomb ๐
too many teams which are annoying to fight
2 morgans 2 valks 2 ashvin at the same place?
you shouldnt allow them to spawn like that
that not fun to fight
just entered a fort and got swarmed by alot of enemies
How small of a gap can bats fit into?
like rats with wings
Ya. But can they fit into 1m ? Smoke needs 2m
nasty
does smoke need 2m?
I mean the point is that they all do friendly fire damage so you gotta turn them against each other
for chickens and boars, I'd keep my fire area separate entirely.
I like the enemies and spawn rates
I wish there were deadzones and I wish the environment was a bit stronger, one lava bomb thing blowing up an archway is kind of sad.
spawn rates are too much and too annoying
like 2 valks and 2 morgans together?
you wont even be able tofight them or get your loot back
i like ashlands a lot...
I like it conceptually, but its not fun to play
i think its fun to play..!
i mean i loved sekiro and elden ring
i finished them
i like challeange as long as their fun and fair
there is nothing fun in fighting 2 morgans 2 ashinvs and 2 valks
you cant even run away from them
they will literally catch you
shoot those valks with the spinebreaker and frost arrows. or silver arrows.
anything pervasive is annoying, and in ashlands there is just a constant wave of enemies from all directions, there is no rhythm, or encounter,, just constant fighting
you wont be able to bow them down when there is 2 morgans on you
I managed to suppress spawns around my ashlands base. Just need to spread a lot of campfires
true
the survial mechanics of other biomes are gone in this biome
Can Morgan's climb?
if you try to take them all at once, you will fail.
oh man, imagine if it worked more like a warzone, kinda of like raids, a general ashland skele spawns and a horn goes off, and an army marches from one area to another?
the only thing hard in ashlands in the swarms of enemies
its the only biome where i resort to spawnproofing zones with campfires
Ashlands is just tedious
taking over a fortress should significantly reduce spawning in a larger area.
but ironically, its the only biome where wood and stones are a bit hard to find
true
mistands was hard but it was kinda fun too
like exploring and going to dungouns
here you cant even explore or do anything
i go for explore or go anything in ashlands i get ganged by alot of them and die
and now i have to send 1 hour to get them back
i spent about 2 hours in ashland yesterday, in my no-map/no-portal world. i didnt make that much progress, but its not like i was stuck and couldnt go forward.
atleast they should despawn when you die
can someone please explain trinkets to me? Are there any disadvantages in using them?
i like to use the frostner to slow enemies in ashland when i need to run away
it'll be interesting to see how you progress through it. On mine I cheated a bit because I looked up the seed. But I still landed my boat at the wrong place multiple times and got lost many times trying to find the next fortress or get back to my corpse.
yes the disadvantage is you have to give up 1 inventory space mostly (some also take quite a while to get activated)
the use up a slot of inventory...
and there not free to craft some use things you might not have tha many of at that stage of the game
i got scared of sailing through the spires and landing near the edge xD
hit things for an extra power up
if you don't hit things a lot they waste an inventory slot
i followed the advices that was given to me here, about the logistics of building my 1st bases
I am almost done with Mistlands and I haven't made one single trinet yet...
Does it mean that I can only have 1 trinket active at a time?
i made a small base on a spire, near the shore. then i spotted an old structure where i can place something more permanent. but i had a feeling i might have landed on a small landmass so i scouted for FM 1st. i didnt find any. but i left with a boatfull of goodies. and a clear marked path from there to my nearest base.
my last playthrough I didn't bother with a trinket.
I used one of those buildings, when I first landed, but morgen f'd it up. So then I built a earthen walled base witth a catwalk to a grausten spire, which acts as a dock
thats exactly my issue with building in those... i cant repair them if they get damaged. so it seems like a matter of time before they fall
I just reinforced them with Grausten walls. the roofs don't really get damaged much
Eventually my way in and out was through the roof anyway, feather cape.
i use mistwalker
mining for stones in ashland attracts a ton of monsters, so i decided to get more from my previous base instead. it gives me time to decide what i want to do
yeah, no mining necessary typically, so much destruction
the mistwalker is probably better than the frostner, but it doesnt knockback, which is super useful vs the charred warriors
what is the most effective way to farm hares in ML?
I wish you could mine the spires flat
I like mistwalker pretty good against both valk and morgen, Morgen you can use it and just dance around the guy and take down more than half his life while he slowly tries to catch up with you
i have 3 methods. 1: ooze bombs. 2: 'spike traps' 3: clearing an area of mist and hunting them with the xbow.
use a knife or fist weapons/claws, have leapfoot and ratatosk going so your stamina stays up.
i love the mistwalker. but i havent used swords at all in this run, it feels weird to start now
i've been using frostner and the skoll and hati knives...! i love them even more now :3
the askvins seem to have a better hearing than eyesight. when i get close they start going in my way without seeing me. i can sneak attack them with the secondary jump attack, it deals 1500 dmg xD
ok thanks
what is that, berserkir axes?
skoll and hati are the mistland tier knives
can kill rabits with just about any knife.
i didnt think i would be able to use them in ashland but i brought them anyway. and they kick ass.
I used vile claws in mistlands, even used them in ashlands for awhile.
the reason i didnt play much with them is they dont seem 'optimal' for the current end game.
i like playing the fist weapons though
I think fist weapons should be pierce/bludgeon
Feel like they could fit any category
I mean currently we got blunt, pierce, and slash fist damage
All just depending on the shape of the weapon you put on your fists
Magic fists, when ?
and how you attack, I mainly say this because he straight punches
that actually sounds fun. idk how it would fit in the game, but its a cool suggestion.
True, the animation for the slashing ones does feel odd
eagles claws: pure slash, parry bonus
crystal golem fists: blunt/pierce/spirit
morguen: slash/blunt/lifesteal (looks like the flesh has rotted off your hands)
Eagles donโt exist in Valheim. Valkyrie talons
well seagull claws wasnt very inspiring
yeah make that the lifesteal one, so like morgenn heart + valkyrie nails or w/e
you are wet
Oh yes daddy
Can you push smoke to the side at all, or does it have to be a vertical chimney
Iโm trying to figure out how to set up smoke management for my smelters and kilns
hard to answer this but some of it has to be above the fire, also the total space of chimney matters, if its very high it sorta dissipates completely
mmm I might just mess around with it until something works
I was looking at the wiki and it didnโt really help ๐
I've seen internal horizontal smoke dissipaters, I think the idea is that each smoke puff has a duration, so making a conduit long enough for it to travel will have the same effect as funneling it outside
what I canโt tell is whether you can reliably โpushโ smoke with the undersides of roof pieces
you mean diagonally? without it backflowing? prettty sure
yes
alright, hopefully my plan works
if not I probably could just go straight up and not worry about it
there are some pretty interesting chimney's on youtube. I've see one where he takes the full stone fireplace and spits it out a pretty tiny chimney,
Yeah pushing smoke with roof pieces works fine in my experience
my default is just a double roof. the one above the fireplace higher up a bit. sometimes just about the size of the fireplace, other times half the house.
I don't even make chimneys. My roof is high enough that the smoke just dissipates. For an example, look at the biggest buildings in a draugr village. That roofing is more than high enough to not even need a chimney, even though the full houses do.
Another example is dvergr towers in the Mistlands. If you put a fire on the first floor of a tower with roof access, the smoke will choke you if you stay in the stairs on the second floor part of it, but you won't have that happen going to the roof.
I am fighting the Queen. Should I keep using lvl 2 black metal shield? Or should I craft carapace buckler or shield instead?
With Frostner ofc
BM tower shield is better I think
Pretty sure the numbers on the carapace shields are better.
I used a carapace shield last time I guess.
They only asked about parry shields. The BM Tower Shield is a beast, though. Which is why it remains the best going into Ashlands.
Hey guys, joined the server for this question. Is there a line of code in the game that checks where the player goes, wants to go and make the wind go the opposite goddamn direction?
Nope.
probably
I really hope that the AI gets improved in the next patch
elitkir just sat around and let me shoot him without attacking me lol
I have 156 hours in this game. I always paddle that piece of shit
All weather, including wind, is all pre determined for all worlds. Which is why we can look up our weather for any given day, regardless of your world/seed.
can you parry the queen? does it do any good? I find that fight tougher than it should be.
You can't parry any boss.
if by parry you mean ||spread out refined eitr and sit behind the wall|| then yes
I don't even like blocking the Queen. She knocks me way back.
I did the whole stand in a safe-ish spot and poke over and over.
Mobility works best with her. Just kind of chase her around and hit her at her sides or back/tail.
Only reason I use my shield is to block her mobs, or keep from being hit by her.
Meaning, ideally, I would never be hit by her, but when its going to happen, I use it.
boo
i hope we do get cosmetic vegetation some time
Vineberries don't count?
i mean sorta, ig i should have said more
i got into blueberry plants IRL cuz of this game.
We also have ivy, from the
Hag.
Still desire more ๐ค
Would love access to the small sized trees ๐ฑ
Mods are not hard to use, so once I start using them, I'll have everything to plant.
Plant Everything mod is definitely useful for having access to more flora options. Unfortunately if youโre on console, thatโs not an option ๐ค
Will be seeing a lot more console players joining our community this year!
Mods are part of the reason why I stopped using consoles over 15 years ago. I prefer being able to add things to a given game that the devs never added or did.
i dont like mods personally
every time i use a mod im like "damn i wish i was playing normally"
Thats fine. I love them.
Pretty much with you there. Your never going to find me using more than 30 mods, or so. Depending on the game, and mods available for it.
I think my longest mod list is for Skyrim.
Naturally
Skyrim kinda needs it ๐
So far I have 8 mods I want to use to play Valheim using, all are QoL mods, plus one graphics. There is an over haul mod I am interested in.
Skyrim is the game with the largest and best variety of mods
Even so, my list is in the 40's. I've seen many using 100+. They also complain about a lot of conflicts. Go figure.
Yeah better use a readymade modlist
So, the Queen is killed. Anyone mind nudging me in the right direction as to what's next? Without spoiling too much
Especially since they use several mods that changes the same things for the graphics. I guess Modding 101 classes are much needed.
I play 100% vanilla Skyrim. But it's because my pc is a potato ๐ I won't risk modding my games
Check what the queen drop gave you and what you can make ๐ค
My last Skyrim mod list was at least 250+
Hint ||look for table upgrades||
Yeah once I figured out the wabbajack thing I never went back to manual modding
Thanks guys!
Valheim seems good enough for me with just a few QoL mods. It's my first full playthrough though so
Certain mods can actually help you there, but you have to know what to look for in the first place.
yeah, I guess... but there are so many ๐คฆโโ๏ธ I haven't had the patience yet to look for Skyrim/Tes mods.
Yeah, the mods list usually grows into the hundreds rather fast. Skyrim is probably into the thousands now.
Valheim has a lot, but its been around for 5 years now as well.
Yeah, and Valheim is still not complete. So maybe the community will make more mods once the complete version is out. ๐ค
That is also my default, but for the build I have in mind it wonโt work quite so well
Because I kind of hope to stack fires on multiple levels
For sure. Thats part of why I haven't started to use mods yet.
I used to watch building videos for Valheim. I saw plenty of multi level fire places, etc... in them, back in the day. I imagine those videos are still up, and hopefully much newer videos.
so I can build the newest ship (after Queen) - wouldn't it be smarter to sail south with a quicker boat first, before building Drakkar?
unless you want to practice, get a feel for it
Find a place to set up a final portal and mini base, prior to even sailing into Ashlands. Then go from there.
That way, if you get wiped upon landing, you have a some what close location to try from again.
since my last one was no map no portal it was multiple boat trips to setup the staging base.
Are the iron cooking racks actually worth it? In my experience you can get more pieces of meat in the same area with the regular cooking racks
Unless Iโm doing something wrong with the iron cooking racks
maybe you can ๐คทโโ๏ธ maybe not
You can't cook all meats on the wood racks anymore. Not even serpent.
need it for giant meat though
so... anything specific that is worth taking with me to Ashlands? Other than workbench, chest and portal materials? Some metal perhaps?
Ah well I havenโt gotten to that yet, then ๐
Not like it was for Mistlands. Just be ready to set up a base to fight off armies with.
Armies that can destroy even ||
raised earth walls||.
So, I haven't really made new Mistlands weapons other than Demolisher and Spinesnap. I still use Blackiron Atgeir, Frostner and Carapace Shield. Any tips on which type of weapon could be useful in Ashlands?
For DPS it seems to be silver sword and Mistwalker.
I use frostner + carapace buckler, and flametal mace
Well, that mace can take a while to be able to make.
stone cutter matts.
i'm normally not a very big atgeir advocate, but i'm sure you could do fine with the halm.. himmlnaf...himminafl*
Yeah, why they have not made the lightning atgeir in Mistlands kind of baffles me.
gesundheit
thanks - what about copper, bronze, iron or black metal? Is setting up base down there even worth it?
Not that full of a base. For most thing s I just portal home.
I wouldn't worry about it on your first foray.
when i play with portals, i don't build down there. i only build 'bunkers' to protect my main portals
even on no-map, no-portal I barely built a base.
2 iron for stonecutter for stone portal
I used atgeir a lot - but i still use black iron one. Is Himminafl useful in AL?
Yeah, I just build a tough base to keep what little there that I do keep in Ashlands safe. Primarily a portal and rested buff recovery area.
short answer is yea it's still good
the black iron one is nice but when you face something that resists it, it cuts the dmg by a lot. the himminafl does a good amount of lightning dmg, which counts for staggering.
Awesome, I will make it then
Atgeir is pierce?
yep..! it kind of works the way i expected spears to
i thought spears would be long range, 2 handed weapons
Just making sure I was remembering correctly. I don't want to reduce his pain and suffering too much.
it's a pole arm. so it should be both pierce and slash depending on the move
Spears are a pole arm.
I typically use an axe/mace myself though I do want to try out a sword I forged. Also: hi!
What are the ones they used for boar hunting called?
(the only thing i dont like about the atgier is how the spin attack is animated...
the animation is fine, but i dont like that the character spins around, i wish it spun his atgeir around him instead..)
I've never gotten used to the Atgeir. I tried, for many hours. Its just too odd for me.
i tried to use it as a spear and it didnt work great for me. but using the secondary attack twice is really powerful. because stagger+big hit. it just costs a lot of stamina, so it plays a bit different. i have to wait to be almost full stam to throw the combo.
i thought it worked great on a mage build, as 'sidearm'
i just thought about a possible solution to balance magic...!
make it use stamina along the eitr when attacking...?!
Secondary attacks only multiply damage, they donโt change the types
materials for the stone cutter could be helpful...
hes saying it should
Is there any chance weโre going to be able to dig underground properly in the future you think?
Like with tunnels and such? Donโt think so ๐ค
i like to dig under the stones in mistlands, and sometimes the spires in plains.
its no minecraft, but it can be fun
mmm i wonder if i could make a base in ashlands like that..
i dont want to cheese it, but i assume i could dig under a putrid hole and have a nearly indestructible base. but maybe not. idk how deep they go.
my first landing in ashlands was with atgier and i found the thing mostly useless, charred resist pierce and they stagger for so short a time the spin move is pretty pointless. itll help against asksvins, but id say krom or mistwalker against most things
