that thinking doesn't help, sometimes you gotta get creative, or sometimes you gotta send an invite code
So I was close that it was a 40k reference, no?
Oh yes 😄
mmh i will think about that. Honestly I am a bit pissed off I have to resolve for other help after I worked my ass so bad to reach ... nothing
Cause they had to make biome 6 hard and painful
I even liekd a lot the design and the enemies
nothing wwrong with asking for help
I just died 5 time in a row and went from 51 to 46 in swords skill. I did find a spawner in a swamp and it took me 45 minutes to get back to 51 and in the Ashlands I could see the upgrade so maybe go to that buddy
asking for help itself yes, but after all I did ... and it wasn't sufficient
I have to think on that
ya np, also try to take it slow. going slow actually ends up being faster a lot of the time. if u hear some noise, go investigate and kill whatever is making the noise. if u hear gjall horn then be extra cautious
Plains isn't that bad.
hes talking about mistlands i think
So the 7th biome.
Pedantic
Asking for help isn't a sign of weakness
Mistlands is hard and painful and not enjoyable
if it was the plan from dev, they did it well
Mistlands is fun and enjoyable.
Mistlands is fun and different. Ashlands is hard but a fun challenge.
They did it very well.
Mistlands is like a root canal
Also, better hard but fun/exciting than easy but boring
Gamers when the brutal game they signed up for becomes brutal
I signed up for building
Then tweak the modifiers for that
Then go play a game advertised as a building game 😄
I will always say I've only ever had one death in this game that was completely out of my control, and it was due to an internet issue on multiplayer
Plan on easy then
No
Wrong game, really.
Ashlands are hard, but really funny to play cause THERE IS NO FOG OR CLIFFS ON EVERYSTEP YOU TAKE
I die to trees 😭
I will complain about Mistlands
So the solution lies straight in your front of your face yet you completely ignore it, nice
No your face
Mature.
Then enable commands and go to town 🙂
So... the majority of humans?
"You're talking about solving problems? WHAT? You think rational thinking is the way to go? You're insane"
mistlands was a very nice palate cleanse after afghanistan plains, fairly peaceful so long as I didn't actively seek fights
Aware
Is sad 😦
I see you all play Valheim to be way too serious
Sure
nah I spend over half my time in this game building farming and cooking, I just know how to handle myself in fights and don't bitch at the game when I make mistakes
This isn't general chat.
lol
Shame on us for trying to help in a community that should be dedicated to help
How dare you give logical answers to solvable problems.
How dare you.
😏
The point is not to blame the game or the dev for anything I did bad in my games. Just a fact that there's a biome that is not enjoyable, even if it's beautful or whatever, it's such pain to play in it cause the difficulty scale is high, the mobs are harder and weakless, the ressources are non that efficient. The only thing I really enjoy in Mistlands is the fight of The Queen. Why ? Cause it's in a big room where you have place to moove
god gamers when they're told dying over and over might have something to do with them and not the game
But I'm not saying "they should have made this or that"
And yet we're the toxic ones.
no, I totally understand that they planned it like this and it's ok, just it's 🥵
yep, there's a big difference between criticism of the game and complaining about the game
yeah, I defeated plains alone without much trubles, wolves aside
I personally love the mistlands and dislike the ashlands, it's a matter of preference
i mean not everyone but there sure are some super unhelpful ppl here, like you
Mistlands with a Mountain in the middle of it is 🧑🍳 💋
I'm very helpful as most people will acknowledge.
yep, such as correcting ppl on their biome listing
i agree, but it would make all the horuse spent to reach this point unuseful. All that farming for what? Another player full gear ashlands? At this point I should have just play together with people since beginning.
a helpful derek moment
don't fall for rage-bait...
as soon as you have the right gears yes
I like 4th gear the most, personally.
idk i bum rush the mistlands in troll armor and bronze gear simply because it's so much fun to have to actively listen and be more aware of my surroundings, best biome in the game
not even that
you very good then
and what if you have to stop and mine?
or you get swarmed?
It's better to go and yours. 🙂
man just tryna find a game to go play on, why is everything a password
Ticks might GG you on the spot if they catch you maybe, and they're all around the skulls you want to get.
Bronze atgeir/sword
anyone playing where i can come join?
for tissue and marble, mining into a giant skull is basically a free shelter from anything that wants to kill you
#1024264966712340510 check there @sand prism
So griefers have a harder time 🙂
go from the top down, don't mine from the side where everything can hit you
thanks!
I'll be sure to remove all of my content from the Wiki.
ok, i don't think I want to continue this. I don't want to make comparizon with mega pro people
not even that, they still swarm you
isnt there just a jump in server?
Never has been.
fair enough, i should also acknowledge my experience with valheim is probably vastly different than yours
if you're inside the skull they can't do anything to you, soldiers are the only ones that might hurt you
oh yeah they might fly up on top of the skull then drop down the hole or something
oh the soldiers they can't fly. they can smash through the skull? Interesting.
Genuinely the only things I stop for on the first couple runs is Ygg wood so I can come back and spam wisplights everywhere.
its about u not seeing or understanding what other ppl see as a problem. wouldnt necessarily call it toxic but this place gives me very cynical vibes everytime i return within months in between and most of the time different ppl. valheim is a very cozy game and id didnt expect that kinda behaviour here. not to be rude some ppl are just that way
Can confirm
still not finding a game, anyone wanna start a new one?
#1024264966712340510 might have some people as you've been suggested.
I tried very hard to understand your issue earlier. I'm sorry your resolution wasn't satisfactory.
feels kinda cold not very inviting at least while chattng
never talked to u so
i have weird problems sometimes i know but thats how i pick it up
Cold? In November?
Never that...
I imagined the last 10 minutes in #valheim-help?
we texted not talked
Well, that's a level of pedantry even beyond me.

🍿
all good now? @subtle perch or still struggling
changed game
aight
Meanwhile reasoning on a strategy ... but i am really upset
they made it too much hard
The biome is awesome, the enemies are too much strong.
i feel u, try not to make it more complicated than it is tho
I really hope harness will help me, but i doubt. A ganju and I am done, even with potion
anyone know a mod to have camera shake at like a third or half of what it is in the default game? the game's default is wayy too much but i still like camera shake in general
with gjall, wait for it's fireballs, dodge it and then go under it's belly. spam spear throw
u can atgeir spin the ticks it drops
make sure you're fighting on flat ground
in the mistlands
ya it can be tough
the much easier option being to just shoot it in the gjallsack with a bow or crossbow
Just cool off
so play on easy
It's a single player game so if you're not having fun just tweak it
I can't cool off. My cape gives me Frost Resist 😏
But I'm acoustic and I like it hard even when I'm fuming
well he prolly still wants to play on the same difficulty, just venting
And stubborn...
What does this have to do with valheim?
oh shi ma bad missclicked
lmao
wanted to go on general
Doesn't make a lot of sense there either to be honest.
Shitposting rarely makes sense.
my kitkat got so hot you cant id it as a kitkat anymore
(its also lost lost of its kitkat charm)
😦
Is that... Ningguang and Beidou?
that is a affirmative
You unfortunately can (at least some afaik)
unfortunately??
Gjallsack WHEEZE
Gjotum.
meh
it's like cheese for me. But you are not all wrong
Cheese? The perfectly amazing standalone food?
Hello vikings! Anyone aware of planned cooking skill experience changes? You can beat the game two times with the same character and still won't have 100 in cooking
You can 'beat' the game and not get 100 levels in every skill. I don't see the issue.
well... not getting to 100 would be easy 😄 just die if you are at 99 😄 But I think you won't hit even 60 if it's not your first play through and if you are playing on your own
guys is fenris good, just made some lvl 3/hood2 armor for the sake of trying it out but im worried it would be too much of a difference in terms of armor in combat. how large of a damage reduction difference is 44 vs 76 with full silver?
Roughly 32.
the point is during normal play you get 100 in lots of skills - i.e. on my current playthrough I haven't reached ashlands (still on mistlands) and already have 100 in running, jumping and pick axe. Meanwhile cooking is 21 - this is ridiculous
haha i meant in %
I don't think I've ever topped out a skill except maybe running and jumping.
The effectiveness of armor depends on the strength of the attack so you can't easily get an accurate percentage
Just know that you'll be taking more damage but can avoid it more easily too
thats fair. so uh, big difference, much more careful than before, or neglibile cus i have more movement and i do parries anyway
My Block skill is 1 and it annoys me.
maybe you rush too much. I usually don't, also doing no death playthroughs
let an enemy hit you 10 times with both sets and make an excel-list 😄
also it looks cooler lol
Rush? Not remotely.
valheim might be the first game im casually still in the silver age from day 150-270 by choice
with betterUI my player level (i think its just the skills averaged out) is 25
and what's your cooking skill level BTW?
lemme check
I started a new world with my existing char (just vanished the recipes)... So I started with axe and mace at about 30-35. Right now I'm in the plains and still don't have above 60 😄 wont hit 100 with them during the 2nd playthrough 😄
you can hit 100 in any combat skill on a single playthrough, just try to fight enemies. At least that's what I do
i do all the cooking in the world (crafting too, and building)
haha 691 crafts (and 14k builds), and oh goddamn 3000 kills what the fuck that many?
If you want, sure. I've never bothered. Skills are vastly overrated.
aha, cooking is only 12
So u want me to reduce you on what u text in a discord thread?
far from it.
I'm sorry, I can't parse that sentence at all.
I play on normal. So they try to hit me, I block, they are stagged, I hit them once, they die 😄
Oh, no, I think most people will agree.
this is what I'm talking about. It's even harder than fishing, my fishing is 25 in something around 2 hours IRL
fishing... 6. ive caught like 10 fish.
cooking skill only 12, while i literally made barrels of food for me and my sister
high skill! I got 2 😄
I got 60 bow just before getting mistlands magic equipment, but I actually shot everything
okay so apart from fenris movement n shit is there even a point to using bare hands cus of the +14 buff
On normal, on hard and very hard skills will grow even faster
very satisfying killing greylings tho
Hm... next playthrough will be with knives since I never did that. Knives are at 1 so I'll let you know if I hit 100 at any time 😄
A lot of people swear by the light armour route. I only wear heavy so can't comment.
eh ill go light for a little bit and see if it does me any good
nu uh
it looks cool
root doesnt
u said that my understanding in the difference of texting and talking with a person is pedantry. so u find it normal to reduce ppl on chat messages?
ive got a root harnesk but i dont wanna use it i hate how it looks
What do you mean by reducing in this context?
it'll grow on you
is that a pun
mmmmayyyyyybbbbeeeeee
Heh, that'd be scary. If the roots kept growing.
reducing like breaking down a character on whats texted. like i initally was like u seem to be emotionally cold when i text with u but it could be a difference in a talk with u
GET OUT 🗣️
and u call it pedantry
You said that we hadn't chatted, only texted. Which is definitely pedantic, there's no difference really.
its not that deep bro
Indeed.
There's a language issue at play, I realise, but you're making a lot out of a small interaction.
i dont know if its so hard cause im not a native speaker or anything else but what u basically say is theres nothing to be expected beyond of how i assume u are xD
I'm sorry, I just can't understand you.
no it isnt but there seems to be an understanding issue
where do u come from
Irrelevant.
mr fancyland
native english speaker?
Yes.
yes it is cause linguistics can be funny sometimes when explaining things
English is funny in general.
Tomb and Bomb are spelt similarly but pronounced differently
@river jewel m8 just block him and move on
bros the real life equivalent of those english textbook british people
Why, exactly?
I think it's more of the fact that "just block so you ignore the person you don't want to interact"
whats the general consensus here? whos right whos wrong?
bruv im not angry i just would like to be understood when i bring up a point
the flower cult is always right
And I'm trying to understand you.
You didn't do anything wrong it's just a thing people do
not sure what you meant - you don't know how to block? I'm talking about experience, not any particular level
its useless, firstly because he's almost never speaking in good faith
I always do.
sooo derek?
what did aquila do
i got like a bajillion slop video titles ready
"the aquila situation is crazy"
"its over"
"derek made a response"
"the derek accusations are mind boggling"
"hes done"
would be nice tho i rly enjoy returning to the game and talk with fellow enjoyers about it cause its entertaining value and cozyness makes some days brighter especially if u live in a country where u have twilight weather for 8 months
lmao "It's finally over" "He's cooked"
who then
give me a name
What did they do? In what sense?
The flower is always correct
no seriously i found internet drama i wanna know who to support
friendship ended with mudasir
There's no drama here, stop trying to manifest it.
Honestly this is just chaos
everything is drama these days
it's been fun just watching it
the grandma down the street tryna cross the road?
drama "shes cooked" "its finally over"
It's just unpleasant really. I'm desperately trying to understand Aquila so they don't feel ignored and the rest are just bandying insults around.
whos the defendant 👨⚖️
Love me some slop content
slop live by mr sloppington
its fine mate its kinda entertaining now.
Whatever makes you happy. Personally I don't enjoy being constantly accused of things that aren't true.
for ppl who think this is a sitcom; im basically asking questions like this is a building sim about technical functions that are not in the game and this is to hard to explain for me for ppl to understand.
@shy marlin whats ur setup usually when going into ashlands? hybrid? full melee?
Yeah It can get very uncomfortable
damn and i was convinced they released a new episode of the office
Hope you're doing okay @vocal rivet
Not especially. I've had enough, frankly.
Cool off and leave the chat
didnt mean to frustrate u it is what it is
Put yourself first and do something to pass the feeling
ah shit im missing legit context about derek
Not you, you're all good.
Very helpfull but often misunderstood guy 🙂
Depends if i wanna go mage/melee for the run, mage I just go full mage with himmin + crossbow, queen ability, EES for food and i bring minor eitr mead + lingering stam for the initial landing + fortress times; for melee, fenris/root harnesk, himmin, silver sword, spine snap with frost arrows, SSS, bonemass ability for fortresses and initial landing, lingering stam + tasty mead with, oh and the speedy boi potion for both builds and I haven't done a hybrid run post bog witch so idk for that quite yet
since i dont know what to say im just gonna say; i hope all of you have a nice end of november and entirety of december
having a real difficult time choosing between mage or melee this run
dont think ive ever done a full melee landing on ashlands tho but i feel like its gonna be too aids on vh
good luck on VH
That is saying something.
i'm a sweatlord when it comes to games and full melee ashlands vh is very challenging for me
have you tried silver arrows btw
its just whenever i was roaming ashlands on vh melee (when i have max gear), it felt so lackluster compared to mage. like having to care about 1v1s and using tons of bow
nope just frost arrows
mk
also its more bow than melee
If Silver Arrows had the same stat spread as Frost they would actually be worth using. 😭
silver arrows only do 20 spirit damage iirc. Not exactly worth it when the rest is pierce and almost everything in Ashlands resists pierce but is neutral or weak to frost (frost arrows do 52 frost damage).
yea i see a lotta people swearing by silver arrows and idk why
They aren't good.
They are so heavily weighted in Pierce damage 😦
Whereas Frost gets so much shifted into elemental, that if Silver had the same shift they would be amazing.
The thing with the silver sword is that it doesn't shift anything, it gets full slash damage for a mountain tier weapon and nearly half that in spirit damage as a bonus on top.
@shy marlin btw why silver sword over mistwalker?
arrows are basically obsidian arrows with a tiny bit of spirit damage on top
just the dmg calculation ends up being more with the spirit?
uses less stamina and is comparable in damaage to the mistwalker
40 base spirit damage and 25% lower sta cost
Pretty sure it does 160 in total, crazy
aight
In Ashlands, Silver Sword is +5 dps compared to Mistwalker, but you lose the slow.
ye it's a tradeoff, use whatever you prefer more
So it's really just up to the player.
Mistwalker costs 33% more stamina than the silver sword too I didn't see that had been mentioned already
Mist walker gives better crowd control due to frost
Yeah... weapon stamina cost going up with upgrades is... a questionable choice imo.
i guess himmini helps a lot w that
Mistwalker looks cool and drip is king
Breseekir axes >>
yes, himmin for crowd control, silver sword for dps
Uh... I would vote Demolisher for CC, personally.
would you argue that slayer > berserkir axes on vh? when roaming. since u can jump and land w slayer power attack while axes u need to commit to combo
If two-handed swords didn't get fucked by the Ashlands update, yes.
But they lost their AoE potential, so they are just equal with axes tbh.
depends on the situation, just bring both 4head
ya
Right now 1-handed swords are sort of just king because they have no AoE penalty.
i'm tempted to say sword tho cause generally for me my sword skill is greater than the axe skill so i do more damage with the sword
do you mean mistlands btw
Is that when it changed? Idk. I have been an Axe person for a very long time.
ye that's when it happened
Whenever they give 1-handeds the penalty back and remove it from 2-handeds weapon balance will be in a lot better spot.
im curious why is ur sword skill greater? when do u start using swords
I start using swords in the bronze age and rarely ever use axes because they're just a worse sword (and i don't typically involve myself with battleaxes)
I started using swords when my Spears hit 60 😄
oh damn that early alright
Hello i'm back, sorry for the TO i didn't mean to be rude to anyone and I apologyze about it, even if I did feel the tension rose a bit lol. My bad, won't happen again 🫡
I actually enjoyed battleaxes in my recent new world I played on hard preset mode. Just hoping they would grant less movement speed penalty (and a new battleaxe after silver would be great too!).
If the first hit was slightly faster and they got nerfed down to -10% movement speed i'd play with em
Movespeed part doesn't bother me. Just need like 0.2s shaved off the first hit and they would be perfect imo.
Even though after testing some Crystal battleaxe fares also well in Ashlands thanks to the extra spirit damage and no MTP.
And I know, we have Tonic of Ratatosk for some extra movement speed but some balancing for the penalty would be nice. Atgeirs have only -5% in comparison.
yeah the move speed reductions for non-armor is weird, you have like faster move than many 1 hand + shield styles with SOME of the 2 hand weapons (polearms and swords) but then NOT with the 2hand clubs & axes
which are NEARLY the slowest (only slower tower shield + 1 hand weapon)
and those weapon classes both have some utility, sure, but are they SO much categorically better compared to say 2hand swords and/or polearms to need such a relative nerf on speed to compensate...?
Idk if this will help you but the way I have engaged with battleaxes is by only having the battleaxe out when i'm absolutely going to be using it, and then the moment i'm done using it, I swap to hammer and then use the hammer again, that way you don't loose anytime and can move faster than stowing the actual weapon
Tower Shields 😂
IKR
I know I could just unequip it but I also like to look cool while running
when your stow a weapon with "R", so you still 'see' it on your back, doesn't the speed penalty go away?
Yes.
the problem is the animation to put it on ur back takes time
By using the hammer you ignore the slowing down part of the stowing animation
At this point double clicking the hammer has become instinctive for me and it's the whole reason why I have it so low on my tool bar
same, have it on 1
yeah that part I get, I just mean once it's on the back, you do move just as fast no?
speed dont matter if u know how to roll/use stamina
speed 100% matters even if you know how to roll/use stamina
yea its annoying to go slower
if you have speed you don't have to use stamina
It matter if you are going anywhere as you get a headstart
you can just walk out of most attacks hitboxes
but like in a fight, especially if ur in the swamp u should have ratatosk
and root armor save iron for padded
every single attack
other than wraiths and some others
you can't outwalk deathsquitoes. You can kite wraiths just by walking in a circle though.
roll
I don't think you can simply walk out of a morgen just lunging itself at you
true ashlands is a bit annoying wit all that
morgen no, but all asksvin attacks are also easily dodged just by walking in a circle around them.
loxes you dodge every attack just by walking backwards as long as you don't wear heavy armor
seekers too
anyone else find the mountain biome extremely easy. i was playing like my 5th run and i beat mountains within 3 days and only die 1 time
Yeah mountain, if you don't want the fenris armor, is extremely fast
i usually go back and get all the armor sets i missed
Yeah... but I still love it. Imo it's the nicest biome and I get hyped in every single playthrough when I hear the background music and finally got my wolf trophy tu craft the cloak 😄
mountain is fast if you rush it but silver is pretty much the easiest metal to mine and the gear is well worth the effort. And Fenris is just ❤️
love mining silver veins
i mean i lucked tf out and got 3+ veins and 3+ eggs and moder all on the mountain close to my spawn
i havent had to even set sail yet, all of my bosses/gear has been on the (massive) starting continent i have
if anything i prefer rushing through plains. You should get more than enough BM and barley/flax for your needs just finding 5 fuling totems and Frostner beats all the plains weapons for early Mistlands anyway, so no need to stick around for long.
yeah man lol i just finished up mountains last night and am getting into the plains, the only issue is I either have to move my entire base down, or run for 15 minutes straight to bring the bm to my house
if you expect it to be lots of trips--honestly, would be, given even for like a sword and shield that's like several stacks of BM IIRC to fully upgrade, and given metal's weight you can only take like a stack, maybe stack and a half, with nearly completely empty pockets and strength belt--maybe simpler to just take a blast furnace and artisan table down with workbench & forge + appropriate upgrades?
smelt & craft at a FOB down in the plains until you're done, then break those things down and move back to mountain base, or on to next base
There's also one single essential tool that takes 115 blackmetal to upgrade fully
Honestly, living in the plain is very convenient
oh yeah definitely--op seemed to imply he had already put a good amount of work (and hoarding stuff, presumably) up in a mountains base, but in general plains is one of the best to setup a main base in arguably
plains - black forest - mistland border is my ideal base location. Plains for a constant flow of black metal and lox meat, Mistlands for hares and BF for greydwarf eyes and building mats.
If you can find one that's naturally mist-free and has a few ancient roots (and a mine or dvergr tower if you're really lucky) that's basically the jackpot as far as i'm concerned.
I personnaly stay in meadows and have a lot of "2nd bases" but just with a portal, a house and a chest inside and everything is connected via a portal room
But yea during my first game my first base was in plains and it was lit
I do it the same way, one mainbase with nice buildings and a lot of smaller ones with a portal for farming stuff or quick access to hildir, haldor und the witch
yeah my first world i had a main base in the medows then i moved everything to a plains base, then again to a plains base near the mist
What I do once I am done with the starter base and bronze is sail with the extra copper. While sailing I look for good swamps, the traders and leviathans. When mining iron that copper will be very useful to process the iron in place while mining more. It will allow me to make the longship and from that point, with iron gear, a root harnesk and a long boat filled with iron and some copper. I start sailing close to where the mistlands start and find a good spot in the plains where I make my final base. This way I never sail any metal back, just forward and it feels extremely efficient. You can easily beat the game within 50 hours doing it like this
yeah... did that once, was to greedy and died with everything on a ship far away 😄 😄
I always make a backup portal close by (often in a forest that I will quickly need to go back to for some tin and copper) in case something bad happens and another on the same plain a little distance away
It's a good way to go about it for any island, leaving a portal where you land and carrying another one so that you always have a backup
pretty much how to play the game lmao
hell yeah i found turnips
I was beginning to think my world had no turnips tbh this is the 5th swamp ive xplored
NLWOAP
they were hidden in the base of a tree too i barely spotted them
Never Leave Without A Portal
ideally you want a portal to every island you visit
that way you can always bring boat mats through and haul whatever it is you need to haul if you ever go back
Th O doesent seem necessary there 😄
i hate wraiths so much it's unreal
i'm not sure if anyone got themselves in these situations where they fight an abomination at night and a wraith comes and starts killing you when your stamina is drained and the healing mead timer is still at 2 minutes
literally every single time
Why are you there at night? XD
because the fight took me a long time
cant say i have had that problem, but night is scary time when youre not yet geared with the equipment from that biome
pierce weapons are not very good against abominations hence why
i avoid night all of the time i'm a sleeper
i havent slept in like 800 days...oh and in valheim as well
are you a vampire
yes
Does anyone know if there are Meadows directly bordering the Mistlands in Valheim?
i am pale, cant handle light, am legally blind, ugly, despise all living things....actually no that sounds a lot more like a falmer from elder scrolls. i am a falmer
i dont know if it CAN happen, but i cant recall ever having seen that so my guess would be no
Didn't want anyone to remember it as "Never Leave With A Portal"
biome spawn conditions should be such that's impossible--per wiki Mistlands only start 5900m out, while meadows only extends at most 5100m out
VR Valheim IRL (fun short video)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3nmFO59WtkM
Which biome did he get that two-star cat from? I want one
Looks like meadows, but I heard a Troll and also some clues of swamp.
So ... in the first 3 biomes )
What's the entire world length? 10K?
Do lox have to stay in the plaina to breed?
I have a small patch of plains north of my base. I'm thinking of taming lox their and riding them south to my meadows base
do portals lose materials when destroyed? a wolf destroyed my tp and i lost my surtling cores
nope pretty flat rock and i checked everywheree
Hail, brave kin! Might ye permit a fledgling warrior to tread thy sacred grounds? Though my hands be uncalloused and my axe yet unbloodied, my heart burns with the fire of battle. If it please thee, I would learn under thy wise and valiant guidance in thy realm of Valheim.
If the other materials are still there, the cores should be too
hm thats weirds, maybe they glitched
O valiant kin, I hope my words have reached thy hearths. If it be silence for thought or council thou seeketh, I shall await with the patience of a seedling beneath Yggdrasil. Yet if the answer be nay, fear not to speak it; I shall respect thy will. What say ye?
says world radius is 10.5km
No, but if it was destroyed for awhile the world cleans up materials not in a base
so that's 21km all the way across (diameter)
Brave viking, ye may find many a kindred soul and a vast selection of realms to join within the chambers of #1024264966712340510, may ye have the best of luck in thy quest!
Aye, kind and generous one! Thy words are as a guiding star upon a foggy sea. I shall seek the chambers of servers-and-lfg and gather my fate among the many who wander there. May Odin’s winds fill thy sails with favor, and may fortune shine upon thee in all thy quests!
Fancy 👀
why is it when im looking for serpents i find absolutely none and when im just trying to go to a new island i find like 3 every time
the luck gods have decided against me i guess
have you guys ever seen 1 or 2 star leeches
Don't forget they only spawn at night or during storms.
I only look for them at knight anyway
i just always get screwed by the wind ;-;
just sail for them at night in oceans and it's a guaranteed spawn if you wait long enough
just make sure it's not a black forest/meadow shore or anything alike
Plenty
i've got done with my swamp playthrough yesterday and i haven't seen a single one when i've been there
Green & purple tints
yeah, haven't seen a single star or 2 star leech, not a single one
i still remember from my older playthroughs how 2 star leeches would instakill bronze-tier armour
not sure how valheim did it but it's become my most-favourite game of all time
and yet I am very picky about my games
i just don't think there's a survival game like valheim
I think it's that it decides to relax a lot
it's very calming
i've had my friends tell me that valheim is very grindy but i think that's a good thing
it makes gameplay very rewarding
the fact that you have to take a ship through the seas to transport ore to smelt is calming aswell
Personally I prefer to cut out a lot of the grind, like to focus on my exploration
Very versatile game as well
i've never really been big on exploring except finding swamp biomes, mistlands, and mountains, i'll probably do that
there are still some things and aspects i dislike about exploration in general
especially in certain biomes (mountains, mistlands)
Hello, I noticed today that I cannot use the devcommands while using mods (or for another reason, i don't know). Is there any way to spawn in 2-star boars?
you on a server? that's usually the problem
spawn boar 1 3
only works in singleplayer or self hosting uneless you have a mod that solves it for you.
but in that case --> #mods-issues or #mods-discussion
I play solo most of the time but only enable server once a friend joins in. Would it need to be completely solo to work?
Do you have console enabled?
if the wolf destroyed the workbench then yeah
Yo guys am i allowed to ask for sales in general chat
workbenches prevent despawn of items
Yes and i can open it with F5 ingame, but it shows a lot of error messages once i type in any commands.
Yeah, try to disable all mods and turn them on one by one to see which it is
For more in deep help the channels linked by Smiffe will do great 😄
I dunno exactly what you mean by "sales" but if you mean selling your own stuff if that's allowed I suspect it will be in the https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202323242891612230 channel
No no i was just asking if there migjt be a sale for the game since i been waiting on one and 10 dollars is good but i was hoping for 5
ahhhh--there are periodic sales and yeah people ask about them here/general chat
i dunno how far in advance they wanred, $5 would be 75% off so not sure how likely that is to happen
think the 'standard' price rn is $20
Ye ik just wishful thinking lmao been wating for one for a year
Plus with the new updates
ha no I feel ya
Anyways thanks man for helping
It is worth every penny
np
Ye ik but just kinda outa my budget
Fair
I agree but wouldn't want folks priced out
Oh absolutely 🙂
there are DEFINITELY shittier games AAA companies have shamelessly put out for that much
and not a lick of (effective) fixes after
I’ve paid 3¢ usd an hour for mine
lol
Tbh 60 is fair we have failures of games costing 80 at launch
I paid 0,019E per hour xD
What does that mean you rent the game? Lmao
If so
I divided how much i paid by the hours i played 😄
Ohhh
It’s a cost breakdown. I bought it for $20 usd and have played it for 879 hours
Damn
I for 16,79E and played 881,1 hours 🙂
I bought it for 10, but I'm not going to calculate the hourly rate because i honestly do not want to know how many hours I played 🤣
huh so 5 by that this is my rate currently 0.015$
i literally got valheim for free
I really like fishing and I recently got the fishing hat - is there no better food to unlock than fish&bread and fish wraps? I was hoping ashlands fish would have a recipe
Cooking skill doesn't affect cooking time, only affects crafting time of foods. Is this expected?
How
Ohh
- New Skill: Cooking - Reduces the time it takes to craft food, chance to gain +1 food while crafting
It doesn't say anything else so... assume yes
Ah, that's different than what it says in-game. In-game description is misleading
Far as I'm aware, no, but there are some potions that require specific fish.
I forget, are yellow mushrooms used in any cooking or just meads?
Just mead, AFAIk
0.008$ for me lol
Roger
It only affects the time creating food, i.e. at the caudron, mead ketil or prep table. Baking time and grilling time are unaffected.
Maybe with DN hopefully?
Nice 😄
$.0041 CAD, since we're flexing.
They probably wanted to generalize it... which means it unintentionally give misleading info
Am I crazy for building an octagonal lox pen out of core wood and iron fence?
Holaaa
WAIT
The best weapon to use against a troll is actually a pickaxe?????
You're thinking of a golem
Well hold on now
Unless the wiki is wrong, a troll's head actually neutral to chop and pickaxe damage
And that is still under very conditional circumstances
Oh, if thats the case then i would still argue that iron mace with iron buckler or silver shield would be more practical
Since it's also very weak to pierece damage, you'd deal 3x damage if you hit a troll in the head with a pickaxe (1x pickaxe damage + 2x pierece)
that doesent seem right 🤔
Trolls are immune to pickaxe if NOT hit in the head
I tested this recently, and the wiki is wrong. Weak points are invincible against chop and pickaxe.
Ok thanks, that seemed very wrong but also very funny if true
Miraculously hitting them in the head with a pickaxe would just deal normal amount of damage
I will check the data that was mined by kirilloid but i believe you are right
Also, resistances override, probably including weaknesses
Meaning that hitting them with a pierce weapon in the head would deal the equivalent of very weak, not weak + very weak
im sorry but the black forest looks so beautiful in high settings
the only thing thats missing is the terrain generation for waterfalls to pop up and it would be perfect
but they really nailed the graphical style in this game
Yeah, Black Forest is extremely good looking!
yes the pickaxe damage would do normal damage BUT the pierce damage of the pickaxe would deal very weak so it would be normal (pierce) + very weak (pickaxe)
if the wiki were accurate, which it doesn't seem to be
You’d be dealing very weak pierce damage and no pickaxe damage
Not according to what the wiki currently says, but it's probably wrong like someone said
As I said, I tested this recently
Not enjoying the slight against the Wiki.
#screenshots for a nice bf pic
I meant in that specific instance, I wasn't saying the wiki as a whole was wrong about things in general.
Derek takes it personal because he invented wiki as a whole (CEO of documentation)
Kinda wish we could stack other food items when placed with the serving tray. Lets it be used out in the open up to [stack] times and is decorative. even though it'd be weird to have a 20 stack of sausages look the same until depleted unlike feasts
what the hell is it with tamed animals and crowding at doorways and portals
and playing with my damn cart
I know, right?
Hm.. I think the Wiki was made by one of my collegues 🤔
it was me--I did it
Certainly wasn't me, I just help a bit.
I like to help from time to time.
bruh I took a whole ass nap 8 hours ago, woke up 5 hours ago, went about building and exploring, and I check this chat to still see derek and the other guy beefing
I'm not currently beefing with anyone. In fact the server is pretty quiet right now.
well, gonna go refight yagluth for my 2nd trophy
Nice. I took my staff of fracturing to use up some ancient seeds earlier. Got a whole pile of keys now.
I use them like LED strip lights under my eaves.
wish i could do that all day fr
lmao, sounds fun
I'm on a quest to get enough eitr to max all my staves, currently "misclicking" trollstav on some draugr towers for soft tissue
if you come in at the right angle, it lights up like a lightsaber.
Kinda crazy he has the energy to police this discord everyday
the honorary moderator
soft tissue from draugr? thats not a thing
I think he means dvergr.
oh yeah lmao mb, didn't even notice I said draugr
No, though they seem to love talking about me.
Well I hope you're doing okay
I'm good, thanks.
does make sense, just odd to me people still confuse those
I don't even confuse them, I just somehow manage to type draugr a lot when I mean to type dvergr, probably just because draugr makes more sense as a word
They're very similar words, I can see it happening easily.
We'll know soon enough the moment his username here changes into "Derek La Piñata".
I think Smiffe has gone to bed, my name is safe for now.
"For now". Indeed.
What're some good ways to block out some enemy spawns besides the obvious work bench?
https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Player_base anything on that list. Torches are good, don't even have to be lit.
Some people bury campfires in the ground, but I've not had much luck with it myself.
campfires are good because most enemies can't break them once they're unlit.
no
Cool beans
if you're just spawnproofing an island it gets even easier, but yeah campfires are the best option
well, enemies can break them, they just don't target them unless aggrod and unable to find a path to their nearest living target
(almost all other player base structures are attacked on sight by calm enemies and thus need to be hidden)
I meant that the height of an unlit campfire is such that most enemy attacks can't hit them. AOE attacks being an obvious exceptionl.
Just making them look great would be an issue
There's a trick with torches you can use.
What you need to do is take the 1m (standing) wooden beam and make it so it snaps at the top.
Then place it at the ground in such a way only the top of the beam is shown.
Place a torch on top of that, then use a 2nd 1m (standing) wooden beam with snap set at the bottom to connect to the one "in" the ground.
That way the beam will protect the torch, sort of making it "indestructable".
The nice part of it is, if you use the 2m (lying) wooden beams and connect them in their usual way, you will create a 1m high fence with spawn proof points at regular distances.
I dont get it, I have a plantation of barley, and I plan like 200 of them, but when I replant it I get like 40 extra barley. Shouldnt I get about 200 after replanting?
it wasnt even an argument tho what
If you plant 200, your yield will be 400+ unless you fuck up the planting and a lot of them die.
Or if you leave them in an open area where enemies can attack and destroy them.
how can they die?
Not enough space?
I thought that just prevented them from growing fast.
Then it's probably the enemies thing.
Well I plant them in a huge circle of stone. Theres no sign of damage
No, the plants will die without enough space
oh... well then
Should I fully upgrade my wolf armour before going in the plains?
IMO yeah
Fulings tend to hit hard but I think you can get away with like level 3 armor
Since the Armor for the Mountains at max level has the same armor rating as a level padded armor
You can handle plains armor in bronze or iron gear - just focus on fighting one mob at a time, don’t fight anything in a group
But you can definitely handle the plains in lvl 1 silver gear
Again, just don’t fight big groups of enemies at once
use bonemass, not bronze. iron minimum
Pro tip, alway keep a stack of wooden arrows on you so you can kill those pesky deathsquitos from a distance
Skill issue, but hey 🤭
yee that and/or perry slash 🙂
Plains in the day is actually quite nice - just don’t go picking fights with every enemy you see 😂
never tried bronze in plains so i cannot vouche for this. but i know iron is defo doable. "especially" with bonemass. For big mob scenarios. Otherwise, yee. Solo is best taking them on 1 vs 1 or 2 maybe 3 at a time
rolling generates iframes. use rolling a lot
Very relaxing until you hear the buzz
You just gotta be fast about those buggers
after awhile u will be so powerful its more like a real mosquito lol more of an annoyance
Or shoot them
kind of silly
Pacific rim mosquitos but annoying
they usually catch ya when gardening the plains. its "plain" silly at this point
Hence wooden arrows to kill them at a distance 😂
Bronze is 100% doable, you just have to mindful of your surroundings
You are more vulnerable and you can’t really block anything
So rolling is essential 😂
Spawn proofing is a thing
Poke
how do i change a characters name
No way in the game itself, maybe in files? But i dont know how.
........why is that not already a feature 😾
quality life has already been added in so many regards but thats a pretty good one right there.
i wanted to restore an ancient save (feels like it but it was only from ashlands release) that just so happens to have the same name as my current main character
Morgen gjall.
is there dual wield weapon here?
Skoll and Hati or berserkir axes are dual wielded. Although they’re functionally identical to two-handed weapons.
Faster though.
Hello! Would there be a reason why I'm getting Black Forest creatures spawning on my meadows base? This never happened before and it's quite annoying. There is no Black Forest nearby and I have torches where they are spawning. Is it maybe part of game progression?
What creatures specifically? At night, greydwarves will spawn after killing eikthyr and brutes will join them after the elder is defeated, but spawns are normal at day
and just spawnproof your base to prevent anything from sapwning in the base
Brutes, skeletons, etc. I've been on this base the whole run and these didn't spawn before. Spawnproofing seems to not be working, either.
Honestly I was thinking it had to do with placing those blue torches that get lit with greydwarf eyes. I think I noticed it started happening when I placed them, so I took them out, but it still happens
try spawnproofing with fire or workbenches i guess
Are they only spawning at night or at day too
Three skeletons just spawned on a torch lol
Not too sure, I'll check
is there a crypt in your base?
No, no, there's no Black Forest anywhere near
I'm on the silver age at the moment and this had never happened before during the whole time I've been playing on this base. It's not the hugest deal, it's just annoying because of the constant aggro sounds around and I'd like to know what could be causing it just for science and hoping my savefile isn't bugged :((
💡 Got the answer, so I'll leave it in case it can help anyone. It is normal and it is because of game progression. These mobs can start spawning in Meadows biome at night once you've defeated certain bosses 🙂
Aha - I thought this was mobs spawning next to a crafting table or something
But if you have no walls around your base they may have just wandered inside
Nah, I guess they appear where they're supposed to, but they instantly come closer to the base because they get aggroed by deer and necks 🙂
Those bloody necks 😂
They are SO annoying!
Now they brought their frenemies to hang out at my base? 🤭
Seriously! 🤣 The most annoying part about this is hearing them fight hahha
hi i have a question about bog witch
She's in swamp right? the same 10 spots thing? and of course the already explored area are burnt?
The spots that would be in already explored areas are moved elswhere, and while doing that they may move even other spots that would be in unexplored areas 🙂
how do i remove items from tar?
Use a pickaxe to move the tar
Or raise/flatten ground with hoe
alternatively, you can drain the tar pit. so make a path where the tar can escape
hi
It is a pity that you can't set the tar on fire.
It would make even better moats if you could.
It would eat the fps though.
Eh, everything above 10 FPS is fine 😛
Do you guys find Moder really easy to kill ? Or is just me
ya izi
She is not hard 🙂
First time was hard, after that not so much.
I just bow spam her 😂
It’s only hard to kill her if you are a goofball like me who gets the attention of 5 drakes, 3 rock golems, and a pack of wolves on your tail while trying to evade her death from above 🤣
Once you have fought her she becomes much easier 🙂 (tho that works for most of the enemies 😄 )
Very true.
Like first time you fight eikthyr in leather and he does that lightning stomp “WHAT IS BAMBEE DOING???”
Dies in thunderstruck
Moder was the easiest after Elder.. Yagluth the hardest. Didnt fight Fader yet
For me the Queen is harder than Yag usually 😄 (and also have to yet fight Fader)
Yagluth is easier cause you can just dance around him while he wastes time doing meteors and fist slam
The queen forces you into an enclosed space filled with bugs and the fog makes it hard to see
I think I died once in Queens Layer, but man.. Yagluth was a murdering machine for our group.
Yagluth becomes horrific if you attract the attention of multiple mobs 😭
Thats why you clear the area before the fight 😄
I think the big issue is when fighting the queen the mistlands gives you access to magic
Magic is SO overpowered
Do you do magic against the queen or punchy punchy?
Melee 😄 but this playthrough i will go for magic
I have yet to fight Moder, Yagluth and the Queen again, now more prepared so I can have a spare trophy
Did you guys drink your barley wine?
My group almost ran out of it 😂
We drank almost everything we had Haha
Moder is easy - spam arrows and don’t attract more mobs
Yagluth is moderately challenging - clear surrounding mobs form the area, stay close to him so he doesn’t laser beam your face, and keep moving when he throws rocks from outer space
The queen….
Is fine 😂🤭
And how do you expect doing well when you are all drunk~ 😏
I still find it funny how you can be doing reasonably well against her when suddenly she charges at you and YEEEETS you off the walkway 😂
THAT DOES IT! Never taking this cape off again!
Walks into Ashlands…..
WHY IS EVERYTHING ON FIRE???? 🔥😭🔥
To be fair, since I unlocked the Feather cape, I never ever used any other
Feather cape is the best cape
I would ONLY change, if they create a new RainCoat. Then it'll be my default cape. Gosh how I hate getting wet
FACTS!
LIES!
Unless its in the bathtub right?
Which cape do you think is the best?
The flametal cape looks like a carpet, not for me
What is your fav? 🥰
Stats-wise? Ashen.
Stamina cost reduction is king.
Feather cape has stamina cost reduction too
Aaah!
Well it has nice defence and is good in combat
But I’m a mage and I hate covering my face so I can’t breath 🤣
Not on attacks 😂
So feathers it is! 🤭
If not Ashen -> Lox because fuzzy wuzzy. 😄
Nah, i dont use attacks.
Loxen boxem try my foxem! 🥰🤭
It's just Lox 😭
Why did Odin recruit this guy? 😂
But loxen rolls of the tongue so beautifully 🥰❤️
But it's just lox 😭
I have one on top of my kitchen drawers!
Lox and, make the d silent and pronounce it with a dialect so the a sounds like e.
Loxem foxem, bing bang boxem!
Flaxen laxen, fling flang CAPE! 😂🤭
I’m tired and speaking gibberish.
I’ll show myself out now 🤭
I will overlook it if you have Winter change your name to Sildarflamen 😛
Oh, I also like using Lox to make Rugs. They yield the best rugs
10th mines and 0 vegetable
Man I wish we could combine capes
although it wouldnt be ingame, imagine getting askvin cape with flying cape
giga zoom the wind
I wish we never gain that capability.
we won't
I am just saying I wish, let me have my dreams
Althought deep north may have an obligatory cape/armor for the coldest temperatures
I wonder if the current cold status will be enhanced in the deep north
Given we don't need fire resist in the Ashlands...
And only works for a few seconds when stepping on lava
Doubt they will do needing frost resist again since that has already been done 🤷♂️
What is the new static movement speed bonus for the reworked Askvin Cape?
Mountains is going really well so far
I’ve already crafted a level 2 frostner and 3 silver shields by accident when trying to upgrade it lol
Still not got enough wolf pelts for a cape and need to cook up some more frost resistant before I head back
do we know experience gains for magic skills with ashlands weapons? the wiki is still not updated
@vocal rivet pinging you since you're a wiki guy and might want to look into that
A wicked wiki guy.
11th mines, lets see
good luck!

Which wiki do you guys favour?
fandom
Ah, gotcha
the only other one i know of is IGN, which has been wildly outdated everytime i looked at it
Yeah, there's just kind of a cool new wiki group forming that is doing a really good job compared to fandom, but they're not quite as prolific
Which one?
oh if you mean wikis as a whole, yea i wouldn't say i like fandom 😅
keep hearing bad things about fandom, but of the available valheim options, it is currently the best one thanks to the people updating it
absolutely
To be honest I should admit that I'm shilling for a friend of mine. But I do think his group does incredible work with wikis
It always comes down to the community who maintain the content, though
That is... Very interesting...
do u need good pc to run dedicated server?
depends honestly. I run one on an Intel NUC, but thats for me and 2 friends with no mods at all. That runs just fine for us. But if you want more, you might need better
I think the most important thing is to have good internet connection, but it should be decent one if you want more than 2-3 people imo
True, a wired internet connection with decent speeds is a must
thanks cuh
online play is still not working after the patches? Any ideas?
Hello!
Please advise modifications that add new enemies and/or bosses
(Monsrtrum installed)
Ask in #mods-discussion 😄 folks there might have better idea
Thank you
should i place smth near golem in a trap to prevent it from despawning?
Nope, no mobs exept night spawns and raid spawns despawn 🙂
good, ty
aight finally, on the 12th mines a vegvisir
so strange, in other runs ive done maybe max 3 mines lmao
RNGeezus at work as usual 😄
i was lucky to find the queen wihout vegvisir at all
that's some real luck
what is respawn timer for golems? i tried a wine staff on it and the wine fkin destroyed him xD
the cooldown for a spawn attempt somewhere around you is 2 minutes per chunk (64x64 meter segment of the world), with a chance of 25.6% for it to succeed
I'd like a wine staff in real life, was that maybe what jezus had. His walking stick was actually a wine staff?
Jesus was a goon sack 😛
oh its vine, esl moment
No worries, we knew what you meant.
Do i need to change chunks to increase spawn chance?
yea moving around helps spawn things faster than staying in the same chunk
🎶 I LIKE TO MOVE IT MOVE IT 🎶
All Vikings all over the world
Original Mad Sevrhan pon you case man
I love how all Vikings move them body
And when you move you body
Oh ya move it nice and sweet and sexy, alright.
just adhere to the age old #1 rule in rpgs: dont stand in the fire
Pierce resistance helps a lot as almost all of his physical damage is pierce (except a low blunt damage on the meteors)
But the fire is warm
YOU!
ARE IN!
THE ASHLANDS!!! 🤣
YoU dO nOt NeEd WaRm!!! 🤣
Good luck! 🥳
technically I also gotta try this Reto guy too but I dont feel like its necessary
It really isn't
so is helheim, and if you hug the fire that's where you'll land
if you are a swordsman, go for it, if not, only go if you want a worthy opponent
Oh interesting. So my old workd still works
This "worthy" opponent looks like a pain
I know
pretty sure helheim is icy cold
did i mess up? is it muspelheim?
Muspelheim is the one with fire, yes 🙂
oh right i just remembered the phrase "i invoke the fiery rites of muspelheim and give myself up to the infernos embrace" from valkyrie profile covenant of the plume
Yes, yes you did 🤭
It's confusing cause we associate hell with fire, but helheim is the realm of the dead in norse mythose - aka it's freezing
when graydwarves bother me while woodcutting, i like to axe them a question
I’m gonna try my luck in here lol. Any friendly uk servers I can join with my pre existing character ?
What’s the best weapon for dealing with the mountains and going into the plains?
prolly the bow
Actually just plains, I’m about to kill moder
Anything silver works pretty well but pierce from a spear, knife or bow will help for lox
The crystal battleaxe is great for hitting multiple fulings at once
how do damage calculations even work in this game
do i take less damage with a larger hp bar?
do i take more damage when low on stamina?
does some concept of crit hits happen?
why is it i can fight a morgen at half satiation relatively fine, but struggle against a given charred warrior immediately after?
https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Damage_mechanics#Armor
How armor reduces damage 👆
The amount of health or stamina doesn’t affect your damage taken.
Staggered enemies take 2x damage
i swear theres something fishy with the damage maths
Did that charred warrior have a star or two? They deal similar damage to morgens.
no stars
Yo I just got a 2 star boar spawn right next to my world spawn and got him tamed on day 2, is this the god run chat?
only if you make an infinite boar farm
That’s the next move, tbh boar farms are basically just food generation for my wolves in the future
Remembering that one, glorious patch where Boars would eat only Carrots.
Good times.
I still usually only feed them carrots out of habit 😂 don’t normally start taming boars until near the end of Black Forest
So I just found out that while there are multiple possible spawn locations for the ||Mysterious Locations that are part of the Dyrnwynn quest||, only the one shown by the last vegevisir in a putrid hole is active.
I just sailed way over to the original location I found, only to discover a normal monument.
hey does anyone wanna see my base rq?
just finished and ill stream if someone wants to see
replay to my message within 5 min
no - the more likely answer is that you found the location prior to the patch, and the patch reset the location
so the second one showed you the new location. It doesnt change the spawn location.
Guys, is Valheim a good game? I was thinking if I should get it while I still can
Silver battle axe is the BEST!
Legit my friend and I tackled a sealed tower, and I cleared each floor with that bad boy
It is AMAZING!
I’ve spent around 1200 hours and it’s still just such a good game
It took me about 5 patches to catch on that they changed that 😂🤭
wow, what do you like about it the most, I'm kind of curious
hi sildar
I love 3 main things - the graphics, the building, and just how amazingly Nordic everything feels
Heeeeey Obi! 🥳
yeahh its definitely my favorite right now, its a very versatile experience, either you can re-enact stardew valley or dark souls depending on what you feel.
You can legit spend hours in this game just messing around with farms, building houses, walking around aimlessly, then suddenly you find that perfect spot where the light cuts through a pair of trees so perfectly and you decide you need to build a new base cause this place is just so perfect 🤩
yeahh once i catch up to the ashlands again i'm hoping to take building and stuff more seriously
Wow cool I might buy this game
It’s even better when you play with friends - the endless shenanigans you can get up to are just too good 😂
First time I played with one of my friends and we tried sailing a boat in stormy weather - we ended up in the middle of the ocean having capsized the boat cause of our dreadful piloting skills 🤣
Thanks I'll keep in mind!
Ahhh....haha....i wouldn't say "Better" or worse really, its a different experience, it can be hilarious but i take singleplayer more seriously.
I highly value my time with my friends, so I suppose that’s why I love playing together so much
But it really helps that Valheim is a perfect platform for it 🥰
You are asking whether a game is good in a discord server full of fans of the game...
What answer were you expecting?
Where else would I ask?
Some place that is NOT dedicated to the game itself specifically so you get answers from people that might not be dedicated to the game and could be more casual players as most people here are more into it than most
im only like 6 hours into my first run lmao
can you just chill, like every now and then.
😮💨
Always am
If you believe that then it is what it is but the outside perception is that you have an undertone of passive aggressiveness
People will read and understand whatever they want regardless of what is being said. It is not worth bothering anymore. Hasn't been for a very long time
Yes yes well you act a bit coldly just in a way i'm worried will turn off new members or players.
I think its a phenomenal game. It gets really unforgiving at times tho. Like, sucker punch you hard once in a while and it can get frustrating.
But I still love it. despite certain bosses
which
I hate the queen so much
oh yes thats the worst one for sure.
I havent tried Reto but im not a fan of him just insta killing you no matter how tough you are
I dont like that concept.
(i mean thats a mini-boss but i guess)
And I havent tried Fader yet
i suppose i did die to him more than fader
i am going to tell you that fader is peak and the best fight in the game and if that sets up your expectations and your personal experience is disliking him well 🫠
That is of a very little indication. I played through elden ring and there are people who think that certain bosses are super fun and in some case, I think doing that is a mental disease.
So when people tell me "this fight is amazing!" I don't believe them until I find them amazing too on my own
and somehow im in no hurry to try Fader anyway since theres nothign afterward for now
at the very least aesthetically peak, compared to the boring queen.
oh that, you are probably right
LoL!
Did she punt you?
a bunch of times yes
It’s always so intense in that fight
You poke her a bunch, she burrows away, then suddenly you just hear angry bug noises and she explodes out of the mists and YEETS you into the abyss 😂
I fought her without the cape recently, and she nearly killed me like 3 times 🤣
Eventually I just had to hug the walls and pray - not to mention she likes to spew bug vomit at you from nowhere
if you like survival games (like minecraft) then it will be one of the best games you've played
You won't regret it, especially when it's on sale atm. Best use of 10 euros for content it will provide.
Actually so effing real
This game is a love hate relationship of torture and relaxation and I'm loving every second of it
If valheim has taught me anything in life it’s expect the unexpected
I love the fact there is no hunger/thirst meters to follow all the time like in most survival games. Foods are still important for stats they provide but you never die on hunger.
exactly
true
food is SUPER important ngl. i hate going out without good food XD
but i don't wanna eat during my base building.
honey
Bees
i mean for base yeah....
Low level feasts are great for building when you have progressed further in game.
but i don't count honey as superfood
My favorite way to explore is triple Stam and fenris
its a superfood for chilling at the abse

triple health and fenris
i don't wanna just get oneshotted by a random deathsquitto
Tank Fenris 😭
trust me you still get 2 shotted if you don't have bonemass on
Imagine Tower shield Full armor triple health
lmao ashlands can be so funny, its like mobs hiding behind trees waiting for you to start fighting something and then morgens, voitures, asksvins, multiple twitchers all come out
Unironically I am running with the silver sword like a maniac
that's good lol
then im not gonna fight until i get my double axes
Good news, you can continue using Crystal battleaxe even in Ashlands. Extra spirit damage is effective against Charred and it doesn't have MTP so it's also good against groups.
Double wha?
Berserkir Axes.
Huh... Is that a mistlands thing because I have no idea
Ashlands.
Anyone who mains axes as a weapon finally gets something awesome.
Especially after how shit the Mistlands axe is.
#JusticeForAxesInMistlands ✊
Make Poison useful. No other changes needed.
Unfortunately poison is not effective in Ashlands even if it was changed more useful.
Compared to any other DoT, it isn't effective anywhere.
Yeah, fixed my statement a bit.
You mean "compared to fire"? Because unless i'm forgetting something there are no other DoT effects in Valheim.
And poison is plenty effective in Mountains, plains and Mistlands. It's just that pretty much every enemy in Ashlands is resistant or immune to it.
I meant "compared to other elements."
And define "plenty effective"? Because poison sucks unless you're not hitting the target that often.
Well yeah, you have to give the DoT effect time to actually do its damage. It's kinda in the name.
Poison dot stacking like fire does would make it OP as hell
you can already kill non-starred seekers with 2 ooze bombs and ticks & seeker brood with one. All you have to do is throw them and run around in circles for 10 seconds.
but i wanna use double axes
ya
Yes
if you wanna spend a few hundred hours exploring the world, punching evil monsters, crafting badass weaponry and building anything from cozy little huts to impenetrable fortresses then yes. if not...then probably still yes
Just broke 800 hours playtime. Still not bored. So yes.
from my objective view yes
but u will face insane grind very quickly into the game
If you like survival and exploring game, if not then not
and its too time consuming, you will be mining for hours just for 1 gear set which is absurd
but game itself is immersive and fun
what u doing nowadays ingame? 400 hours here. doing vh runs
i would say the requirements for gear is unbalanced
agree for the most part, but u can change this on world modifiers by upping resource rate
so u dont need to do so much hold left mouse button simulator
also there are some tricks like troll copper ore mining or digging around silver vein a bit to break a part of it at once
kinda seems like terraria
its more liek minecraft
Building mostly. Though i recently started a fresh playthrough with a new char too
ya i feel that, i found the more i play, the more i start to enjoy building
terraria with more grinding and items dont shoot out cats
but its more immersive
i would say terraria and valheim are both equally fun
and imo they are > minecraft
get valheim def
ye
I love building in Valheim. And as of every other builder, we all must love farming for Tar
time for some gaming
I notived that if you are not a builder, Tar is a resource you can completely skip. But if u like building it's gonna be huge farm grinding
ya this current run is the only time ive cared about tar
its weird that it currently only has usage for building. would be cool for some napalm-like bomb to launch into forts
like something that just keeps burning the ground for a long time, killing bunch of stuff inside
Tar is surely skippable but it unlocks also some furniture pieces that raise comfort level so even small amounts of tar is recommendable.
You are right, but I think that if u farm a single Tar Pit, you are good to go
Some of them yield around 80-100 per pit
I've yet to find a way to farm Tar, but it doesnt seem viable. Like two spawn a day? Not good
Yeah better to find new pits if you want more tar.
I suppose you could set up a portal ring, but it seems like a lot of work for little return. Just pop through every couple of days
It's mostly useful after you've already cleared a bunch.
If you have undrained tar pits in easy reach draining those is much faster.
You might have gave me an idea, because I did farm a ton of Pits already. I think I can link them together
Does anyone know of any good YouTube guides on the scientific part about blocking mechanics?
Something that really explains the link between food/block/armor etc?
I’ve read the guides/wiki etc like 20 times. I kinda understand it; but it just doesn’t feel natural yet.
Here’s how armor and block armor reduces damage https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Damage_mechanics#Armor
If the stagger damage (physical and lightning damage) is more than 40% of your max health after block armor is applied, you will be staggered and the block will fail.
Equipped armor doesn’t affect what you can block.
Is this game gonna get out of early access
After deep north 1.0, most likely yes
Of course it is, the next update will likely be 1.0
Noice
I thought they were planning to flesh out the early game before 1.0, or was the bog witch updatemeant to do that?
1.0 will be deep north + early biome content
oh right
what do we do next after beating yalguth
build something 😉
