Those small blocks are a lot less efficient use of stone, even if they make things slightly more stable and resistant to one piece being destroyed (and look better). If you want to efficiently build large stone walls, use the 6-stone 2m x 4m walls
IMHO those blocks are fugly, though
they look nicer on towers
just go to ashlands and take over a fortress, castle done, boom
Yup. But if you're complaining about the amount of materials required then it's an option ๐ I use them for infrastructure a lot, where they aren't directly visible.
big stone bricks for walls small bricks for building and towers
if looks is something you actually care about, some big stones between the more or less perfect pattern would add texture to it
How about just get a stack of stone and turn build cost off so you feel like you got the resources
problem is I've not even start cosmetic stone building which cost even more stone. This is just a blank castle canvas before I add details with arches and shit
Only time I use them are for my basement walls, or for the foundation of stone bridges. But the moment the walls get above a surface they're all using the "common" blocks.
The only stone building Iโve used is a stone floor
Stone is nice because until you get to the extremes of the stability any wood attached to it is equivalent to being attached to ground
my favourite things to do is explore and build but I HATE resource gathering because it takes so long and you barely get 1/10 of what you need
Thats what the no cost mode is for tho ๐
That's why I run 1.5x resource multiplier, and portal metals. I've played a lot, and I'm old with other responsibilities and don't have time for that grind no more ๐
is the battle axe worth it?
10/10 cool factor, 4/10 usefulness
even x5 wouldn't be enough and I don't want x1.5 or 3 on all resources just stone
Maybe 9/10. Crystal Battleaxe is 10/10
its fun, worht it? depends on if you like it
aren't battleaxes insanely bad for what they offer?
yes and no, it feels very different and fun, but you have to wait till iron to get it, and the currently best one is the silver one, which can do some stuff to some ashlands mobs, but its a big gap not having a plains or higher version
good for cutting down trees
They're slow and somewhat difficult to use as weapons, but they're nice because it can sometimes be used more effectively as a weapon than the one-handed axes while also chopping wood.
also the silver tier looks stunningly beautiful, and the attack animations look powerful and satisfying and one of the single target attacks has good reach
Yup. Best weapon to hang on the wall ๐
and it also gives you axe skill to use it, useful to have that high for goat axes in ashlands
Yeah. I like using it when I'm having to go back for iron. Again.
Ah yeah iron, its not too bad really, all you need is like 4000 of that. ๐คฃ
Plus my latest build has used quite a bit of wood, so I need to go get that fairly often. It'll catch the greydwarves in the arc as I harvest the trees there ๐
I like building up high #screenshots message
I try not to use wood for coal, that helps
I've only found one surtling spawner so far in this world, that limits things ๐ฆ
Thats high and fun, I like swamp treehouses, what if a Berserker hits those pillars or do they have earth walls to protect?
I used the 3x resource modifier when mining copper. Saved me from mining the big pits as scraping off the top was enough and still ended with enough stone to build what I had in mind.
Later turned it down to the 1,5x modifier, as you quite often get 2 pieces of everything that used to drop 1 item under normal conditions.
And I still run out of wood every once in a while.
Mining copper with ashlands "gear" is soooo much fun
I go out and fight them. There's nothing near the pillars that the enemies might want to attack so it's not really a target. Only thing I need to do is just keep Lox away
But since it's up that high most things are out of range and can't detect you so it's not even a concern
Could be, but it's not possible when I'm in the bronze age....
this is true, I like to alternate between mining the top only and digging out the whole lot, depending on the cycle the moon is in, the humidity and temperature xD
my issue with any two handed in this game is that game a) relies too much on blocking and parrying imo and b) does not give those weapons a substantial upside
And whether or not you sacced virgi... goat?
Some 2h work well though with weaving in and out of range, did it with Krom
Killed a 2 star seeker naked with it because all my gearsets were in that mine haha
well, all should have a substantial upside to them
Yeah, it's difficult to parry with them. The only two-handers I really consistently use are the atgeirs because of their huge spin stagger and the crazy usefulness of piercing damage
personally see 2h hammers and atgeir more as AOE weapons of mass destructions instead of "2H weapon"
like, i am speaking about atleast having 1.5x damage over one handed counterparts or smth
The big arc of damage of the axe to hit multiple enemies kind of makes up for that compared to the one-handed ones
yeah those are totally fine. i think krom and the fire sword are also cool. axes... meh
I did battle axe playthrough (mostly that weapon not 100% exclusive) a few months ago, was good
Plus there's no multitarget penalty with the battleaxes,~~ where there is with the one-handed ones.~~ It's very much designed for crowd management.
Wait... I could have sworn axes had a multitarget penalty? Wiki says they don't...
wish they had on the first sight useful perks
I think the secondary attack has no MTP but the primary attack does
I feel like the game actually starts at the mistlands, much more weapon types are unlocked
Ehh... you slowly get weapon types unlocked the whole time. Swords and atgeirs at bronze, battleaxes and ooze bombs at iron, elemental damage/spirit damage and the flesh rippers at silver, but the Mistlands is definitely the largest drop of new weapons and mechanics. Kind of makes up for basically nothing new in the Plains.
can someone give me some stones
go do dark forest, look for funny looking wood dudes. they throw stones at you
You can enable console commands and spawn them in. If anyone is giving them to you that's all they'll do anyway. Or go mine some rocks in the Meadows or Black Forest, those are usually fairly accessible. Mining out some Copper will often leave a ton of rock as well.
I've been collecting stones for some long some of them now have funny faces
SERIOUSLY I am going mad...?
or are these stones looking me
aren't those huge ass rocks around yagluth breakable fairly fast and give like 1 billion stone?
I'm only at swamp
All the plains pillars do
ok
Thereโs a pet rock that is made with the rock item that sometimes replaces a pickupable stone
That has eyes
ah yes, the pet rock update where devs broke the translation for rocks ๐
worth it
Will ooze bombs affect allies (or tamed animals) in its vicinity? Or only enemies?
Just enemies. It's super handy like that.
Who down to play valheim with me
Someone in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510 might.
Just keep in mind it may take some time before you get a reply in there.
Oh shoot, @frigid gust playing Valheim again? ๐
Yeah, copied the wrong link.
Thx for the correction. ๐
I put the right link in. ๐
I think it means I should head to bed at 3AM. No other explanation for my brain not working anymore.
Sometimes ๐
Hey, guys, how do yall spot your rockies? I keep looking 5m above sea level, 1km from spawn, but never find a stone named "rock" or that looks any different.
Ik it's prolly just bad luck, but I'm wondering if there's a trick or if they're just super rare.
can you report someone for their server name
its light grey and bigger , found mine in th blackforest , probably easyer to see because there almost no vegetation
i got like a genuine question why did they like jump up swamp difficulty like i find ashlands and mistlands so much easier then swamp
They didn't.
That is very much a "how you feel about it" thing. ๐คทโโ๏ธ
Swamp introduces a lot of things that make the game harder such as the constant wet debuff and enemies that inflict much deadlier poison
it serves as a gate where the player needs to learn about more mechanics such as poison and frost resistant meads
If there were no jumps in difficulty there would be no challenge to overcome
oh that makes sense
Before swamps most players can largely ignore interacting with the mead system but after that itโs a lot more helpful
i never make meads unless its a bossfight, hell i usually eat easy foods like cooked meats and honey. Im too cheap
I like to splurge on food but Iโm likewise with meads up until about plains
Being able to parry because Iโve got enough health is nice
It very much is
And itโs nice to cook lots cause raising your cooking skills gets you free food quite frequently ๐ฅฐ
I actually got a free ||fader bell|| from crafting the other day. Which was very nice โค๏ธ
i have been taking things slowly in my new world
I killed eikthyr at day 10
elder at day 40
bonemass at day 70
then i felt that maybe i should rush things a bit
its now day 72 and im about to kill the moder when i get home โ ๏ธ
should i use poison or fire arrows?
Obsidian.
well if high pierce works the best i guess its needles then
Slow is relative, I killed the Queen on day 1,000 or so, Yag around 700-ish. It is not about the goal, it is about the journey ๐
hello chat can someone help me with the Bonemass boss would be nice
Try #1024264966712340510 .
Or #valheim-help if you're looking for strategic advice. ๐
Yeah i meant slow to my usual runs i usually best yagluth on day 70 and queen on day 100
Is fader gonna be a pain?
Depends on how much you move your feet
He incorporates several aspects of previous bosses (minions, massive AOE attacks, and some new mechanics) which will prove challenging if you donโt good at thinking on your feet
Iโm in the Ashlands at day 146
Will my thunder slayer do good?
Slayers are good yes - and thunder is a great option if lightning pops to deal with minion spawns
Just make sure you have an escape strategy in place if you need a breather
I love greatswords
Eikthyr power and ask cape should get me out of anything bad, literally gives you no stamina drain
I'd use my Krom way more if it didn't have multi target penalty. That is really bollocks tbh
As is it is nearly useless for everyday use, but a decent pick for bosses
If my friend ever gets valheim Iโm only using two handed weapons
I wouldโve gotten it if the queen didnโt resist physical
Still have the secondary to deal with single targets - itโs the same on great axes like crystal
Dual wielded weapons with no multitarget would be a bit op ๐
Secondary does huge damage and has good reach
I hope when the deep north updates they make two handed axes better
Three handed?
I love my blood slayer!
It looks so good and practically one-shots most mobs barring the chunky ones like morgensโฆ
Even charred warriors die in 1-2 hits from that
I really wanted the root slayer but I chose the thunder slayer because lightning is pretty good
I need a one handed weapon for morgens tho
Is blood the one that requires you to have low health to be effective? How does that even work, you strut forward and tank a hit with your face and then hit back?
Pretty much
Practically itโs a % damage increase based on missing total health
I'd never use that well, I'm too preoccupied with NOT getting hit
Unless upgrading my slayer increases the block so I can parry them
So if you have like 600 total possible health and you actually only have 6 hp, you are gonna hit very hard
Itโs annoying that the blue weapons are the best, because the green and red ones look so much cooler imo
Same ๐
I made to at sword purely for the aesthetic
I love the look of the blood swords - in practicality I find their magic quite useless
Green is EPIC dude!
You know you can fully stun bosses with that stuff right?
Just slash until they get stuck, move so they canโt hit you and keep walloping
Can you rollback weapon upgrades?
Sadly not without dev commands
I did that cause I changed my mind about making 2 berserker axes - I wanted a spear instead
For other early explorers who are eager to go into other biomes early and build a base only Swamp onwards, what do you guys like to do besides:
- looking for Leviathans early to make abyssal stuff
- going straight to the Swamp to get surtling cores from them walking into the water
Understandable - I like em for the aesthetic and throwing at mobs right in my face
I donโt like the normal attack
Sword is faster, but mace will do more damage to skeleton mobs (I forget if it affects the boss)
The normal attack is terrible ๐
Sword it is
I would love spears to be like a hoplite stab for greater reach
Instead they are more like a javelin than anything
Itโd be cool if you used them like a glaive
Mostly Iโm just focused on finding silver as quick as I can - then making sure I have a stockpile of iron for later
We do have the Atgir for that, so some of those bases covered โค๏ธ
I seriously need to do an Atgir playthrough
The atgeir is more of a spear than the spear
itโs my second favourite weapon class besides greatsword
Spear is just poke, atgeir is stab
This so much. I'd use the spear more if it had a combo, plus the overhand stab animation looks like you're using it like a dagger. Very useful early game, but I never use it again once I get the first sword.
The first time I played valheim, the people I was playing with told me not to use the sword until mountains, but itโs too fun
Swords are swords, I wouldn't be able to skip them, ever..
I wish I didnโt sleep on them, but Iโm glad I used the mace until mistlands
mace is just better
even though i like swords a lot they are just missing what maces have
Mace goes bonk, but it is boring. Swords are much cooler ๐
Maces and swords are both good for different situations
Mace secondary has high stagger and knockback but sword secondary has a little more damage
Hi guys, I'm gathering info and ideas to make some modded enhancement for the game playthrough,
So maybe you can tell me some points or implementation that you experienced before and you liked them very much
it can be some thoughts about your own experience in playing many servers
it can be also factors that you concerned the most when you pick a server to play
it can be any wishes that a player will make when they play the game
some other aspects also can be like:
"I wish I can have stronger mobs to fight"
"I wish I can upgrade gears beyond level 4"
"I wish I can...."
OR
"What if I can do...?"
OR even frustrations
"AH deathsquito are too annoying!"
"AH too many pukeberries!"
If the question is still very vague, do let me know, I can try to give more inputs/context of my ask
Don't limit yourself, any "volume" of the messages are welcome haha, just give me some time to read
Can reply it here or send me a DM if you preferred more detailed discussions
To be fair Frostner is awesome
Don't even carry one in Ashlands, I do drag Demolisher around but the only time it gets use now is when I'm getting more frost glands and run into a golem
This makes me feel better, lmao. I felt slow myself, but turns out I'm chill.
Currently Frostner is my morgen killer
frost is the best elemental damage type we can all agree on that
Mistwalker is very strong against morgens
I refuse to get more iron
And I donโt need any more
Mistwalker is overall an excellent weapon (so far for me) in Ashlands. Hope I can make that damn forge upgrade soon so I can get it to lvl 4
Still no flametal?
Iโve found two veins of it close to the land
fr better than dyrnwyn or the other sword
And basalt bombs are easy to make
swords*
No, every time I try I get ambushed by pretty much everything. Since yesterday I've been building an asksvin farm instead, less stressful
Hello everyone
Game is fine how it is.
If you guys build your bases to take advantage of existing structures, what are your favorite considerations? Such as
- underground base under Elder altar
- base on top of dungeon for yellow mushrooms in your basement
- simply needing less materials when there is existing structure there
- unique aesthetics (Bonemass skull base, Fuling village restoration)
I personally love using the stone circles in meadows as a starting location. Big area, already mostly flat, easy to defend, they're perfect to start out
this
im even including one in my late game base that isnt ready yet i was thinking for a portal house but im not done deciding that yet
Feel like the only mods I'd add would be more building structures, like maybe a roof between thatch and wtv we end up getting in plains. I feel like it takes forever to get new roofs.
Also this should be in #mods-discussion
I use troll caves to keep my chickens in, early on you can use the entrance to make a really cool little mini-base, that can be very easy to defend depending on the terrain around the cave. I also built my giant tower up on top of it, based around a planted pine tree.
This might be dangerous but its fun. Find the tallest tree in the dark forest and build as high as you can.
Then wait for a troll to cut you down
I did thatโฆ
After growing the tree on a small inaccessible, man made hill ๐
๐
Yup, none of those bipedal battering rams coming near my tower!
Has anyone who played Valheim in 2021 been able to confirm if the current normal difficulty is easier than when the game was first released? I remember that when I played at launch, I thought it was much harder, but it might just be in my head.
the bosses are easier
I'd say core gameplay balance has received four years worth of polish.
My brain read this as 4 years of Polish like the country ๐
though, the greydwarves didn't originally throw rocks.
Solid confusion there ๐
Sticks and stone so break my bones ๐ ๐ญ
I got a mod that lets me upgrade the wisplight because, damn vanilla wisplight is utter crap
100% agree. Wisp light needs x2 or x3 radius and speed in clearing mist
Their shitty radius is kinda the point though. That said, I wish there was a way to upgrade them, or unlock an upgraded wisplight later on.
Like, make a building piece of those freestanding dvergr wisp lanterns
don't forget, mistlights stack with mistwalker for more light and radius
the upgrade from the mod eats all my excess silver at least, which is nice
and made me actually build more than 1 wisp fountain whic I never really thought about doing other than decorations before
Mistlands is one if not THE most visually stunning biomes and they covered it in a magic mist that can only be dispelled by a 10ft radius wisp
What a fucking waste
That I agree with, Mistlands is gorgous but we can only see tiny bits.
greater impact when you do see it. if you saw mistlands clearly all the time it would be boring
At first yes, but I wish the mist would go poof once the Queen bug has been squashed
I love mistlands and the whole vibe of the biome, but the magic mist needs better ways to be dispelled PLEASE!!!
Then it wouldnโt be the mistlands
Lore wise, the mist comes from Yggdrasil and itโs roots
Consequently, that is also why the bugs are SO DAMN BIG!!! ๐๐๐
I get it, having no mist would be nice, but that would also be like saying that the swamp stops raining, or the mountains stop blizzarding once their respective bosses are dead
Aright, then lemme build those fancy dvergr lights standing around in the world (with something made in that press maybe) once the queen bee is gone! ๐
I don't mind the magic mist but we need better ways to dispell it so we can see more than 5-10ft in front of us. The mistlights need a massive buff too
And what would you call it if you remove the mist? ๐ค
I would like that!
dark forest is still dark at night
Honestly, anything dverger related makes me happy
They have such a lovely design! โค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธ
Dark forest is kinda named that cause of the trees
More trees = darker at night
Itโs not quite as impactful as the mistlands
mistlands has mostly magic mist everywhere all the time. It would be nice to be able to dispell some regions or just have a larger radius of light
not saying remove the mist
Bigger wisp light would be lovely ๐ฅฐ
yea, upgrading the wisp using cores or sap or tissue would be a great way to progress
or even refined Eitr
Also a great way for the gjall to see you faster ๐
that is an interesting point
The number of times Iโve turned off my wisp light when I am spotted by a gjall or seeker soldiers to make a hasty escape
You know so many people donโt appreciate just how helpful the mist is in escaping the bugs
I am sure it is why people struggle translating from the mistlands to the lands of ash
EVERYTHING can see you and makes a beeline for your position down there
TIL that the bugs can't see me in the mist
When I started playing mistlands on release, I still had a fairly large portion of the map which had not been updated properly cause I explored it pre-mistlands release
It was Awful!!! ๐
Had 2 seekers with a 1* and a soldier chasing me the moment I put my nose in there
when ashlands came out I had a snow-covered island near the rocky shards
Then we found gjall with ticks AND seekers which got all of us killed in quick order ๐
Aaah man that must have been nice! ๐ฅฐ
Unless the terrain moved deleting your outpost ๐
I remember that happened to also me people
I've done multiple no-wisplight runs now and i can say with confidence that most worlds have no shortage of mist-free areas. You need to explore a little, but i've always found enough mines and dvergr towers to finish Mistlands without ever setting foot into the mists (with the exception of killing the Queen. No mist-free citadel, yet).
the fact they do got me killed one time ๐ญ
he pinged a rock at me from far away and i didnt even know he was there and it hit me and killed me because i was 5 hp
Wow, just started playing Iron Realms, it's a great modded server!
Smoked bonemass and have frost mead ready
Im about to start making a play for the mountains, anything i oughta know going in?
Wolves are glass cannons
Very fast attack speed with low health, so they are easy to stagger
Oh and uhmmmโฆ Donโt fight stone golems on the edge of a cliff ๐
is spinesnap better than draugr for mistalnds overall
no. Nothing in Mistlands is weak to spirit iirc while pretty much everything is neutral to poison. And draugr fang with frost arrows pretty much oneshots non-starred seekers on normal anyway, so no need to pay more stam cost to shoot.
Save Spinesnap for Ashlands.
gotchu. thats what im going with for now feels amazing
Draugr bow is bit better IMO, due to smaller stamina usage and additional poison damage which Seekers don't resist.
Spinesnap is better for Ashlands.
also the slow from freeze is too good
i also just crafted a mistwalker and its cool to use but i think will get better once i have more skill in it (havent used a sword since start) but deals kind of same damage as my frostner. feels better when i happen to hit seekers in the ass
If your club skill is much higher than sword skill then the difference between those two might not seem that noticeable against seekers.
But at the same level the difference is much more noticeable with the 40 damage difference.
Also, 1 handed swords don't have multitarget penalty so it deals better damage when hitting multiple targets.
starting my journy of hardcore attempts
first one just died to a skeleton in a burial chamber lol
the solution to everything in this game is the bow
is valheim gonna be released to playstation once its out ?
There haven't been any confirmations, but they have said that the way Playstation does early access is part of the reason that they haven't done any work on that front. It's a possibility, but no guarantees.
oh right, ive heard that playstation doesnt allow early access games. I hope it comes out on playstation once its out then
man the meadows really are so extremely peaceful
hey i need help should i build a new base as my current one is real small or should i inforce it with iron
All matters of "should" are your personal choice and there is no wrong answer.
im asking as im worried about the wood being easy to break with its low hp and i want the base to be able to mostly survive something like the troll raid event
trenching is the best solution for most ground based raids
well, "best" is subjective, but it's extremely effective
trolls will destroy any building material pretty quickly. Either build a moat or terrain wall or go out to kite them away from your base, but you're not holding them off with walls no matter the material.
I prefer making temporal outposts until I've progressed enough and found good spot to make the "main" base.
Hey! Today ive found out that its possible to have 'server side' mods so that xbox players can also use them. I had to stop playing valheim due to my immense fear of ticks. Perhaps anyone knows where should i look for more info about that? I doubt theres a mod made that changes ticks into different model etc but it would be a start if i could find out if thats even possible to have on server and not client side
Folks in #mods-discussion might be able to tell you if there is something like that ๐
Thanks, moving there!:)
ngl would be cool to be able to have a seperate layer of armor for decoration like cosmetic armor
Because the best option is actually just disabling raids in general
People dislike solutions
lolol, yes that is the straightest line
hey is moder skippable?
anything is skippable, it just has consequences
Well... Yes... But lots of stuff will stay locked
like?
She is the only real lock in progression
the entire next tier of gear
well except eiktheir lol
anything you need blackmetal and flametal for, just example
That one is totaly skippable ๐ trolls can do the mining for you
wait huh
the bosses all gate the next tier of progression, so skipping one prevents you from accessing it
armor, weapons, etc
ik bonemass is easily skippable by just using stag breaker to smack the ground untill ya see too hard
queen
the difference with moder is she gates an item to allow you to craft the next set of gear
so it's less about locating resources and more about not being able to process them, in her case
Eik skip-trolls, Elder skip-chair, Bonemass skip-stagbreaker, Moder-dont skip, Yag skip-just listen, Queen skip-be fast + bit of luck
so moder is really the hard lock
Didnt try it myslef but couldnt she be accessed via chair like crypts?
it works
Good to know ๐ (Tho i will not be skipping any bosses myself)
you could previously dig in from under and behind the entrance and access it aswell
Oh xD
we shrunk the door and added some more rocks to hide the entrence
Makes sense, tho the chair would probably still be easier, but that is a bug ofc and has to be deliberate, this was possible just by digging around ๐
Would it be possible to make the entrance not work until itโs unlocked?
with my amazing location maker collegue
yes but why?
if someone wants to cheat ๐คท
hey guys, haven't done a play through in a little while, since shortly after ashlands release. Has been there any major changes since the bog witch update?
not really no
Just found a sunken crypt with absolutely nothing in it, made up of 2 rooms.
This ever happen to anyone before?
Sometimes happens ๐ i have once seen just the starting room with all paths blocked off
Oof, that hurts.
This crypt is one of 3 in a biome I found, another only had one stack of iron, but the last had plenty, at least. Tough luck ๐
No.
Who are you saying no to?
No.
No.
It's gone now.
i think its funny how moder is the one boss that you have to do but has the most useless buff
If you think so ๐
PvP servers when?
When all players on the server agree ๐
Or do they exist? ๐
Look in #1024264966712340510 ๐
You mean the most powerful, right?
Oh they exist. Lots of people enjoy trying to make the game something it isn't.
PvP is a form of survival
you mean Drakes
yes
maybe only in mountains, that would be cool
And complain when it doesn't work properly (it's shocking)
I've had two cases where all three passages were blocked right at the entrance.. Got 2-3 yellow mushrooms and like one ancient bone from those...
That's just cruel
Still useful to make a fire to get rested buff and wait out the night when you are fresh and squishy and the wraiths are scary..
Will tamed creatures of different type count towards each other's max for breeding in a certain area? Thinking of keeping my asksvin together with the chickens, just gotta remember never to put on friendly fire..
No, only their own.
Excellent
They will never exist (in a proper way). Valheim is a client-authoriative game, and was never designed for PvP nor can it be changed to support it as engineered.
Which I personally love the developers made a design decision that resulted in them focusing on doing one thing well, rather than doing multiple things poorly (I'm looking at you ARK)
yo did anyone know that the cheat sword has been in the game for so long valheim was not called valheim? (ps not sure on the "was not called valheim" i just have a old version that still has it)
I would imagine a lot of people knew that.
There are many here that still remember Fejd.
fejd the version of valheim were the player looked funny, best version, my opinion just for that one thing
around the same time waystones were a thing
stick man
Ok,
but i am on the hunt to find when and why the SwordIronFire was added
Why? Just as a testing tool. Same reason we have corgi statues and a whole host of other things.
just document it so people who were wondering could know
btw the statues you see like corgi and deer and stuff were used on the old elder summon
I do wonder if you think you're the only person that was around at that time.
same with the stuff form the swamp wood is called elder bark
im new to the game but i like seeing how some games were made
Was that the original game name?
Yep.
ye
I wish we could build the corgi statue for no apparent reason, and it requires elder trophy for the easter egg
huh - TIL
could be cool to have some of that type of stuff buildable when 1.0 drops
Pre-development stuff ingame makes absolutely zero sense.
i do have one fun thing, Stone pickaxe used to be a thing
Yes, and?
just some fun things form back than
On that note, the impossibility of making underground bases used to be something that bothered me, but I actually love this restriction, now.
I'm glad you're enjoying finding things about the game I guess.
Ik you weren't talking to me, but personally, I love finding little tidbits about the game. It's fun. ๐
You're correct, your comment came while I was typing, but yeah, I genuinely mean that. I just don't know why it's being phrased as though they're the first person to ever discover this stuff.
just hit day 100!!!!
I think they were just hyped up and wanted to share their discovery. It's exiting to find stuff on your own, even if it's "old news" so to speak.
I shouldn't speak for others, but I assume they didn't think they were the first.
i knew that stuff was in the old builds but its cool to see it again after all the years
btw what do people think of old Yggdrasil?
It's not in the game so I have no opinion.
Not sure what you mean. Did it used to look different?
Idk much about anything, so forgive me ๐
its was like a wispy and cloud version of it
but full sized
oh it didn't look like it was now?
i mean im right now playing that version
yea
Can you share a screenshot?
idk were i can send it
#screenshots...
Screenshot channel, unless you've already sent something, which I believe you did
i sent flint
Rip
flint has not changed
flint looks so smoooth
i think the flint is good the way its been
the main thing is i could stream it if its ok with the mods and devs
Stream Valheim? Thousands do.
bro why does the serpent scales kinda feel underused like i would like a armor like mountian teir that uses serpent scales
There's really one usage and it's the shield
yea which sucks cus using serpent scales could be so cool to use
I might be wrong, but I don't think you need explicit permission to stream any game
That's a way to market games too, gj'know?
As long as you stream valheim in the public voice channels of this discord.
Outside of this discord you can stream what you want ๐
It would if they were streaming the current version of the game, not one from years ago.
Streaming a video game is technically a copyright violation in many places, developers just rarely act upon it (or mind in the first place)
I mean.. that's probably why I don't see any nintendo games being streamed.
Makes sense.
went to mine silver
the whole vein just mined itself somehow
i broke the first part and the rest just kinda... broke?
You hit the tail of prince ruberts drop
If the object is not supported, it crumbles ๐
You got extremely lucky with that one piece being the only one connected to the ground, causing the rest of it underground to collapse
The fastest way to mine silver
Guys is the console version worth buying?
Btw I'm askin just in case i buy it and end up with no one to play w
You can play on servers that allowed Crossplay. I think Crossplay is an official Valheim thing
You can look in #1024264966712340510
There isn't really any channel dedicated to trading since it's not intented feature in game, due to being mostly solo experience with optional coop.
Trading why? Everything can just be spawned in for free.
I dont have admin
My computer frooze and my harpoon I made is gone and it is not on the backups
You don't have admin where?
If itโs not your world, spawn the items you lost on your own world and bring them to the server
In one single world?
Go into a different world. Spawn harpoon. Return to the one world you don't have admin in.
its funny i got "the horde is attacking" raid event
and i had like 60 greydwarves in a hole sooo it was fun watching greydwarves fight goblins
the greydwarves won
100 greydwarves vs 1 fuling berserker
Just gather up enough to make another tbh, it isn't difficult enough to warrant cheating.
Or just spawn another one in because it is your game, play it how you want to.
Exactly why I posed a differing option, but thanks for coming out.
Hi, i had to stop playing valheim due to the 'stutter' problem in ashlands. anyone had the same problem? i'm looking for solutions.
I turned the video settings to their lowest and i don't notice it being any better.
#valheim-help is a better channel for this type of question.
it's sadly because audio issues with the game engine
Not necessarily, my friend had this issue because of a morgen leveling all the rocks around our base. Until we used the dev command 'removedrops' they were constantly stuttering.
thanks, i'll try that
Worth a shot, just don't have any valuables on the ground of course.
i wish i could say i die a lot because of it, but i honestly don't need that problem to die in there..! ashlands on hardmode is insane
I do think it got worse, and there is a lot of stones, bones, etc around the map. I'll come back and tell you if it got better.
actually 20 killed the berserker i did get help from greylings and other greydwarves and greydwarf brutes spawning
hardmode is more a WIP than something people should take to serious ๐
20 went to both berserkers and like 3 greydwarf brutes and the remaining 20 killed the little ones and the shamen
Yeah but i heard pc players only play modded cuz I've seen clips of the game modded and it looks sick
You heard wrong. Vanilla PC players are abundant.
Modding a game before it's even finished is like begging to corrupt a save file anyways.
I am too much of a loot goblin to ever leave anying lying on the ground. I pick it up and store it for later - and if I know I won't have use for it it goes into the obliterator. Coal is always needed! But anyway, I don't have a stutter problem in Ashlands, so not leaving all those sparkling things lying around should definitely help.
Sq only?
yes. something between 5-8% mod the game ๐ค
it use to be even less
If Valheim gets an official Steam workshop after 1.0 I might consider something to increase render distance, but I have really never felt any need to mod anything about the game.
do your PC support it tho?
I wouldn't make it show the entire world, just enough so that my damned tower doesn't pop into existence just before I bump into it (to exaggerate a wee bit...) But mostly to make my lighthouse serve its purpose and not just be pretty when I get close to home. ๐
PC should be able to handle it though
Playing hardmode feels like its not the way the game is meant to be played. In ashlands, its not 'hard', it's insane. You get 1 shot by mobs, even with 3 top quality hp food and the best gear you can have.
I didnt want to remove items unintentionanly so i turned mobs to 'passive' and cleaned up ashlands. its better..!
i get stutter every 30 secs instead of every 10 secs.. definitely an improvement.
Yeah they hit hard enough on normal, I honestly don't understand why anyone would subject themselves to hardmode down there. In general I don't like difficulty alterations that change mechanics, imo it would be better to have more mobs and increase frequency of starred ones, let starred mobs spawn at day time, let mobs normally without stars have them and so on. Enter two star serpent attacking my karve...
I worked very hard to get there on hardmode, its taking a lot of humility to stop there/turn the difficulty down. but honestly, its not fun.
with stutter every 10 secs on top of that, i was going to quit for sure.
actually... the problem persists even after clearing 6 chests worth of items from the ground :_(
maybe it is a problem related to sound that i can nothing about
Hmmm, might be an unfortunate combo of hardware + Unity engine then? I only get a few spikes when the world saves. I have learned to go hide somewhere after the warning comes up, at least when I am somewhere dangerous.
there is a video on how to optimize fps, should I post it?
i have old hardware, but i have 0 problems outside ashlands. It goes from perfectly smooth, to hardly playable.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6IBkMW39egU this always gets recommended especially for older hardware
the fps seems fine, but it just freezes up every 10 seconds or so. it did seem to coincide to new 'mobs' loading in. but idk
something that not everyone knows.
bonfires have the longest render-distance in the game and will show itself before most other things in the game
it is sound related
it's a known issue (for us)
i think you are right. i wanted to try the other option since theres nothing i can about this one..
thanks for the help
I didnt notice that you are a Dev. I appreciate the response.
I have indeed noticed that, a pretty bonfire does adorn the top of my light house. I just wish I could entrap a fuling there as lightkeeper, to keep it lit when I am travelling so it doesn't burn out before I get home!
Sorta. Goblin bonfires render in, then render out, then render again when you get closer
Itโs very evident when sailing at night. Youโll briefly see the fire, then it goes away. Then it comes back. .
/shrug.
Itโs like they load and render in until the game realises maybe they are too far. So they disappear.
Then re-render later.
But yes, furtherest by far.
i had too much pride to give up on my hardmode save, so i went around my ashland base and killed tough mobs with a troll armor and a knife before i called it quit xD
It felt good.
I'll put that save on ice for now..!
I'll try a no-map world.
I was gonna say.
I hope I am right about the issue since it's my job ๐
I didn't notice it, but it did sound true when i first read it. i think i didnt want to believe that i had no way to fix it :_(
I love Valheim..! I spent a lot of hours in this game since i got it.
I played vanilla, no cheats, hard mode preset, minimum help from the wiki. Its been quite a journey.
apart in the ashlands, i didnt abuse using campfires to prevent spawns or raised terrains to protect my base.
I keep saying its in my top 5 best game i played, but i can hardly think of 4 other games i enjoyed more.
Yeah
thee problem is when the game wants to use more than 16 channels of sound
good?
yup
it was out of gamepass last year tho
Sadge
That was the time i played it
It's pretty cheap tho so I'm prolly gonna buy it
we go on sale pretty often ๐
but we have added some content since game pass ๐ค
Regardless It's still hella cheap
Funny enough it's literally cheaper than terraria
Well I can say that your money will be well spent this game is 100% worth it
Ik lol i played the game before
cheaper than alot of games on steam ๐
I'm on xbox :3
Fr and unlike some games you will never run out of stuff to do and even after completing the game just start another one and do things a bit different
that's one of the points with valheim. don't have something that just is "the best" and a randomized map also helps
Yeah i remember the struggle i had with exploring the world back when i played
It was funny
๐
I will never understand the rocky campaign </3
๐ชจ

Take a thing. (Legit anything)
Make it cute, or sexy.
Sell it.
Profit.
Guys, is Rocky the pet limited time only ?
untill deap north maybe, so 2 years or so
It has been in game since 1st April, so apparently it's permanent.
In-game Rocky is permanent, plushie Rocky is for a limited time only!
deep north this year?
Not confirmed information yet.
well there was a purple around, was hoping for a yes or no lol
I can assure that is what devs have said also.
The purples don't even know so...
whats yellow mean? lol
Server booster.
but purples must have a general target they are looking at
Which would never, ever be shared outside of the actual dev team because that's in the game dev 101 guide, lol
They will share the information to us all when they seem fit.
None of us get any info beforehand.
they usually give a quarter or half year they plan on that they announce
The best info we currently get is monthly (usually at the end of month) dev blog post where they might share new mini series trailer of something spoilery, which also appear in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202150165449035816.
Who is "they"???
its been over a year since ashlands
Not yet a year.
There were around 17 month gap between Mistlands and Ashlands and considering 1.0 will be their biggest update so far it might take even longer than that.
Sorry this might be a stupid question, ik deep north is the last biome, but is the release of it supposed to be 1.0 "final" update/full release?
Yes, DN == 1.0
Sweet, thanks ๐
Final biome update and 1.0, yes.
Not a stupid question at all, you seem to be fairly new after all.
For some reason, in my head I thought they'd release DN, and THEN 1.0
Idk why I thought that
DUMBEST QUESTION IN THE HISTORY OF ALL QUESTIONS!
๐
At least according to a Chinese saying, you were stupid just for a moment instead of rest of your life (if you never asked).
Bold of the chinese to underestimate my studipnessity
I believe it's just "stupidness".
But lots of them are about being or not being stupid.
I dont word goods
That okay.
Im just kidding btw, I appreciate the sentiment.
I figured.
really out here getting announced over a 30 dollar plushy
Sounds like someone isnโt lonely or in need of a friend
Has anybody noticed a difference in what you place in Rocky? Is it strictly for decoration?
Itโs so far away that it would be entirely covered by fog and you wouldnโt be able to see it well
What is Rocky about? I stopped playing before the release and didnt come back yet. Should I come back just to build it or play with it?
I mean, I want to have it in my world
its a decoration. might add comfort? You can mount something on it like a flower or trophy. It has facial expressions that reflect your status and makes motivational comments.
Everytime this channel has a new notification, I quickly open the discord and hope that there is news about upcoming update. That rocky starts making me mad ๐ I guess its because I haven't played since Mistland.. just waiting for that last biome and I get another 500h of fun
So does this rock actually do anything or just put down and thats it, seems pointless
I enjoy the early game more. just started a new playthrough
It does nothing
Oh FFS. Walked up the mountain at nightfall to look for starred wolfies. First wolf I see is a two star- but before I get to it two seekers swoop in and kill it. FREAKING BUGS!
Trying to remember what seekers are, not played in so long.
It's the second one I have ever seen in 1100 days in this world, the first one I killed myself before I realised.
Probably mistlands, most forgettable biome
apparently if you put two Mysterious Rocks near eachother you have a 33% chance per day to produce a pickable stone.
Nice, will be scatting them around my most used bases
I got 3 and just stored them lol
Oh, so it's an item also
You find and pick it in the wild and then you can place it as a build piece (if you add coal) ๐
Will it spawn in already explored terrain?
No sadly, you have to find new areas
Ok, I might need more Tars anyway lol
Should I be looking for a specific biome?
I explored two entire islands without finding it, so now I don't bother
Yep, best is meadows and black forest, it technicaly can also spawn in swamps and mountains but because it has certain height requirements it is extremely rare to find it there
Thanks. Will go find some this weekend
It might appear somewhere someday ๐
Can it even be distinguished from a regular stone on the ground?
Yep, it is larger, smoother and lighter in colour ๐
Curses upon those murderous cockroaches
Does the rock spawn in terrain already explored? Do you need to load new areas for it?
Only in new areas sadly
Hmm, bummer -_-
So that's why I can't find it
Finally found ashvine seeds, and of course they refused to grow... Seem to be extremely sensitive to any form of structure nearby. Is it intended or are they too sensitive?
It's not, people just tend to place it too close to walls because it grows on walls. 1-2m distance works fine.
Basically keep as much space from the wall as you would with any other plant and it should grow without issues
and not under a roof
Aright, I wish they'd simply refuse to get planted if you try to put them too close, I had to tear down half the house to allow it to grow. Only got two damned seeds so not about to let them go to waste ๐
Will planted vines also drop seeds, or do those have to be collected in the wild?
It's been a while for me but as I remember it has chance to drop seeds too
Please correct me if I'm wrong
They can drop seeds too.
Every vineberry cluster you pick has a chance to drop seeds. 20% iirc?
Awesome, that lone plant that survived can help me then!
vineberry are still broken when planted unfortuntely
Farming them in Ashlands is at first more profitable than planting yourself
If you don't get hit, Leather is fine
Troll armor is generally better. It only has 6 less defence but wonโt slow you down.
ive beat it before with full bronze but this time im with a friend and resources are not easy to harvest
what armour would you suggest for bonemass
feel like i can skip bronze armour fully
Troll, root or iron armor
Bronze armor would be pointless because iron armor is better and doesnโt slow you any more
you can. Troll is enough for elder and Bonemass if you use an appropriate shield, as is root armor.
I'd skip heavy armor until the silver tier
got it, is bronze buckler shield good?
okay thats fantastic
If you're decent at parrying
i see...
If you're not you can do okay with an upgraded bone tower shield too
The bronze shield is good if you want to parry. If you do not want to parry use no shield or the bone tower shield.
i see
whats the best weapons for bonemass and tree boss?
i know clubs and maces do extra damage to bonemass
Any bronze weapon is good for the elder, but for bonemass youโll want an iron mace
ive been thinking about using fire arrows for elder
fire arrows work
okay thats good
iron mace, ill keep that in mind thanks
i swear i used to get ancient seeds from shamans, did they change it to only drop from the spwaners?
They drop from greydwarf brutes and greydwarf spawners
The shamans drop bukeperries
My friend and I will probably start another playthrough soon, does anyone know if a big update is happening within a month or 2? I donโt wanna start a world if weโre gonna need to make a new world for the new stuff
ah, gotcha
You've never needed to make a new world to get access to new stuff
the new stuff is likely endgame
New content generates in unexplored areas
I meant biomes
the answer remains the same
Really?
it's like minecraft
as long as you haven't explored your entire map new biomes will generate in unexplored areas
Thatโs pretty cool
A placeholder version of the deep north is generated in existing worlds
what purpose does a tamed boar serve?
I havenโt played Minecraft for years lol, looks like a entirely different game
You can farm them for easy meat and leather
can it pull carts? does it do anything other than being used for food
Cool little guy
you can breed and butcher them for easy access to mats
Guard dog
Just like Minecraft in the way new content generates in existing worlds, not overall.
oh
boars no, wolves, lox and askvin also have combat value and lox & asksvin are ridable
i mean it's alright... thought it could be used to pull cars are something
Two star boars are good guard animals in meadows
Just donโt let them get near the necks
oh why
Because theyโll hurt the necks
wish Valheim added some QoLs
after playing grounded it feels too difficult and tedious
Heh.
You can adjust world modifiers to make combat easier or increase loot
no like i press a button to deposit my things in chests
instead of going to them 1 by 1, or being able to craft things without taking them out of chests
press and hold E and it will stack any mats that are already in the chest
but only 1 chest :(
Build bigger chests ๐
i mean i have like 30 different chests for stone, flint, wood, finewood, corewood, metal etc
I usually have 1 BM chest per biome and that's enough for solo play
Why?
feels better to sort it that way, but comes with a price unfortunately
and I've only got access to small chests for now
Seems like you've made your own problems.
no no, it's just I'm a bit dependent on QoLs
the normal chest only has 8 slots anyways
I mean, deposit-all and crafting from chests is nice but i don't consider it a requirement
it's just a little something
Difficult to let go off when you're used to it though, i had the same issue after playing Grounded and then Valheim
oh right, 10
still not a lot imo
yeah I started Valheim first, didn't feel much but then after playing grounded it feels really tedious
It's enough if you're not even at iron yet.
i see..
It's mostly a matter of efficiently organising what you have so you don't have to visit a dozen chests after every trip
People do seem to become hoarders in this game and I don't know why.
I'm a hoarder in every survival game.
I'd rather take an extra trip back to base to empty my inventory than drop anything unless it's truly worthless
People hoard items because they know they will need them again at some point in the game.
That too. Leather scraps and bone fragments are a good example of that.
do i need bronze pickaxe for progression
No, but it will make gathering more bronze and iron much faster
oh, i thought i just pick up iron
not really, but unless you plan to skip the bronze tier entirely and go straight for the iron one it'll save you time to craft one
scrap iron from swamp dungeons
You do need to mine the muddy scrap piles in swamp dungeons, so you need a pickaxe for that
the antler one works, but you'll need to run out of the crypt to repair fairly often and they do less damage
an upgraded bronze one will last you through 99% of sunken crypts easily
ah got it
@teal sparrow #screenshots message
whoa!! did you use crystal walls to get this effect?? This looks so cool!
Seems like it. Cool look.
When building docks or bridges, it's probably best to use stone because wood just wears away fast right?
Do boats even need docks?
Water damage wonโt bring a build piece below 50% health
Personal opinion, wood will only go to50% health then stop
No, you can leave them at a beach
And that won't damage the boat?
Maybe once when landing but after that it should be ok
Thank you all so much!
Aright, tonight's the night - I'll get flametal or die trying!
(many times)
Ooh shite, I decided to check my skills before I start dying. Run, Jump, Swords and Pickaxes at 100. Bows running up at 97. I'll miss these levels later...
Blocking is just 54, it just rises slowly I guess. Been sword'n board most of this character's life. 1100 days and counting
I reccomend leaving it like 10 meters from shore and swimming, will protect it from certain enemies
Or beach specifically in meadows, then put down a campfire
Or just leave the area quickly, mobs can't damage the boat if you aren't close enough (within a 100 meters or so?) to keep the area "active".
What is the proc chance per skill for cooking?
Starting to really dislike the rng around it. Just done a major cooking effort - exactly 100 meals cooked, got exactly 0 procs. Skill is at 34.
I think it goes up to 25%
So if it is proportional to skill level I should have around 8% proc chance at lvl 34. Getting 0 out of 100 (120 now, made another two stacks) is really shitty luck. Not a fan of rng ๐
Mountains at night after killing queen is a constant mob deathmatch. Fenrigs, golems, fulings and seekers duking it out non-stop, with a drake swooping in now and then. Oddly, barely a single wolf in three nights.
What are the odds of a Flametal spire NEVER sinking? I just cleared one off completely and the empty rock is still sitting there - no movement..
With my typical luck it will sink at first hit now that I'm going for my first vein. That's how leviathans have always been, one swing and shakey-shakey, FU puny viking I'm outta here!
Either a glitch or due to it being โconnectedโ to land outside the lava maybe?
I read on the interwebs that it is a certain % chance per pickaxe hit that it starts sinking, so with luck that check can fail every time. Kinda like me cooking 120 bleeding foods without cooking proccing once...
Ah. I played Ashland last year and the spire was guaranteed to sink
Whatever I read was not much newer, so - as with all info from the interwebs - should be taken with a sack of salt
I have mined like 10 and only had one sink
It's still a percentage chance, it's just much lower than it was.
Well feck, of course I fell into the lava and died
Average flametal mining experience
Just slid off the basalt platform, panicked and...yeah
Ah well, got just over 60 ore, do they smelt in regular smelter or the blast furnace?
Blast furnace
Aaaah dude ๐
Itโs a thing - the flametal is quite likely to not sink if you are lucky
Iโve mined 4 pillars recently and only 1 sank
Thanks, off to get the mats for one. With a stone portal I can bring the ore to a safer place after, right?
Yup ๐
Best plan of action
Yeah I'm not trying to ship it out on that bloody marble barge
Oh gods, gotta sail it out anyway, forgot the blast furnace requires 10 iron. Poop.
seeing as i have a foothold in the mountains i need to ask
whats the ideal player kit setup for moder
assuming i run heavy armor
Moder likes to fly around and breathe stuff at you, then land and try to bite. So a bow with high damage arrows - obsidian for example - and whatever melee setup you like using.
Didn't you say you had the mats for a stone portal?
also havent seemed to unlock alot of new foods since i got to the mountains
just onions and like wolf meat
did food setups change?
Haven't unlocked the recipe, so I assume it requires flametal, which I need to smelt before I can use it...
It doesn't, but you need 2 iron for a stone cutter
Got a stone cutter, but I haven't unlocked the stone portal, so something is still missing
stone what now
Stone crafting table
Probably, but you can find everything you need in the ashlands
Ah right, assuming something from the charred fortresses? I've roamed a bit and there are none nearby, I'm just gonna ship the first haul out to get some flametal smelted and unlock stuff.
it requires grausten, molten cores and greydwarf eyes. Molten cores can be gotten from fortresses and Morgen caves
Thanks, haven't seen either nearby so yeah, shipping it is..
Also a stonecutter, but you can get iron from Morgen caves too (in small quantities, but you only need 2)
Morgen caves just look like grausten rocks from a distance. Look for bones around them
Morgen caves are quite common
Found some bone places, but they only had volture eggs
They are like the grausten version of troll caves
oh theres a butchers table now
thats why my food games been lacking
Oh that's been around for ages
Eh, fairly new.
Is it? Mistlands at least?
bog witch
Nah that was the food preparation table
ah right, my bad
That's presumably what they mean.
Makes sense
hi derek
I still think it is weird that one of very few food recipes that are (or at least should not be) not heated during preparation was NOT moved to the food preparation table. Salad... really, really should be made on that table, not in the cauldron.
Not going to argue there.
Doesn't matter one bit, but it still bugs me.
Presumably, the only reason the food prep table exists is that it felt weird to use the cauldron to prepare "uncooked" dough and other stuff for the oven. The poor old salad was just forgotten...
Gods, why do my wolves insist of hanging around in the staircase? Sometimes I just can't get down or up without going outside and climb the damn building..
realistic dog AI?
100%
Every time the Valheim fluffs annoy me, I think of my real world pooch and yeah, they are eerily similar!
As i said before ๐ they have the "being an obstacle" part of wolf AI really realistic xD
Definitely. I had a huge black German shepherd dog once, almost 30 years ago, and he had black belt 8th Dan at lying around wherever I needed to go and having me tripping over him. We also had a cat at that time, and they weren't really on speaking terms. So every time I stumbled over the dog, the cat used it as an excuse to attack him. Poor pooch, he was too well trained to retaliate, so he just took it and looked at me with sad eyes. I was on his side mind you, the cat was brought into the family by the Unmentionable Other One I am no longer married to. Not valheim related really, but by the gods if the Valheim wolves could be all black they would be HIM!
i am now out of arrows and a single pixel health drake is harassing me
i cant land a hit
๐
smoked both a golem and a wolf, he still wont leave
find an overhang or slap down a quick wood shack if you have mats. They'll try to get LoS on you and get in range of your melee weapons (might require jumping)
luckily i was just flattening ground for building, so a portal was close by
i just wanted to see if i could deal with it w/o a bow
i was just worried itd break the portal while i was gone restocking
zone gets unloaded when you leave, so if it doesn't get destroyed when you're stepping in it won't until you come back
honestly im not even sure why im building here considering this isnt even my moder spawn
all my bosses always seem to spawn on the other edge of the gods damn universe
or atleast the map revealed ones
eh, i have a ton of outposts that only exist because i though it was a cool build spot
i needed 20+ hours to find the Bog Witch in one of my worlds. ~18 of those were spend building a tower on a biome border between mountains, plains and swamp i got distracted by while sailing past ๐
where even does the bog witch spawn
swamps
ive found haldor and his sister
Swamp, between 3000 and 8000 meters from the world center.
who managed to put her shop in meadows right next to a plains, and ALSO right next to a fuling camp
having 4 fuling berserkers roll up when i go to buy stuff is always fun
And only in ones that were not discovered before bog witch update
That's why she has a shield.
yeah but i cant put a portal in there
That's why I build a harbour away from base, instead of inside said base, and I make a cute lil road leading to it.
Yep, good method!
Hard agree
im at a lvl 3 cauldron now and i still havent unlocked any recipes involving fish
Have you made the food preparation table?
yes
With that you prepare fish to raw fish
i have different bait types but no actual use for fish meat
That should do the trick
maybe my viking is just stupid?
Did you make the raw fish?
Could be... But if you use the food prep table to turn fish into raw fish meat you should be able to cook it after
yes i have
ill go try it again, maybe it just didnt take
Did you make barley flour yet?
that i have not, im still in mountains stage
cook raw fish on cooking station
That will unlock more recipes using raw fish then ๐
The few recipies involving fish require cooked fish - so just cook the raw ones over fire.
ive had cooked fish in my pocket and still nothing, must just be barley
Yeah, before you have flour the only use for fish is eating it cooked as is
The only meals that use generic fish are fish wraps and sailor's bounty, so probably
fishings mostly useful for meads
its not too big a problem, im just waiting for onions to propogate enough to actually use
i only found 4 seeds so i need to grow a handful of generations before i can start using spares
Fish wraps are a decent plains food if you have lots of fish and flour
They look hella delicious too
if not for the human (?) entrails i would absolutely have some sausages
Yeah, I suppose (slightly?) undead vikings don't mind, but I would not make sausages out of zombie guts, personally
Not while there are boars around anyway
this makes me think of an interesting challenge
is it possible to beat valheim as a vegan
Alright new base built
no meat or meat based foods
I thing there are some veggie runs already
How do I transport a wolf a long distance
By boat.
Take it on a boat. Have fun. ๐
What about food wonโt food drop through the boat?
(For a real challenge, take 8 wolves on a boat!)
You don't need to feed them constantly, only when you want them to breed after they're tamed.
They WILL fall in - but don't panic, they swim good and have unlimited stamina, just sail slow enough so they can follow.
You don't need to feed wolves once tame.
Iโve only got the one wolf rn (I named it ghost after John snows)
Wait really? What happens if they donโt eat at all
they don't regen health
Oh I see
They get hungry, don't regen health and will not breed
Iโm too scared to take my wolf out to battle in the plains anyway so heโs more of just a house dog who eats a lot of food up
Knowing that I can let him starve is actually great now
That's how most of us use them I think..
Once you've got a breeding pair set up they're pretty much expendable
Heโs just a cute puppy I canโt let him die to deathsquitos :(
No such thing as an expendable puppy :(
They died honorably in battle and went to Valhalla. In my headcanon Odin's random appearances are him collecting fallen doggos and taking them over personally.
i still need to get some tamed boars for the sake of mass producing of sosigs
genuinely a goated food
I have ~100 2* Wolves as my base defense. Wouldn't say they are not expandable. ๐ฅธ
This is brilliant, now I need to see someone draw this
... now i do too
gentle death is kinda that though
or whatever that old webcomic was
ah, loving reaper
there's a webcomic about Odin taking dog souls to Valhalla?
no, the grim reaper taking animal souls to the afterlife
hes kind about it
similar premise
huh... that sounds kinda neat
id show you some snippets but i lack image perms
just google loving reaper youll find it fast
back to flattening the top of this mountain to build... something
i never plan these builds they just kinda happen
No-one does in this channel.
i do have to admit im only working up here to attract wolves for pelts and a meat stockpile
and golems for shards
mining attacts mobs more quickly i think?
It has very big noise radius ๐
id like a raid summoning flare for the sake of getting more resources
having a ghost raid happen was nice, hand delivered chains to my front door!
actually the griefing potential would be too great i fear
the ability to summon endgame mobs to someones front door would be too abusable
it'd be peak PVP content though
Anyway my first flametal vein never sank, got 77 ore and only died three times ๐
Ugh, I wish the skill drain would be relative to the amount of experience needed to gain it, not just a flat percentage of what you have. Dying at high levels is so bleeding costly.
You can turn it down if you want to ๐
Nah, I'm playing it as intended for now. Just providing some whingy feedback!
๐
But, thinking about it - that is probably by design and working well. When you're a freshie and barely have any skills, dying is common but barely has any effect anyway. When you're all grown up and know your shit, dying should be less common and hence WHEN it happens it hits home the harder for it. I'm just bitter that on this character I have ONE single death to mobs, all other deaths have been to environment and stupidity. Jumping off my tower five times, lava three times, drowning once (don't even remember, I must have been drunk) burned by fireplace once and last but not least, killed by Yaggy once.
Oh yes, my greatest enemy in the whole world of Valheim (and outside too xD)
My own dumbass
#1 cause of death for me? Forgetting i took off my feather cape ๐
๐ค
usually causes a few deaths whenever i start a new world too
Sounds like you need to unlearn bad jumping habits ๐
someone get on it
How can I get rocky ??
You find mysterious rock on the ground, look in Meadows and Black forest as there is the greatest chance to find it, it has to be more than 1000m from the world centre and only in areas not discovered before April 1st ๐
Oof ok ok . Does it say mysterious rock like the ores ?
It looks like bigger, smoother stone that is lighter in color, and just like normal stones it is pickable ๐
Oh ok ok. They said it will be gone soon. Do we know how soon that is ?
They meant the chance to get the plushie Rocky will be gone ๐ the in game one will most likely stay
Oh I see ๐คฃ. Ok ok thanks a lot for helping me. Have a nice day ๐

yes there is someone who had Spanish interested in opening a world tomorrow, who writes to me
Hi everyone,
My friend and I started the game yesterday and spiced up the gameplay with a few mods, but for some reason ValheimRAFT isnโt working properly in multiplayer. Has anyone else had a similar issue?
Probably best to ask in #mods-issues for mod problems.
thanks
Why is it that - the askvin does not melt in lava but if you are wearing an askvin set (made out of their hide) you become charcoal
Flametal armor is the heat resistant one
You still become charcoal, but slower
At least slower as that piece of boar meat you forgot to take off of the cooking station........
Seeker Meat is something I intentionally burn because it makes a great coal source tbh.
Very plentiful
Video game logic
Because the hide just stops the surface burns.
Your insides still get cooked and boil due to the heat.
Asksvin insides are different than yours and therefore do not boil.
Do meat items turn into coal 1:1 in obliteration?
best part of hardcore runs is how many fun bases I get to make in new meadows areas
itโs like a new sculpture every run
holes
What material should I use to build a base in the plains?
Wood is scarce, so maybe stone?
All matters of "should" are your personal choice and there is no wrong answer.
Also you can go elsewhere to get asstons of wood and just portal it back.
Wood is never scarce ๐
is there a mod that adds primary attacks to sledge hammers?
Is there a flat roof?
yes and no you can use the stone floor as roofing, need some support usually
what about wood?
no flat wood roof
rip
You can do it with wood, but it doesn't count as a roof-piece so it will get damaged by rain eventually.
With the slits and holes in it? That's your roof? ๐ฌ
is it normal to have dandelion growing through my floor?
dandelions grow wherever they want
just put the 26ยฐ roofs between two layers of wood floors. Upper floors will decay in rain but everything under it will be sheltered and it only raises your building height by 1m.
...
Might get used to being that in Valheim as well over time....
Not really? Every new biome after BF is hard when you get there first, but once you get some gear upgrades and learn the proper tactics they become reasonably comfortable to navigate imo.
Ashlands has low visibility and a higher enemy frequency than you're used to, but once you get some gear upgrades and figure out how to fight them effectively it's no different.
And for Ashlands specifically you can just replace "learn the proper tactics" with "Trollstav & SotW"
I've been there in the PTB, so I know what Ashlands is like. And it's a lot easier now as it was then.
I've also seen how people keep making the same mistakes in Ashlands and thus keep dying over and over again.
But what I meant was in general.
There simply are players who keep making the same mistakes. Entering a new biome, after trashing the monsters of their previous one, then thinking they can deal with everything that's ahead of them and forgetting about being a bit more careful.
So they come in, "guns blazing" and yelling 'Leroy Jenkins', 'Geronimo', 'Gung Ho!' or whatever, only to be killed by the very first group of monsters they encounter.
And then you see posts like this: "OMG! Those greydwarves are so annoying!" (after entering the BF from the Meadows.
"Swamp is too hard. The Draugr archers kill me in a single shot!"
"What's wrong with the Wolves? They oneshot me after they staggered me."
"Fuling swarm is so annoying! They keep circling around you and then another one kills you from behind!"
"Mistlands is so annoying! You can't see shit and before you know it you're killed by seekers or an army of ticks! And that horny floating brain is burning the shit out of me!"
So for that kind of players, learning to be a victim in this game is something they should do.
Bit hard to do until you have found the right items for that.
fair enough
And on top of that, Ashlands can be very rough at the start, or very easy. It all depends at where you land.
I've seen players struggling through their landings because they were unlucky enough to land close to a Charred spawner, a Volture spawner and a burning forest.
But I've also seen players having an easy landing with barely any monsters nearby, a Dvergr outpost not too far from where they landed and enough room to set up a temporary base by raising some land to make it (near) inaccessable for the biome's monsters.
Argh, my ash swine won't mate. One stands sulking in a corner while the other one is constantly running around like a hyperactive puppy
Quite well put, but you forgot: "What's wrong with these necks in Meadows? They just swarm you and nibble you to death!"
Joking, but those people usually have no patience to prepare meads, better foods and more upgraded gear to make the next biome easier to conquer. Many cases of those are still using Mountain/Plains tier foods when going in Ashlands lol.
Well, that's a fact for sure.
I've seen players enter the plains while still using a combo of cooked meat, sausages and honey.
Then running in a village and wondering why they weren't able to block a common club-Fuling's hit.....
And no, I'm not a good player. Above average, perhaps, but certainly not good.
And I can say that, given that in my last play session I was able to drain 3 tar pits close to one another after sniping off the growths, yet died of a Fuling (which turned out to be a 1-star) because I lost sight of him while trying to deal with the spear throwing Fulings.
Which I decided to take out first when I got killed by one not that long before, when trying to deal with a sword wielding Fuling.
Which I wanted to kill first, because previously I got killed by one of them after dealing with a torch wielding Fuling.
And all that within 90 minutes.......
My only "excuse" for that happening to me, I'm playing at Hard and although I made it to the plains, I'm still not used to the extra damage the monsters do at that level.
Which also means, Mistlands is going to be "fun". ๐
I still haven't died to enemies in Ashlands, I'm being overcautious and have quickly used up my stores of frost arrows. But damn you die quickly in the lava - no headroom for sloppy jumping there, gotta stay focused...
I quite like morgens, they are fun to fight.
Hmm, which reminded me that I have had my Hard preset run on pause for a long time. Maybe I should continue that.
Does anyone play valheim in polish?
Someone in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510 might.
Can you dig under/out a sealed tower and make it blow up?
No, I'd keep sliding off the keys.
I wouldn't understand a word if I did.
Jk, Thorin linked a channel where you can search Polish people to play with.
Ash swine ๐
Agreed with all this
What did you think Asksvin meant?
I never really bothered to translate ๐คญ
did you by any chance check if both are dudes? ๐
u need a mountain mob drop for eye scream
almost useless after you maxed the armor set, you'll need small amounts for some later weapon and if you want for some purely aesthetic craftables from traders
edit actually a single later weapon: ||you'll need 10 total to max the swamp-tier spear||
troll hides aren't treasures
nope, you can sell just gems, amber and silver necklaces
like... throw away ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ
you don't have to keep everything you find, later in game you'll be able to craft a station that turns eccess materials into coal
boy that thing is such a waste of time ngl when u can burn wood stacks for 50 coal
it isn't an island.
this said i always keep a good amount of everyithng stored somewhere beacause the game isn't finished yet and you never know (still imo unlikely for troll hide to turn useful in future but not impossible)
If you have surplus of coins buy lots and lots of fishing bait and turn them all into coal, lol.
right, but if you really don't want to throw anything away for some reason, that's the only alternative with a small bit of use
i rather spend my money on spices or mead bases ngl
yeh after bog witch update coin surplus is much less of an issue for most players (me included), but not for all eheh
especially when it seems that the areas with money are earlygame, and endgame u do not get a lot to make coins with.
so you either move back to dark forest, swamps or plains and farm fulings
oh i made quite a good amount of gold later than that (||emptying infested mines in mistlands||)
okay idk what would be there to make money off. and i be honest, i rather go to the other places than look for those in there
You need 900 gold to fill Obliterator full with bait. I have many chests full of gold in my current main world so gold is not an issue lol.
That is mainly how I've acquired my chests of gold.
yeh it's literally ||coin piles you can pick up in mines' secret chambers||
you are the 1% ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ
I know, maybe should have clarified "my chests".
oh yeah. well. have come across 2 in 2 biomes, so ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ
1% of what?
that's all about RNG, i found a lot in a couple ml patches, literally doubled up my treasure room
eheh you did! i meant they're tons of coins ||138.5 avg per pile i checked||
I feel like that's such an explout myself, I just don't use that "feature"
nah me neither, actually never crafted one, but i kinda feel the itch when i have to throw away stuff (maybe also running a bit afar to allow despawn) so i can understand some might find it useful
I meant burning 50 wood into 50 coal. It feels like it shouldn't be possible.
But yeah, I also don't really use the obliterator, I just pollute the closest ocean ๐คฃ
oh that, uhm i'm actually enjoying it (it's the first time i try a seed with fire hazards turned on) but yeh, it could be a bit of an exploit ๐
i consider it a qol balance for the risk of burning down my house (piling excuses ofc)
why is it an exploit. burnt wood turns into coal
It's no problem in Ashlands where things set to fire.
it could be seen as an exploit because it's really fast in comparison to what the game balance asked before that (charcoal kiln pace), anyway no big deal for me jk
Just my POV, I think it's chill if anyone else uses it.
I feel like it makes sense to have the chore of making coal, which is what kilns are for, using a match to instantly transform 100kg of wood into coal within 30 seconds bypasses that chore a lot, I just personally prefer using the intended way, if that makes sense.
Just me ๐คทโโ๏ธ
I think it could work with single wood items maybe, and it stops working when it's a stack of 2 or more.
I think there's already a mechanic that does that, remember reading it on the wiki but I don't remember what it is
