they acknowledged the issue half a year ago, of something that it takes a random mod some hours to fix
its just silly
Fortunately IG gets to decide how to do their business, not a bunch of people on the internet who have no clue on how to run any business, let alone develop games. If I am wrong, show your credentials.
Yeah, you're just considering PC players and there's so much testing that goes into these things to ensure things like memory leaks don't occur, etc.
If you're comparing mods to what developers do for their games, you're off the rails.
mods have a lot less testing and bug fixing then full updates mods also normally only come with 1 or 2 things not a full biomes
sure...?
I did because I was curious at the average rate of update release, this isn't the first time I've encountered people saying updates take forever, so I was curious myself.

I'm afraid of using the abyssal spear I crafted on a Wild Boar ★... What if my pig dies? 😭 🫳 💀 Have anyone tried using the spear in one of those?
The harpoon? Using it once or twice on the 2 stars won't kill them.
Two stars? But mine has only 1 star...
The 2 stars are even rarer, but they exist.
Pretty sure you can hit a 1 star at least once without killing them.
I take it your making one of those elevated "factory" farms? If not, its best to just get them aggroed on you and have them chase you to where you want them.
Fishing off of swamps is my new favorite. Getting at least 2 fish out of every catch is much nicer.
Meaning two pieces.
Only negative is the time taken to clear the coast of leeches, etc... to make the fishing somewhat safe to do.
Elevated? I'm planning of an enclosed boar pen, or an underground one, to protect them from aerial threats. 🤔
I trapped it in a hole, but I need to move it into my fort, and it’s reckless as a mule.
someone give me the strength and sanity to take a save past the mountains biome
I've been entirely unable to go any further due to instant burnout
the soul crushing dread of trying to get the eggs to moder just instantly makes me wanna stop
Yes and no. I thoroughly enjoy the planning and contemplation of importance losing static inventory slots
I've fought 3 moders, and within 200ms of the shrine there have been eggs
Idk if I was lucky, but
OK, then, When you have your enclosed boar house done, just let it chase you inside it, and close it in.
Build a small base in the meadows next to a shrine talking about them, they constantly spawn. Build a pen and lead them in
Build it big enough to run a circle and close the gate
I had to sail to another mountain biome to get another egg. I’m ngl it might be rough
eggs respawn in case you didnt know
see my other comment, it takes a while but they respawn, if you're not in a hurry you only need one egg nearby
i had no idea! how long does it take?
8 real life hours sadly (480 minutes)
to me that doesn't matter, you can literally just put down a workbench and a chest near the nest, loot the egg, pop it in, and the timer starts haha
why does the chest matter or the bench]
Chest for storing the egg inside or workbench for creating spawn proof area which prevents items despawning inside the radius.
You can ask some lads in #valheim-help for help
Fun fact: I only knew about this on my second playthrough
Breaking down mistland bridges is fun. All the black marble goes first then the iron gates in one go. Got about 2 and a half stacks of iron (still not enough)
Hey 👋
I agree, even though its not black marble for me, at the moment its like copper and finewood, but been working for 14h now
Darn jobs keeping us from our viking jobs
hi I'm new to this chat, but I play the game for many years now, I'm looking for a group to play with, anyone recruiting? I'm Portuguese by the way if there are any portuguese groups, either way english works just fine as well 🙂
There is https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510 where you can search for people to play with. 👍
yo i have just started valhiem any one tryna play together ?
Look directly above your post
I’m just curious but do devs expect players to carry multiple weapon types to fight enemies who have different resistances? I’m just curious since I’ve never bothered since it always seemed difficult to remember each resistance
I carry multiple weapon types just for various scenarios, though I usually limit it to one melee and one ranged (and one axe, one pick, a hoe…)
You start getting a feel for it after a while
I carry a sword/buckler, a bow, a sledgehammer and a build hammer. Anything else I carry depends on what I’m doing.
And what biome
is it doable to fight queen melee? or would magic be more effective, with the drawback of needing to be adhd bound in the arena?
Both styles work, but I prefer melee personally.
It is doable. Ive seen someone defeat queen with Krom only
Yes, fair warning it is incredibly hard
The demolisher is a nice backup
When adds arrive
not the first time it’ll take me 8 straight hours to beat a boss.
Ah good luck
How many hours would it take to play through the game, but not like speedrunning it
As many as you want
The game is super flexible and allows you to linger or press on at your own speed
yeah fair
I haven't played since they added the mistland boss, so I am just wondering if I restart
i need new german player with zero knowledge
Took me about 1000 in-game days that's nice and easy while farming and building and sailing. You probably sleep for first 300 days or so and then no sleep, so... 🧮 455 hrs
Just dont sleep at all
I just killed 2 normal bears in the span of 4 minutes and got a bear trophy from both of them
Praise RNGesus!
I swear twitchers are the most cowardly creature in the game
They get hit one they run away
And then they return to harrass you with a skull
This angers me. I mean, oh awesome!
It took me 100 hours, personally. I was playing with a friend and we were both blind to it
I cant find a 2 star asksvin for the life of me, any advice?
They are only out at night time, like wolves, plus about as rare as 2 star wolves. So... persistence? Luck?
yea... ashlands at night is like zero visibility and getting jumped every corner isnt helping me kek. but I guess I'll have to persist, if still no luck I'll just ask the server if they have any spare 2 star asksvin eggs
Luck and get ready to not die
My heart was beating so hard when I first found one lmao
Ive noticed that Mountains are in the Deep North in current generation
What do you all think? Will IG keep it that way or make it all Deep North?
I just hope they dont make it ashlands 2.0
they will probably have different generation for deep north
maybe giant ice glaciers like the spires and steeper mountains
Ashlands but slippery and white
Aint no way a charred twitcher spawn camped me on my portal 💀
ever got spawn camped by a morgen and a valkerie
It has been confirmed Deep North won't have as dense enemy spawn rate.
I think so too but its amusing thinking that Deep North have normal Mountain peaks xD xD
Bloody amazing
It will have more peaceful moments but encounters might be harder IIRC.
so your telling me I wont get jumped by 2 sea worms and an army of never ending enemies the moment I land? fck it I will live there the moment it comes out
Maybe youll find a little hut and then get abducted into a dungeon
I might live there every night due to ||aurora borealis||.
Ever got spawn camped by a swarm of 2** warriors?
Unlucky with Mysterious location spawner?
Yep
First playthrough
Had to throw a swarm of meteors at it
man asksvids really saved the ashlands experience for me(overpopulated them to the extreme balanced out the enemy spawn rate)
Hmm, we have just gotten into Ashlands last time we played with my group, one of them has been dedicated mage since it became available. They have survived quite well with the help of bubble shielded skeletts, other has been melee atgeir/1h axe user.
bubble shield my beloved
Looking forward for how they will like the Ashlands staves, they already crafted Fracturing staff and has been using it a lot.
Ok were back in business
im using fracturing too and havent tried the flame one yet
Made exploration easier aswell
Funnily enough asksvins arent considered as "heavy"
honestly aside from finding fortresses Im not sure what else im supposed to do
So you can leash another one so you got a backup incase the other one dies
what does 'heavy' mean
When using the abysal harpoon you can drag creatures
I've categorise them into my own calling, light and heavy
light like most creatures your stamina wont drain as much
Anyone feel like giving me a hand killing the plains boss ngl been stuck for a solid couple hours just giving him a go
I see that makes sense
heavy such as trolls, golems, and possibly morgen will drain your stamina
the thing is asksvin is considered a "light"
I just used bonfire
Despite looking quite big
well I guess that might be too cheesy
meanwhile ashlands being completely inconcievable to me bc i can't get past swamp
ahah, I dont like swamp either, but dayum does this game put alot of emphasis on Iron,
You'll know when you get there
if you get there in one peice
by "get past swamp" i mean "kill bonemass"
i am in full iron gear at this point and bro is still folding me
Poison resistance?
I cheesed all my bosses so I can't relate
sausages, black pudding, turnip stew and poison resist
popping a minor heal when i get below 50%
running iron buckler and mace
parrying inadvisable, bro still staggers me
ever tried running circles around him, most slow mobs are easy to deal with like that
i do have to stop circling him to deal with the adds, otherwise they become too overwhelming
the blobs in particular are what consistently poison me throughout the whole fight
If you're using the poison resistance mead (as you should) then you can ignore blobs
try raising the ground with a hoe and flattening it, then run circles and put camp fires on him
i usually use it a second or two after getting poisoned to conserve them
if the armor isnt doing much for you anyways, might as well get the root harnest headpeice for poison res
hello who can share modpack hard ?
Someone in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202934289898151966 might.
They won’t help once you’ve already been poisoned. They’re meant as a preventative measure, not an antidote
oh
that explains a lot
that knowledge instantly won me the fight, no joke
poison duration went from a triple life sentence to like 6 seconds
Bear in mind that that's the same with Fire resistance, but not with Frost resistance
resistances in general are overpowered tho
grab them whenever you need em
Ooof, must have been late night/morning
No it was just getting night
I just got back to my base after doing charred fortress runs
I have successfully tamed 2 star Asksvin in 4 different worlds.
That's 4 more worlds than me
First time took 15ish nights to get one, second time took at the start of the 2nd night, third time was lucky find after raiding a fortress and quickly managed to dig hole next to that fortress and lured it there just in time, fourth time took maybe 3-4ish nights.
I’m new to the game , what’s the best way to progress fast?
time to restock and start huntin
Listen to the bird advices.
By playing the game
Arnt you a smart guy
what's the goal ? to complete it asap ?
pay someone else to speedrun it for you
what do i do with all the resin sitting around my house
i think most people have giant chests full of resin. or if you get an obliterator you can turn it to coal
early game: fire arrows
It depends on where you are in the game progression. The ideas above are fine for early game. You can make torches/sconces once you have some metal or you can use it for ||ooze bombs|| once you're in the third biome.
should i waste my time building a castle or something similar
If you enjoy it, it’s not a waste of time
yes
worth
having a well protected base helps a lot during raids
and trying to mix both defense and style truly is a challenge and I love that
It just takes practice
should i find an actually level place to build my base
My first house was so bad
It’s nice if you can find it. If not, you have a hoe!
can i get a mod or admin in chat please
im having a issue with one of the people in vc chats
when deep north is coming ? 🙁
When it's ready. Most are optimistic for this year some time.
try sending a DM to @dusky pivot
lol
Is there no spawn limit to greydwarf nest?
Can they just spawn infinitely unlike surtling geysers?
They can only spawn 3 at a time, but so long as the best remains you can farm them indefinitely
I found one use for the blob grenades
For farms
I havent actually tried it but I thought about it
No I said I’m new , not that I want it speedran , I asked how do I progress as I’ve just got to copper are you brain dead
What a lovely, polite newcomer.
Sure got a lot of attitude for being new. Play the game, that's how. Or maybe learn how to communicate properly.

this is just the beginning
I don't think I can ever go back to playing with a map, and not hardcore
I tried no map and I'm pretty sure I can't make it from one side of my village to the other without a map -_- Directional insanity, I has it.
It took a few hours, and getting lost multiple times to figure out the yggdrasil. I also use noteable terrain to remember things
But main goal is play on the shore, and move in while pathing
I tried that and still got lost repeatedly 😅 I never even made a boat!
Following the shoreline is very powerful
Especially in mistlands
Wisp torches may be more useful in mistlands but I was progressing mistlands before finding yag
Unless you hear gjall, then you should follow the sound for it will bring you joy
is the silver shield better for parrying than the iron buckler
a lvl 2 silver shield is about the same as a max iron buckler, so yes. Eventually.
Barely yes. Not a noticeable difference imo
I just read an article in spanish praising Valheim, and mentioning v1.0 and Playstation port could be released at any time this year. The anticipation!
the anticipation is only building more and more since the devs have been silent. Im so excited for dn
It might sound silly, but the things I'm waiting for the most are the Steam achievements, the cards, and hopefully a legendary profile theme, those who cost 10,000 Shop Pts.
🫳 💰
With the achievements I'll finally submerge into Immersive Mode. No map, no teleports.
I would gladly throw down that many points for a good looking pfp banner im ngl
It looks better too
This sounds like a fire plan lmao
are oak trees the best trees to get wood
Finewood
are beeches better for normal
Yes, also very easy to chop and cause a chainreaction
how rude my twig threw a rock at me
I felt sad to see twig is very weak to silver sword damage
I killed it 😭 👌
But rebuilt it afterwards 🫂
Oh, and if you build the Obliterator, remember it has a lever you need to use. I didn't until see it until +100 days later 😂 💀
I love this game, but I have a hard time handling more than one form of challenge, XD
For instance, right now I’m focusing on getting better at Combat, so I’m leaving that alone.
Resource gathering and portal restrictions are eased though.
Next, I might do a run where Combat is trivialized, but Resource Gathering is crippled and I can’t use Portals!
Has anyone ever wondered why we find Cloudberries in the Field biome, despite them growing in peatlands and marshes (Swamps) in the real world?
Also, it would be nice if blueberries and raspberries were as clustered together as cloudberries. It's easier to stockpile the Plains-tier berry than the Dark Forest-tier berry.
Because the Developers aren’t all that obsessive about perfect accuracy, probably.
Boo! It's our most holy of berries! 😭
||I had to use a raspberry, cos the cloudberry didn't get an emoji||
I really wish we could plant berry bushes. 🙁
The realm of Valheim isn't Earth, so I don't think it matters much what grows where. They could have just invented fictional berries if they wanted to.
Ooh, I wonder what the next fruit might be, then.
Though, since the next biome is the Actic I guess it would just be a snowball.
I thought I’d heard that was something they’d already decided against?
I would like some sort of fruit tree 🤔
I don’t if anything is necessarily set in stone, but it’s a pretty common topic yeah. Personally I think if done right, a nice balance could be found.
Maybe player-planted berry bushes could have a doubled replenish timer…
I’d settle for tripled!
Just try a mod out that does it.
I play on Steamdeck… Modding would be a nightmare.
Plant everything mod has plantable berries, yeah. They’re amazing tools for decorative landscaping.
Modding isn’t possible for console players as well, so that’s something to consider.
Terraria has TModder…
…VModder?
oo
Cloudberries seems to be a nick name for several real berries, even a variety found in high hills/low mountain areas. Its even a nickname for a jar of berry jam I found in my cupboard.
Mod
If you read the next few messages, you’d see that Steamdeck makes Modding very difficult.
I see, that is unfortunate.
And also not possible for consoles 🙁
Time to get MSI Claw 8 AI+ ?
Here's an idea. Log in on pc with mod. Plant bunch of bushes. Save. Log out. Log in on the deck .... profit 📈
Having to do convoluted workarounds kinda impacts the fun of the game
I’d rather things were possible natively, personally.
Have you discovered chain portal farming?
Yeah, of course. I’m just saying, if it’s possible to have copious amounts of berries anyway, why not let us farm them, with effort?
Oh, because they're an excellent reason to return to previous biomes and forage.
Okay, but… do we need a reason to backtrack?
Like, why do they want us to, exactly?
heh, swamp and Iron hehe
Absolutely, biomes shouldn't just become useless and irrelevant once we progress.
I seem to recall devs saying that is why they won't let us plant the berries, thistle and mushrooms. To get us to explore.
corewood is enough reason for me to go to DF and Iron for swamp, Tar in the plains, berries is not any of the reasons
Alright, but I’d rather their relevance stay because of new recipes, instead of saying, ‘Hey! Go refill your stash of these!’
You don't use enough meads then 👀
I live off of the blood bubble
We only need to refill them for a finite period of the game, not the entire play through.
Not using Ratatosk?
Give us Alloys, or constructions that need old metals!
Give us new food recipes that need Bear Meat combined with later meats!
Give us more Surtling Core uses! If the forge and charcoal furnace need them, why not other later constructs?
Ratatosk is very tempting indeed but im lazy
But, there's recipes that stay relevant, Tasty Mead, Ratatosk Mead, Health Mead, etc.
yeah yeah, put iron to rest already
Iron is annoying, yes.
Iron is needed across several biomes, even if not for building.
for health meads wouldnt re-raiding infested mines be better for higher lvl mead instead of low lvl one
you are literally describing existing mods ... if every mod was in vanilla ...
Sure, but far more dangerous
I do find it more fun than running around the whole map
Just because a mod does it, doesn’t mean vanilla shouldn’t.
Consoles can’t mod, remember?
anyone got good tips for finding silver veins
You don't need to, just mark large patches, come back later to setup a portal chain farm, portal to one farm, gather 10+, travel to next farm, and so on until the final portal takes you home.
Can consoles use dev commands?
the wishbone?
run around mountains
- stagbreaker, great ore finding combo
Stagbreaker takes twice as long in my experience.
honestly... silver is... meh
no no you get the wishbone for general area and the stagbreaker for pinpoint
good specifically for undead enemies but tapers like other metals
I’m always weirded out by games placing Silver and Gold above Iron, tier-wise
The audio is pretty clear for me, I've never needed it.
should i go to the top of the mountain or should i stay in the middle regions
You can pin point with wishbone. thats why the pulse increases.
its usually anywhere on the mountain, similar to copper in black forest
honestly, I was making random pittraps in the mountains for wolfs and I keep hitting silver viens, they are so easy to find for some reason
Above when you find obsidian. Its never lower than obsidian.
higher atomic mass .. duh doi
to add to that, if golems spawn expect silver in that area
But the silver veins are easier to dig out and detach entirely instead of mining the entire structure
oh similarily, you can find mud clumps for scrap iron with the wishbone on regular swamp land too.
I recommend digging around them atleast once so you know what they look like, they shaped kinda wierd
Yeah, kind of like a Y.
i fell off the side of the mountain, fell about halfway from the top and only took 100 damage
is fall damage capped or something
Yes, at 100
I think it's tapered
good to know
I always hear certain phrases in Ryan George’s voice.
This is one of them.
I've been playing valheim for a couple years, with several playthroughs, and I think I had never seen an iron gate inside a sunken crypt
I just found one

I thought I could break it to have free iron. It didn't drop any iron u.u betrayals
Yeah, I've never gotten one from them either.
Does anyone have a world they are starting that i can join? Im looking for a group of people to play the game with. all my buddies quit mid way and never want to finish
Everytime this character is carrying iron at night, Odin appears 😂👀
I did a playthrough on this game when it first game out, before the mistlands and everything afterwards. Has the lag issue been fixed when playing as a group in a boss fight? I'd like to get back into the game and do a fresh run to experience all the new content, and it would be nice to play with other people, but can the game support it?
from what ive seen yes very much so
They have addressed pretty much all the known issues over the years. Any lag you have on a server now is probably because of the server, or someone has a lower end system in the group.
Hello dears , did i do something dumb or is the following valid ? Okay so i had played valheim when it launched and reached iron and defeated the bone blob boss got the wolf cape and thats all i remember however recently i wanted to play it with my friend so i log on and i remember absolutely nothing about this game 🥲 so i decided to repeat it but now its harder than i remember and way more stuff , and now played through 12hrs and im stuck on the tree boss since he is summoning 1star trolls that one shot me
A fair amount has been added. There are now 2 more biomes and they are working on the final biome and wrapping up Valheim.
Plus some new creatures across several biomes.
As for the troll, those are not summoned. Thats just a random spawn.
As for difficulty, if you left it on standard in the new world modifiers, its about the same as it has ever been.
Oh yeah i saw patch notes that show a new fire biome and do u have any idea when that update would come?
Ohh i see so the 2 1star trolls are there already and the tree boss calls to them?
Yep same modifiers just created a new world and a new character
Will try to lure the troll and kill it then proceed with the boss , thanks bro
Ashlands has been added in late Spring/early Summer in 2024.
anyone having problems this morning with connection issues in party play?
More like the noise of combat draws them.
No
alright thanks bros
Walking and running makes noise aswell
Ashlands is like the only biome were I fully take advantage of sneaking
Especially on your first landing
You do not wanna mess with a morgen or valkyrie pre-ashlands
Geysers are amazing to kill Abominations 👌🔥
Free even
Just try not to get hit lol
I had never killed one in a geyser. but today one appeared as I was preparing the geyser farm and I was like 🤔🤔🤔 "I wonder how fast it will die"
yes XD
but they die so fast that i think they couldn't actually kill me. and even if I fail a dodge, one hit doesn't kill me,
I think the body slam attack of the abomination can potentially one shot a player with post-blackforest gear
The poison is nasty
I see 🤔 I am currently wearing the full Iron armour upgraded to lvl3
Wouldnt be surprised if it could, but i still like that one the most when killing abominations since its quite telegraphed/easy to roll or parry 🙂
Once you get your hands on a iron buckler the swamps is practically free
Yep 😄
Banded shield looks better though
I never used buckler or tower shield. only normal shield. 🤔
Is there a good build for each shield?
I guess if I played with more people, some people could be more tanks and others damage, but playing alone I always feel like I need a more balanced or standard build
If you're good at consistently parrying a buckler is strongest, especially now that the stamina cost means there's zero punishment for parrying instead of blocking
but the banded shield still parries well enough so I'm ok with using it
Hi
And looks better 😛
NVM I see you said that already
I need the game so bad on ps5🥲
Ello, do we have any idea when update comes out or there no info ab it yet?
No idea, no timeline for the update has been announced yet.
thank you! Hope it comes this year 😄
So, I never figured out the answer to this:
What happens if a Raid occurs at your base, but the entire radius is spawn proofed?
The raid will start and end normally, just with no enemies spawning
Cheers
Gyser are good but I like portable method using the bonfire, as it takes 1 surtling core and 5x if each wood type, kills fast actually
but then theres nothing to fight

or just turn raids off and make a neat looking base
I live in the Plains, if I wish to fight, I simply walk outside of the wall.
I like overcoming puzzles and problems though.
I like creating a solution rather than turning off the puzzle.
(Except in the case of Portal Items; I've only so much time in a day and only so much mental energy, so I'd rather not spend 70% of my playtime ferrying metals on a Longship)
Best invincible wall is to use raise terrain with the HOE, requires stone but this very easy to obtain
that’s cool too, if you make an actual destructible wall, maybe a death funnel things can come in. I just cringe at the invincible terrain walls.
But that's boring.
I'd rather make something that looks good, but is somewhat easily repaired.
Like pallisades, whether with stake walls, or what's available upon reaching the Mistlands.
Yeah, your world, your choice. Just giving tips
I appreciate it, simply returning dialogue
I've a wall idea in mind; creating a perimeter of stone bricks, but leaving it 1 high, and then putting backwards facing stake walls on the front, and then forward facing stake walls on top to create a layered pallisade sorta look.
Well, if you like beatification, the earliest defense you can craft is the marble walls. Stronger than stone and it's great looking. Just goto viaducts and destroy them you can get 3-4 stacks of marble easily, use portal to transfer
i just grab my helmet run out and fight normally, but my favorite early defense if im playing hard or worse is a narrow choke with stakes and beehives lol, it’s enough to slow and soften and buy time if i’m caught unprepared, and then im waiting with my hatchet when they get to me
Yeeaahh, but I'm living in the Plains and would like to have a good ol' big wall as insurance on the chance a Lox becomes spooked and decides to come a' stompin'.
I want time to simply react and kill a threat to the structural integrity of my buildings since I really like to make them look good.
heh, plains bases are scary cuz skeetos too, gotta be always aware of your tummy. well ive never had problems with just normal stone walls against things. ive had a few plains bases and lox dont kill stone walls that fast you can just repair from inside
iirc stone and b marble have the same durability
With the exception of grausten
B marble on the other hand has immunity to certain elements
Black marble is resistant to elemental damage, greatest example is eitr, can be useful when you got specific raids
Immune to frost, fire, poison, spirit etc etc so better for majority of raids
I just killed the elder with bear head and bear necklace and troll trousers lv3 and a maxed fine bow , so now I ditch the bear armour for Iron or what to unlock first when I get some Iron?
Depending on your play style, I used bear armor and claws all the way until silver age. I used iron for silver weapon like the silver sword, got forge/kitchen upgrades and the iron pickaxe
Made sure to craft a fenring armor set for Yagluth
First thing to unlock is the iron pickaxe for silver
okay brother so iron pick max out the bear armour and what to use in order to fight bonemass?
I skip the first 3 bosses and go straight for moder, from there I continue the bosses up until fader
I have over 2k playing hours, just I play this way faster / deeper challenges.
Sometimes I'll establish a mistlands base first once I get a karve to be closer to Ashland's
I used to raid mountains for iron because of the doors, now I just farm mistlands Viaducts, much more productive and challenging
is the Iron yield good?
No sadly
any strat that helps me find Iron is always welcome
Yes from large viaducts you can get 2-3 stacks
whats viaducts btw
all I know ancient armor
The swamps and mistlands are your best bet
Make sure to build wood floors to capture all drops
You can get iron from the doors in the frost caves but not worth it
Viaducts are what you guys know as bridges in the mistlands
just 1 piece
ohhh Ive seen those before
I just call em bridges because... its literally is a bridge
all I thought was "wow, black marble, its kinda sht"
Viaducts spawn along the island area along costs, easy to obtain
didn't know it had Iron in them
Yep, you can also get copper ore from them too
so stone cutter on hand to dismantle works on them?
Its much easier when you get to the ashlands
You'll have a structure which will make it 100x faster
to gather back to your base
battering ram?
oh, I got that before the mistlands
When you first play, go straight for the bronze axe, then get karve, go straight to mistlands, use bronze axe to destroy the first viaduct, the iron bars will unlock the stonecutter for easy deconstruct for the rest of the viaducts
I rushed mistlands to get krom lol
I was iron age
lol I rushed ashlands to get stone portals
Nothing wrong with that either
spire hopping and logging in and logging out to reset heat, find putrid pit pray for cores and get out
Grausten...
Yeah that works too
Dont forget grausten
10/10, never again. I'll just change world modifiers next time
spires at the very edges of the biomes are usually safe enough to farm
I always play with the fire modifier because this is the fastest way to get coal, just build wood piles and use HOE or pickaxe to slightly modify yhe terrain so a campfire goes under it, you can turn 10+ piles of wood into several stacks of coal in less effort
that works? I've always used fire arrows, campfire looks more consistent
Yes campfire is the easiest solution, because you can repair campfire as it gets damaged to burn them all
can you please like skim what I should do if you dont mind? in order to get to silver without fighting , and exuse my ignorance what is grausten and viaducts
I wonder if I can just set up a dedicated wood burner with Iron floors inbetween the wood and maybe a hearth
silver without fighting? stagbreaker, it does take a long time to find some though, but the amount is usually big enough for an upgrade
Grausten us like stone but Ashland's biome, it's more durable 1000 vs 3000 durability
Im still a bit sad that our gausten structures dont look as good as the randomly generated gaustens structures in ashlands
Yes, use stagbreaker, also silver likes to spawn near log cabins, and eggs. It requires a higher altitude. Sometimes you can get lucky to find silver sticking out of the terrain
I fell off a mountain once and broke my knees on a silver vien just jutting out the edges
When dealing with silver, make sure to use a different cart for each silver veins, then throw the cart off the mountain, best to find a large mountain establish a base solely for silver production for wolf/silver armor
I have a tip for golems, dont fight them, shove them in a hole and cover it with floors, that way they dont respawn
and when enemies get on top of them they aggro to the golem and ignore you, they just stand on top of it since they dont have attacks that can break floors nor can they see the golem to initiate attacks
Yep, I use the harpoon in small holes, use golems for defense
heh, the real killers are the wolves, workbench cheese them for the best results
I also round up a lot of golems that I can find and kite them to goblin settlements, sometimes you can find 3 golems in one mountain if it's big enough, if that same island has a goblin village
I've heard of using tar pits but golems for goblin camps is a first
Tar pits are good too
eheh I hate growths with passion
so like how hard is queen?
Yes they are nasty
as a cheeser of bosses, pretty cheesable
It's not hard if you range her. But if you want a challenge you can burn her with bonfires lol
ok cool. so bows? or do i need spells too
Krom and mistwalker can work well
Yeah just craft a bunch of fire arrows as she's weak toward that
okay so My main objective now is to make a carve go to the mistlands and find the viaducts breakthem get Iron and go back to base? or setup base in mistlands ? make the iron pick and I made the stagbreaker btw just now and then head to mountains ? also what to expect in the mistalnds what will kill me and what to avoid
if there was once trick I wish I new before my queen fight it was that I coult put wisp torches all over the place
Fire arrows are too weak by that point
Honestly that's the only time I use fire arrows is on the moder
Obsidian is better
Oh you meant queen, not moder my bad
For queen, I use etir, kite her around with fire staff
ahh ok
Make sure to have feather cape Incase you need to jump far off the stairs for kitng, I basically have her go back and forth from each stair case
bright materials for wisp torches, it helps alot with visibility, trust
reminds me I need to hatch a ton of asksvin in the queen lair, ez meat farm
Oh, that could work if you want to cheese it
he would have to go to ashlands first thought lol
ashlands is.... quite the experience
the hard part about queen is her summons. best way to beat her is with as many bile bombs as you can craft. she resists pierce so if you have the timing and good health food for mistakes the best dps is dodge and sword secondary. or seriously just 3 health food and blackmetal tower shield blocks everything she does. if you don’t have melee the fight is gonna take a long long time.
she resists pierce? the brilliant google says use needle arrows.
might be the google ai response, last time it told me to find a dvgr base to make a battering ram
Yes she's resistance to pierce
this is why nobody should ever trust anything they see in a google search or AI search.
tis why im asking here 😉
No need for battering ram, use a cart reverse it and back out up and forth to destroy anything you want without the need if dealing with aggro. Destroy the ward first
i think honestly the cheesiest way to cheese her is same as all bosses, eat 3 health foods and hold block.
Yes, if you prefer the melee style
or hold a hammer and cheese her by the entrance
why even play the game
if i left eggs in a dungeons with campfire will they grow on there own ?
or do i have to be near them
They will grow on their own. You’ll need to be nearby for breeding though.
if I logout while in a boat will I drown when I log back on or everything stays the same ( I stay in the boat)?
You will stay on the boat
deal thanks, I made a karve ( defeated the elder an hr ago ) and I am sailing for the mistlands idk if its a death call or not and I took with me resources to make a portal to tp back to my base
even if you don't, they can't move without players on them
Question about cheats, if I start a new character and a new world and activate cheats in it, will it only activate the cheats for only that world?
Finally caught back up to where I was before I died, and further. About to enter the bronze age on this no map hardcore run, and luckily my cart track is nice and short to a TRIPLE spawn of copper.
Realistically, how much sap am I going to need to get?
Google says about 40+ for initial upgrades
So, 406 (and counting) is a bit overkill
Would have been funny if they continue moving
jumping off is a great way of stopping a boat
Thats if you want to upgrade stuff to max level.
Each root can harvest about 40 before it goes dry
Sap extractors generate 1 sap every 65 seconds, for 40, thats 43 minutes of in game time.
So x10 is about 7 hours, but you will shorten that if you have more extractors
After playing through Ashlands, I'm glad that Deep North will be a lot calmer, I think the constant barrage of enemies in Ashlands is a bit too much
is it worth getting needle arrows for the mountain
I think obsidian arrows work just fine.
If you want to take the risk of dealing with a higher level foe, go ahead. But as said, obsidian arrows work just as fine. Even wooden arrows do.
Arrows are trivial, it's a bow skill. You can kill drakes with wooden arrows. Use arrows that you have in abundance.
I usually keep flint arrows well into plains/mistlands just because I find so many in the black forest
Draugr bow with poison arrows for drakes
Some people like cheese
Might as well use obsidian, as the poison doesn't stack.
So instead of poison arrows, might as well use fire arrows, as that does stack. And you're doing two effects at the same time.
Have we gotten any dev opinions on touching up on Spear and Sledgehammer movesets? For spears to act more like spears in melee and Sledgehammers getting a simpler combo with the big downsmash on special.
I assume if they had in mind to change that, they'd been doing that with the CtA update.
Unless it would mean they had to do a rebuild of the entire engine, which would make things more complicated as they are now.
yeah with the cta update already out and the deep north update and the 1.0 coming (hoepfully) soon, you can assume the combat system will stay like that seemingly forever
I did a whole 6 minute trek to an infested mine and got swarmed by about 8 seekers. Died ☹️
I hope you had a portal up at the entrance?
Otherwise the body recovery might become a tedious journey.
Nope lol I didnt even get close to the entrance before I got attacked
In that case I hope you have a portal close to your entry point, so that journey is reduced to 6 minutes.
My brother managed to set one down not far from it so ive got the stuff back. Went back through to prep for the attack on the hateful eight
I farmed enough for a full stack, that should do. I got lucky with guck trees spawning a lot near each other in my swamp
I think they asked about the sap from yggdrasil roots, not guck.
Guck isn’t used for much is it? Or maybe I just don’t use the recipes it’s used for
Think I use it for root armor but that’s it for me
I’m guessing most use it for fang tho yeah
Root Amor uses guck? I know we get plenty of it from Abominations.
Actually just checked, it doesn’t
I feel like I use guck for like one thing, but not sure what
I think its just Fang, iron torches, and banners.
Did they make it easier to kill deer with the first bow? I dont remember being able to kill them in 1 shot before
Not complaining about it, its actually very nice 😄
Also green fireworks.
When they are not alerted (red ! mark) they take backstab damage from your shots/attacks.
But is that somewhat recent? I THINK I remember last time I started over, I was always unable to 1 hit them even when they werent alerted
Then again, I play a lot of survival games so I might fix some up
Backstab mechanic has always been there.
Ah, I may be fixing some games up then hehe
what level of bow would i need to 2 shot a drake
Hi All. I havent played in a few years. Have there been any QoL updates in terms of inventory/container management?
Nope.
Lol
not very high, i almost 1-shot them with a spear that's like ~50-60 damage
Thanks for the heads up! 😭
spears do exist dont they
They do.
yup. i actualy go into mountains with 2 spears cuz i can kill a drake in 1 pass by quickly throwign 2 spaers
I'd hate trying to do spear recovery in the mountains.
i've been spearing since launch i dont really miss anymore
Practice does make perfect, or at least get you closer to perfection.
are mountains normally just steep cliffs or are there sometimes flat regions on them
i wouldnt call them flat, but they're not just sheer walls once you're up there
also what the heck? i just mined a flamemetal spire completely bare and it never sank. was there a ninja change i missed?
Bro I thought it was just me, I watched a how to farm flametal tutorial and was practicing in creative and non of them sank
how do i know what height im at on a mountain
Well, there is only one mark I know which everyone calls the obsidian hieght
Slightly above that is the silver spawning hieght
But if you want more accuracy, mods. I dont know if there are console commands for hieght coordinates
does bare fisted ever get strong enough to be... maybe not viable, but fun?
yes
Parry is strong with fist if i remwmber right
you mean fist weapons?? fists start out hella OP with bear claws, and vile claws are op too, if anything they fall off slilghtly
Pair it up with the blood bubble to bypass any armor restriction to parrying and it should work?
I havent played in a long time. I was thinking just bare fisted fighting. I didnt know fist weapons was a thing
ho boy are you in for a treat then
i just started playing again, punched something, and saw a fist skill up
The last time i played, mistlands were flat empty
wow. then it's a whole new world for you. dont watch any youtubes just be surprised!
any idea how can i join a fresh server? i have not play in over 2 years
thats the plan! thanks
how can i join some fresh active server? I looked in lfg and nothing there seemed to espond to me
Only #1024264966712340510
yeah, no one is answering
How long you been trying? They can take hours.
Seems like most, if not all servers are like mine was when I ran one. A one person show. We eat, sleep, etc... so can take a long time to respond to inquiries.
Do mobs attack crops?
Made a mistlands farm, don't want seekers flying in to kill it all
Seekers won’t start flying if they haven’t already seen something to attack
Perfect, thanks
Not even killed yagluth yet and we've got Jotun puffs and Magecap being farmed
hello, are there any plans about inventory space in the next update? Me and probably many other people would love more slots or special slots for armor food trinkets and megingjord
this game just trolled me
i thought i found a silver vein but it was just a skeleton
carry weight is alright but slots limit players alot, especially in the late game with so much stuff in the inventory
Me entering Ashlands for the 5th time: "I don't know why I or anyone else thinks this biome is that hard."
(Morgen spawns 10 meters from a 2nd morgen as a Valkyrie aggros next to the starrerd warriors and asksvin)
Ah. Right. Now I remember.
is the frostner good
Yes
Slows enemies, good damage. Ive heatd its a good choice in ashlands too because enemies there dont like frost
depends, with the new adrenaline system fast weapons benefit more from it
i like frostner, kinda satisfying to me. bonk things 🙂 i dont care for porcupine as much
mistwalker on top
i dont like frostner cuz the knockback and slow makes it so hard to land more than 1 swing of the combo makes fights take forever
I prefer Porcupine, but Frostner is a good weapon. Probably more so for people who have not "mastered" combat in Valheim yet.
Even so, I still make it and use it. Just not as much as I use Porcupine.
Besides, I soon switch to the BM sword.
im tryin to get used to ember staff or w/e its called
Took a while for me.
whats a good way to get a bunch of gold and valuables
Of course, I have not used magic since that play through, so I'd probably have to learn all over again, if I were to give it another go.
nobrr i suppose that kinda depends on the progress you've made, like what zone u in?
Crypts, caves, random chests throughout the black forest, etc...
Dungeons. Sunken crypts have lots of valuables at the start.
Infested mines and fortresses in late game has even more gold.
The swamp crypts can get kind of crazy with loot.
Plus there are various locations you dig up.
Like the boat shaped stone formations in the meadows.
Meat piles inside frost caves can also yield gold or even silver necklaces.
Yep. Troll caves are also usually pretty good.
my friend that plays on this server with me isnt on... idk what i should farm while i wait lol. we havent attacked queen yet but we have her location unlocked
i think i just found the official world record for "saddest sunken crypt"
Except mushrooms. I think they had at least mushrooms. 😄
You can find them, rarely, with no piles. All 3 pathways blocked.
Used to be no big deal, but its been ages since I have seen a swamp with over 20 crypts. Doing good to find 10, now.
I wanted to throw a party when I found 18 the other day.
apparently in the seed "WorstSeed" theres a swamp with 35 crypts
is it dumb to take my cart into the mountain
They’re good for bringing items down but not up
I've seen that they do. Just make a decent area to defend. Ended up surrounding my mistland farm with double stone walls. Does help yet still have to pull them away from the crops.
I raised the ground around mine out of view
Can I raise the ground underneath a maypole without it breaking?
Hardcore no portals no map. Is it worth building 2 kiln and 2 smelter?
I don’t see why not, surtling cores aren’t too rare to come by, and it’s not like you’ll be using them for portals
Exactly lol
I just started working on my 2nd copper node. Got lucky and have 3 in a triangle formation with a chamber in the middle. Built a whole road for the cart but I feel like I need to smelt it faster
Maybe partially, structures usually break if they get buried underground.
is this game full released allready?
Click the store page.
It's still in EA state, but the next update will be the full 1.0 update.
Hope we get any news for the update in the next days, its been quite some time
It amuses and confuses me so much every time I see someone mention that they play "Vanilla" with "Only a few mods" The two are mutually exclusive. It's ok to use mods if you want but don't claim vanilla if that's the case.
No, everyone is eagerly waiting the deep north biome ...... Eagerly waiting I assure you
There is next week left of January, so we might get news then.
December was on break due to the vacation time for developers.
Where is it mentioned that we will get news in January?
Maybe the next dev update will be a sweet Valentine treat!
Yeah we got some sneak peeks these last months around this time
So I hope they do it again
Note might. At least in the post in social media they stated "see you in next January".
There's no guarantee of monthly updates. The devs have been very nice to us lately but it's not required of them
Why not
Why so?
How not?
Who what?
Where so?
lol
Everyone asking "where is update", no one asking "how is update".
I'll do you one better, WHY is update?
Now that's a question never asked before.
We need one of those magic 8 balls that answers those questions 🤣
When Is Deep North coming out?
shake shake
"When it comes out"
I think when people talk that way they might be refering to the intensity of the modding. Theres a big difference between playing Valheim with some client side QoL vs playing an overhaul mod that adds content etc. For me, Vanilla Compatible means it can be played on a Vanilla Client. So the Enigma Project is vanilla friendly. You can connect on a vanilla client with no mods enabled.
But your right, most players have strong feelings about the word vanilla. So strong that I've learned to not even use the phrase vanilla compatible instead I say crossplay compatible
Yeah, but she is right. Modding is a binary thing. There is no "sort of modded" -- you either did, or you did not.
So is a Vanilla Valheim server running SDC modded or unmodded?
SDC = ?
Server Devcommands
I'm going to say yes because vanilla doesn't let server people use devcommands afaik.
So you had to mod that in.
In case of dedicated servers, yes. Player hosted no, since host can use devcommands.
If you installed something besides just the game itself, you're on the "modded" side of the line.
Fair. I say that as someone who uses mods. Just not Valheim. Yet.
So what would you call a server that is only running admin tools like SDC. It cant be vanilla... it has a mod on the server
So what is it?
Modded, as I just said.
Modded.
Modded but that's not a bad thing
Lightly modded, if further distinction is needed.
Not saying it is. I use mods, heavily, when I use them.
^ Right. No one is debating good vs. bad here.
Makes sense to me 🙂
So basically there is no technical Vanilla dedicated server for Valheim
There is, you just can't use devcommands.
I've stopped checking for any news
In practice though, doesn't every dedicated server manager use SDC?
No.
For general play, I don't even use dev commands. Only for problems, like when my character got stuck in a tunnel end in a swamp crypt.
I didn't. I ran one for over 6 months, never added anything.
Why tf am I letting a random join my server?
Yeah, who lets in randoms?
I guess the idea of a public server then is totally crazy jajajaja
In this game? Yes.
Im just trying to understand peoples pov 🙂
Not dismissing what you say, it all makes sense
I would never run a public server. Invite only. PW protected. A Public server is just begging for problems.
It's like.. the number one thing you will see randoms complaining about - that they cannot join servers as a random.
Yeah youd have to be really crazy to run a public Valheim server
To which everyone just goes "Yeah... play with people you know."
Randoms ask for more public server options, and everyone replies "Why would we make things easier for griefers?"
Public any server. I didn't get paid for those kinds of head aches.
I didn't get paid at all, in fact, I paid for the server.
It's an SP game that happens to have Co-Op.
So the MP side of the game is heavily based on playing with people you know.
Some of the best experiences Ive ever had in games are with people I didnt know beforehand and got to know through a game
I don't.
Which is perfectly valid.
This community is more about getting to know people here before playing rather than getting to know while playing.
I played with people from all over the world. Which was cool in and of itself. Still, I play mostly with my wife, and some times friends.
Like I would trust Rain for MP in 1.0
I love getting to know people who share a common interest in a game I love. Like in here! But opening the doors to anyone in a game where they can destroy days of work with a hammer is ...unwise.
This is why I like to ask these questions it shows me that what I think is normal isnt normal at all
Well, normal is subjective.
<Morpheus Matrix Voice>
What is normal?
How do you define normal?
"Normal" is a dirty word
Usually I consider normal to be utterly boring.
I legit got reported to my boss by my coworkers for... doing the job correctly and following company policy...
So... yeah, where is the line for "normal"? 😄
I hope your boss figured out what your co workers do not know.
Oh the conversation basically turned into him making a list of all the people who reported me and he's now going to investigate them 🙃
Good.
Good! Glad your boss seems on the up and up at least. Your coworkers are awful
Well, yeah, I won't comment further. 😄
I play with people I met on the LNF discord. Since we've been waiting so long, we aren't really strangers 😛
Any1 from poland wants to play tmrw
Check https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510 for Polish people. 👍
Any people wanna start a new game with me any age is fine Dm me of interested
whats in your opinion best boss track
for me, it gotta be bonemass, it just has that part that goes supper nutty, none of the other tracks managed yet to stratch that itch that bonemass defile gives me
what are some cheap swamp foods that i can use in the mountain
Honestly, if it can be helped try not to cheap out on foods
i dont want to use all my serpent meat on silver mining
Sausages, Onion Soup, whatever else you got. Easy peasy
The wiki has a very nice page about food, showing which foods are the best for each biome.
i use sausages, wolf/bear meat and cloud berries when in the mountains
i like the wolf skewers, i feel like i reached another stage when i get to that food : p
and the payoff from grabbing and saving those shrooms, other than for the serpent stews, is also satisfying*
(i know, you need silver for that)
Ow...
I use deer stews for a long while, until i get silver.
sausages are the obvious 'value' food at that stage, in my opinion.
i like to have turnip stew as a 3rd*
Can also just run FFF.
sometimes ill replace my stamina food by a feast, so i get a little more hp, but still some stam.
I run FFF for general Mountain stuff, using regular food only for nighttime runs and caves.
(i cant really do that anymore because i play no portal. Feast cant be carried. but thats irrelevant for 99% of players, i assume.)
how much silver is enough
the strict minimum is very few. but there are some nice weapons to be crafted with silver. (and they are pretty expensive)
You need a handful to craft the cooking station. I don't know that any more than that is essential.
(you could get through the game with only 3.)
is there a particular weapon i should get for moder that needs silver
Iron Mace rocks her just fine.
Silver Sword is BiS for the next boss after her.
I like to make the silver bow, its a good choice for a long time after mountain, and its good vs Moder
I dont know how much spoiler is too much spoiler, so i'm keeping it vague
i should have mentionned that the fang spear(silver tier) is one of my favorite weapon for mid-game, and its very cheap.
i probably know the answer to this but i'll ask anyway.
I have spent hours looking for the Queen on an 'immersive' playthrough.
It feels like searching for a needle in a hay stack.
Any advices ?
I only found 1 mine with a stone so far.
She is slightly easier to find than Yagluth, but if you're no-mapping it, gonna be rough.
the most useful thing for me besides using a buttload of wisp lights and lighting up the entire world, is LISTENING. anywhere you hear seekers, go to them, they could be outside a point of interest
I got very lucky for yag on this run. i found 2 altars of it before i found bonemass.
the swamp isn't as bad as the mistland without a map.... but it is very disorienting.
very good advice..!
i am using those wisp lights all the time. its so easy to get lost.
swamp is my favorite in no map/portal. me and my rickety cart going down my swampy path with scattered torches lighting it as things goop and blurp around me trying to be quiet
playing without a map is such a trip !
i know i could use console to find nearby mines. check the seed online. turn on the map for 10 seconds, just to see where it is. But i dont want to. i hate getting lost, but i also love it. the world feels gigantic.
getting lost just makes seeing your dock lights in the distance that much better
why dont wisps work on normal fog
Fog =/= Mist
The mist in Mistlands is magical and was created from the dead Jotun's flesh and skin. It's quite different than water suspended in air like normal fog and mists are, which is why Wisplight doesn't work on them and only on the magical mist.
Though I feel like the mist in Mistlands are closer to fog in real life than mists.
Curious, what gem do you guys use on the slayer greatsword?
i love my lightning on every weapon
Blue is for melee.
Green is for ranged.
red is fun for huge middle clicks
blue/green is slightly weaker on the greatsword since it swings slower than other weapons but still quite good dmg
The only gem I havent used is jade on weapons
Well exception staff of wild
What about the red gems
Considered by many to be useless unless they get reworked.
It increases dmg every 0.2% of hp you lose
Thats sad, Ive heard snippets of a arbelest blood build that does alot of dmg though, only 1 shot sneak attacks.
You need to constantly be below like 60% health just for them to break even with lightning against a single target - where ling still wins vs. multiple targets.
Lowkey I do red on slayer, looks amazing
Vomiting Sniper build is fun, but it is a meme.
Does it scale with HP amount or just percentage based
HP amount total, which is the the basics of the Vomiting Sniper.
Ling is just better in almost all scenarios.
I use heavy magic so this is a win for me
By heavy do you mean blood or something else
Magic is just Wilds to win though. So you're still not using red gems 😁
Guess its just for trolstav then
We are hoping they rework it to increase adrenaline gain, because then it's an actual discussion about more trinket procs vs. the aoe and stagger of lightning.
That would be amazing, paired with fader buff
I'm sorry but Moder is like the only buff I use now 😂
Movespeed + weight capacity is just so good.
For me it used to be just elder, because the server I was in always runs out of wood and the hp regen is decent enough for me
Start a farm
And trap a troll lol
I thought you meant gredwarf farm for a second
I do have a farm, and I use two handed axe to mow them down, same speed with trolls with elder buff active and a high enough cutting lvl
Whoever said one handed axe cuts trees better didn't account for cutting skill lvls and tree farm set-ups
I like trolls because they can hit multiple, logs at once
Ehe I out-cut troll cutting speeds already, and that involves decimating the logs, stumps however still get annoying on bad terrian
Thats why you need a dedicated tree farm area
The tree farm I still have I made back in iron age is still there
I just flattened out a meadow and called it a day
We also used to have a pet troll we called chungus
But he couldn't get out of the hole so we got rid of him, and relaced him with big chungus(one with the club)
bigger chungus when?
I found super chungus in the boundery between plains swamp and dark forest
First time Ive seen a two star troll and ran for my life
I found a two star troll before a 2 star asksvin smh
Found one in a troll cave, thought the abyssal razor backstab would end him nice and quick, didnt end well lol
i fought a 2 stars troll, on hard combat mod, in a cave. with black forest gear..! and won.
It's one of those valheim memory that i can't forget.
Fighting a 2 stars morgen in a cave on hard mode was worse though. that one got me a few times..
the only point of doing that was for bragging rights. so here i am, bragging about it : P
xox
is it worth fully upgrading my iron pickaxe so i can get twice the silver per go into the mountains
i only resorted to using magic for the last boss. otherwise i go melee
When you are using portals, its almost always easier to simply portal back to base and repair
its a meme at this point, but you never have enough iron in valheim. might as well save it.
just my opinion.
As I hunt for 2 star asksvin everything is out to hunt me
ashland at night is scary.
Stand very still, haha
“Be vewwy vewwy qwuiet…I’m hunting askvwins!”
Take the antler pickaxe(you can repwir it in normal workbench) and dig all the ground around it, is it faster? Hard to tell, but thats what I do, if it doesnt fall wack the center with your iron pickaxe
Ashland mobs: uwu
Omg I’m old 🤦♀️ That was Elmer Fudd!!
i always overlook the antler pickaxe because its so outdated, but thats exactly why i need to remember it's existence
Kek the tone only reminds me of E-girls
Definitely no. Hie thee hence to yon Looney Tunes!
Elmer-girls? Fits bugs more haha
Get a asksvin and trollstav
Asksvin as backup partner and trollstav for distraction
Stay on the movement dont fight
Only fight when you find a 2star asksvin
Ive overrun the ashland with 1 star asksvin, and silly me didn't expect it would make looking for 2 star asksvins hard since everywhere I look I see asksvins
They're slightly larger and darker in coloration
Honestly, it was satisfying walking around and everything around me just dies to askvins
Welp Ill keep trying, do asksvins have spawn zones?
Idts
Dayum
They mostly spawn deeper in the Ashlands islands
They dont spawn in the coast
I see, I guess I am somewhat near the ocean side, Ill see if I can take over a central fort area
Best to look for them in the open areas of the Ashlands
And also be ready to have a trap
Asksvins are really brutal when nearing other tamed creatures
I dont think aksvins fight aksvins, but do correct me if im wrong
They dont directly fight their own kind, but they have the tendency to just attack their own cage out of frustration lol
I always use the hole method when taming
Ashlands mobs have creatures which can do friendly fire dmg
Asksvins, Morgen, Valkyrie, and Lava blobs
Wooden floor on top 👍
It can burn, but it wont burn that fast
Just use grausten floors
Just enough time for me to wait for the yellow hearts so I can leave the area
You guys... Carry stone cutters with you all around the ashlands?
Depends
Exploration: use normal portal
Looting: stone portal
Almost always
I use normal portals and transport stone cutters when I need them through stone to wood travel
Waste of 2 iron lol
I place portal hubs around each ashlands island on the N,S,E,W edges, so I'm never very far from a portal home.
When leaving I take the stone cutter back through the stone portal and break the stone portal manually and bring it back through the wood portal
I just bring a portal with me at all times in the ahslands when exploring
Atleast thats how it was when I got my hands on 2 stone portals
I like to have a main base in the ashlands and use the rest of the charred fortress scattered around the map as portals back home
Oh thats a great Idea, I should do that
Bro you too?
It's easy enough, I will usually wrap a landmass to outline it in my map, I just add some portal materials to my inventory and retrofit some pre-built structures for it.
Does anyone know if there's been any kind of update on the deep north update?
I've already hunted a 2** asksvin on my first playthrough
This time im well equipped to hunt one down
No announcement so far
Hmmm... I only plan to get it once so I can transport eggs between worlds
Devs really cookin the update
Also a great idea, though I like to do it before even beginning to take on forts, I enjoy marking things for later and uncovering my map fully.
Most travel friendly mob ngl
Didn't think so haven't seen anything in awhile so wasn't sure if I just missed it or there just hasn't been one sent out yet
Not much you can chill for now and do whatever in your valheim game, if any announcements does pop up you can check #news
Hmm what announcement are you guys waiting for
Just started valhiem like less than 2 weeks ago so im a bit behind
Yea been doing a lot of building and just general exploration of the world on my uptenth play through lol
I hope they dont add a specific release date because that would just pressure the team to work harder on the update
The last biome update for deep north
I want them to take their time
Oh is it coming soon,
They've had what over a year now since announcing it
The devs stated that they will be releasing it in 2026 but no specific month or date
When it does come I'll have to start a new playthrough
Not necessarily but its recommended for full experience
You can still continue on your main world
Im excited for both the qol updates and deep north itself
I'm just leaving the deep north uncovered/unexplored until the update comes out except for a small area on the coast line I put a portal hub on so I can just pop over when it's ready to go
Nah its good, that world is pretty much done
When deep north drops im putting my resource modifier back to 1.0x
Currently I have 1.5x for accelerated gameplay
If I can modify one thing it would be Iron
I keep mine at 3x and have it on build mode. Been playing since day one lol
so the combination of mistlands and tall snow mountains look awesome
The mistlands is a beautiful place, if only I could see it lol
VALHEIM: the only game where you want mushrooms more than gold coins...
what I'd give for some pots that allow me to plant crops outside of their designated region
cooking simulator
Wisp Torches are your friend
Just built my first hut on the swamp on my no map portals and hardcore journey. I brought all my important stuff with me in case I can't get back to my first base
I have a feeling finding bonemass will be much harder then the elder was
on my immersive playthrough, i had a very hard time finding bonemass. the bog witch also
Had a fantastic start into the Mistlands this play through, and we haven't even gotten to Yags altar yet.
I think the only thing that could make it better is if we found a root to put the extractor into.
But we already found and went into a dungeon, within which was 6 of the 9 pieces needed for the Queen, plus 2 cores. Plus we also found the Queens location.
Outside of this dungeon were two Dvergr docks. Only one had an extractor though.
Plus we have our Mistlands farm well underway, and thanks to the Dungeon steps, we got enough marble to upgrade our food station too.
I'm going to be starting a fresh playthrough soon, just taking my time finding a very very rare world seed.
I'm looking for an area with naturally clear mistlands, that connects in a short distance to plains and black forest-- while also being coastal.
It's super difficult, but I won't give up!
My wife and I have been playing this off and on since a few weeks before Christmas. We haven't even hit day 300 yet.
The dock and dungeon area are clear of mist. Where we had to farm is not. Plus its adjacent to plains, so lots of help getting hares.
Also no roots, yet. There is a close by area that may have them in there, but its also mist covered.
I think tomorrow we will finish going to Yag, etc... then worry about finding roots, etc...
i'm a little annoyed, i had boars spawning into my fenced in farm
they ate my crops lol
There's a tip in the loading screens that says creatures won't spawn near base items like campfires and workbenches.
I recommend work bench first since you can see the active area and replacing them with campfires, bury the campfire lightly to make the area look decent
yeah i have 1700 hours in the game, first time i've had that happen, it's weird
its the first time I've heard boars eat crops too
If they had boar spawning in, other things could have spawned in too. Like if they have night time spawns occurring.
Pretty sure deer and boar do not eat our crops.
yet there they were and nothing else was inside it and all my crops gone, it happened twice
i think crop can despawn if theres no workbench nearby
why would it despawn that makes no sense
ewww y u here hahahaha
idk why but since i make sure all my crop is in range of a workbench, i don't have that problem anymore
Planning to join one of the ifg servers, and well talk about game mechanics and stuff
Been chillin here for a while now too
cheating on ur wife i see
pretty sure those guys already lost their valhiem drive
nothing new, in DRG I was the last one playing, in PEAK I was the last one playing, and now Valhiem
:0 excuse u
in group servers
cheating on ur wife indeed
hmmm I think I wanna play PEAK now. alright its been a while anyways
It’s rough when your family you game with drops out of your servers in multiplayer games…
There’s a scenario like that I’m not sure I’m guilty in?
sigh sucks when ur friends are employed
Like, my brother in law, my sister, and I started a Valheim server.
After a while, my sister dropped out, and it was just bro in law and me.
But losing my sister kinda sapped my drive for it too, and I eventually dropped as well. My bro in law was kinda bummed…
Gotta be grateful to him, it’s been a while, but he’s the one that gifted me Valheim
Thats a real family server right there, heh im not close enough to relatives to have such conditions
I have 5 siblings, between them and their spouses I had to have at least some gaming buddies, XD
PS5 release in 2026, but no word of Deep North releasing this year.
TIL you can over prepare for Yagluth
Berserkir Mead + fire resist + health potions, fully upgraded padded armor and 4 star black metal sword/shield
Silver sword is better for yagluth
Didn't think of that! I have spare silver, lots of it!
Thanks
shouldn't the bronze armor provide better armor?
It has more armor points than anything else available at that point
easily replacable by root armor no? or would you say it's balanced because the abomination is hard to kill
24 armor
i don't want to talk to you anymore
typical discord boy
ok
you're the rude one i like to discuss things
without being disrespected
If root armor was any weaker it wouldn’t be an upgrade from black forest light armors. The main problem here is that bronze isn’t strong enough, the gap between light and heavy defence is a lot bigger in later biomes.
i was more thinking like having gradual armor rating between bronze armor and root armor because of how much of a jump there is to iron
having the same rating for two armors is just a little bit weird to me, it's fine but my buddies always want to skip it which is pretty sad
It has the same defense but less movespeed reduction, and it has damage modifiers
true
i was talking about skipping bronze armor
Bronze armor isn’t trying to be a step up in progression, just an alternative choice from other black forest armors
because it seems you have all the advantages without drawbacks with the root armor, was my point
ok i guess it's pretty cheap
i wasn't aware of the price in bronze but it's alright
thanks!
except the leggings, + weakness to fire lmao
true, i'm rarely on fire at that point tho
i guess it's to balance it out for shamans in plains?
Anyone have any good advice for getting Leather Strips?
plains village or crypts in swamps
Trying to breed 2 boars, idk if it's doing anything. They just have yellow hearts above their heads
That means they're currently taming
Do I just wait? How long does it take? Are they supposed to be just staring at a corner the whole time?
It takes 30m
You can do tasks around the area. There is also one mead that halves the taming time, it requires finding Bog Witch tho.
walls around boars are really needed those poor babies
