Yep, those stonehenges are not something I would call common. Definitely closer to being rare. Even the small single henge stone is closer to rare.
yeah checked the wiki and theres only 5 of each type on the world
Sounds right, from what I recall of the one world where my wife and I wiped every single fuling village out. We went to every plains biome on that world.
Gods, I hate golems when I don't have the armor to fail parry without getting staggered
Thats why I block. Its 100% reliable.
Yeah, but blocking gets me staggered
You need to eat 2 health foods in the mountains
Not packing health foods and the puny armor of the bark armor doesn't help
It's all health, stagger limit is based on your hp after all
It is.
Hahaha dangit, I ran to take cover in a frost cave, now he just yeets me back in when I try to exit
Give him time. He should lose aggro and go elsewhere.
Friendly wolf distracted him so I got the kill punch in, good boy!
killsteal
Oooh silver out in the open, jackpot !
I love it when I find those. Just usually when I do find them, they stick out the side of the Mtn, so look very phallic.
Yeah my starting island has this small mountain surface-wise that is absurdly high, and this was near the top so it sticks out the mountainside saying hello
Nice to find silver without the wishbone. Eventually I got good at guessing where they are located.
my home base is at my mouse key
well shit its gone now but im prettty much middle of the map, idk where to move to. im bronze age just killed elder
heared i kinda wanna be close to a bunch of biomes
I would never have looked here, thought the mountain was too narrow
Not even near bonking Bonemass yet, so this was an unexpected boon
go to one of the big swamps, probably that one connected to the meaddow andd black forest
swamp is the brown shit right
yep
Be very careful. Swamps are the deadliest biome yet.
this spot? seems close to them all biggest swamp i saw
yeah the beige
Thats going to be a rather whimpy swamp, crypt wise, but it should have what you need.
you'll know it once you accidentally step in it
you dunno till you're in it from what I've seen
thank you cosmics im day 2 but loving it, bought on release played 5mins but the updates holy the updates man
The game announces when you enter new biomes, so its rather obvious the first time.
gonna make my main base on that island on the coords in pic
close to everything by boat , safe green zone
We are still getting updates, but the game is far more stable now, than compared to the first few weeks, and even months.
yeah it's a pretty friggin good game
there are some pretty good mountains around there too
1st boatyyyyyyyyy goin down
My story is a bit weird, bought it on release, played some hours until I strayed into a dark forest and some blue guy chased me into a tower and then knocked it down on top of me and proceeded to roflstomp my stunned arse. Got scared and logged off, and then my other gaming addiction lured me back and I never started it again until Mistlands had been out a good while. My loss, goddam...
That long one should have a good amount of silver. Great chance of seeds too.
talkin about my muontain?
yeah
In some ways that is better than being here since the beginning. You have all the new stuff they added since then.
We had all the way through plains back then, but I mean the new monsters, mats, build materials, etc...
I didn't properly play until the hildir update
Thats relatively recent. 2023. I think.
I canny remember
I'm guessing too. ๐
I was playing with friends and we got all the way to just before plains and gave up and lost the save
August 2023.
Yeah Hildir was the in-between little content morsel between Mistlands and Ashlands
hmm maybe my group playthrough was before hildir
I've done a fair amount of solo. Mostly due to my zero death runs. Mostly attempts, of course. Only a handful of what I considered successes at the time. Like getting through Yag, or only up to the Queen, then getting slaughtered by her.
not a fan of the queen fight tbh
can u fish? i see loads in the water xd
Yes, you can fish, once you find the right vendor.
whats reward money or ?
My last no-death run ended like most of my deaths occur. Forgetting to eat and building high towers
Ignoble end
Yeah, I do not do high builds during zero death runs, or climb up Guck trees, things like that.
I didn't die for a while in my current game then I got stun locked by a wolf </3
shit im in the ocean this shit creazy
Oof
there's money in the game
I've even had them ended by smoke from my cooking. And trees falling on me.
but also you can sell treasure to merchants
atleast they gave em a use thats cool
Odin frowns upon you.
Yeah it's a very un-viking way to go
One ended very early on because I accidentally aggroed a bunch of boars. I think that is the only time I have been killed by a boar, let alone a group of them.
wish chat had a global chat
I believe you can yell
Ingame chat? Put /s before the text.
it also pings your location though.
ye i meant more towards other peoples servers
say whats up what they up to yoiu know
I went up the mountain looking for onions, came down with silver, obsidian, a bagful of fenris fur etc etc, but no damn onion seeds. Two mountains, not a single little ruined cabin...
Ah well
nodded off driving my boat, woke up in the water, thank god boat was there
Tower chests can have them too, if the tower even has a chest.
Same with chests in the wells.
No towers either. Wrong layout to these mountains I think, one wide but low, the other very small but tall a f, found silver there but no buildings whatsoever. But two frost caves. ๐
Sounds weird. I usually find a mix on larger mountains. Only run into similar limitations when the mtn is small.
Might be that they're too close to spawn? I'm still on spawn island after all
Maybe. I do tend to have the small mountains on my spawn "island", but do find them throughout my worlds.
So its probably just world generation RNG.
Yeah usually is
It's why I enjoy doing this all over again. Again and again haha
Not one world is the same ๐
Yeah, I have probably played on around 30 worlds by now. Maybe more. I only have 19 of my own saves.
it would be nice if there were some world gen options, like larger islands
I like how it is, each world is its own "adventure", because of how much they can vary. So different challenges for getting your mats, getting them back to base in the case of ores, etc...
I find I always end up setting my base on an in land lake
by accident and don't realise
Noooo
Stumbled on a two star pig, kited it all the way back to base but then it got spooked by something (torches?) and ran off just when I was going to get it inside. Dangit!
I don't mind that as long as they have a nice amount of fish!
Yep, probably camp fires. I don't recall if torches are enough to scare them.
Extra plus if they're large enough to have Ocean biome in the middle
Camp fires are all indoors ๐
Won't matter. If they get the warmth effect, its been enough to scare mine.
Ugh
So just to be certain, I tame mine away from all fire sources.
I think they made them stop freaking out from fires once they are tamed. They used to scare even after being tamed.
Wasn't planning on taming one, but a random two-star was a good opportunity. Ugh, hope I can find it again
It will be in the same area. A rather large area is possible, but they will be "there".
Typed devcommands in the console and hit enter and when hitting ENTER the game acts like it doesn't work. Because it doesn't confirm the text
so the text just sits there
If you found it near a runestone, it'll go straight back there. If it's just a random spawn, Robert is correct, it'll be 'around.'
Nah it was out in the woods
They can still wander a good bit from the stones too.
well I told you I typed DEVCOMMANDS into console, so that tells you the console is activated yes
Did you follow these steps? https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Developer_console
yes
Like I said the first time. The console opens, the commands just don't register when hitting ENTER
Could you open the console, type [debugmode] (without the brackets), hit [enter], then close the console, hit the [B] key, move to a workbench and check if you see any repices in there which you usually don't see?
Are you on a server?
It doesn't work since, like I said ... the ENTER key doesn't push the command through... the text just sits there
yes, on a locally hosted one
Hosted by you?
Yes
One thing I can think of is to leave the game completely, then restart is and give it another try.
I fixed it. Moved all my mods into a backup folder, logged into singleplayer and flew all the way back to my base. Then turned my mods back on
My PC hard shut off ( I don't know why ) so when I came back I was in a completely random part of the map. IDK WHY
sigh
So it was a mod problem, not a problem with the game.
Would've been nice if you'd told us that as well, as we might have been able to direct you to https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202550198174486599
well I didn't know it was a mod issue now did I ?
it was just a troubleshooting step on my list
Weird issues nobody else has usually are mod issues. I don't use mods for Valheim, but in other games my troubleshooting always starts with disabling mods one by one. Mods in any game have a weird tendency to mess stuff up that has absolutely nothing to do with what they actually do...
fi your in a differnt part its cause there world did not save your LOC or you di not save before logging
i dont think i have ever had issue with mods and i host a modded server for me and friends lol
Yeah, I am a fan of mods, even bought a life time membership to Nexus, but I have yet to mod Valheim. I've been on servers where they modded it. Which shocks me when I think about it. I usually mod a game once I finish its quest lines. Of course, technically Valheim isn't even a finished game, so that is part of why I have yet to use mods. So while some mods appeal to me, it has not been enough to get me to use any as of yet.
i just went to mistlands and ive now realised that stamina food should give extra stamina regen
its just such a pain in the ass
I like to play a game through as intended first. Then if I like the game enough to stick around, Iโll mod QOL things.
Yeah. Only with Valheim I have legit not found anything I really feel needs modding. What I do want to look into once it is at 1.0 is finding something to increase render distance a bit, with bigger builds it is limiting and the fact my light houses can barely be seen from the sea before I'm almost on top of them has always felt a bit meh...
BUT, all of this is best discussed under #mods-discussion
On another note, building ten beehives was maybe a bit exaggerated, can't use honey at the rate I'm producing it...
keep building them, you'll need them eventually. They cap out production at 4 honey so just leave them until you need more.
buildd one on every wall of your house
I put them on the roof of my boar farm.
I put them on trees, five on each tree trunk, minimum use of space and always happy bees!
oh i just have enough space to place a 1m wood pole and a beehive on top of it
they should make beehives make crops grow faster
Should I start a new map for the PTB? If so, what settings should I use?
If you like, and whatever you like
Stupid answer, but really it is all down to personal preference. You can play that update on an old world or you can play it as a fresh game, neither is wrong, and whatever setting you go for is entirely up to you. If unsure just go with vanilla, is my pro tip...
Thank you
Personally, I'll just wait for it to go live, but I do understand the craving for New Stuff...
if u want stuff u can come and join us tonight for our new season? it my self and like 3-8 others on our modded server
A modded server? Can someone who is on Xbox join that server?
never opened it to crossplay lol never thought to lol
Okay.
I f-ing hate meta/glitch chasers.... when I said I was about to die due to DOT dude literally said " QUICKLY LOG OUT, LOG OUT, LOG OUT " ๐คฆโโ๏ธ
Well, it would save you, there is not much you can do about DoT, especially poison, for fire you could jump into water ๐
A health mead might out-heal the damage, but if they're on cooldown yeah - about to do a death walk
Its been a whiile and Ive forgotten. Is there a way to turn your farmed goods into more seeds? Like I grow a carrot, can I turn that carrot into more seeds?
you can plant carrots to grow seeds
same wtih all farmables with seeds
Barley and flax are 2 for 1 iIrc
Yeah totally fun playing games by glitching things out. Not my style. I prefer to just play the game.
How do you turn the carrot into seeds?
Plant a seed carrot
wait, you actually plant the carrot itself. lol ok
when you use your cultivator with a carrot in your inventory, it'll give you an option to plant a seed-carrot.
@raven harness yo my mic dont work , rn can i just chill. have something to listen to while i play for my 2nd day
Hello, I'm looking for people who speak Spanish and want to start a new game.
If you take a look in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510 you may find them.
Just make sure you also post the timezone you're in, to prevent getting someone from a complete different one.
And make sure if you post there you still use English as main language.
Thx
ok but actually why do raspberries make your sword skill appear
Huh?
when you create a new character running will make the run skill appear jumping will make the jump skill appear
and picking up a raspberry or sometimes eating it makes your sword skill appear
it's really hard when you try to get your skills properly organized you have to skip picking berries or crafting an axe
whats am i missing here lol
what
try it yourself, create a new character, you will have no skills in your skills menu
When you eat a raspberry the sword skill will appear
which sucks if you want to organize your skills in a reasonable order
forbidden esoteric knowledge
Funny, since it should make your farming skill appear. Or the mushrooms.
Yes, the farming skill appears when you pick one. Sometimes both farming and swords. But eating one screws the skills every single time. I really wish there was a way (or mod) to reorder them
is this from the PTR ? or normal
I think they order themselves. At least eventually. I don't track them as closely as you appear to.
since launch
they never do :(
I always assumed they were alphabetical
i mean if its not braking anything no worries ๐
only my heart :(
also equiping an arrow makes the bow skill appear
They are not alphabetical. Like skills at zero are listed last. Skills with scores do look to be alphabetical.
which is GREAT! for my tastes I run around finding a flinthead arrow before picking up anything or eating or opening the menu to order everything beautifully
you would think by now ou cansort your sKills by level ot by A-Z
it's based on use except eating a raspberry which makes sword skill appear
I'll terrorize politely ask smiffe tommorow if there is going to be a way to reorder them in the future ๐ฅบ
i don't see the point of doing that
Politeness does work best with Smiffe. I doubt he would even know, though. He'd probably have to ask.
even if smiffe got an answer why would he say something not already publicly said?
Point. Plus he has lied to me a few times over the years. I'm glad he did, but still, he was wrong.
that's why i asked: What's the point of asking a dev if a specific feature (that they probably never even thought in the first place) will be implemented?
you will never get a proper answer so idk why bother
Yeah, apparently they don't like to tell us anything until they make official announcements.
Which is fine with me, since I've learned to not trust anything Smiffe says about the future of Valheim.
I get it sometimes devs do say that something will happen but they get busy
Smiffe may be the avatar of Loki
Dvoid said he will add romanian diacritics to the fonts
#smiffed
in 2018.
More likely to get the devs to lie to you here with straight questions than get any answers
I never liked when devs tease their playerbase like that, especially when the game is in early access - that's arguably the time when you should be most transparent and candid with your players
Like I said, I've been glad he lied to me. I got my Dvergr doors, the bear dream is coming true, etc... so I am glad he lied, or was just wrong.
yeah but if you had to deal with the same question that you cant answer for years you would act the same
Seems the site is down
ohhhh i only use it to check what lumah has posted
What was the question?
even devs can change their minds as well
he did?
anything: "whens update?", "when is X?", "can we have Y?"
Nah, just twitter is down
yup
Do any trees grow back fully on their own or do only saplings grow back? And does leaving stumps behind contribute to this?
You need to plant seeds for new trees, they won't grow back any other way
You have to plant them for them to grow back ๐
stumps should turn into those green stumps
Green stumps?
https://www.pcgamesn.com/valheim/battle-royale-mode
Smiffe is this true, Valheim was going to be a battle royale?
Okay, well each type of question requires a different strategy. Some questions are just people getting antsy for new content, while others are suggestions in disguise. As a community manager you have to keep your finger on the pulse of the community while also acting as a liaison between the development team and the community. If it were my job I would be making notes of prominent questions and community sentiment and regularly communicating those with the team, both to inform direction of development and to become informed of development efforts. I would return to the community with a list of answers (honestly probably a lot of "we're not sure yet"s but maybe a couple of "it's being considered"s and maybe a rough estimated timeframe for the next content drop). I'd answer those enough times that members of the community begin repeating those answers so I don't have to, then repeat the process the next month. Maybe I'd have a pinned message somewhere in the Discord server that I regularly keep up-to-date with the latest updates to the most common questions, that way well-read community members can tell people to check the pins.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it would magically be an easy job, but that's how I would do it.
twitter back up again
hi everyone
I disagree
About what? What the job of a community manager is or what I would do specifically?
Because you said I would do the same and I was just telling you I wouldn't.
well you say that now, but give it years of dealing with the same generic questions. Also you kind of are agreeing in that you intend to expedite the process of directing questioners elsewhere, so as not to deal with it.
-# i've been here for 5 years and the main thing i'm annoyed by is how regulars respond to people's questions with snark and sarcasm as if the world is a hivemind that should learn to not ask [thing] once 3 or so people have been given an answer
wait no not 5, 4, still
It's possible but only speculative.
There's nothing wrong with being smart about the effort you spend doing something, especially if it frees you up to put more effort elsewhere.
Yeah, that is unfortunate and I've noticed it too. But I understand why when there are/were pins that existed that gave answers to those questions. I always try to get in the habit of reading as much as possible before I ask an uninformed question, and it's sometimes annoying to see those who don't.
(i'm agreeing with you wholeheartedly for the record, in case my phrasing left that unclear, i'm not good with words ๐ )
Nice
Does elemental magic gain XP per target hit? I've never really cared to check before but PTB stuff has me wondering.
I shall strip this shockingly large plains biome from its resources
This might help: https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Elemental_magic_(Skill)
should have had centaurs in the plains
Yeah I was looking at that. It says per hit but I think its capped at 1 hit per cast.
hey do boats float away or do i not gotta worry about it
You don't have to worry about it.
The moment you disembark the boat stops.
When no players are on them it's like an anchor drops. All momentum stops immediately even if going full speed.
good i was worried i would have to use wood to hold the boats
That would've damage the boat until it breaks.
And with no workbench near it, the materials would disappear over time, making you wonder if it had drifted away.
also i accidentally dropped iron bars and they fell into the water like below where the player can swim what do i do
Don't put them too close to a dock or in too shallow water or the next time it storms the boat will get smashed into it
How deep
(Use log poles to measure)
There's two ways. You can build a really high diving board and try to get then that way
Or you can build an underwater ramp using roof pieces that you can use to swim down to them
like go under the roof so it brings your character farther down to the ocean's surface to grab them all?
There's a third way if you don't mind using Devcommands.
Activate that in the console then debug mode, close the console, press [z] to activate flying and [ctrl] to go down. While your character doen't go down much, the camera will move down, making it possible for you to (auto) pick up what you dropped.
Yup
ngl i wish you can use the abyssal harpoon to grab the items and pull them up
Would be handy I agree.
Or just the ability to dive down in a spot. Maybe one day with the Ocean update ๐
At least you weren't hurled out into a magma pool and had to spend an hour figuring out how to get to your tombstone.
yea honestly there should be more ways to just pull things other then the harpoon either out of water or away from magma pools
There are these bombs, that I had tons of mats for, that would have worked. I just didn't know they were for walking over magma pools. They were "bombs".
@rustic timber yo
ik those and honestly thats why ima try to stay out of ashlands as much as possible
I am not a fan of Ashlands. Definitely my least liked biome, and "like" is an overly strong word for the Ashlands.
swamp is still the worst biome imo
I'll take a swamp over the ashlands any day.
I cant tell you how many times I've taken a portal over, looked around, and went back to build new house.... need Fader to "complete" for now, but uuugggghhhhhh
i mean honestly as long as your good at parrying and RUNNING ashlands isnt that bad
cus atleast with ashlands you can see enemies in the distance unlike swamp where its just like oh heres a abomination now have fun dummy
I just hate the biome. Nothing nice about it. I can even like parts of a swamp, especially with guck trees.
the biome isnt bad its the enemies that annoy me
Well, I am no fan of the Morgen (sp?) or the fallen valkyries.
Bummer, sorry you didnโt enjoy it ๐
Yeah, only thing I am enjoying is the challenge of it. Its simply an ugly biome with too much fighting. Yeah, I know its war, and war is hell and all, but yeah, not a fan.
like black forest, trolls can be seen and avoided and theres only 1 in a area, swmap abominations can spawn away from you, mountains crystal golems are slow, but those bone things are like bayblades with a chainsaw they are fast from what i experianced
mistlands are honestly not that bad
Mistlands grew on me, plus it has beautiful views. Just the pure ugliness of Ashlands is a big no for me.
honestly all you really need is like some 2 star wolves and your golden
lox's and wolves are great in mistlands just send them out and they will sadly get lost but while there lost they attack every single bug
I have my fair share of gripes with Ashlands, but I mostly enjoyed it myself. Hmm my least favorite biome is maybe Mistlands. But itโs hard to say, I enjoy every biome honestly
1 the tarrain is a fair point it can get annoying at some parts, 2 its litterally called the mist lands of course visibility will be bad, and 3 gjall arnt really hard to deal with just hide behind cover and bow them down
if visibilty was good there would be no point of yagulaths drops
Ashlands is boring as hell, the stone portal was a mistake.
I was tired of burning fire lands before I even went into Ashlands. Its a far too over done trope among too many games. Plus its just ugly.
frankly its litterally called the mist lands kinda seems like your complaining about the dark forest having too many trees
Yes, that would make the biome challenging
thats the challange of mistlands your not ment to see anything so you cant expect anything
The terrain in Mistlands was no problem for me, between a high jump and run and the meads for prolonged stamina and better Jumping, I pretty much flew up and down those... mountains? Spires? Whatever the proper geological name for them is.
Ahhh I guess thatโs where weโre different! I love fire levels in video games, so naturally I was super excited for Ashlands
mountains affect gameplay you have to constantly deal with the cold untill you get wolf coats
Yes, its the easiest biome since meadows
boy i was so excited for the battering rams i even in my old world killed a castle and killed everything and took it over
honestly the game is hard you gotta deal with learning to manage the mist the best you can do is make the mistwalker sword grab abunch of torches and just begin spamming them everywhere
The wolf cloak and the breast piece for the silver armor protect you from frost/freezing. So does the Lox cape/cloak.
doesnt the feather cloak also protect from frost
I think so, but weak to fire too.
Lots of ways to prevent cold weather ๐ค
true but unless your in ashlands that doesnt really affect anything and stopping fall damage completely and slowing your fall is a godsend
Well, its a bad idea to wear it into frost caves, with their fire cultists, but yeah, Ashlands is a bad idea too.
the fire mead overrides the weakness from the cloak
It does, but with the higher gear, take the cloak off and the fire cultists in the frost caves go down fast enough you don't have to worry about the fire damage.
Keep the cloak on and run into 4, 5 or 6 cultists, you might be in trouble. Without a fire wine.
ngl mistlands+ cloak was the best yoou can just YIPPIIEE off the massive spikes
pretty sure every cape except Leather, Troll, and Linen protect from frost
Once I get that feathered cloak, I love running around the Mistlands. It is a pain before then. Even with a high run and jump skill, and those meads. But once you can go up and down easily, its fun.
i think metal to i think that doesnt porotect from frost
metal?
metal?
isnnt there a flamemetal cape
the ashen cape
it does protect from frost
The run with the wind cape?
odin cape doesnt
Yeah, that protects from frost? Thats stupid.
It's standard for mid-late game capes
You only get that if you were in Beta anyways.
odin cape doesnt protect from frost but honestly the only time iv seen it is when i stole it from some guys server
You can't use it though
so no point considering it
Yeah, you have to have the right codes to even wear it, or the hat.
ik i didnt wear it i displayed it in my old world on a armorstand or whatever its called
Yeah, you can do that.
so i just stole someones odin set and displayed it in my old world
I know because a friend o f mine got hold of a set, and put it on a stand in his temple to Odin. I don't know how he got it, I don't ask such questions.
Dude, a greyling just spawned inside my house, inside the radius of multiple crafting benches and in an area that has no doors, so it didnt just wander in, how does that happen and how can I stop it?
IF your covered like you say, it should not have happened.
there gotta be a gap then
A gap is what I'd search for.
there are 3 crafting benches, one in this house, one in the house next door to the left and one in the house to the right
and from the center crafting bench this entire house is inside its radius
its not a large house
welp yall have fun ima go in random worlds and see what i can steal from people
if i find another odin set ill tell yall
ill auction it off if i find one
I'm convinced irongate hates me
4 fortresses, 8 fragments total
Smiffe cursed me, I know it, but I just can't prove it
It definitely sounds like it should not have spawned. Years ago I heard of this happening, and they needed to rebuild their benches to make it protect them again. So maybe thats the issue, instead of a gap.
could anyone tell me where I can find red jute? Working on a base but I can't remember where I got some earlier on (like 30 hours ago)
Frost caves, I think.
k thanks. I'll check there
and rarely, it feels very rare sometimes
You just have to be sure to knock down all their curtains.
Or whatever the game calls them. Curtains to me.
It feels entirely too rare for an item I want to go on a decorating spree with
yeah, I have like 287 hours on this game and I don't know where to find red jute
the hanging stuff in the frost caves. You gotta shoot them down, use a sledge, etc...
It could be because last time I remember playing it was the winter season and I think some of the winter seasonals need red jute
A sledge is the easiest way to get them down, imo.
Plus you can get iron bars from their doors, occasionally, and bronze bars from their standing braziers. Again, occasionally. Probably other stuff I am forgetting.
Thanks to my need for red jute I just got my second ever stone golem kill. Not as hard with the staff of embers as it was with the pickaxe
Which is amazing, and annoying because those places are often HUGE so you'll be making many many trips in and out trying to haul all the things
Is the Greydwarf face supposed to resemble Sachiel and some of the other angels from Evangelion?
does anyone have a couple 2 star asksvin eggs to spare? i'm too tired of trying to get these guys to spawn for taming
You used the pick axe? Don't you have to be on top of a golem for that to even be effective? I used the iron mace.
yeah, it was back when I first entered the mountains. Heard somewhere that that was an effective way to kill it, so i did it
I heard that too, but that you also had to be on top of it, or hit it before it came out of the ground.
yeah, but it's pretty easy. Just find a tall rock and drop on its head when it gets close
Huh. I just use my iron tower shield and iron mace.
I use bucklers
When I am first going into the mountains. Much easier ways to kill them now.
Yeah, I don't parry. Too unreliable for zero death runs, so I stick to blocking.
@digital saddle You around?
i'm not interested in spawning them in, thanks
Huge? I always found most of the dungeons in Valheim (including Frost Caves) rather small.
Every time I reach the end of the final branch I'm like "Aww that's it?"
Like okay, Frost Caves and Infested Mines certainly have areas that are spacious, but they aren't really that sprawling kind of huge to me.
it's no different from asking for them. Just spare the time
Really? Ive certainly had some small ones, but I've had ones that I spent many hours in and had many branches and more deeper and deeper layers taking a very long time to get through
Maybe I've just gotten really unlucky then... ๐
You'd rather just have someone give them to you?
The first frost cave I ever found I spent maybe an hour in because it was new and unfamiliar.
Each one after that to make my Fenris set I was in and out in 30 minutes or less with all the loot
I could give you them bro but I'll let you know I spawned them in using the console
I mean I'd rather not spend more than 30 mins in a Dungeon
what do with beehive? i just place outside?
yes, it produces honey
ahhh it says it's empty
might be cuz it's raining
is honey good for anything? besides lots of stamina?
yea got killed and kicked from the server and i was just about to leave with a odin set
crafting food and meads
ah idk what meads are. and cant craft food where I'm at
You'll get there in good time
as a child i yearned for the mines
can any big rocks give flint when u mine em with the pick? or am I limited to scourging for them near rivers
mainly rivers and shores in the meadows
The first base I ever built was a longhouse on the shore, ended up raising a lot of the nearby terrain that was in the water and flint kept spawning on that new ground, unending flint
theres no way i actually found a game like this
Valheim? yeah, it's pretty cool.
What's your favorite part about it?
i didnt even buy it yet but i saw some vids and it looks amazing
i love that dark fantasy vibe
It might still be on sale on I think Fanatical? For less than $10, if your in the US. Or was it Epic?
just checked, its not there although i found a steam account on g2a with it for very cheap also
Eh I wouldn't trust g2a
It goes on sale semi frequently some where.
why not trust g2a? ive bought from there atleast like 5 times never got scammed
i also bought an account with another game already i still have it nobody was on there
is finding silver with the stagbreaker patched?
Pretty sure hammers still work.
you roll the dice every time. seems like you've gotten a lucky streak
alr
is it really not that trusted? a famous footballer from my country was even on their add a couple months back, Lewandowski.
if i get scammed its my fault ig
I think I bought a few Stellaris DLC from them a few years back. Seemed sketchy, but they all worked. Still work. Steam accepted the codes.
I've bought over 10 games from G2A, 0 issues.
yea seemed sketchy to me at first too
ngl it's already getting on my nerves again
the game.
oh lmao
Just saw it rain blowfish for the first time. Was very confused what I was looking at
just janky mechanics and bad game design getting on my nerves. theres a lot to like but man there's a lot to be annoyed with
There's plenty of cautionary tales online
I feel like just buying the game on Steam is a better deal, you directly support the devs and you don't run the risk of being scammed
What are you having problems with specifically?
as far as I can tell there is no way to destroy something u made?
This game isn't for everyone. A lot of people I wish would play it won't.
i mean the dev already got his bag from g2a
g2a really is just as safe as steam as long as you are smart
Click the scroll wheel while you have the hammer to break a structure
don't buy from sellers with less than a certain amount of sales, and with a certain rating
no. equipment
ik how to break structures
The keys are purchased already, there's no risk of being scammed, and it's typically cheaper on G2A. ๐คจ
Not and get your mats back, no. Just destroy it, or toss it in deep enough water, or drop it far enough away form your work benches, etc... for it to despawn.
no.
yea i found it for around 10$ on g2a just now
a lot
Yeah, you can't recycle equipment. Throw it in water and it will despawn eventually. Although there is a good reason to keep a spare set of equipment handy at a base in case you die in a tough spot.
To destroy it you have to have the Obliterator. Am I recalling its name correctly?
not really when it's stone gear
You won't get coal back from destroyed gear though. Or destroyed meads. Has to be things like trophies, foods, and other mats.
I assume you upgraded from a stone axe to a flint one? Yeah the old stone axe is fine to just toss.
You know how to repair gear?
use the expectation that it's an indy game that became huge because of the dev's creativity. there are some issues and shortcomings, but the freedom you have and the game in general is pretty fun
To clarify, throw it in deep enough water, and it will despawn immediately. Throw it in water that is too shallow, and close to say a workbench, and it will stay there.
It will not despawn immediately ๐
Well, at least its out of sight, so out of mind. ๐
Yeah
I don't judge games by who made them or how small the team was. i judge them all the exact same because it doesn't make sense to waste my time on something I don't like just cuz the dev team is new or indie
i play games for entertainment and fun, and if the game I'm playing is lacking that, I drop it and move on, regardless of what developer made it, or how much money went into it
I'm so annoyed about the little things in this game cuz of how many good things it has going for it
little things like how inaccurate the bow is, just get on my nerves
You're using a bad bow, they get better ๐
Still, not all games are for everyone. Most people I know do not enjoy Valheim at all, let alone nearly as much as I do. I'm just lucky my wife is one of the few who do.
the quality of the bow should only impact the damage and durability
maybe the range. but not it missing a shot from under 10m when my crosshair was correctly placed
Where is that written in the game design rulebook? ๐
weird cult fanboys like you also scare off people wanting to get into the game cuz I come with valid criticism and all you're doing is defending it
don't be a coy prick
I'm defending game design not all being the same.
Is this with the first bow? The crude bow? They do get better as you get better materials.
game design being unique doesn't inherently make it good or better
Should be and I want it to work this way are very different statements.
that's fine that they get better but the baseline shouldn't be THIS inaccurate.
Maybe you just donโt enjoy the game, it happens
Correct, so you admit it inherently doesn't make it worse either.
or maybe there are certain things ABOUT the game I don't like. I never said I didn't enjoy the game
I'm just gonna block you cuz it's obvious you aren't going to engage me in an actual discussion.
You can learn to compensate. Are you also just using wood arrows? So no feathers?
I have my own fair share of grievances with Valheim's design, which is why I'm very interested to hear yours as a new player.
there's no compensating it going 5mm to the left when it was perfectly centered
barely missing the monsters hitbox
when I was damn near within spear range
I'm sorry if you feel like I'm challenging your points, but you're phrasing things as if they're nothing but fact.
What is happening
the arrows I'm using should again, only impact the damage, it shouldn't be impacting my accuracy when I'm shooting a target literally right in front of me
Yeah, especially if your using wood arrows, with no feathers. That would be called realism. Now if your using flint arrows, with feathers, I'd agree with you more.
Do the arrows actually impact the accuracy? That's pretty neat
o/
I'd agree with you if I was shooting a target 20+ meters away, but the complaint i have exists because they WEREN'T that far away
they were extremely close
Yeah Subaru clearly pictured everything that Valheim should be before experiencing it, and is now being let down left and right.
I donโt think they do, I think only the bow dictates accuracy ๐ค
I never really used the starter bow except maybe for trolls which are a big target, I always preferred throwing the flint spear when it came to hunting.
wouldn't you be without a weapon if you throw your spear tho?
always have axe
dodgeroll ๐ฃ๏ธ
Well, like I have said several times, MOST people don't even like Valheim. So if you don't like it, its no surprise. Your just in the "most people" category.
But they said they liked it. Just not some parts of it
Not all games is for everyone
never said I didn't like it
idk why criticizing a game= you don't like it
some of my favorite games are the games I'm most critical of
I don't like some things about it either, and I pretty much hate the Ashlands, but I still play it.
#valheim-chat message this really implies you donโt enjoy the game lol
If you dont like something in a video just dont do it?
one chat implies that but you're ignoring the chats where I STATED otherwise
You'll never catch me F*shing in valheim
like here ^
Well, we all weight the pros and cons, and we either play or stop playing based upon that. So hopefully you decide to keep playing.
Unless its troll endurance
Goated potion
nope
Fishing is so chill though, I'll often do some fishing in the morning with my coffee. โ
I don't think they're going to stop playing because the first bow sucks ๐
The copper shortsword sucks in Terraria but it's a great game
โSee how they bait their trap?
If anyone gets that reference, they get a gold star ๐
I fish, but only for fish wraps. I don't go for the hat or the Mistlands food. Except for when I play with my wife, which is most of the time. She makes me fish for the anglers. ๐
Reminds me of Halo but idk if that's what you're referencing
Success
I've stopped playing other games for more petty reasons ngl, but the bow isn't even my worst complaint, it's just the easiest to explain
in a world where there's so many games, I just can't be bothered giving a game too much of my time unless it truly impresses me or does many things really well
to be honest with you bro, i don't think the bow has issues at all
you just have to shoot it a few times to gain skill, and you will get better accuracy
and yes, spear can also be thrown and retrieved
...does accuracy increase with skill levels?
no
yes it does
I'm level 13 with bows
it absolutely does.
The crude bow is... crude. The fine bow is a clear improvement over it.
Only what type of bow affects accuracy
there's no way
the wiki says skill doesn't affect accuracy
sounds like nobody knows what they talkin bout
Any bow past (and including) Huntsman is perfectly accurate
perhaps it's just that it lets you aim quicker
From my experience no, the noticable difference I see is stamina usage when drawing the bow and how fast you draw it
making it seem like it helps
yup, you get closer to the fully drawn faster, but skill just speeds that up, doesn't impact accuracy at all
that's just people in general
you'll find them everywhere
Yeah, speed of draw increases, stamina burn drops, are the two things skill does. Not sure if there is another effect from skill. I don't memorize the wiki.
I very intentionally do not memorize the wiki.
Crossbow experience buff when
can u not change the keybinds for the hotbar?
Heh, IDK, I don't even use them.
Nope
Sadly you cant
Most of us agree that's an actual flaw
Really? Not that I ever wanted to, but you can change all the rest of the key assignments. Why not the hot bar?
hate games with that limitation
I love crossbow. point bang dead
who tf presses 7 and 8 on their keyboard like ever in a game
your fingers literally just can't stretch there
I have two sets of fingers, and I use them.
Most MMORPG players use 7890 even - & =
you take your hand off your mouse?
I shift my hand so my pinky or ring finger is controlling WASD momentarily
When I need to. I use 7 8 and 9 for food, so never need to use them during a fight.
wait no
yea but does minecraft have a 2 button dodge roll ๐
9 doesn't exist
sad
Or 6 7 and 8, I mean.
Most of the time your gonna be using either a melee or a pickaxe
I do everything pretty much without even thinking anymore, its what happens with over 4700 hours of mental conditioning.
Im still not even done with my base
and everytime I get on valheim I just go through my portal and start gathering resources ๐ซ
like a damn robot
I've done probably 60 bases, if not more, by now.
Same, a little practice and repetition makes it that much easier.
But yeah, in Valheim I reserve the hotbar slots closest to my right hand for weapons and shield, and then further away is hammer/pickaxe/hoe and food or potion
My entire playthrough of valheim I did like 5ish bases?
and all of them are decently large
My main base being my biggest so far
Whats to remake? Just chose the ground where you want to plant trees, and plant. Do Beech trees and pine and fir even grow in the plains? I always use a meadows, so don't know.
I plan to remake the old plains base fairly large just large enough that I can use a trollstav to destory the trees and let the troll do all the work
I dont wanna integrate it into my main base
since I have other plans for it
Ah, OK, that makes sense to me. I've barely used magic in comparison to weapons.
Trollstav's fun for that, yeah. Great for mining copper n stuff too, with how much I spend making Dverger lantern posts.
Heh, I guess you spend a lot of time making them. I can't even use the ones I get from dead dvergr camps.
With enough speed you can just push the askvins out of the way ๐
helpful for shields tho
Shields are nice
Something that always bothered me about troll mining - aren't you just breaking the surface of the copper deposit? Isn't there a big chunk left underneath?
Yep.
I just carry Demolisher on me to check for anything left below the surface, and to absolutely delete any random skeletons attracted by the mining noise
Nothing keeps you from marking it on the map and coming back for it if necessary.
The explosion is large enough that is just straight up destorys the entire node
You can always do another trollstav to check for any left over
Really? That something I will have to keep in mind for the future.
And if any fall through the floor, it'll just pop up to the surface in a second so there's no worry of lost minerals
Nope
no lost and its quick
Yeppers one trollstav can destory an entire coper node
double checking doesnt hurt also
Just be careful not to stand too close to the meteor
The explosion is also great at clearing any Greykin that chose to follow you for mining lol
The fire dmg from the meteor is like lava levels of dmg
Hmmm... I may not like fighting with magic, but I might enjoy some mining with it. ๐
Mining with meteors is fun
How do the trolls do on the bridges in the Mistlands?
If you don't like fighting: Get Dundr. Literally a lightning shotgun, with a good parry can one-tap most things. Super fun to use, and quite hilarious to launch a greyling off a hill. It's some serious knockback, so good for getting distance, not to mention the fairly low eitr cost to wield.
It's like ~20 Eitr to load for me, but I also have like 40 something levels in elemental magic, think the base is 25
you're better off bring a stonecutter
and just destroying the iron supports yourself
I tried using it
wasnt as effective as I thought
Maybe next play through. We pretty much skipped gathering eitr foods this time. Even though it probably would not take long to get a ton of mage caps again.
I just mine out the base with a pick or destroy it with Demolisher, both work without needing any extra material other than the tool itself
Stonecutter certainly makes it faster, if you have the stuff for one
i can't believe the ancient mistlands architects understood the secrets of rebar
And then we the viking come in doing the archeological equivalent of breaking into an abandoned building to steal the copper wiring
this works too but... getting all the iron back
if you're in ashlands thats not a big deal
You get a ton of iron bars from the bridges, so just destroying part of it with a pick gets you the iron.
bring some material for stonecutter and material for stone portal
My meal half the time is usually just magecaps, cloudberries and vineberry clusters, for actual fights is usually marinated greens, seeker aspic [dirt cheap at that point], and scorching medley.
thats just my way
We do still have a lot of seeker meat, so I could make Seeker Aspic for quite a while.
We also still have about half a BM chest of Eityr. So can likely make all the magic gear without having to process more.
Plus our benches are already level 4.
Well, the forge is, not sure if we have levelled the magic table.
I'd guess thats a no.
So we can probably give magic a try again this play through.
im in the mountains rn, will the iron buckler still manage to get me through the mountains and plains? or should i just craft the round shield? i do like 2.5x parry tho
craft the silver shield? i upgraded to it from a bronze buckler and it was pretty solid
if you do stick with the iron buckler, you won't get another buckler until the biome after plains
it might work
yeah i was just asking what others did, i mainly use the buckler shields but after the swamp you dont get a new buckler until mistlands which sucks, cause the parry bonus is amazing
i think even with the lower parry multiplier the silver shield is still better at parrying than the iron buckler, but i'm happy to be corrected if i'm wrong
ill give it a try
both will work fine for normal mode
Sorry if this has been asked. Will we need to start a fresh campaign with the CTA update or can we continue the ones we have with this update?
Iโm actually losing my mind. I canโt find any frost caves. I went on valhiem viewer and the mountain shows 3 I found 1. I even matched coordinates and still nothing. Secondly is there a different world viewer because valhiem world Gen sucks. Itโs so laggy it just made my pc blue screen
When the play test goes public, its basically the new Valheim. Your current game should be fine, just any new materials may not show up in areas you already explored.
It's quite effective yeah. #memes-and-clips message
Hello, is there a mod where you don't have to have all the items in your inventory, but can craft them from the chests?

Looking to barter for eggs, I have a number of materials for trade just name your price.
Have you visited one of Hildirs special dungeon locations which gives you an egg/2 eggs?
Dawn of Defiance does and it works great!
The only disadvantage in that game is that the dodgeroll is connected to the key which other games use to crouch. But I'm getting used to it.
I scoured the files looking to find a reason for why eating (raspberries) make the sword skill appear and couldn't find anything
This seems like a @sweet bay level problem but he hasn't wrote anything in almost 3 months
Flint makes both the blocking and axe skill appear
and opening a chest somehow makes the swords skill appear as well
I have to test this further
Destroying a small tree (with your hands) makes the club and blocking skill appear
But if you already have the blocking skill unlocked, picking up flint will not trigger the axe skill
And unlike the other weapons, just crafting an axe unlocks the axe skill. Same for knives and pickaxes
I haven't entirely figured it out yet but the sword skill is triggered by only hovering over raspberries, not eating them
mind blown
it goes way deeper
and thank you for looking into it as well !!! โค๏ธ
Yeah you figured it out. Hovering over the torch makes the clubs/ blocking skill appear. That makes a lot of sense!
And hovering over the tunic makes the... sword skill appear? again??
Sword skill seems to be the default value for an item's skill type (just confirmed, yes it is)
You noticed it on raspberries because that's what you usually hover over first, to eat one
Insane stuff. Looking at the stats in the crafting menu makes those skills appear, picking them up from commands isn't enough. Wow. I really want to find the code to see this behind the scenes :)
its so hard finding a new modded server
Even harder in this channel
Whenever you hover over an item, the game finds your skill level for the item's skill type to be used in displaying the stats, even if that skill type isn't used in any of the shown information.
The function used to find the skill level creates new skill data if it doesn't find existing data that matches the skill type, which is then shown on the skill list.
And the crafting menu shows the same information as a hovered item so it triggers the same thing
So I found a surtling spawner, which at first was like OMG UNLIMITED SMELTING AND PORTALS, but now its kinda turning into a coal farm because its mroe fun than endless chopping trees... but what do you do with all the surtling cores?
Obliterator to coalmax
Whats an obliterator?
A building you can make after buying one of Harold's items. Put anything in, coal comes out
Very inefficiently, mind you. But hey, better than throwing away abundant items
endless smelters and furnaces
or loads of portals
If I could have them auto load from a chest, then I'd do that, but I already have about as many as I can hand feed
I just have a mod that lets me put in the max amount all at once
cause 1 by 1 is a little annoying even if it lets you overfill
Use them on campfire ๐
Nope, works on any firesource like campfire, the standig brazier, etc
Wait, as fuel? Didn't know that
Not as fuel ๐ try one and you will see
Thank you so much!!!! Where exactly is this?
Do mobs scale with more players around?
Up to 5 players, yes
Oh, so if solo mobs are easier?
Technically, yes, they have less effective health and do less dmg if you are on solo, but when playing with people the combat is still much easier even if the mobs are technically stronger
ฮts not like multiplayer has too much more damge , but the health alone on lets say * and ** enemies is staggering
Yeah I see!
So if I play with friends that just run around and let me kill I will have a struggle ๐
Yeah, if you dont help each other but are close together you will have quite a bit harde time, but if you actually help each other the comabat will be easier than solo ๐
teamwork makes the dream work like asatru says
though i gotta admit running into a menace like a 2 star morgen when you are 2-3 people its like a damn bossfight
Heh, that being said, even in solo that situation feels like a boss fight xD
the last time i found one in a cave it was a whole expedition on its own...got my berserkir meads and full health loadout
still couldnt parry it all the way with bonemass...
Iirc bonemass doesent help with parrying, just with the dmg that gets through after it fails ๐ค
Does more people give the h monsters more health?
yes , +30% per player
i need to wait a year for deep north?
We have no idea when it might come
reducing the damage you will take does help with parrying because the recieving damage to be blocked is less , try parrying a 2 star charred warrior with and without bonemass
without it will go through 100%
Why do I sometimes find iron scrap on the ground just sitting there in the swamp?
Tahts the point, you are parrying all the dmg, only after the block calculation is done, which decides if you parry successfully, the bonemass effect applies
They can fall through the floor of the crypt when mining
you really make me think now , ill test it out to check , in the killroid calculator stagger recieved is only 5-6 less when bonemass is applied
parrying with 240 health , 114 armor , 3 level shield and harnesk (harnesk prolly didn do jack since it was the overhead swing that deals slash) , parry was successful but i was staggered
i suppose though that with attacks that are pierce damage i wont even get staggered
no bonemass in these tests
Character damage modifiers are applied after blocking calculations, the only way to resist damage before blocking is a shield damage modifier (currently only serpent scale shield's pierce resistance)
so that makes fader's alleged new stats to be even more usefull than legacy bonemass
since you will fail less parries
+50% stagger limit i think it was
Hey๐ Is there a ticket system in this discord?
unfortunate that it doesnt parry :| it would be so usefull
dm modmail
thats not me searching for modmail mister
send a dm to @dusky pivot
WHEN NEW BIOME
Its ok , just a harmless ping
sigh Don't you just love opening this channel to someone yelling about when the new biome will come out?... Think I gonna instead start up the game and build me a nice plains base.
that's why this one exists ๐
Rocky is one of the best additions to the game imho. I never knew I needed a pet rock so badly ๐
how does someone even get rocky?
You find a special rock in the wild ๐
you need to find the mysterious rock on the ground ... it is fun to go search for a rocky ๐
alright lmao
You also need to look in areas not explored before april 1st of this year
I just made this world to play the PTB
Then you should have no more trouble than usual ๐
This year?
Yep, Rocky was added in the April 1st patch of 2025
OK, just wondering why you said before April 1st of THIS year.
areas not explored before april 1
Because this year is 2025...
But April is well past for this year.
Yes, and? You need to explore areas you did not generate before this years april 1st, meaning the april first that happened in this year, that is April 1st 2025
Ah, OK, that is the context I was missing.
do I need to pick up every stone or should I be able to tell the difference?
it is a bit bigger and smoother than regular rocks...you will immediatly see the difference if you find one
๐
any talk on when Call to arms will be fully relesed and not just on the PTS?
Nope
Just checking... is the bear update out yet?
thats what i just asked
I didnt read anything. Typed my question and waited for answer ๐
Sometimes a tiny bit of reading comes a long way xD
-# No worries tho
Now ill fade back to somewhere and be back asking this again in a week or two..
Other than water falls, Wish I could dig into a mountain to make a cave, even if itโs limited to a cave trolls have in space terms.
Neither is possible with how the terrain and water is made sadly.
Iโm just sayin I wish, a waterfall castle would be beautiful, and cave holds would be awesome with all the builds Iโve seen I know folks would max out
just found the "Songs for Valheim" Spotify playlist, feels like a new game, perfect music match
Why is wolf set soo tuff
What's a PTS?
-# yknow, public test sbranch, where you test the latest public test sbuild
Oh? I thought it was a reference to the state the devs went through after Ashlands was done.
You know, Post Traumatic Stress.
PTSD u mean
You can sell it to traders for coins
dopee thanks
am I tripping or has a channel "valheim help" or something dissapeared just today?
i was tripping! I somehow hid it. carry on
Oh darn, stayed out way to long, now my bow is broken and I have a two-day boat ride home. Gonna be a sitting duck if I get a serpent...
Hah, had the harpoon stashed in the boat. Phew..
yo guys anyone starting new? lookin for new players to play with
SILKSONG JUST OVERPASSED VALHEIM AS THE MOST PLAYED (at once) INDIE GAME ON STEAM WTF from this day on valheim is no longer no 1 but it will forever be in my heart ๐ฅบ
Valheim - 498 478
Silksong - 535 213
Also wild that the record stood for 4 whole years and a half
Pretty impressive! Great for them, I hope Silksong is a great game and does really well!
Yeah, never heard of it until now, but I will be checking them out. Always looking for exceptional games.
Honestly somewhat impressive you never heard of it
huh
steamdb says palworld hit 2m
Any word on when the new update drops on main branch? or is it unknown
This looks like its the sequel to Hollow Knight, THAT I have heard of, and even own it. So I will likely buy this as well. I would not compare it to Valheim though. This is a sequel to a popular award winning game. Not the first one.
Unknown - so when it is ready. Seeing as this update not only adds some stuff but also tweaks a good few mechanics, I wager they'll want to monitor how testing goes for a while before pushing it live. Better it lingers a few weeks more on ptb than is released in an unbalanced state.
They won't release it until they are confident of its stability. It won't be problem free, but it will be darn close.
Right, so I finally found a good practical use for the iron fire pit from Hildir - goes on wooden floors and does not spit sparks around, so it is safe in crammed wooden huts (when running fire hazards) ๐
I wonder if there will ever be stats introduced to the game. Total kills of each enemy type, total objects built, etc
Not sure if these exact ones are there, but type /stats in chat ๐
I've never really studied them, but isn't stuff like that included in /stats?
Yeah, what Asatru said. ๐
Do you have to do anything special to enable that or just type it in?
just type it
it's not in the console
Just type it in chat you open using Enter, then open chat again and use PageUp and PageDown keys to scroll up and down ๐
Is it stats overall for my character or world specific? Or both?
Got a question regarding 1.0 and worlds. Would 1.0 require a new save file/world or no?
Your character stats
It shouldnt
But we never know
If I remember correctly, things generate as you see them correct? So if we don't visit the ||deep north|| until 1.0: it will be fuly generated with the new contnet right?
Generally you only have to worry about new stuff if you have no more unexplored areas for the new material to be generated. IE biomes.
Yep, new stuff will be in unexplored areas ๐
Thanks. Wanted to double check on that
Not just the skills?
Type it in, you will see what stuff is in there ๐
Some new stuff can generate even in explored areas, like creatures, such as abominations, and the "You are being Hunted" event, etc...
if i build a roof over my boars will they still breed?
Yep
thank you!
You will not regret just putting them in a full boar house. Walls, roof, etc...
when deep north ?
No estimated date for it. Not anytime soonโข.
Why ask more times in one day?
when deep north ?
...
maybe tomorrow. Probably not.
Bring poison resist mead
1 enough?
Better to get more, but for one crypt it might be enough ๐
welllll lets give it a go
Maybe like 3 or 5? Good luck!
they last an hour or like 10mins? no tooltip
Just curious is the LFG channel seemingly slow latelly? ive been watching to see if any Vanilla games get posted and i just see the same guy Snipping players to join his server whenever anyone posts
A lone deathsquito flying around dominating an entire swamp is a marvel to behold
Getting Lox into swamps can be pretty entertaining, especially when there is an abomination.
Aye. But few things beat a herd of very angry lox diving into a tar pit after the growths pissed them off
Lox are how I prefer to handle tar pits. Unless I get a "You are being hunted" event.
Just blame everything on silksong regardless of whether itโs accurate
Palworld is 100% not indie, they had 150-180 devs at launch and perhaps even more now. That's more devs than the regular fallout game. The rumor that a small indie company is making a game that rivals Nintendo is pretty much a myth (even though Palworld is way better lmao) since the studio sizes were about the same during development of swsh/sv, but gamefreak added like 50 members in the past 5 years. Indie or not, palworld is still good.
Palworld has 150+ devs??
Man, from what little Iโve seen of it, it didnโt look like such a big production
i was wrong :( from a random steam community post apparently 82 are main devs/ programmers, the other ~100 listed in the credits are voice sfx devs localizers and voice actors but the point still stands valheim launched with 5 people and silksong with THREE making the achievement even greater oh my god congrats silksong again :)
Oh dang, I didnโt realize Palworld had even that many devs, kinda crazy๐ค
@near furnace So I really need to know.
With the upgrade to Unity 6, have the developers figured out what was the culprit behind low FPS with big builds?
If the cause is known, I need to know. You know personally this has been driving me nuts for nearly 2 years ๐
I need closure ๐คฃ
My current understanding is that its making a lot of building stability checks for no reason and its eating up a lot of processing
Nope. We found out around 1.5 years ago batching (all the same build pieces should render in one batch) was breaking weirdly. 3 beams render there, 4 of the same beams render seperatly over there.
But as the game was in an old version of unity the framedebugger didn't specify what the cause for batching to break was.
But now they are in unity 6 in the PTB...
We get tthe modern frame debugger
Stability checks are a factor. But the batching hurts way more
When it's gonna drop ๐ญ
when it's done
sometime after silksong comes out
Wish the mist in mistland was an event that happened like 3-4 times a day rather than just staying misted. Out of all the biomes, the mist is my least favorite solely based on the mist itself. The terrain is beautiful and I love it but omfg
first abomination down , camp fires helped ran out of arrows lmao
arrows are p bad against abominations
since they have pierce resist, there are geysters in the swamp those are p good against em
I love to kill them with a parry performed on top of a surtling spawner
anyone want warhammer vermintide 2? I got it from a random key purchase and i already have it
Can I have it
Was thinking of getting into the warhammer franchise
yee
Is there still no estimate on when the new content might be released? I'm really looking forward to a game of Valheim with the new trinkets.
you can look up how long previous content stayed on the PTB before it was released but basically it will be out when its ready you can't really know what bugs and how long to fix them etc
what do i do with junk items in the game?
there's an item you can buy that lets you build an obliterator to turn junk into coal
A) Store them. You don't know what they might be used fore in the future.
B) Toss them into the world, outside of the range of a workbench (or alike), and they will de-spawn.
C) Hyrcyne's suggestion.
alr
Super nice, if you posted your questions in multiple channels.... /s
So when can we expect ready to fight to come out of PTR?
The call to arms will comeout of ptb when all issues are dealt with ๐ no timeline for it really
the culprit is the players
if you don't build 90,000 build pieces and stuff. you're fine
So.... the limit is 89,999? (Joking, couldnt resist)
Since I asked that I did some digging with the new frame debugger and discovered something odd that leads me to a secondary question. ๐
Is it intentional for the Low quality mesh and the high quality mesh to be in a singular LOD group on the vertical wood poles (and a lot of other build pieces?)
Because the end effect is that both the low and high quality meshes are rendering all the time ๐
don't ask me since I don't program
I can't answer atm
it's a extremly complicated system
you can probably remove all the "fun" parts from it. like stability checks etc etc
but that would also remove the challenge in building in valheim
we have looked at it, done some optimization changes to it
but asking specific things.. I can't answer
but certain things must be like they are
else houses would explode
Why did a D3D12 folder appear? Is it vanilla or because of bepinex
unity 6
tho valheim still uses DX11
So it's safe to delete. Thank you, 5mb freed
Valheim is still the most debloated game of all time and I love that you take the effort to delete unused stuff and optimize it even more
๐ค Today is the day
Today is the day? what day? Friday?
Very thankful it is friday and past my workhours already ๐ means I get to play valheim now ๐
7 hours until I can play ๐
You'll know when you know ๐ฎ
even I don't understand what scales is on about
i am perplexed... and I decided I do not want to think about it and drive myself into a frazzle because of curiousity ๐
Thank you Smiffe โค๏ธ
you do know it's like 42 minutes until we stop working today @shy marlin ?
we ain't putting out any stuff live today ๐
oh yea i know
putting out anything on live on a FRIDAY is not the best idea ever anyways ๐ Our team has the policy "Things go live on Mo - Wed" and not after ๐
After 3,1k hours of gameplay I can confirm it is quite okay.
It is a game
It is one of the games.
Hello, quick question, does flint, for example, regenerate when we have harvested everything in the area?
Flint does
Pretty much everything you pick up off the ground in the Meadows biome regenerates in a few game days.
okay thx
Pickable stones don't, everything else does.
Pickable stones? You mean the stones that are all over the place? Yeah, they do regenerate. I've used hundreds, if not thousands, of them to build my dirt walls early in game. Before I have a pick.
believe those felled logs with moss on them respawn as well...
Not sure about that one, I really thought it was almost all surface level interactables like mushrooms, berries, wood, stone, flint.
No, once you cut up anything, it stays gone. Trees, stumps, saplings, etc...
Yeah the stones you pick by pressing E. They are exception, they don't respawn.
defintely not, never seen that happen
Damn I never realized the picked stones don't respawn, I truly wouldn't mind if this were the case with Flint too
There are some flint nodes in my base that are just a bit annoying with their placement
I know picked stones don't reappear in the same place but I think they might reappear in chunks in random places
don't quote me
It says on the wiki that they don't respawn, and someone tested this with modded debug tools, there's no respawn flag like other surface objects carry.
Been picking lots of them stones in my current run and can confirm none of those have respawned.
Nice to know I picked up all those stones in the same places over and over again without them respawning.
Have, sorry my non native English.
All good!
you speak it better than some english people I know
I'm sure you haven't heard me speaking yet.
I might or might not have bit strong prononcuation of my native language lol.
I always thought the pickable stones, flint, and chopable logs/stumps were kinda randomly regenerated. they dont seem to appear in the same locations like dandelions and mushrooms do
Flints and pickable branches do, and they also respawn.
I know they respawn but they dont seem to be in the exact same spot. Is it a spanwer with randomess or is the ground just covered with spawers that check if theres already too many nearby?
Mine are always in the exact same place ๐ค
I could have sworn the branches and flint seems to not spawn in exactly the same spots
for me they have. To test this theory, place a landmark like raised ground exactly under where you picked it, take a screenshot if you need, or place a 2m pole right next to it. See if it's the same or different next time it respawns
they respawn in the exact same spot each time, done a bunch of experiments related to that for different reasons before
when is call to arms going live??
When the bugs are fixed and it's ready to be transferred to live version.
its a pretty small patch and its been over two weeks, how long does that process typically take?
Considering there's new content, which means balancing and testing, it might not be as small of a patch as it seems. That being said, they also are working on an upcoming major update as well, so the call-to-arms update/patch comes out when it comes out.
That depends at the size of the bugs.
And right now they've hit a very nasty one that isn't as easy to solve. So it'll take longer as most people hoped for.
Yeah it's not always so simple, even when it's just "small patch".
Even those smaller updates have been quite significant additions to the game.
