idk i had a better time as mage vs my melee buddies
Do you utilise protection staff?
being able to parry with blood shield with any attack goes rlly hard
but is it actually a parry tho
i only have 12 blood magic so its not really useful
doesnt the parry still make your shield take the full damage?
yea, tho you can utilize staggering something for either more dmg or to make space
You have to time it and enemy goes to stagger if they are not imune, seems like parry to me
handy on the morgs i suppose
Levels are not really that needed
pretty much. idk if it buffs up ur blocking skill, but u can parry any attack without needing to worry about ur stagger bar or hp ratio
How about weapons, which staff do you use? Do you have backup melee weapon for dire situations?
OK grausten is niiiiice
the fire staff and demolisher
if you mean for building, try to damage the wall like 30% or so, it cretes great cracs in it
As mage it is important to keep some distance from enemies and throw those fire balls at them. Some mobility doesn't hurt either, so Ratatosk and Lightfoot meads are really useful for that.
Oooo, ill check it out
Dead Raiser goes a LONG way to helping you keep distance
Having some skeletons with shield bubbles can help keeping enemies occupied at them so you can hurl those fire balls at the enemies.
dont they just die instantly
You can cast shield bubble at them.
And they are NOT basic skellies
Even just getting your enemy to stand over there for a couple attacks and maybe getting a couple hundred damage, they've given you space
They have more hp and damage than normal skeletons you have met earlier. The damage scales with the blood magic skill lvl.
the skellies are a bit tricky, you need time to summon them, so dont do it if you are already swarm by enemies
ice staff is pretty good for raw damage. it gets a lot better if you can stagger an enemy, though more for single target
also is nice for the fire slimes
Yeah, summoning them beforehand not during fight.
dead raiser is all fun and games till they wander in lava or water for some reason haha
Some enemies in Ashlands also deal friendly fire, so you can also use that for your advance.
you know that, but the new guy probably not 😉
Yeah, that's why I clarified that.
to help out with precasting dead raiser, and just recharging in general i suppose, you can either place a campfire and sit down to rest, or go to a place/home that has shelter so u can just walk in and get rested. ur eitr will recharge incredibly fast
The deadraiser if kinda.... meh, the best staves from mistlands are protection + embers, folowed by frost and then deadraiser
Eh, if you sprint a lot spelling will fall too far behind to help, BUT I'm also pretty solid at maintaining distance in chaos, so depending on your dodge skill, summoning in combat is fine
yeah practicality of dead raiser gets better if you farm levels for blood magic cuz of protection staff, but otherwise ur best off goin ham
Honestly real, if you get lucky and get a melee and a ranged skelly though
Ranged skellies are nice
True true 🙂
What i REALLY want is the verger healing staff
Progressing in the ashland is annoying because I feel like its utterly random if you'll be able to actually go forward. For instance, whenever I try to chop down a tree, its likely that somehow the entire forces of mordor will show up to interrupt me. So yeah, I do get something like 10 ashwood but at the same time, I gotta fend monsters for five minutes. If I'm lucky, the fighting wont attract tyranids or something.
That's quite natural: chopping wood produces noise and noise attracts enemy mobs nearby.
Im gon be honest with you, it doesnt happen as much in any other areas than the ashlands.
Tbf, ashlands are cranked up to 11
its quite hard to follow your vocabulary, but if you mean morgen, he can help a lot with chopping
morgen?
Giant rolly polly bone spider
I mean why is he talking about those?
Chopping and Mining makes 100m (of noise)
Morgen are rolling menaces for trees/buildings/boulders.
I know, but I'm generally more concerned about me when I'm seeing those.
He's probably trying to work out what you meant by tyranids.
I was just trying to be funny with this. Tyranids are numerous nasty beasts.
But not in this game.
Honestly, the thing with the ashlands is that they're just straight up much higher octane then the prior zones. They can definitely make you feel the skill gap, much like when you first experience swamps
I guess it didnt land. I was just saying that theres a lot of enemies in the ashlands, sometime to a ridiculous amounts.
if you havent try first public test, you dont know what ridiculous amount means 😄
That it was worse before doesnt mean is good now
How bad was it? I need to knowewww
I know what "ridiculous" is. I play other games. Serious Sam for instance.
than check some streamers from first days
Yes, a very similar game.
Yeah I always whip out my minigun in the ashland
that would be so awesome
A lot more mobs and they were atracted to you even by noise you didnt personally make 🙂 tho it was still entirely doable, i am quite sad they were nerfed
frost staff appreciates the compliment
We have shotgun 😄 enough for me
I forget that the staves are basically guns in this game
the first patch was ok, it was a bit too much, but later nerf was not necessary in my opinion as well
The thing with the ashlands is that you REALLY need to be on top of your game., for me a big part of the answer to that has been mods so that I can extend my interest in loot and go beyond the devs intentions. But for vanilla ashlands you need to squad up, or be ON TOP OF IT.
I mean, it's completely do-able solo, like the rest of the game.
Oh 100% but you can't be a slouch. That's what I meant by on top of your game
Also was doable solo before nerf
true ashlands don't mess around
Oh, absolutely. Now it's still tough and you can't just charge in and expect to live.
What a weird response.
its not tough anymore
Oh, it is. Just not as tough as it was before.
Well i mean... Technically you can charge in and expect to live 😄 but your expectation will be quickly corrected
What I think yall missing is that when people complain about the ashland, they are saying they don't find it fun. Yes, it is doable solo. I did it solo. I didn't find it fun initially and it took a long time for me to start liking it occasionally. Its the same for the Mistlands. I hate that place even though now I am no longer scared of it.
Of course you won't find it fun if your approach is completely wrong.
Perhaps these players that are complaining missed a detail, or werent used to certain gameplay elements. I don't know. Maybe its their fault. Maybe it wasnt clear enough that they could use these features, etc etc.
what do you like complainboy? meadows?
Easy now
yes
Nah, that's uncalled.
is being rude the default culture, here?
No, fortunately not.
This is where a different discussion comes into play.
You sadly won't get much support up here for mentioning zones may have flaws lol
Huh, of course you will. I don't think there's a perfect biome in the game.
Tbf, I do love the ashlands, it's exactly what I want out of a biome. I however HATE the mistlands with a passion because of the mists
Well im not the only one saying that. And as ive seen, there's many players pointing these flaws. The best yall could do is at least listen, because there might be some truth to it. Maybe the ashland is tuned the right way and the problem is elsewhere. I dont know.
Personally I enjoy the ashlands a lot, but sometimes I'll skip eikthyr for shits and giggles.
heh, its minor, but one of the thing that irked me when I started in the ashland is just how much the fire resistance potion was of little use.
I seriously expected it would help, with all the lava
oh yeah i never thought about that
I guess lava isnt technically fire
Maybe it has an upgraded version?
lava does true damage until u step out then it's fire dot leftover im pretty sure
i hated ashland when it came out, not couse of the difficulty, but i just expected something else from mobs. now i just enjoy the view, the lava and buildings are beautiful and now you have actually time to enjoy it. there have been big progress on fps performance, even tho it still lags much more than other bioms.
Which kinda makes sense thematically.
angry forsaken fire
Now im wondering if standing next to a burning viking can provide a rest bonus
rest asured, there is no rest asured
Well considering that said viking can be cold while on fire i would say no...
OK, now that's funny.
I feel like I'm in a souls game now lol
i do like that the charred warriors fake you out. that's the funniest shit to me
Oh, completely unrelated. I wish that the "wet" debuff was applied progressively rather than be slapped with 2 minutes drenching wet because you were exposed to the rain for a second.
I dunno, dead vikings tends to turn into tombstones
Hard to chew
that sounds kinda nice. if u care 'nuff ya should slap it in the suggestions chat
with the power of pressing e, you could conjure potential food from said tombstone though
Honestly I prefer to just say whatever's on my mind. This server is a bit too adversarial with whatever I wish.
Don't the devs kindof avoid that chat after a bunch of people got WAY too forceful with it?
forceful? im not sure what that means
Smiffe has mostly noped out of responding, but still reads it.
Join us on the dark side, mod the game lol
Pfft.
This saddens me
eh... I dont like modding games.
And I mean, the rain annoys me but its not enough for me to go ahead and mod it out or something.
For me it's an important part of extending the longevity of the games I love. And typically you find mods to add things, like cloaks with the waterproof modifier, backpacks, or more loot
i don't really care much for it, tho i don't do it on first playthrough. if something sounds interesting then i'll probably check it out (like lethal company, tho i like both versions)
praise vanilla valheim for world settings
Or craft from chest!
really has been a nice time farming stuff with x2 resource, though it still feels strange getting used to plucking a mushroom and 2 pop out (brother in arms they rise they die together, in my belly 🫡)
all time favorite lol
I think the reason I dont like to mod games is because I like to talk about them with the same context in mind. I don't know if that makes sense.
Eh, that's vanilla though, not modded.
yeah that makes sense
I make an exception for Morrowind though. This game is a mess and anyone playing it should absolutely get the unofficial patch.
Valid, I always recommend an initial playthrough in vanilla so you can see the experience the devs intended, and then after that I add things to my liking
yeah that was mostly just me talking about a different thing suddenly, and vanilla valheim is mostly wanted here too. haven't checked out valheim mods but eventually i'll prolly will
you still dont know the game properly, unless you try multiple weapons, combat styles etc 😉
90% of the things that were modded back in the early days of the game have either been fixed or added to the game. Frankly a lot of what is in mods now just stops the game being the game.
that's awesome
I am a gear slut lol. I tend to sample the whole platter
"I enjoy all the meats of our cultural stew!"
oh yea world settings used to be modded stuff some time ago right? i came around when ashlands was releasing in like a week
I dont think I ever used polearms
Craft from chest, more creatures, more gear, more..... well almost anything
Crafting from chest is usually a bad mechanic in multiplayer
None of which the game needs in the slightest.
Why?
Oh wait no, nvm, I can see why.
That's where we disagree.
It's very easy to use up resources.
in moderation it's kinda okay. necesse is nice quality of life for it, though it's a game similar to terraria
Only there?
just don't over use stuff for yourself and think of others/replenish what u took
Lag from synchronizing multiple chests on interaction. See any game that mods it in and where crafting from chests is banned on multiplayer, e.g. Terraria or Conan
Same with valheim
Oh probably in a lot of places, I probably put you right behind sev in people I dislike here, but id rather not antagonize others for no reason
Imagine a server where every time a player touches a chest or bench, it opens the whole storage room to full sync
Gosh, you wouldn't even make my top 10.
you two need a room 😂
I mean, you've spent A LOT more time in this server then I have? And I try not to be snide
Valheim multiplayer couldn't handle bronze age storage with crafting from chests mods
I've been here since 2021 if that's what you mean, yeah.
What did I ever do to you?
Definitely, I don't even know how low you'd place on the full list
when you say crafting from chests(:? ;? i dunno which punctuation fits there) do you mean like you're at a crafting bench and you can pull resources from nearby chests, or you can open a chest and have a crafting menu like as if you were in a workbench?
Full list of what?
:
he is enjoying to be hated 😄
)
we now make a smiley face
:)
What if you could link a chest to a crafting station?
Not remotely.
Both. They cause the same problem of expanding and synchronizing inventories between multiple players.
I was answering which punctuation 😭
We disagree a lot, you come off like youre looking down your nose at people a lot, and on a certain level youve reached the "i enjoy disliking you" plateau, where it's almost more friendly hate lol
too bad you fell for my trap 😏
thx for the clarification tho
The only context in which I look down my nose at people is when they are shorter than I am.
People i dislike, although calling it a list is a bit misleading since I don't track them for the most part I just ignore those people
i will throw out there that lack of tone really throws stuff off. i dunno if it'd change much or everything, but irl probably would have different effects
Could work better, but it would start to play like Factorio/Satisfactory with virtual belts (both games are optimized for this problem though)
theres many people in here who just like to argue with players and disagree with just about everything
well, back to my flesh rippers ashland, have fun guys
I'd kill for this. Soulmask has probably my favorite inventory management system
Well I was more thinking like a new chest type called "craftsman chest" or something and a given crafting station can link itself to one of them.
Decent chance, there's also just that everyone speaks differently. It's why I try not to treat people I dislike differently
Yeah, the concept is perfomant with limits. If we could spam the chest as in valheim, it could still cause problems. Factory games solve the problem by carefully limiting how many links/storage units can exist in a given area (i.e. cannot clip chests to cram more).
good lad
Satisfactory has no such limits on how many of anything you can build in any area 😂
Factorio is the better example I think (for performance)
Honestly I think my biggest ask of the game would be for progression to make old chores easier, more things like the scythe.
My favorite example of this being dragon quest builders 2
But, I'm not big on mass grinds
Grinds? In a game founded on grinding?
Say it ain't so...
Ikik. But I'd rather old grinds get simpler so I can focus on new things lol. It's why I eventually lose interest in a lot of games like satisfactory. The grind IS the game
Suppressing the absolute hatred mentioning that game bubbles up in me 😁
The scythe is probably my favorite single addition to the game because of this
I wish we could use the galdr table to create certain types of seeds like ashtree seeds, or blueberry bush seeds
I wish the Mistlands didn't have copper and iron in it.
Why?
NO, we use the fire staff to light beech trees on fire turning them into ash wood trees!
Reasons to return to previous biomes = good.
Hence why plantable bushes = bad.
I disagree with this😉
Ah, but copper mining is just..... objectively the worst mining
That is false.
I get what you mean. I do wish there were more reasons to go in them biomes, but as of now, we arent getting them and getting these ressources becomes a chore more than anything past a certain point.
What's worse then copper?
All mining is good. 👍
How to connect the carrot farm to boar farm to the wolf farm so that feeding boar with carrots will drop meat for wolves?
i guess wishbone trying to mine a iron scrap pile would be worse than copper
cuz ur always wet, and nighttime would be scary
don't know why you'd be doing that but technically would be there ig
But its also how we can make ceramic ships, build with marble, invoke fire and lightning. But somehow planting a berry bush is something we cannot figure out.
"A game founded and designed on grinding becomes a chore."
?
Naw, copper is the exception, low drop rate, low density, no tricks. It's just pure mind numbingly grind
wishbone is not bad but trying to find Iron without going into a crypt or wishbone is probably the hardest thing to do in the game mining wise
Hell, they could make it that them bushes can only grow in their respective biomes.
Grind? In a game founded on grinding?
Say it ain't so...
I find Iron Mining to be worse, it makes me feel like there are no more Iron Nodes in the terrain and that it was all consumed by some (now dead) faction a long time ago
Carrot output needs a VOP junction to also send seeds to the Chicken farm at intervals.
Copper and Silver are my favorite ores to mine, because it feels like finding something valuable in the terrain where other denizens haven't searched yet
Thanks for the extension to chickens
Now to figure out how to load balance in valheim
Copper and Silver are also dual-resource mining. Can't complain about that because 2 things for the price of one.
silver is funny when u unearth all of it and breaking off some chunks makes the rest crumble down
I religiously pop the Silver Ys
Manifold better.
Some call it overkill, but I call it satisfying
that's what im sayin
Can you build one in valheim? (Serious question)
Honestly if I could pop copper like I can silver i think I'd be happy
What I like to do to get grausten is that I lure lava blobs to rocks and then facehug them to detonate them. Somehow it blows up a ton of underground grausten too. However there was one time where... I dont know what happened, it blew up the entire mountain, but also the entire undergroudn section of it. There was grausten everywhere.
It's way less common, but you CAN
Why is only the one i lowercased 😭😭😭
I try every time
Idk lol
Nope.
Same works with the ruins found all over in Ashlands. Lava blob explodes the foundations underground.
Yeah but in this case, the destruction was huuuuuuge
Grausten is just taking battering ram to one of the buildings and demolishing the bottom floor. Rest pops on its own.
I need to see this and I haven't even gotten to the biome yet, list of Valheim goals increased by 1
grausten popped up in an area about as big as an ashland fortress
Honestly I wouldnt even know how to recreate that.
Also, Trollstav does it too (explodes things underground).
If I ever succeed, I will tell you
When I first saw this used on Stone pillars in the Plains, I literally had to back the video up. I'm glad the 'summon' is not allied because that might temper this item's use (slightly) and prevent all pickaxes from going dull
I found Mistlands more abundant for stone mining. I think Plains pillars have been a little too popular for a while.
You should try it with copper nodes, lol.
Although Yagluth stone pillars are always amazing for stone yields
I didn't know those were breakable
Yagluth blows them up frequently
They no longer are 🙂
Skip Yag, proceed directly to Mistlands 😏
I have been waiting on my buddy before fighting him
Wait what? The stone pillars that look like fingers?
yep
Since when?
I just blew them up two weeks ago
They now have a layer that will not break 🙂
Do they have a terrain interior like Mistlands rocks?
I think one of them can be broken completly, bbut 4 of them cant
Mistlands rocks have awkward raised ground, so they form like a tooth
I think it was before ashlands 🤔 not totaly sure but i also didnt believe it until i tested it
Its not like that, they have breakable interior and unbreakable shell basically 🙂
If that's true, I've been quite unaware of that.
Having trouble imaging that
Will go test it once more just to be sure but i think i remember this one correctly
Should probably test it or watch someone
I can go into vc and stream it if you want
Gotta test it for sure.
How to break the interior of something with unbreakable exterior?
I'd be interested in seeing it
Insult their mother.
In Hugins hints if you want 🙂
Thanks. In meetings atm, so I can't be on voice, but I can watch
Weird. What about pickaxe?
Awesome, thanks for the stream
Explains why I exited the fight with a few stacks of stone too
Now I wonder if I can have Yagluth as a guard doggo for base with a shield generator (base built on top of stone fingers)
Eeeeh, no? Meteors, you would not be able to refill the generator fast enough
RELEASE THE METEOR!
Many shield generators
And where will you get that many bones in a steady suply?
Walking through ashlands
Ashlands throws heaps of bones at you.
Hell you’ll have stacks of bones from chambers and swamps
I kind of wish we had charred bone stacks though
That implies leaving the base and shield generators unattended 🙂
Does yag drop meteors while away?
I thought shield generator doesn't take damage unless loaded in
Otherwise several bases in multiplayer would be destroyed while players offline just by sleeping
Well he might get in few hits when going away or comming in 🙂
True, I guess needs testing if sustainable and how many shield generators would be needed
Or better if teleporting in can avoid alerting yag
Also, bosses dont attack anything but the player faction, so "guard dog" will not do much guarding
Will the fire aoe damage not kill enemies from other biomes?
I dont think he has friendly fire
Eg night seekers
I’ve heard of playing enslaving the god of deers to maximise windmill production but yagluth??
Fader's attacks can kill the enemies, why can't Yags 🤔
Friendly fire wasn't introduced until ashlands
Mythology wise, I believe ||the charred ones and beasts of the land were mostly the target of Fader's ire and malice, so are not allied with him||. Whereas in the plains, ||Fulings and the plains creatures were faithful to Yagluth until the end. Yagluth's beef is with Odin (and you)||
But it used to be even in earlier biomes iirc
Any examples?
Fire that turns Wood Piles into Coal instantly, we call that friendly fire! 🙂
I believe draugr archers could kill other draugr at one point, but that would be years ago
There’s a certain irony in the fact that I’m looking for nearby chatter and can’t find any
I remember when I was quite new to the game and somehow expected those Trolls with a log to deal friendly damage to those nasty Greydwarves that chased me at the same time and boy how I was wrong.

will boars spawn on land that i cultivated/ pathened but havent build any structures
Yep, if there is no player base structure around
Fun game, I got disconnected and now I got no iron items anymore
instead I got a duplicated bow 🙂
and my Iron Key haha fun game
You could try to load backups
Not my server sadly, my friend's internet crashed and we both got screwed
Well, maybe your friend could try load backups then. Does your friend have stable connection (wired cable)?
Spawn in items maybe? 🤔
sylvester stallone looks like an asksvin when you look him up and look at the first photo lol
lol true
Hey y’all I have been out of the loop for a minute, any news on the next biome release or any updates that are coming out next?
No news yet.
There will be one more biome (Deep North) added that is currently in development, and simultaneously with the Deep North will be the 1.0/full release update 🙂 but as Joelkkii said we have no news about when that might be
Sweet looking forward to, is there any expectation of adding any more minor dlc such as the bog witch for example. Or any upcoming updates of adding more to the sea?
Also no news/info unfortunately
There are.
But they're irrelevant
Ah I thought there was some talk about it a while ago hopefully there is hoping to start a new world once the new biome comes out feels like I haven’t played the game in forever
I don’t remember the details, but we did get some dev talk on The Spill, it’s worth the watch (the Valheim parts) if you haven’t seen it already.
#news message <— The Spill
Yo, am I missing something, or is the fracture staff just bad?
Btw they are not DLCs.
If you're using it against ashlands enemies, the problem there is the damage type. It deals a TON of fire damage so hopefully it's useful in deep north.
At level 3 every shot has a total of 432 base damage
Oooo, ok, so it's just didn't have a good show for me
The tooltip on the weapon makes no sense.
Tooltips should all make sense.
hello everyone 🙂
Share your tips and tricks when all the people who say #1024264966712340510 doesn't work show up later 😉😁
It will probably work even better if you help me 😎
My tips: play solo. Problem solved.
Vikings are like monkeys... only together are they real strength! 🙂
Lies. Falsehoods. Deceit.
It's a pity that the troll who was shot by our players does not share your opinion.
Trolls are helpful creatures. Why would you kill? 😭😭
that was a very sad troll
Wiki doesn't tell, so does anyone know the stagger multiplier of Flesh rippers' secondary (kick) attack?
Treat it as an act of mercy on Our part. ps thanks to his skin our characters feel warm in their bottoms
Testing them in Ashlands and work surprisingly well, can stagger warrior with a kick, so I wonder what's the stagger multiplier of it.
The parry multiplier is x6. So I'd imagine the kick one is pretty high as well.
Yeah, I know that. But the stagger multiplier of the kick is still a mystery to me.
How do you guys fortify bases that are on cliffs downhill?
Cause walls are tough to make at that angle and they look bad
Try to create sheer faces mobs can't climb. Or a perimeter trench/moat that works with the hill.
I turn raids off 😉
Scale issue pfft
I’m pretty sure it’s 3x
I’ll check now
Not really.
I can deal with raids. I just choose not to.
Do you have any source to that?
Winters doc is no longer in the pins here. Rip
I was looking into it Joelkkii. Still digging.
@tacit crystal found something you may have seen idk. It's on Reddit in r/Valheim. "Google Spreadsheet Weapon Damage Calculator and More"
Nice doc
Just ask Smiffe to ask the programmers 😏
There's that
I’ve just checked this by reading variables in-game with UnityExplorer
It’s actually 6x
Once y9u get the joten slayer axe is there any point to using the elders power? I down trees in 2 hits with or without the power running
You're dropping oak trees in 2 hits?
Birch. I've never seen enough oak together that elders power would be useful
This is enough to consistently stagger a charred warrior with high skill
When you plant them yourself.
They don't drop seeds often enough for me to build up a forest
Bad luck 😦
Thanks @nocturne wolf and @regal spoke! Yeah I was quite consistently staggering them warriors so I suspected it being high.
That's how spears feel against many mobs. Not so much against charred.
Thanks @nocturne wolf for the Intel. Very cool
I'll keep trying. Right now I have three oaks and last time I cut them down I got three seeds. I'd love to have an entire forest of oaks eventually
Perhaps skill level helps with seed drops idk? Rng is a thing
Wouldn't be surprised if that was added with the new system.
Nope, level doesent have anything to do with drops for woodcutting
Thanks for the correction. So strictly luck on how many and how often seeds drop?
Yep
Sweet o7
Flesh rippers have 6x backstab so that means a backstab secondary is 36x stagger
This is why I'm dooooomed
Why doomed o.O
Rngesus HATES me. I got through like, 20 oaks for 3 seeds
Wow if accurate that's some tough luck.
I can't maintain a farm of them because of it
At one point I had 11 at my farm and not 1 dropped a seed
It'll feel amazing when you finally hit that multi drop though. Improve your axe and skill. Less swings for more efficient slot machine 🎰 pulls lol
Oh dude, it did. I got a six drop, a 3, and about 4 1 drops. But I can't get consistent drops
To give you an idea of my luck. I once had a guy roll toughness in a tabletop game (5 or 6 on a six sided, the model lives) 11 times in a row. It was enraging
Consistency and RnGesus are never exclusive
True, rngesus consistently hates me lol
that would be cool if it WERE a thing, and/or alternatively Elder power buffing seed rate drop
YO, that would be an awesome buff to his power so it didn't just get forgotten
If I can knock more trees in a given period of time. I increase my odds of* better drops. Or no? Is that not how farming works
You're thinking of cumulative weighting
Seed drop rate is a fixed rate
The elder buff is a sweet idea. Correlation to its current
Yo, is there a way to bridge lava rivers? I thought grousten might be safe from melting, but I was wrong
The damage for the 2nd hit of the 2 hit combo deals quite hefty amount of damage due to that backstab multiplier.
No seeds drop right. But the quantity is random. That's what we are trying to fix or increase rate of...drop odds
Flametal beams and pillars don’t take damage in lava
if someone uses the snap-points correctly, you can build stable pillars straight down into the lava 👀
Oooo, gotcha, I JUST found my squads first fortress. On break now because of aforementioned attempts at crossing lava
You can use basalt bombs if you only need something temporary
Finally got our stuff and managed to solo run back, while being chased by 2 valkyries, a 1 star asksvin, a morgen, and gods know how much else lol
I like this idea, shouldn't be all that different from building a pier, except on fire lol
Well, at least you got your stuff back.
REAL. Granted, I lost patience and am now playing on keep my equipped stuff mode, 4th playthrough it finally lost it's allure lol.
But hot damn was that a tight run
Had to build a tower to fly over the lava river, to land on a platform i placed, so i could grab our stuff out of the river just for the start
And by fly I mean featherfall
This is extremely useful to know 👀
During PTB I had another fully upgraded protection staff in my base in case of corpse runs. So what I did was eating 1 eitr food to cast protection bubble, then eat pukeberry to puke it out, waited for the debuff to wear off then ate proper foods, waited for some hp regen and went to my corpse.
I will probably literally steal this
I THINK I read somewhere--don't quote me--you can build above the lava with regular buildpieces too (i.e. ones that would break due to the heat damage) if its high enough, i.e. it won't take heat damage, so presumably you could set some pillars down, then build a whole base above hte lava
I think this is the biggest brain Strat I’ve ever seen here
Yea, if I had one complaint about the lava it's that you can dip your toe in and just barely take damage. This led to me thinking that was how ALL lava worked
Very rough lesson lol
In older versions, all lava did the same very high damage
Well, during PTB it literally could kill in matter of seconds if you dipped your toes slightly in lava.
Bring this back lol
It was balanced to deal more damage when deeper.
Let me learn my lesson on tiny lava lol
WAY easier to get my stuff back then on a failed river crossing pre flametal
What's the intended way to seige fuling camps? Surely sniping them from a rock god spot isn't intended.
Rock god, baiting them in small groups, build a siege camp, being really good at melee, etc
Why not?
Any way that get them all dead.
I use a bow to bring small groups out for melee combat
Atgeir is strong contestant as good AoE melee weapon.
Dig a hole and slow harpoon drag all of them into it so you can kill them with a couple bile bombs
All sorts of fun shenanigans
Force them to swim over river/water so you deal more damage with Frostner.
Snipe with Huntsman bow as it has the smallest alert radius of all bows.
Literally, anything is possible.
later, artillery bombardment from a boat or by troll is probably the most entertaining method
You could bugs bunny them, make a bridge over a deadly pit to deconstruct mid crossing
Fill the pit with campfires and pufferfish
refined eitr alternative good choice
Wouldn't they break that? Or am I missing something
Not refinery, the green balls.
I mean the little balls of refined eitr you get, the product of refining the tissue and sap--if you just drop it in the pit, it'll kill the fulings with the "radiation" it randomly spits off
well, those are some nice ideas. I was just thinking about the ashlands fortresses and how the intended method was probably to shoot catapults into the walls untill you kill most of the enemies then use a battering ram, (or just a hoe/ladder/trollstav). I was wondering if there was something like that for the fulings
THEY HURT THINGS?
They also shoot projectiles like the refinery.
How have I never noticed this
They shoot out little balls of poison and lightning
drop enough individual instances of reifned eitr, and the average damage can get quite high
That's hilarious
be mindful, it WILL kill you TOO
rn I am doing Fists only Very Hard and its pretty fun but also not rlly 😅
36x of what? Kick Dmg?
Or were you always an archer underneath it all?
6x backstab multiplier and 6x stagger multiplier of secondary kick equals 36x stagger multiplier.
Beat fader day 303
I don't think I'll manage to do that considering I haven't even finished building my base at day 440 + 😄
Not really sure what I think of it, I had my friend watching and he found it kinda underwhelming, berserker axes absolutely pulverised the boss in like 6 minutes
jesus u must be quite bored to do that lmfao
I will say my favourite boss fight has been Queen so far
gl tho
have u fought fader?
my base is still not close to being finished either lol but at this point I’m thinking I wanna take everything I’ve learned with building and start a new base on the east side of the world which I’ve not even explrowd
ah
Yeah fought him today
But staggered enemies only take 2x dmg ever?
Or you mean how much stagger is applied? The wiki says stagger is based upon physical damage…?
Edit: oh right, I understand more now.
gj. hes my fav
queen - best boss imo
I was kind of expecting him to put up more of a fight if I’m being honest
Queen fight was a solid fight that took over an in game day
Yeah, the amount of stagger, not the damage you deal against staggered enemies.
Both Queen and Fader are really nice bosses to fight.
Frostner and himminafl vs queen, thundering berserkir axes vs fader
ya queen boss room is goated
true, did the axes break any?
Hope 1.0 removes the queen safe room
yea was same for me when i did fader first
Maybe 30%
Safe room? You mean your ability to just walk out the door and she can't follow you? 😁
personally I hated the queen fight both times I did it, and loved fighting Fader 🙂
same
yea lol
that too, however no boss portals fixes that issue
I usually like to use Primal axes for boss fights. You can immobilize them too, which is useful.
fader actually feels like a proper boss fight, having to shoot the guys he spawns with bows, the meteors, the atmosphere, etc etc while the queen is just kill seekers and seeker broods with bombs and for queen just dodge, swing, dodge swing, repeat
I will say tho the fire did get me at one point, I underestimated just how much it could stack and was getting 30 damage a tick
💯 💯 💯 💯
see the thing is I just locked onto fader the entire time and either his spikes or lightning killed the spawns
Bosses not being CC immune hurts my soul.
Queens boss room really makes her fight stand out because she has the toolkit to utilise it, spawning backups and burrowing away from the player
If u could cc bosses they'd be so easy lol
i mean i guess
Yeah root is what I meant with immobilize.
when i think of cc i think more of being stunned but i guess root does count
There are many forms of CC my fren.
root is more of a soft cc
Soft CC is still CC.
yes
hard cc and soft cc are very different tho, example fader can still do many attacks while rooted
Bosses should be fully immune to all CC imo 🤷♂️
agreed
Never cheated more in a game but valheim
CC? 🤔
Crowd Control.
Term from MMOs, MOBAs, and pretty much any PvP title that has abilities.
Generally separated into Hard CC and Soft CC.
Where the defining line is "Hard CC denies two or more actions."
But not every game follows said definition.
If I switch difficulty to get a 2 star tameable monster, when I go back to server settings and switch back to normal, will the tameable monster change ?
No?
just asking
we just missing the ocean and deep north updates? been awhile.
Mainly the Deep North one.
Unsure what the scope of the ocean one even is, so not sure if it will be the same size as Ashlands/Deep North updates.
But yes.
Which difficulty slider increases starred monster chance? I thought they were just multipliers to damage of all monsters
Difficuly slider does both.
Hey guys, how is the game playing alone? Thinking about buying the game but seen quite a few different places online say the game isn't very/as enjoyable solo
nahhh man I want my askvin tier 2 and the first things I get are 2 star charred ☠️
It changes damage numbers and increases starred chance.
And I very much hope they separate them into 2 slides so you can play on normal with more stars if you want to.
Solo is the only way I have played this game for all the years it has been out.
It's fun both ways: solo and coop with friends.
okay thanks both, I think i'll buy it as its on sale rn then give it a go once I'm over my stardew addiction phase I'm currently in haha
I always forget how expensive this game is.
is anyone down to play some vallyhiem im still fairly new ?
50% off on steam rn, so may as well pull the trigger and give it a go when i have the time to fully invest into it
does anyone want to start a new server with me
Someone in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510 might.
oh thank you
yw
My favorite is baiting them towards a tar pit, but sniping is second best by far
Do tamed animals attack neutral creatures normally? Like do wolves attack Dverger?
Nope. They will only attack creatures that are hostile to the "player faction".
if anyone finds basic tasks neat to watch, I can stream my game of Val for yall to watch me build a road
Is it me, or do 1 star Draugr archers look a lot like a woman?
Ocean has not been confirmed to get a boss or a full biome update, also don't forget Ashlands patch updated the ocean near the Ashlands with a new monster and looks different and has other changes to normal ocean
@vocal rivet
Ok - did the science and checked some data:
Fermenter - 40 mins (not "2 in game days" that wiki says - that is wrong)
Honey - 20mins (wiki is correct)
Both ARE sped up by sleeping - which takes away the remainder of time during the night - i.e. if you slept at 4pm, you wake up at 6am, removing some time.
The wiki is also wrong for "Sleeping" - it says you can only sleep at night. It should say "afternoon" or "night". Edit: actually sleeping is referred to on two different wiki pages. The Environment page is correct, it is just the sleeping page that is wrong.
Honestly, wish they would add an ocean-based raid or two. Something on a boat to try to sink or kill you would be fun
~The Kraken raises and the winds stop
Still pretty easy, imo. Easy on solo, and even easier on multiplayer (unless you're on a raft)
Morgen gjall.
At least people will stop asking now.
Oo deep north already looking like the opposite of Ashland’s, you aren’t being swarmed with enemies upon landing
Do they tho?
Man, wild that valheim is almost done
Will be neat to see what the devs have planned next once they finally wrap up with valheim
I just hope they keep the lowpoly aesthetic, what ever they may do next
Kind of hard to believe, the game will be finished with the last expansion probably by the end of this year
I mean it’s like old timers at a bar seeing new people coming in asking the same questions it’s a different guy each time but online since it’s just text on a screen people clump them all up into one category
There will always be people like that and not everyone checks every channel upon entry to a server
hoping we get balance patches together with 1.0 or right after
Of course we will.
Valheim devs speed running their own game; she didn’t even land in a Drakker, just a longboat…
they did mention dungeons in the recent blogpost too I wonder if that’s implying multiple types of dungeons or just one type of dungeon and there being multiple of them
Hopefully they do something about Ashlands too.
Will next game update be "1.0" including deep north or will there first be a separate deep north.
Do what about the Ashlands?
Do what about Ashland’s in particular? What do you think is needed to change
They already nerfed it into being very easy.
Everything....
Its not just the difficulty level.
‘Very easy’ lmao it’s the most challenging biome in the game
I imagine there could still be maybe a small handful of post 1.0 updates for any smaller extra bonus content
Maybe possibly even some rebalancing and adjustments to the early game depending on how much they feel the later biomes have drifted from the original mechanics
It's the most populated, that doesn't necessarily mean challenging.
The devs have already stated they aren’t planning on redoing large parts of the game, Ashland’s is most likely not going to be changing much further from what it is now
it can be both?
Ashlands is fire! don't need change
Just needs optimization given the sheer number of objects causing lag.
This is indeed the biggest problem. Its a long hack'n'slash fest. No calm periods.
If you clear the spawners it’s not that bad, I have a huge radius around my base of operations and don’t get too many spawns
People wanted a conquer kinda thing where you conquer the biome and spawns drop and it’s like that in the game already when you get rid of the spawners it’s a lot more manageable
Wanting a less populated Ashlands is like wanting a less misty Mistlands.
Pun intended?!
yes ofc!
yeahhhhhhh
I don’t think the biome would feel right without the hordes of enemies
Yeah I don't expect much to change if they do do a passthrough on earlier content.
Honestly I think the most major difference was the introduction of magic based items, and considering the way skills work that's a steep loss of passive progression by that point in game if you want to switch to the magic based gear
The thing is magic starts pretty strong to begin with and the skills just further increase its power
With melee your biggest bump in damage for most of the game is the weapon progression
Will they finally be adding a glock with the deep north update?
did u agree w this? #suggestions message
ashlands is cool and its a big fighting pit yea thats cool but imo it feels like the zone gets robbed of it's story a bit when they just spawn enemy units everywhere
like imagine in plains if u would just find tar blobs anywhere, instead of @ tar pits
I didn’t vote either way I like the idea but thing it should be at least twitchers roaming the biome and charred units being concentrated in the village like areas and around the fortresses yeah
ok agree
and yea i didnt mean the charred warriors ONLY exist inside forts, thats why i said surrounding areas, maybe there can be small encampment ruins and some soldiers there
like u know theres random ruins everywhere
so ppl say "no more changes to ashlands pls" but thats a change id like to see personally
Yeah I’ve decided to 👍 in that case and I
Hope something like that is done for deep north, having sub biome dependent spawns is more interesting than every mob everywhere like you mention in the suggestion
How do i get alot of rocks me and my friend and planning to build a castle
Mine?
Mine copper.
U could just dig trenches tbh.
Mining copper is better.
Mining silver helps too
Thx
Depends how far u are
mine big and high rocks in plains, remove bottom of them and they will pop
or big stones around in nature - vein mod is helping here a lot
Mine copper.
If deep north gets a fist weapon, its secondary backstab should be the highest stagger possible in one hit
I hope every weapon type gets a final version
It would be rude not to.
agree, it was said at some time 🙂
Yeah, if the stagger multiplier stays the same.
I believe flesh ripper secondary backstab is already the highest possible, with up to 2592 stagger at level 4
So imagine what something four biomes later could do
Hmm, could that amount stagger a 2 star Morgen even?
Wasn't the stagger limit 40% of max health?
They're slash resistant so probably not
Morgen limit is 30%, player is 40%
Ah right, forgot that part lol.
I think if you hold secondary attack and start with a backstab it may be possible to stunlock a 2-star fuling berserker but I need to test that
Hmm probably.
It can stunlock him but you need luck with damage variance and the attacks he uses.
Well, 2 star Berserker is not usually something many would approach with melee weapons at that state of progression.
I haven't actually used flesh rippers before but in testing now they seem better than other melee weapons I've tried against two-star fuling berserkers because of the short attack time and damage bonus on the second attack instead of the third
So maybe I'll be approaching them more often if I can get my hands on these on a normal character
i mucked around with it a bit today after seeing the 6x multiplier - part of the issue is the kick 'pushes' them back so much you lose attack time.
And the kick is a short range, and has other issues - that I found its good in theory, but the later mobs were "meh" for it
if you get them back to a wall - its ... ok/good. But it was just too situational for me to consider it OP
Yeah they have quite fast attacks and every other hit dealing double damage is useful. They fare quite well in Ashlands too, surprisingly, as I stated how they can easily stagger warriors with the kick. Although parrying with them is not that viable.
You can keep moving forward with WASD while keeping hitting, even sprint at the same time.
Maybe they'd go well with a staff of protection. The stamina cost is low so using eitr food won't be an issue
Hmm, mages best melee friend?
80 knockback on the secondary is less than the primary of some weapons
Which one is better blood magic or elemental magic in mistland periode?
Elemental damage kills enemies much better than skeletons but doing anything as a mage without staff of protection won't end well, so the only right answer is both
Hummm. should i stick to sword or change to mage?
Using a combination of melee and magic can work well too. How would you prefer to fight enemies?
I hate the seeker tbh
All seeker attack hitboxes don't reach very far up, and the seekers themselves are quite short. Jumping is incredibly effective against them.
Although mistlands doesn't always give much space for movement
Idk that, but when seeker attack it give big knockback
The attacks using both claws at the same time have high knockback, but the others are actually quite low
Deathcount in mistland>Meadows-Plains because of constant falling and high knockback from seeker
Maybe you need a feather cape then
Another farming again
It's quiet depressing tbh constantly died because you need 15 black cores to craft 3 building when your equiptment still Plains haha
Btw thanks for advice
Why don't you craft what you need with one station, demolish the station, build the next one and craft the required items again. Destroy it, build station #3, craft what you need and then go hunting for more cores?
You may be better prepared that way and the other cores will be easier to aquire too.
Hello, fellow vikings
hi
Deep North looking like a winter wonderland so far, at least from this little peek.
i'm going to cheat in christmas trees and wreaths anyways and build a cabin
Hey lads, i got an problem. how do i keep my self playing this game? Seriously, i had so much fun playing it, until damn swamp boss. I lost all fun fighting him (i didnt defeat him yet) and other stuff, i dont know what to do, also i had some mod problems which i solved but because of it i had to cut off over 3 hours of progress (I was just mostly walking around so nothing lost there)
What did you use against him? An iron mace works well
Yeah i have iron mace, but its just so fucking fun ruining experience to fight him
How so?
Well, other fucking enemies spawning around
Did you clear the surrounding area of spawners
What armor, food and mead did you bring?
That one mead against poison
Iron armour
Well, the ones for both stamina and health
Serpent meat and stew are both good health food options, significantly stronger than anything else you can obtain at this stage
in case you didnt know, you dont need to kill bonemass. you can progress in another way
yeah no shit, but i aint fighting that damn serpent
huh, fym
Serpents are balanced to be fought with black forest equipment
Iron mace, poison resistance potions and ideally root armor and ure good to go
so bonemass drops an item thats like a scanner to find ore in the ground, but u can use the deer 2h hammer and smash into the ground and it will say basically if theres an ore there. i dont even think i killed bonemass in my latest playthrough xD
deer 2h hammer?
Yes
stagbreaker i think its called
and there's certain spots where those ores are more likely to spawn (i think) so its not as tough to find as u might think
stagbreaker can do that???
ya it says "too hard to break" or something when theres an ore underneath u
I mean, its still be hard to find ore
not as much as u'd think. its very viable
Although I’m not sure it’s the best idea to send the lad on a mission to the mountains when he is being overwhelmed by bonemass and the surrounding swamp enemies
it can be difficult to get your items back from the mountain without adequate preparation
yea sure but im just saying if he doesnt wanna mess w bonemass then ya there u go
actually i dont remember a playthrough where i even killed bonemass before mountains, now that i think about it
You know, this game is an open world after all, so I will do what i want tbh
Getting the frostner can be a lot of help against bonemass you just gotta be extra careful up there
Fun is my first priority
If you are gonna go up to the mountains make sure to stock up on frost resistance and leave frost resistance potions at home just in case
dont worry i know
Does not killing bonemass prevent wolf raids?
so to find ore on mountain, just seek high spots. i think theres where i usually find ore
Bonemass must be killed for wolf raids
ooo ima need to try this on my next playthrough then lol
idk
when we are both talking about wolf raids we do mean the you are being hunted one right?
Yes, what else would a wolf raid be?
That's the only wolf raid.
I’m not sure if there’s any more and I know that one can happen anywhere in mountains or plains so it’s not like the typical raid
I’m getting flashbacks to my first hunt where I was in the middle of plains on a rock surrounded by lox and wolves and it was a nightmare
at least lox will fight wolves
The wolves ended up overwhelming the loxes and killing me if I recall correctly
I cooked over 100 sausages, damn
Keep 10 wood and 24 stone on hand always when exploring. As soon as you see the raid notification, drop a workbench and raise the terrain under you for safety
You can never have too many sausages.
careful about that, u switch to new food pretty fast
Sausages have enough health that they're decent "bulk" food IMO, stuff you eat to keep healing and have some stats that doesn't take more difficult to acquire resources. Eat it while building or farming, not adventuring 😉
eh, i just have shit ton of materials for them, i kinda dont care
I mean what else are you gonna use those resources on too
more sausages
i just remembered sausages are made with draugr entrails wtf ew
look on the bright side. the draugers fermented the entrails already for us
Entrails can be found in later biomes too, btw.
everyone loves draugers
They kill too many necks
its still meat
I fw muckshake heavy
Beat Modor for the first time, no deaths. Piss off you bad dragon!
She's only defending her children. You meany.
She's trying to roast you to feed to her children that you just brought back to her.
She should be thanking you instead.
Don’t care this was personal. Her little drakes kept harassing me while I was building my mountain fortress.
But she was definitely easier than the bone mass fight.
bonemass fight has always been kind of a joke though
use a hoe to build a big ass platform
smash ground with stagbreaker
rinse and repeat
Of course if you are cheezing it it is a joke...
the method came from the game
it's not my problem
Indeed, but before telling other people that the fight is easy just because you are abusing the game mechanics you should at least know if they want to do it/did it that way. 🙂
any method that gets it done is the right way
I am not saying its the wrong way 😉
cheating is the gift man gives himself
i mean you could just solve my method by making it so you can't change the terrain around the bossfight like they do with the standing stones
Why?
If he is found out, the woman will leave with 50% of everything he owns.
if
if it's cheese and it wasn't intended there would be something put in place to stop it
Why when most people will not do it?
It's one of the few ways to get some cheese in Valheim, let us keep it.
and its a singleplayer game, if you want to cheat/cheeze something no one is stoping you
don't mind me just using trolls to mine and break stuff ages before i've actually gotten any bronze
plenty of cheese everywhere
Yeah there is quite some cheese to go around.
infinite surtling cores and coal
use a hoe for precisely 3 seconds
I set up a portal chain to 14 of such geysers.
i'm not that motivated
dig hole and leave
Dig hole, put two portals down and leave trough one of them.
gigachad
Yeah you're right, i'm lame because to mad because get constanly killed lol.
Pretty sure that's not what they said.
I've found an damn jack of all trades big ass continent, it has plains, meadows, black forest, swamp and mountains, mountains have the most territory though
Hold on since when Muddy scrap piles spawn outside the sunken crypts?
They spawn underground in swamps and can be found by a wishbone
Since long before you discovered it. Either you randomly smack the ground to find them or use the wishbone.
yeah i know, but its my first time seeing them not underground
and WITHOUT wishbone, its just sticks out the earth
Sometimes they generate like that 🙂
That rarely happens but it can happen, like silver sticking out of the mountain.
Is it safe to build an house in black forest that is next to a mountains?
That black forest is quite peaceful, only one troll cave that is far from point where i want to build my house
I'd be more worried about the mountain. How close to that biome are you?
Certainly and you can easily build either a moat, earthen wall or both and spawn proof your camp to keep it safe.
I mean pretty far, you have to run there, im not building it too close
Its more closer to the shore
The way that teaser was worded makes me wonder if we get a final biome boss, as well as an endgame boss.
Final boss of Valheim will be Odin and we clap his booty cheeks
If we can beat Odin, he is just letting us win 😆
Freaky Odin
We’re working for Odin, not against him
Nah, the trope of "The one who sent you on a quest is actually the bad guy" it too overused and stupid, i really hope it will not be that way
Yeah I wouldn't enjoy that for many reasons
What’s good time to beat Modor? I did it on day 146.
At this rate I’ll beat the game on day 292.
I chop 3 oaks and get no acorns... 4th oak drops 4 acorns, odins beard! this game is stressin me out
At any time you feel you're ready and prepared.
That's a relative question tbh, I would say day 300 for Moder is as good as 146.
I feel that.
How often do you guys see Odin? I feel like he’s everywhere. I’ve seen him while sailing past swamps, I’ve seen him while chopping trees, I was once walking back to base and he spawns right in front of me. He even joined me while fishing.
Some sessions I see him like 5 times, then I won’t see him for another month haha
On our most recent 3 person server with veterans we got moder by day 90, but it was a struggle
Probably could have done day 80 but we failed hard the first time and had to prepare better
Dang that’s fast. By day 100 I was fighting bonemass.
Gotta say first play through is super fun
Yeah most of the bosses were fought with 1 tier appropriate weapon and armor piece each. But this is the same group that decided to kill eikthyr with fists only, elder with torches only, bonemass with wooden clubs and moder with crude bows on one of our playthroughs
I feel like those had to be some hilarious fights.
Elder was the most fun, moder was very tough. Had to rotate people back to base to keep making more arrows lol
What arrows did you use?
boy do I love dying and losing the past 12 hours worth of skills
Dont die 😉
Man growths are insane tho. Once they stick you, you're basically dead
Try just walking to the side when they start shooting 🙂 and key is not to agrro too many of them at once
Growths are the tar guys right?
Okay thanks, I'll keep that in mind
I don't usually gripe about news releases but that video was entirely too short! More adventures of Hervor please!
Can I place torches inside my lox enclosure, or does that scare them
If they are tamed it will be ok 🙂
Only when they're tamed
Okay thank
So I gotta tame boars then I can bring them close to fire is what im getting
No wonder my boars weren’t taking.
They are frightened when near the fire
Whenever you want. I'm on day 180 because I took forever to find a main base and build it up. Plus I did 'side quests' and tamed two star boars, wolves, and grabbed some loxes. I even have barley and flax, but I JUST killed bonemass last night. You play how you like mate! Enjoy the game!
Frost arrows work well on them if that helps.
Yep. Boars are like greydorks. Afraid of fire.
Would lighting up my lox enclosure stop fulings spawning inside it? I currently have two lox inside, but fulings keep spawning inside everytime I portal over
it's not light based
They are probably the best arrows in game 🙂 but obsidian and needle work well too
it's being within the radius of the right objects that block spawning
so cover the area in campfires or workbenches
You need to add base items to stop spawns
Also try finding an advantage point (like a big rock if there is one) best to deal with from a distance. Plus you can see them coming and go the opposite way if they aren't all dead by then.
Okay thanks
you can cover a campfire with a 45 degree roof so that the initial fire it starts with is smothered out, and the timer will still run 'burning' the wood fuel without the fire (and then once it hits zero you can remove the roof)--to stop lox from setting themselves on fire than in panic trampling everything including to the campfires
you can just use workbenches but IMO they're more visually 'cluttering', they're more expensive materials wise, and enemies automatically hostile to campfires the way they are to workbenches or most of the other spawn blocking objects
Try putting a ward down. Will despawn things and if they lox aren't tamed might take a while to destroy at least. But if they are in an enclosure do the ward on the wall.l, as wards float.
Hmmm. I might start another deathless run, but this time bows only. So no melee except axe and pick for grinding and no magic.
deep north looks insane from that trailer
Looks very pretty. I like the new real pine trees that bend cause of the snow.
I like the vibes of it too.
Yall, imagine an solid land world. Like no ocean, only some rivers, just imagine whole ass world like this
Wonder if the Bog Witch is a greydwarf or not
I believe she is, wiki says so too, but there was a debate on that some time ago
greydwarf that locked in
She's a 3 star shaman 😉😏
Wonder what sins the bog witch committed to become a greydwarf 👀
Witchcraft?
Alchemical warfare
Loitering
Definitely loitering.
Trespassing?
That's what the broom got caught for.
Broom has an assault charge 😭
hi
No it does not, all it did was defend itself 😄
this game is amazing, i used to play it with some friends, but they moved on, and so here i am
Solo is better anyways.
i hope you are all having a good day
i certainly need to adopt that perspective 🙂
oh wow look at all the changes :3
WhEn uPdAtE?
the soundtrack is amazing
Having a good day, glad to have you on the server
evening guys
so, there is an drake helmet, does that mean when we wear it we become freaky like him?
can we have a hotfix patch for sound please ? xd ashlands music is brain scrambly
this game is scary alone
You wear it when you want to upgrade from the iron one 😉
i love that the deer sound is the same
Sadge. Such is the valheim life. I still have a friend I play with but it was very fun with another guy who moved on to marvel rivals...rip
if they don't play valheim with you
are they really even a friend?
🥹
asholes. worst mkobs in the game. why`?
I despise greydwarves more than any other mob in the game
Those are stone golems
Runestones that you can find in BF have lore for them 🙂 you can see all runestones here if you want https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Runestone
what were those mosquitos
sorta agree. they are strong contender on my nr 2 spot 🙂
Only because of their attack hitboxes though
Annoying little buggers when you find them the first time 😄
Let me guess, cant jump over them xD
how about when theres a 50-50 chance they get out of parry stun in 0,1 seconds? 😄
i'm feeling cold
do yall have any good mod apps for valheim?
That depends on which attack they do 🙂 for each variant of golem one of them is the long stun
Try asking in #mods-discussion 😄 folks there will surely know
TYYY
Make fire 😄
i think vanilla has to be best, there's something beautiful about just experiencing the vibe
ha didnt know! I just figured they decide to not always take stun seriously and snatch 90% my hp instead
That’s not the issue, they’re just basically impossible to dodge without rolling
this was a good download i feel so much better than when i was playing civ 6
i have tried that 15 times beat the game and got bored
15 playthroughs will happen sooner than you would think xD
i doubt it, i work 6 days a week and study degree
i also like to build bases at the cost of progression so i'll probably build somewehere nice with a moat and stuff
and i want a pet serpent too
You want too much gng
If i may i would recommend looking at world modifiers 🙂 they can greatly help with gathering resources for example
wow thank you! raising the resource rate will probably make the grind go a bit quicker
i'll make the combat a bit harder to compensate
how often do blog posts happen

Can chickens walk through a shutter door?
Not unless its open
What is a shutter door?
But they fit through shutters when they're open?
This game has shutters?
Didnt try it personally, but i think they could
Yes, wood shutters
next episode better have more stuff in it then cuz im not tryna wait a month for another 30 seconds of ocean
They're 4 wood, 2 bronze nails
Development takes time
We could also get no dev blogs 😉
You mean Bronze Windows?
ocean is god tier
https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Wood_structures bottom of the page 😉
Bronze Windows.
No thing named like that in Valheim 🙂
cant be a window, since its shutter 🙂
You can use it to shut a window
Indeed 😄 thus making it shutter, not the window itself
Nice, found maypole in my new world. I started my bow only challenge.
Well if it's open you can shut'er 😂
🖐️ 🦵
Wooden lol
hope i don't see anything blue for a while
You dont like blueberries? 😭
||(btw for trolls the atgeir works wonders 😉 )||
New activity while waiting for 1k ore to smelt: Jumping in place 😄
i can kill em they just scare me
tbh, we need windows in valheim, like actual glass
Crystal.
Just imagine if we could just use shovel to get sand, and then we just smelt it
yeah i just googled it
yeah but the pictures in the dev blog honestly gave us more info than the video did
but the video and story gave us the vibes
fair enough
i do wonder what the dungeons are gonna be
i think it'd be really cool if they made more open dungeons for deep north since most of them have been relatively cramped
except for infested citadel and some frost caves
We didn't have any jump height buffs when the previous dungeons were designed so this one should hopefully give us more room for that reason
my most favorite dungeons are frost caves-feel like each of them is original and kind of unpredictable
The only thing stopping me from doing multiple play throughs is the swamp biome. FK that place
What's wrong with swamps
best ways to get flametal?

A trollstav or catapult + explosive ammo can also work well
first real difficulty hike of the game lol
So after already playing through the game, why would it still be a problem?
gotcha, so the lava river towers 😭
2 star skeleton inside confined burial mounds isn't a difficulty spike?
Ghosts, who have no attack animation, not a difficulty spike?
Trolls, stronger than the boss you just killed
i mean, i dont think ive ever been killed by a ghost, and compared to the swamp, no lol
very visible, very straightforward
swamps require the right gear, and the right tactics at first, also, the constant wet debuff
Wet isn't much of an issue if you're also rested
I found the swamp to be very straightforward 🤷♂️
all this being said, i dont mind the swamps, my hate is still for the mists
-25%health regen and 15% stamina regen is a pretty substantial deal for most people, and the swamps have higher enemy density/quality
I do hate the wet, even if it was like 5 or 6 days of rain and 1-2 that weren't, I wish there was at least variety of weather there
Or a waterproof cloak that would make it so the rain wasn't an issue, but wading still was
I actually like the swamp
I dont know why. I like the vibe.
Also the enemies arent tricky. They moslty go straight toward you if they can.
same
Swamp is one of my favorites too.
Swamp is cool! But I think there’s a good case to be made that the difficulty spike from BF to Swamp is pretty… spikey 👀 I think that’s a good thing though. Sets the tone for the game and makes the player really learn how to prepare and why it’s important.
my my i have been working and then working some more and come back to +300 new messages 😄 how is a gal to keep up with that pace LOL
I like swamp combat but swamp environment is depressing 😄
I found that players that don't enjoy swamps or mountains also don't build bonfires
hm...that would be very neglecent to not do that... a bonfire is a vikings good friend 😄 I carry one through all swamp and mountain 😄
Or generally don't use the basic fire/resting mechanic
so very convenient when you dig at iron in a crypt and get rested from your bonfire outside...you can see when it goes back to resting that no enemy is near anymore 😄
also squitos are stupid they fly at you right through a bonfire ...RIP
and even in the swamp in my nomap run i can see the smoke of the fires that i have placed where i need to find my way..so i do carry some wood and stones to make visible waymarkers in the swamp (bonfires are a little expensive to use them all over the place to set the swamp ablaze)
You know what you got a point coz swamp is one of my less enjoyed biomes and I pretty much only place like one bonfire a world lol
It’s not even a bad biome per say I just like to get the first three biomes over and done with as quickly as possible
Going back to the swamps post mountains gear is an enjoyable experience tho
LOL i usually rush only meadows and forest to get to the swamp and with that to iron 😄
Smoke particles also visible through mist/fog. Looks like bubbles. Great for signaling in no map.
yeah... using fires to mark the way is more helpful than signs and posts... you can see them further (withs swamp being so dark and dreary i could not even see my wooden posts and arrows until i stood r ight next to them)
also i love throwing surtling cores into bonfires... fireworks... very pretty (no need to signal - i play solo- just for the fun of pretty)
Does it fill the bonfire as well like wood or just for firework effect?
just the fireworks effect.
if you got a surplus like me (2 wooden boxes full) it makes a very nice way of loosing some
Nice way to celebrate a boss fight tbh
Nice way to fight a boss too
or a tricky situation survived...just for the celebration of being alive still 😄
Valhiem: Nuke update
i use bonfires to fight moder...have er crawl over one then hit her in the face with a spear while she is burning 😄
i just wish dem DEVs would add a bit of variation to the fireworks... could be rng blue green red purple or somthing... 😄
New starting area: awaken in an underground vault dungeon that exits straight into post-ashlands wastes.
why do i think of fallout all of the sudden? 😄
there are more types of fireworks
yeah... but the surtling coree in bonfire gives only one color everytime you do it... 😄
I love the personnel chest, it's so compact and convenient. I've been putting one in every room/building and stocking it with resin to relight my sconces
mine hold the neclaces and left over boss items : D
christmas parcels make for nice "put some seldom found things in" too 😄
I'm surprised that treasure chests and piles of gold don't add to comfort
Being rich makes people paranoid anxious that they will lose it
because it is not comfy to sit on a pile of gold i think 😄 more comfy sit on a throne 😄
I can test that theory for you if you want I’ll just need the gold delivered
being rich in valheim means i can go on shopping sprees with the traders and that makes me happy 😄
The once in a lifetime fire pit purchase where you buy enough to never have to sail back
lol.. i play with open portals mostly so i can go buy stuff as much as I want 😄
That hits hard with the no portal life
`6 fuling villages with no totems, urg
Hella blackmetal and gold at least
I feel you in my current run with cassandra i only obtained 7 totems in total that is about 10 less than i would want... I like to put them Teddybears up around the base..they glow pink 😄
Are the totems intended to represent Yagluth? ...as a teddy bear?
