LOL
good one
reminds me of the good days where i get a skeleton raid
managed to keep like 8 archers alive and sat there blocking
went from like 18 to 41
Is troll armor worth upgrading ?
YES
Worth is subjective to the individual.
i find it cheap and not too much of a task so i do it
Troll hide isn't used in much else
prolly could upgrade it and just mark it as a makeshift bronze armor if u don't wanna deal with more mining lol
I still would like some straight linen padded (actually just padded) light armor. I have a thing for gambeson
some kind of armor
Basically a thick coat/cloth armor
gumball armor 💪
Medieval padded jacket, layered cloth meant to be resistant against cuts and worn under metal armor like mail.
Very effective for its time actually.
actually i think i've seen one before
Padded actually has one if you look at the sleeves coming out from the armor.
Very effective in general, tbh
Needle armor
yea was just about to say
https://i.etsystatic.com/6664294/r/il/c823c3/301090118/il_570xN.301090118.jpg
Gambeson can be absolutely fly as hell.
Yea padded armor looks like a gambeson of some sort
1 durability (1 hit would be enough to break all the needles), anything that melees you instantly dies
It's gambe underneath the iron plates.
Person was asking about a version that didn't have the iron plates as the "light armor" for the Plains.
Pretty much, we could have padded with and without mail armor over.
Probably just Linen Thread + Lox Pelt if they were going to make one.
lox armor would be interesting, wonder what the set bonus would be though
Cuteness.
+30% smell
Heavy steps - damage things underfoot when sprinting
imagine it being some sort of silly taming/farming bonus given how much farming happens on the plains
Probably just the light armor and maybe cold resistance. All capes past the wolf one give this though.
threaten me with a good time huh
Could just be slash resistant.
As we have a pierce resistant already.
I kinda feel that not all capes should have the cold weather resist. Or at least not totally.
I disagree, lemme use whatever cape I want past mountains, tbh I wish we could do something like tailor a cape to look like one cape while giving the stats of another
Blunt resist also would make sense
for instance, make a feather cape that looks like a linen cape when equipped
Make Flametal Armor that looks like Rag Armor plz.
I wouldn't argue with cosmetic caping, actually.
Transmog for everything would probably be a 1.0 QoL patch.
nah, I just want capes since they're just vanity/utility
Transmog suggestions have had mixed feedback from the community, so it's pretty murky how the devs feel about it. Could be nice, though. Have to imagine it'd be a popular thing to mod in, too
I want to be able to like how an armor/weapon looks without knowing it will be obsolete in 2 biomes...
It has? People can just not use it if they don't want it.
To be fair, I do also think more armors could bring in some amount of cold resist.
I'd think there'd be a scale of downgrades cold (cold -> nothing, freezing -> cold) and total cold resist which is what we have now.
Just based on my memory of up/downvotes, the attitude could've shifted (or I could be remembering wrong). I think the most common reason for distaste was that it weakens the sense of concrete progression across biomes.
I wouldn't mind it as an endgame thing, myself, but I don't feel particularly strongly about it
my god arbalest is a perfect weapon for making gjalls fuck off permanently
i love my crossbow
gonna carry that around in my back pocket for situations where I just gotta say "I'm a mage, but..."
Y'all ever kill a gjall with a greatsword? It's fun.
I'm gonna harp on gambesons with styling again for my fashionheim fantasies
I jumped on top of one once and whacked it to death with my axe, pretty fun time
The helm would be a buffalo style headdress looking thing
"...this thing is DOPE" I assume it continues like that?
what to do if i have completed the game?
Chop down a tree, roll its log into the water, and then roll the log standing on it.
nah it continues with a loud ass echo across the mistlands of a crossbow bolt being unloaded into a gjall's ass sacs
Get all the side quests done and unique items
yep
many...many many many things lol..
tame animals, look for starred variants, farm, build, explore, fight with different builds, trophy hunt, hildirs quests, cook, craft..
Sail boats. Find Hildir and play viking dress up. Experiment with cozy house building; make cozy mountain cabin with yule trees.
all sorts of stuff, rn my goal for now after I finish mistlands & ashlands is collecting every trophy
rancid remains & draugr elites have quickly become my most hated enemies
build build build and build, level skills, explore the map as much as possible, fish everywhere.
Oh, and there is fishing too I guess.
- Craft Fishing Hat
75% of the playtime in my current world i am imagining is going to be after i beat fader....i just want the food/equipment/building materials before i spend too much time on anything.
I'll do a lot when host send a copy of the world =)
Starting my new playthrough, trying to not die as often lol
honestly, sometimes I just treat this game like an open world survival version of stardew valley, there's so much farming & cooking you can do that you can just run through the motions and relax lol
i am so hype that farming is a skill...i have never been so excited to farm carrots
it's why I was so excited for bog witch because more food/farming content had me feral for the month or so leading up to the update
And once you have the Scythe you enjoy farming more.
Deathless runs are fun IMO. I'm currently doing another on Hard preset after I succeeded on Normal difficulty.
except for my GOD DAMN MISTLANDS SHROOM FARM
nah, I'll damn any of the gods
That. Hopefully it gets fixed soon™.
The only reason i'm trying not to die is because i spend so much fucking effort into actively leveling my skills
im trying on normal since its my first time actually trying to rise skills and not die
Yeah, I recommend that. On Hard you gotta be much more careful.
worst part of hard for me so far was the mountains
absolute shithole up there now, especially wolves and frost caves
Wolves are the one enemy I genuinely don't get the issue with because they are the easiest enemy to parry in the game.
Just push the button when you hear the sound cue and it's guaranteed perfect timing.
honestly, I disagree, their attack animation is very short and they recover from parries fairly quickly
however, yeah a single wolf isn't an issue ever, super easy to take care of
when you get cornered on a slope by 4 wolves with little stamina though, different story
Something AoE always helps. Either Atgeir or Sledgehammer.
I've never even looked at the animation because their blocking is all sound-based.
one wolf is fine, you get like three on you and you’re dead
I tried atgeir, slight elevation difference got me killed a few times
Sledgehammer has no elevation problems then.
not a sledge fan, so that's a me issue
Ooze Bombs then?
gonna be so honest I've never made ooze or bile bombs
Ooze bombs make the Mistlands' Infested Mines a cakewalk.
Bombs are quite good, especially Bile Bombs that are even stronger.
Until Ashlands, when everything is immune to poison 😦
Swamps and Mountains both get me by the stamina usage. I just... i crave the speed.... i cant stop sprinting
Yeah and either resist or immune to Fire.
yeah, from what I've heard they are, but so far for mistlands I've been using the bomb on a stick
At least in mistlands i cant see a foot in front of me so the greyhound instinct isnt so loud
Mistlands I feel like I'm sprinting most the time because that's how you climb things you can't normally walk over.
yeah, same with mountains, at least in mistlands you have a lot of options for dealing with the extra stamina drain
Finally found one more infested mine, the last one I needed to finish my sealbreaker.
Fought the queen blind for the first time - my review for iron gate is that they really need to rework that boss arena
Without even intending to I cheesed the fight right at the start
The few times I did get attacked by the queen felt scary. I imagine it's the same as other bosses though - its scary the first time you fight, but once you have dodge timings and stuff down it ain't too bad.
I did like the message that appeared when the fight started though - that's a nice reference lol
just ran into a 1* gjall with a fire weakness from my cape
i run with scissors a lot
I'm just hiding inside a giant skeleton rn and shooting it with my arbalest
Those things only get stars at night time, and they scary guys lol
oh thank fuck, it just turned to day and I was wondering why I couldn't find it, good to know it despawned
Dawn started and you wonder "Where war horn sounds?"
why shouldnt i run with scissors
Bring fire resistance barley wine. Resistances override weaknesses.
fully aware, I'm used to running fenris with it so I forget to bring fire resist with me when I'm running eitr-weave
I just opted to take off my cape while fighting it
Do you have a staff of protection? Weaknesses aren't applied to the bubble.
yeah I do, didn't have much problems fighting it tbh
was just a scary experience at first lol
Fighting one isn't as bad as being jumped by one lol. The worst is when you know it's there but you have no idea where it is
yeah. that's how it started lol, instantly broke my bubble when I finally found it
why is flametal pink?
Because it's secretly made from dead Flamingos
flamingos are only pink if they eat shrimp. shrimp confirmed in valheim?
Ocean Update forshadowing?
why does doing things have to create all this fucking smoke all the time
building, repairing, fueling fires, cooking, farming....its so obnoxious and i can't see anything
Why do you have to use swearwords all the time?
Ronnie here is a berzerker i assume
maybe
angy
I have question.
So Irongate already stated why they don't think angling melee attacks is a good idea. My disagreement aside, did they also say why not farming blueberries and raspberries?
i guess to incentivize foraging
I accept that more than I do the reasoning with angling attacks
Fr, it makes no sense to not allow Berry farming
We already have carrots
And that's as someone who grows em in his backyard
We don’t need any more than one farmable ingredient in each of the early biomes, and meadows does not have any because we don’t have a cultivator.
I'm just talking about the capability. Growing carrots irl is actually harder than berries
Getting the seed at least
Why have two items obtained in the same way for the same purpose (crafting food)
yeah i have raspberries in my back yard
but why can we plant beech seeds?
👽
But that argument can be used against any farmable veg in game
you can either forage or farm vineberries too
Mushroom farming of tree stumps would be cool too
but it is still annoying, especially when a troll smashes some berries or something for them to never, ever respawn
actually screw it, I also reject the reasoning for not being able to plant berry bushes
I'm imagining it's to incentivize foraging. Fair enough, but when something breaks the bush, it's gone forever. That just annoys me.
they're honestly kind of a pain in the ass to find in decent quantities sometimes
until late game when you can find yourself floating them
Or add a mechanic where birds landing have a very small chance of sprouting a Berry Bush cuz that's usually how they spread irl
we're not entitled to all of the devs' reasoning, as an aside. we're lucky we get as much insight and influence as we do.
but yes, it's been communicated that farming forageables is unlikely to happen, as 'going out into the world to collect things' is intended to remain part of the core gameplay loop
Be great if breaking the bush at least dropped a seed then. Just one.
i don't really want to have to always forage like a caveman, its fun for the first like half of every experience in a biome and then its just so bleh, the skill is called farming, not farming & foraging
foraging I do honestly get though. The mushrooms are at least there for this
goddd I HATE that they put a fire weakness on the feather cape
And thistle. Not like you'll accidentally break something they spawn from.
It is definitely unfortunate to lose a berry bush, especially if it's destroyed by enemies or like a falling tree
The weakness is worth it for the other effects
Hey. Just joined the server. Just looking to find a small group to start a new world with
Legit. And since these are raspberries they should have as many seeds as individual cells
it is but god damn I got grazed by a single gjall fireball and just had to accept my death was coming in the next 2 seconds from DoT
idrc about the logic behind foraging or not, i like the feeling of self-sustainability, irl and in-game, there are other games where you can plant mushrooms and berries...
sure, but valheim isn't other games.
It makes sense early game but at some point it doesnt. I can make siege equipment and magic but not collect seeds from a berry?
Yeah i gotta say it'd be awesome if you could farm berries
Berries are irrelevant by that point, what would you need a seed for?
it's not about making sense, it's about keeping their acquisition varied and motivating you to leave the base
Mead is still useful and uses berries iirc
same reason why very few trees drop their seeds at a sustainable rate
i don't wanna leave my base if i already have a garden 😤
that and knocking back tasty meads is always in
They should buff the volume of the viking belch after drinking from a tankard.
I use em as feed. But it's usually cuz I'm just in the ha it of collecting em and have a stockpile at that point
There are a lot of foods that can be made entirely from farmed items, such as turnip stew and boar jerky
i want to farm everything
defeated a lux and like 20 of those little shits before killing bonemass 🔥
Eh this all sounds way to formal. Looks more like applying for a job than making actual friends
this, my current food arrangement for general base chores (when I'm not using feasts) is bread, onion soup, and salads
My friend cleared a fuling camp and tamed a lox before killing the elder in our first playthrough.
😭 too real
damn, we got 2 abominations to clear out a village lol
Well it was worth a shot. Later y'all
His map was covered in deaths
then killed a lux
somewhat 😃, i guess its streamlined because so many people are looking....i am just playing solo as i make friends in the server then ask directly to play basically..
I've mvr actually played along with others. Always been solo cuz my play times are erratic
After they fix the damn portal bug on xbox I might try to find a group
im gonna go crazy if i have to fight through a 23rd infested mine just to find the STUPID QUEEN VEGSVIR ITS BEEN EIGHT HOURS HELP
subject hi
When doing that search, also look up along the mined out walls. In one of my last games I found a Vegvisir perched on a ledge above the usual line of sight.
will do, thank you ;v:
mmm, bread, onion soup, and salad
Dumb question: is it worth it to fully upgrade the heaviest armors?
Because i seen that defense has diminishing returns
I level up armor to level 3
Is it worth it to go beyond ?
depends on the specific armour piece
bronze no, iron no, wolf yes, padded maybe, carapace yes, flametal yes.
The diminished returns still make a noticeable impact on how many hits you can take
tbh i dont see a reason to not triple up on feasts
i think that the light armours are always worth fully upgrading
75 75
65 65
55 55
thats like, Really good
No, upgrading to level 4 is too expensive
who up refining they eitr
Light armies definately
who else up hunting they serpent
One feast, one health and one stamina food is better
Btw does yagluth deal ONLY Magic dmg? (Lightning and fire)
what armour are you looking at
Still, thats really good and almost 200 of both stats?
in like 90% of cases, no need to swap unless you want to specialize your loadout towards something
His meteors have a very low blunt damage
the fact that you can't carry them around
Now, i cant deny having the ashlands feast and both of the ashlands pies isnt a complete improvement
tbf if you're running out of time on feasts before getting back to your base or at least an outpost, you've fucked up big time
you'd be surprised 😎
But regardless.
Feasts are a 10/10 feature
the 50 minute digest time:
So bonemass is useless against him
consider most of my expeditions to be fuck ups...cuz i will literally be spending days away from base, resting at campfires and eating what i took with me...
Use eikthyr’s power
this, plus the plains feast being called "the culinary equivalent of a hug" makes me feel warm inside in the middle of vietheim
pretty much, eikthyr is better since his fight is almost entirely dodging
his fist slam is pretty easy to tank if you have good armor + fire resist, everything else just take cover
I block the meteors. If you run away you’ll take too long to get back and won’t be able to deal as much damage.
i just take feasts for the initial adventure
Can't you somehow facetank him?
if you have full padded and fire resist, yeah you can do a pretty effective job at facetanking
if you bring literally any other armor though, facetanking isn't viable
One of his attacks leaves fire on the ground. You can stay inside this long enough to deal some damage but will need to leave eventually.
Fenris armor? Considering most of the dmg is fire
I brought fenris, it was good enough to keep me safe from a couple attacks but not enough to let me mindlessly tank
And i assume the archer we have with the root should stay at safe distance
that archer should be downing barley wine like their life depends on it, because it does
Yagluth is resistant to pierce. Even with elemental arrows, too much damage will be resisted because of the bow’s base pierce damage.
they will die instantly to the fire weakness otherwise, make sure they have frost or silver arrows as well
honestly, yagluth is like a much scarier bonemass imo
You can use fire resistance barley wine. It’s very cheap and provides the same fire resistance.
both are most effective at close range and most effectively fought at close range, both force you to use mead or resists
just beat him up
I.... Don't like heavy armors
I tried wearing once. They make you walk like a snail
I prefer light armor too but I don’t make fenris armor as it requires too much luck for the fenris hair
Too late. I'm already on the last upgrades
Not luck. Just checking 10-ish frost caves. 😄
fenris armor is the most stylish armor in the game.
i will NOT hear ANY other opinion
heavy armour typically looks cooler so i cope with movement penalty
Is five caves enough for you to make one piece of it?
More than enough
if it weren't for embla armor I'd agree
flametal armour*
Ask armor’s jump stamina reduction combined with feather cape and the new lightfoot mead is so good
asks armour looks so mid but so good at the same time i don't know what to do
its a rather simple set
black metal chests are so fcking hype 🤬
You need 20 fenris hair for the trousers and 20 for the body armor. I managed to get 25 from two caves.
I think all upgrades need at least 10. And there's three of those.
So that means you will need at least 5 caves to get two out of three armor pieces. And a lot more for the headpiece, considering the drop rate of the Cultist Trophy.
I’ll see if I can get any luckier in my next playthrough. Maybe howling caverns could be more reliable?
I dunno.
Most important is when you see the fenris hair from the tapestries, to not only take the hair showing up when going over it with your mouse, but to demolish the tapestry as well. That provides you with some extra fenris hair, making collecting that resource easier.
for fenris hair maybe, but you won't get any cultist trophies since those only spawn ulvs and geirrhafa
I know about all of this, it didn’t generate in my caves when I first tried getting it and I haven’t tried again since.
I usually mix up 1 Fenris piece with Wolf armor piece and Drake helmet for some movement speed and armor mixed together.
Not all caves have them.
My first cave had only two of those tapestries in a single room, not a single fenris hair tapestry for those small side areas and only 2 pieces of fenris hair at a pedestal.
The second cave had more rooms, more pedestals and more tapestries, making collecting it a lot easier. I think I ended up with 10 in the first cave and 15 from the 2nd. So SNG does matter here.
SNG?
Sadistic Number Generator. (The one always working against you)
Like the wind?
Somewhat Nice Gjall
Like the You are being hunted event hitting you when you're almost out of food and just that far enough away from your base to make it with some food HP left.
So... totally avoidable scenarios?
If you do howling, the raid unlocked by the silver chest brings cultists to your doorstep
I doubt it. My base is on an island and even Trolls don't get there.
So far only Drakes and Swamp creatures did.
Ah. Well, yes, a spawnproofed base would remove that possibility.
It's not even spawn proofed. I think the distance and LoS are just too large for them to get there.
And since the only creatures near my base are deer and neck, trolls won't attack those anyway.
god i hate serpent hunting
They just dont want to appear right? 😄
always there at the worst time, never there when your ready
Don't you mark the storm spawns at your map?
found an absolutely blessed swamp with 6 geysers all within running distance of each other, gonna put pics in #screenshots
I usually mark the areas Serpents have spawned for the future hunting trips.
sometimes you just gotta sate the urge to craft 60 lingering stamina mead
let it be known the mage of valheim is good for two things: killing trolls and pissing mead
Man, my current world has the worst serpent spawn chances. I'm on day 350ish and I've seen exactly 2 spawn. And I'm on the water ALOT the way I'm situated.
Hi
the one that makes me miss several times in a row at 95% chance to hit in City of Heroes, or cause improbable odds to land against me in a string.
took a break from valheim bc of the swamp, going back tdy wish me luck
i can't seem to figure out how to melee a fallen valk. i get better success just kiting it around and shooting it with ling ripper
which i should have used jade stone on in retrospect
yeah, i think i'm going to make a new one
the mistlands are so pretty and calm and such a vibe and then you get attacked by a gjall spawning ticks along with a 1 star seeker and a seeker soldier and you fight for 5 minutes straight getting down to 3 health at one point barely surviving the whole fight
I have received a small amount of mistlands related trauma while searching for my next mine
it's impressive when a biome makes me happy to be back in the plains
holy fuck I hate dvergr
Just finished the Fader fight, no spoilers, that sucked
I really feel like a fun post-fader activity for me will be raiding dvergr encampments with all the siege equipment
Is it normal that the game gets kinda laggy on infested mines..?
Mm
why you hate dverger bros? that's crazy
they find the most irritating ways to kill me
figured the mages wouldn't be able to attack in the water, you know, like every other non-aquatic enemy but nope, bastards just started casting spells in the middle of the ocean
lol. we have radically different experiences. they've only ever attacked me twice..... ahh, you attack them first. got it.
yeah, not a huge fan of just cheesing the whole encounter with a cart or bringing a gjall in
if you ever watched them fight, you would have seen them fighting seekers and gjall from the water.
but regardless, dvergers are bros. i used cart trick once, and refined eitr after that.
Or accidentally hit something of theirs
yeah, i've been careful. actually, today post-Fader may have been the first time they've ever attacked me. might have been because of chain lightning
Ive got an unnamed stone portal that is connected to something but keeps dropping me infront of my main hub portal back at my base (which is wooden) and wont teleport me back
Loki did some shenaniganery to my fekken portal network
Ye, I know I've had some run ins with em cuz of splash damage. One time I swear I triggered em by chopping a tree that was near a fortress
Can anyone explain how to use fenris armor better? I don’t really understand all of it. I’ve seen lots use it up till mistlands & I’d really like to know how they can manage everything with it. Can you parry or block aswell? Or stay more ranged? I’ve tested out the armor and I love it, just some parts I don’t understand..
It's more about dodge rolls and speed
Makes sense
Late bronze age atm repreparing for swamp. I have a bronze mace and sword at lvl3, so does anyone have info which enemies ill find at this point are weaker to each? I just wanna use it most efficiently. Id assume skeletons are weak to blunt.
Imo sword & mace is both good in the swamps, but the mace would work significantly better against blobs since they’re weak to blunt, boss & enemies are neutral to it.
Skeletons and blobs are weak to blunt, abominations are nuetral to slash (and resist blunt and pierce), and the draugr are neutral to both so use whatever you have higher skill in
Yeah both deal the same damage in their respective "element". Abominations to slash? How can i get closer to one? Ive never done so, havent seen any attacks.
I dont wanna die, again
Also yesterday i got kill streaked by draugr when i couldnt parry their attacks with my (then) lvl1 bronze buckler. I have it upgraded it now and i do not wanna go there and die again so, will a lvl3 buckler and my processed foods (60-100hp) be enough to parry draugr?
I just want a second opinion on that, dying is not preferable
A lvl 3 bronze buckler should be able to parry draugr with almost any amount of max health
Ok nice. Whaty the most i can parry with it? How cocky can i get before i die lol
I dont really get the upgrade numbers, it says on the upgrade preview something like 28(1), but appereantly the difference is far more than 1
Okay, valheims upgrade doesnt display upgrade differences, does it.
wat?
the upgraded version of the thing is the one displayed, whatever you have equipped you can hover over to see the difference
Well thats inconvenient
About 100 damage with 90HP
I mean like in god of war upgrading will show a green highlight over your stats so Vitality 314 (in green: +7)
Why flametal helmet have 900 durability on 2lvl
But ask hood is 1200?
Wtf
Blocking sheet is pinned in this channel...
Oh sorry i dont know the games damage numbers, i only go with a little, fair, and holy fucking shit that is way too much damage to be balanced
It is written in a way that you do not have to know the game's damage numbers.
You type in your skill, your set difficulty, and your shield.
It autofills out the blocking thresholds.
Ill always find a way to be confused, make sure of that. But yeah ill go check it out
Which difficulty is default
Normal
Good name. I like it.
There is a key for acceptable things to type in right there.
Didnt know, on mobile atm. Skàl!
Whats the deal with Graustine Roofing?
why are there only interior corners, and why is it that the curves corners make no sense and cant smoothly connect to anything?
why is it that despite the arched borders being designed specifically for the curved roofing they cant snap to a place if another arch is snapped there? and why is there no borders for the straight roofing?
I love the ratatouille potions
because its viking age and they dont have perfect arcitecture
and its not gonna be pretty
🤨
Its a material that your character didnt see anywhere until now 😄 so he can only build the pieces that are present in other buildings at ashlands (made that reason up ofc but it makes at least a bit of sense imo 🙂 )
I like Storming Splitnir against them. Bit higher hitbox help to hit them better than other weapons. And you can throw it at it too. Storm Ripper and Storming Splitnir are good combo IMO.
Which ash fang is better?
I quite like the thundering one, but i like everything in its thunder variant soooo...
I was thinking about thunder tho
Bit of lightning dmg is good, but 20% for chain light is low kinda
i have never heard of people liking the thundering bow
Oh, root have also 20%
people like the trapped root effect from a distance for obvious reasons, and some people like the blood sniper builds
For blood sniping you should be at low health, which i don't want
but its sniping
Yea, you still can ocasionally die from some random sneaky fuck
Why tho?
You, personally, don't like thunder one?
no i like either it or the normal ash fang the best....i just mean actual viability.
Wait, normal fang receives spirit when upgraded
Yep, 5 per upgrade lvl
durability doesnt really matter a whole lot in this game tbf
Yeah, you go home so often that you dont really get anything broken if you dont forget to repair 🙂
yeah exactly haha
man the drakkar is so sucky
big™️
i am bottoming out on shit like 50m away from a shoreline man
ashlands has just killed all the love i had for this game ... just tedious and frustrating ... not enjoyable ... after such a long time waiting for a biome update and this is what they delivered ... feels like dev just lost their passion for this game ... rant over and so unfortunately is the game for me
Hey, anyone wants to play?
Combat is my favourite part of the game, and in ashlands it never stops
they left too...so unnecessary, hope they have fun playing solitaire on their free time then..
no actual critiques lol...just "i don't like the game, i'm bad at it too, devs bad, bye."
only message too, so he just joined the server to be negative.
Let it go 🙂 not the first one, not the last one
i dislike stupid poopoo heads 😾
Viking Zoo Tycoon
noooooo
Maybe cats will finally be in there 😭
one of the other 9 worlds must have cats
Well... we do 😄 but i would love if Valheim would have them too
What do I do again with Pike and Perch
Keep them untill you can make a food prep station
Bring them to a food preparation table to turn them into raw fish meat, or make a pond and keep them as pets
oh so that got moved from the Cauldron as well?
yeah and the table requires iron to build
Yep, basically all raw food is now in prep station
pretty cool ngl i dig the prepping table
so by the time you can make cooked fish, you wouldn't eat it because you have sausages black soup and deer stew
I use fish mostly around the house or while sailing
It has the lowes stats of all the swamp food, and even lots of bf food
there's quite a long draught between catching your first fish late into BF / early swamp gameplay and actually using it when you can finally make Fish Tacos
should definitely add some swamp / mountain level fish recipes imo
meadows ruined the game for me guys, devs lost their passion
it's a supplement food item I use in combo with honey comb and deer meat... quite honestly it's not the best busy its really easily farmed
"Meadows" ?
yeahh
I use that cooked and prep food for actual exploring
Why are you starting about that again... leave it be they are gone
😛
Lowest effort food is Onion, Onion Soup and Honey
imo lowest effort is the stuff that just accumulates as you explore, so no crops for me~
honey, boar jerky, sausage (cooked deer meat in that place early on), wolf jerky, cloudberries
yeah boar jerky is also very easy since you eventually have no more use for boar meat, but you will run into enough of them
can you eat cloudberries now?
wonder how cloudberries taste
you can stack 50 honey comb 20 cooked fish and 20 deer meat.... and unless your Wrecked in the meadows easily i think it works out
always could
same, they're a real thing, but the ones in valheim look pretty different, wouldn't be surprised if they taste different too
If you live far enough north there is a chance you have them growing somewhere 😄
I'm pretty sure earliest release a few years ago Cloudberries were not edible
well they were always on my diet
nothing about cloudberries in the wiki's version history either
ahhhhh so they are real, Rubus chamaemorus
hi winter
thats cool,.... looks appetizing aswell
I have heard great things about cloudberries
from someone who was in norway for quite some time
This has to be the best game i have ever played in my entire life
From art, story, gameplay to building and such
Perfect fusion of everything
I want to buy it for my friend but its a lot over my budget, will it be on sale for around $7-8?
Many of valheim's recent sales have been 50% off
Thats $10 right?
Idk, not my currency
I use euros
do you maybe know when new sale will be up?
or the way i can find the key and buy it
its actually his birthday in 2 days so i think this game is the perfect gift
i have to throw him in the troll cave
Just make sure he knows that rolling can avoid damage first
I didn't know until halfway through the game, trolls were terrifying before then
i gotta get him the game first hahah but yeah i wont tell him, he has to get slapped first
I've never really played with rolling, this isn't dark souls lol
dark souls is one of the game's known inspirations, and the roll is pretty damn powerful 😅
For any attack short enough to be jumped over, jumping is always better
I, er, I accidentally left the door to my pen open.
"Mrs Tweedy! The chickens are revolting!"
I then wished they'd get inspired by Dark Souls lockon feature
Why do the last 3 bosses have resistance to pierce?
to nerf bows
Why nerf bows?
because they're a very powerful and kinda safe ranged weapon
High skill bows is insane
Yagluth is a skeleton
Fader is partially a skeleton
For the queen it's just balancing
It seems to me the Devs just don't want certain things way too much
Also the queen it isn't just balancing I think, the seekers in general resist all physical damage types anyway
Queen is just maintaining consistency
But the queen only resists pierce, not all of them
Did not realise that lol, that is quite strange
They don't want you to have fall dmg immunity outside of mistlands so they nerfed the cloak as much as possible. They don't want you to use bows so they slap pierce resistance on every boss except the first 2 and moder
You can still use bows lol
and bows are so ridiculous that with the right arrows, they can ignore this resistance
Yeah but it's clear that they don't want you to be using em against bosses
For yagluth you can use silver arrows, for the queen you can use frost arrows
they scale more with skill than any other weapon in the game due to the draw time reduction amplifying both the usual stamina cost reduction and damage increase
The jump boost has been moved to a cheap mead with jump stamina reduction that stacks with the cape, and fire weakness is worth it for the feather falling
because it's cheap
If you're like skill 80 plus bow even through resist bows are gonna be way better than any other weapon for fighting
Their dps is really good
Ngl I'm not a bow user
I'm an axe user. I play with my brother who uses altgeir though and my cousin that is a bow user
I only use bows when I have to (drakes and gjalls
) and occasionally for fuling shamans
Same, and for people who aren't using primarily ranged builds, mistlands gives you crossbows, which are perfect
spears, atgeirs, crossbows and kinda knives are very unfortunate casualties of this balancing method, i'll give you that
If the next boss isn't blunt resistant, all bosses will be neutral or weak to blunt
Crossbows are fine, I don't think they're supposed to be a primary weapon type anyway
Something like knives and spears it does kinda suck though
and they sure are balanced that way, getting average benefits from levels
and levelling arbitrarily slowly for some reason
Crossbows let you prime for a fight with a burst of damage that uses no stamina. That burst gives them frontloaded power even at 0 skill
This "balancing" method shouldn't be there to begin with
i use exclusively crossbows for ranged, i know their strengths and weaknesses.
I wasn't trying to claim you didn't.
I only bring it up because it's kinda fair that if they have that front loaded power that they don't scale the way bows do.
Not sure why so defensive
personally i think bows themselves should just be massively nerfed - take away the damage increase with levels entirely.
your dps already goes up due to the draw time reduction
i'm saying that doesn't work so well for bosses, the window to get backstab damage on them is extremely tight
Nah don't nerf em either
Just remove the piercing resistance from bosses that shouldn't have em. Like the queen. Problem solved
Guys, how can I find a place to build a house in the mountains?
and let bows be the safest and strongest option in the game by a mile?
Just a throwback to the "since when are cloudberries edible in-game" discussion, on wiki they got the "type=food" at February 17th 2021 😉
It doesn't, no - but that's fine again, they're supplementary weapons, better suited to the overworld
that i agree with
Buff everything else
imo the melee expierence is fine as is, ranged is just too easy
or rather, bows ranged
I'm.sorry are you a member of the final fantasy xiv balancing team?
That's been that games design philosophy since inception and look at the sorry state that game is in now. It's so much easier to nerf 1 thing than buff everything else.
Whatya mean easier ?
You just tweak a few dmg numbers and boom. You buff every other weapon. Problem solved
you gotta make sure it feels right and is fair in practice.
-# granted, the current melee balance is not very...balanced.
Double the damage of every other weapon than bows. Boom balanced
especially if enemy health is raised to account for this new damage. and if you don't want that, why not just play on easy
But then the relative difficulty of the whole game goes down.
Nerf bows, get rid of the pierce resistance on bosses, then see how the game plays. Retweak again later as needed
Why raise that?
Leave it as it is
because the balance on anything but bows is good enough as it is. enemies die at the pace they're intended to
if you raise all melee damage to x2, most common enemies are gonna be oneshot with biome-appropriate gear
Seems balanced
I don't think enemies should be being 1 shot with biome appropriate gear
That seems kinda silly
Nothing felt more balanced than going to the mountain and oneshotting with crystal battleaxe
it's very easy to time a hit to hit them before they even have a chance to hit you, giving them a window to hit you after you've hit them is almost the only way to make them a threat
Guys, how can I find a place to build a house in the mountains?
As the game is, I'm already 3 shotting 0 star seekers with a fully upgraded blackmetal sword, and that's the prior biome, and seekers resisting slash damage
I have a single player world on Xbox is it possible to upload that world to make it into a server? I'm on day 130 something and the only thing I've done is build, (I'll share screenshots if anyone wants to see)
but going with the likelihood of this just being bait, i'll just be off to make breakfast~
I don't think we're playing the same game if you think doubling the damage of all weapons will be balanced
Why give them time a window to hit you? No need to make the recoveries larger
Ehhhh. 3 shots are too much
🥧
2 is already too much
Polearms are the best weapons. The spin attack is good for fighting off a swarm if surrounded, and you can punt small grey dwarfs like golf balls 😂
Yeah I'm going with this is bait lol
They suck vs bosses
Have fun shouting at an empty room
🎣
Also yeah, this. Atgeirs suck v bosses but overworld that secondary attack is insane
My brother is altgeir enjoyer
The all father himself wields a spear. I follow in his footsteps
One handed swords for much of my current playthrough here
Is Jotunns bane a good axe? I unlocked the knowledge for it and wondering if it's worth crafting
atgeirs are my favourite weapon type, but clubs keep drawing me back in for just how good they are ´v`"
It's good in mistlands but poison is terrible in ashlands
Bet
Cult of the Blackmetal Atgeir
Swamp warping the entire game around clubs, and then frostner becoming part of the game atbthe mountain biome... yeah, that is definitely a balance concern lol
Personally i go with the battle axe until i get the dual axes
And should you need piercing damage you even have porcupine
it's generally not a great damage type mechanically since each subsequent hit completely cancels the remaining ticks of the last hit, and you'd expect jotun bane to make up for this weakness by having a really high poison amount, but no it has exactly average numbered stats for its weapon class in mistlands. it is imo a very sad weapon.
sure, it can kill things, but imo not as good as it should.
They grow in swampy areas in my country at least.
-# The only thing worse than Poison is the knockback on Frostner.
The best way to judge weapons is by how good they are at launching greylings
first thing i do when i get a new one
The seekers have slash resistance and it's two biomes behind so not great. Use the black metal axe, it's faster with more damage and you need to make one anyway to progress.
and nothing in the biome takes spirit damage
hey, so is there any option for me to get the key for less than $10
It has many disadvantages in Mistlands - 20% slower movement speed, slow 1st hit and many enemies are resistant against Slash.
The wide attacks are probably useful in infested mines but that's the only advantage I can think of
Althought it has okay knockback that can help against groups, but still it is quite slow against Seekers.
What's a good early-ish weapon to go for? Stagbreaker and Jotun bane aren't very my choice of wrapons
i wouldn't call jotun bane early either
stagbreaker
The resistance is not just to slash but against physical in general lol
Abyssal razor
You can obtain it early and it has the stats of a swamp-tier knife
I know. I mentioned Slash because that's the damage type for Battleaxes.
Well most weapons don't rly do elemental anyway
How do you get it? I've never heard of it
Find leviathans
true, pre-mistlands that's only frostner and...bows
-# well, also bombs and torches but those probably won't work so well as primary weapons by that point
OHHHH that razor. Nvm I know what that is now
Frostner is disputed as one of the best weapons when entering Mistlands because of its Frost damage.
How do you get frostner?
The problem with frostner is that its stagger is incredibly low for a mace
I'm not a mace user
The Frost effect covers the lack of stagger.
I have like lvl 4 clubs
Would anyone like to see my base so far? I've done nothing for 130 in game days building it
it sort of compensates for that with knockback, if your use for stagger is a safe attack window.
creating distance gives you another chance for an easy first hit, or to focus on one enemy in a group.
but yea, if your intention with stagger is to use the x2 damage boost for a quick kill, that is a huge downside on frostner
The mace secondary attack is usually one of the highest stagger attacks of its tier but frostner only has 37% of the porcupine's stagger
Either way I'll use crystal battleaxe until i get the dual axes
And fenris armor. Hopefully I won't suffer too much
is frostner 1 or 2 hand? cant remember
1 hand
1
then you can use a shield or buckler right?
yes
Crystal Battleaxe is better in Ashlands than in Mistlands.
I know but in Ashlands I'll get my hands on dual wields
i primarily parry for staggering the enemy anyway so shouldnt that make up for the low stagger value on frostner?
Yes, if you're parrying everything weapon stagger won't do much, but you can't stunlock an enemy as easily
Yeah, but you can use it as your starting weapon with better success in Ashlands (than in Mistlands) until you get the dual Axes.
Ofc I'm gonna use it
I'll go throughout mistlands and plains with it too
Yeah ppl are immune to spirit but who cares? It's just a bonus for me
unfortunately the axe wasn't quite balanced that way. if it's just a bonus as it is for the silver sword, it should have slightly higher slash damage going by percentage increases.
especially considering it has a lot less spirit than the silver sword
but if it works for you, great
-# just saying if that's your main weapon in mistlands, i can kinda see why doubling all melee damage sounds fair to you
honestly except for bonemass i never bothered using anything but swords and shields. very versatile
Hey, if I was to start a long term world, would there be any issues caused by the 1.0 update, like world generation?
as long as you don't go up to deep north, there should be no issues
and even then, only the parts you came near should remain incomplete after 1.0
Alright, good to know ty
I hate bonemass btw
The boss basically forces you to use maces
its a fun fight if youre not using a slash weapon
Pierce too
or pierce yes
It's basically "use maces. The end"
I mean it has the same stats as jotun bane. And jotun bane is faster. But crystal battle axe due to being 2h has better modifiers on it's attacks
i know a guy who went full ballistic and used like 200 frost arrows on bonemass from an elevated position so i guess that works too xD
My cousin did that too
both types have x1, x1, x2 on their combo but battleaxes are slower.
the only difference in per-hit damage is that 2-handed weapons generally don't have multi-target penalty (a 33% damage reduction for every additional target hit in one swing, including rocks, trees and terrain)
gn chat place thing 🧡
Oh. Btw do you need jotun bane for ashlands cutting or nah?
seems no, black metal axe will do
I see....
which isn't surprising, since ash wood isn't very important to progression and can be broken by many enemies there
I rly don't wanna return to 1h and shield moveset but... I guess I'll have to
oh wow, apparently the tool tier of scorched trees is the lowest, so any axe should do
i guess that makes sense, its basically burnt anyway
I guess I'll suffer for mistlands
Ngl so far from the 5 OG biomes
Swamp was my worst
Have you used axes for whole playthrough?
Yes
For challenge or because you like them the best?
Which is not wrong if you like play that way
I take it back, Yggdrassl porridge isn't useless.
Bought the mistlands herb and when I couldn't make the feast just tried cooking various things till it appeared.
Wow the mistlands feast is kinda really good lol
And the porridge being required for it means it isn't useless
Well, it was not useless by itself since it grants a bit more Eitr than Stuffed Mushroom, but it surely is costly (requiring Sap and Barley). And some liked using 3 Eitr foods.
But I agree, it is good that it is required on the Mistlands Feast.
For the 5 eitr gain over stuffed mushroom while being vastly more expensive to make?
I consider the Yggdrassl porridge basically useless if not for the feast lol
I liked the crystal battle axe the best. Then i saw how awesome mistwalker looked like so my 2nd playthrough was swords. Then the third playthrough the dual axes came. And i love dual wielding more than anything do back to axes
Sure it's technical bis for an eitr build in mistlands but it's just not worth it in any sense
Like I said, it surely is more costly in resources than the Stuffed mushroom.
Until you get proper Sap farms.
More costly than both stuffed mushroom AND seeker aspic.
Being more costly than seeker aspic while being worse is the bigger crime here
Ngl axes are worse than swords up to mountain
gotta give it up for maces having funny ragdolls though. surely that means they're the best 😏
yepp, that's partially deliberate, but possibly also just clumsy balancing.
they also serve as a tool, so they're intentionally a lil bit weaker.
but in hearth & home, they were set apart from swords by having their attack speed reduced and per-hit damage increased. it's just that that increase was small enough to still result in a loss of dps, and the per-hit damage is pretty small so breaking points didn't change much either.
Maces are good I'm not gonna lie
and jotun bane vs mistwalker is a joke
Well crystal battleaxe and the dual axes are great tho
The two types of axe that go toe to toe with swords
berserkr axes? absolutely
battleaxe? for its biome, yea
One handed axe has a basically non existent secondary attack, only useful for removing tree stumps basically
First time landing at a swamp there was an abomination on the shore and didn't wake up until after I got off my ship😭
Battleaxe is also good in the plains. Yes it doesn't have the spirit there outside of yagluth. But it does heavy damage on it's own
How do you get duel axes?
Ashlands
good? yea. as good as other options? debatable.

i'm a firm believer in that "can it kill things? yes" is not a good measure of a weapon being appropriately balanced
...but in plains it's really not too bad, that was an overreaction on my part
Honestly plains is the time the weapons are most balanced as far as I can tell
hmmmm yea, can't think of a better example
And Plains is the best place to return for testing new weapons from later biomes
Only thing I can think is that knives aren't particularly great vs crowds (villages) and sneak attacking lox with them isn't effective due to pierce resistance
-# you mean slash resistance
So they're a tad worse than other weapons at the same stage
Isn't knife secondary attack pierce?
all knife attacks are 50% pierce 50% slash damage
and lox are neutral to pierce, resistant to slash and blunt
They're neutral to pierce?
Has that always been the case?
yepp, that's why porcupine is kinda perfect where it is
Knife being 50 50 slash and pierce seems kinda trippy
they're the only weapon type with a split on their basic physical damage, yea
I'd always assumed some attacks were slash and some were pierce, based on the animation
yeaaa sadly that's not the case
the sword secondary deals slash, the battleaxe secondary also deals slash, the atgeir secondary deals pierce, etc.
That's why spears and atgeirs are better than other melee weapons against Lox
Finding the biggest chunk of metal to use as a weapon is always the best and more "balanced" option for the simple job of killing things 😂😂
Sword I knew it was all slash, for knife I made the assumption simply because both numbers were there
which is fair, i thought the same thing when i first played
Can I use a single player world and upload it to a dedicated server on Xbox?
Regardless my original point still stands, I thunk knives struggle more than other weapons In plains, though they still have the advantage of being cheap.
it does stand yea
But I learned something new today haha
I've seen some assuming atgeir secondary attack dealing slash and sword secondary dealing pierce.
fists too since they're even worse at sideways reach and only have slash by that point
For sword I didn't assume it because only slash damagebis listed on the weapon, and I assumed porcupine did both damage types on everything based on the model
Yeah but because the secondary attack looking like it pierces through so some has assumed.
I can understand that.
considering how much damage the special attack does to the seekers i do doubt it, but i can see where the believers are coming from, it literally is a stab
Seekers are resistant to all physical damage types though, aside from soldiers butt and queen
Queen is only resistant against Pierce of physical damage types.
weapons would be very balanced again in mistlands due to that, if elemental damage wasn't so...interestingly spread out
Poison mechanics make the axe an unfortunate casualty
and krom and skoll & hati just don't get any elemental.
they don't suck, especially not skoll & hati, but can we please remove multi-target penalty from krom like every other 2h weapon ;v;
skoll and hati is the best weapong for farmin mistland hares
Wait why on earth does krom have that?
Flame staff says hi, I think that's better for hares
well, best physical weapon
my theory is that it was an accident.
because one-handed swords lost multi-target penalty in the mistlands update.
i'm pretty sure they created 2h swords by copying sword assets, then later went back to remove MTP from them but did so to the wrong animations
so now both types of swords stand out for being weird about multi-target penalty
1h for being the only 1h weapon without it, and 2h for being the only 2h weapon with it
:notlikethis:
Hopefully it gets fix soon™
2h swords with cleave would be so good
2h swords lose a lot of their value because the attack chain often hits rocks, trees etc
OK, that was funny
I was out fishing, and had just caught myself a tier 3 trollfish
Not even a moment after I had reeled in my prize, a second troll fish lept out of the water and snapped at my bait 🤣
2 lovely fishies for 1 bait ❤️
Not bad for a day on the lake 🤭
it was his dream to be a professional lunch it seems
Well, he is getting turned into a sailor's bounty, so that is pretty good standards
What do you know?
He was such a good fish I got 2 cooked fishies out of him
Hey just came back after some time, did the suggestion channel get nuked? Is it gonna be cleared every new years?
How long is some time?
Like a year or two
The entire server got wiped a while ago due to a hack
Yep, in late january
The hacks should have checked who they were messing with 🤣
Odin's chosen don't die so easily
Welcome back by the way
We didn't have any1 come up saying they backed up the messages did we?
Sadly no
couldnt find the game for $8, not sure what to do
any suggestions where to get it for that amount?
i want to gift it to my buddy
Steam has great specials - not sure if it would be exactly $8
For me it was like 80 of my currency - would probably be MUCH cheaper in dollars
we are sitting on like 18-16 to the dollar
Is someone pulling the beard of odin today???
First cultist in my new world and he gave me a trophy!!!
Fess up!
Which one of you is tugging on the old man's tash?
It was quite sad it happened, I left the server just in case so my profile shows that I joined this February even thought I was there much earlier than that.
I'm just starting the game, can I play online or do they all require a key/code unless I play solo?
I got lucky - nobody tagged my profile so I got to stay
Pretty sure you’ve been here waaay longer than me though ❤️
You can play online - all multiplayer games are hosted by individual people who just set their worlds to allow other people to join in, so check #1024264966712340510 for someone who wants to play with you
oh i remember that. the server looked weird for a while until they regained control
I’m still waiting for a confession by the way 🤣🤭
I at least participated in Mistlands PTB but not sure if I was in the server then - probably I was.
Probably - how would you give the dev’s that sweat feedback if you aren’t in this discord? 😂🥰
does anyone wanna start a new world
True, now I remember I was pretty vocal about nerfing Gjalls and Seekers back then
Gjalls are at good state now but still I hope the Seeker AI get unnerfed.
Machine gun gjalls were apparently quite toxic 😂
Seekers having wolf mechanics sounds quite difficult but makes sense since they seek you
I liked when they were more difficult to deal with. Now they attack and circle around like fools. And now there are World Modifiers to make enemies easier.
what other wood can i use to make wood walls?
regular wood is boring and others are only pillars
You can use the core wood next to one another or on top of another to create walls like a log cabin.
But for regular walls we don't have other wood as the "normal" wood.
there's ash wood
im in the swamp biome btw*
good idea, thank you
on the topic, any idea of what i should build?
got the stonecutter, core wood etc
Just starting new world check on https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1305210792949579827
I got plenty of ideas, but it's more important what you like.
A large house with at least two floors would be good, as you will need to craft multiple items to increase your rested bonus. Having a "living room / kitchen" area at the ground floor and a bed above that area helps. Put the bed next to the chimney so the smoke won't choke you.
There are multiple crafting options for the kitchen area, so you will need a lot of space. Think of a large fire, the cauldron and all its upgrades, mead kettle, food preparation table, at least one fermentor and an oven all needing its space.
If you don't know how large things are, activate dev-commands, hit B to get all the items under the hammer - just don't place them - and look how much room is needed. Use a common wood beam or a log beam for reference.
For the next floor, make sure you got enough room for multiple beds, at least one armor rack, rugs and banners. But most important, make sure the beds are close to the fire and benefit of the items you have at the ground floor in your "living room"; as each item has a bubble in which it increases the rested bonus.
However, different versions of the same item - i.e. a stool and a chair - won't stack its influence. Only the highest one counts.
As for crafting areas; keep in mind you will need lots of space. Each workbench got its upgrades and you will eventually end up with 5 different types and its upgrades. One idea is to put them along the walls with a row of storage chests in the center for easy access.
You may scroll through here: https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202264206628630548 to look at some ideas.
But in general, build the way you like it. No-one's going to judge you if it's fugly. As long as you're pleased with it and it's working, it should be ok.
alright, first time fighting the queen wish me luck
Do you have a feather cape?
If you don't, BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING ELSE, get one
Agreed feather cape is amazing
Uhm...
It is essential unless you want a quick death against the queen
If you don't have one, be careful 🙈
I have it, did not realize I'd need my wisplight in there though lmao
ran out immediately gonna go grab that
poor haldor belt
I've got all the schmovement meads so I can do good dodgy stuff, should probably snag bonemass power too
ehhh i forgot to mention i live in a fat village with a few friends 😂 we each have different roles and ive got the logging role
i did get a layout though
its like a H - the left line is 2x7, the middle connecting is 2x5, and the other line is again 2x7
gonna add a roof and use that as extra storage space
Shouldn't you rename yourself to Woody Woodpecker then? 🤔
perhaps
ehhh idk if i like this design
yeah nah screw this shit
its going down
Today I found out trolls can swim. Whelp.
they can?
I sniped at a troll from my boat, thinking they were scared of water, and bro just turned around and walked/swam right through the ocean out to my boat and fucked me up
They aren't so much swimming as that they are tall enough to walk to you 🤣
most mobs arent really bothered by water, they just walk on over and slap you, physics be damned
For skeletons, draugr, or any kind of undead check #memes-and-clips 🤣
NO DEATHS RAAAH LONG LIVE THE QUEEN
took ~25 minutes, rested buff ran out a few seconds before I killed her lol
that was by far my favorite boss fight in this entire game so far
I don't think I'll ever need to go farming royal jelly again...
you will
yea, major health meads need it
Well done!
and you will always need those
idk how to tell you this but I probably have almost 1000 jelly from the sealbreaker hunting and boss combined
if you plan to play for a long time, you will eventually run out
I.... did not know that
I like this
I seem to have overestimated my jelly count I have around 500
either way enough to fill up way too much of my food ingredients chest, I'm gonna be jelly farming free for a good while
Also, you won't need so much jelly once you get to the ashlands
It has an alternative health mead - but you'll need to decide which works better for you
i had probably 2000 soft tissue ( my mega base is all black marble, so just naturally got a lot of soft tissue)
im down to like 100 left
Oh jeez, you rich
When you've been playing long enough, you just have too much stuff 🤣
yea im 700 days in, i just have lots of stuff around everywhere
I'm around 400 days in I think
I'm sure my maiden voyage to the ashlands won't be that scary
I was exactly 366 days before bog witch broke the game for me
sailing there isn't there isn't the issue
Getting a safe place to land is
yea expect to fight for your territory
Took me an hour to clear out a space to settle when I started
can't wait for vietheim part 2
So I learned from that and now I just plop down a portal on one of the ocean spikes
at all costs, do not die before you get a portal down
ashlands was made to sail to 1 time, not back and forth like the other biomes
Yeah, that's why I started building based on the ocean spikes 😆
I'm uh, gonna start prepping that shield core then huh
bring mats for a stonecutter as well
Good plan
I don't like the sound of that
You get alot of stone stuff on the other side - makes for decent stone base
I mean, I bring stonecutters with me for pretty much every base I make since I love stone, but I've never had someone specifically instruct me to bring one
there is a special item that you unlock that you need a stonecutter for
grausten I presume?
Nah - something better
You'll enjoy it - I promise ❤️
holy shit I'm gonna need a bigger port, I'm glad I didn't start building it until after I killed the queen
it would not have fit the drakkar at all, thing takes up almost my entire forge from just the preview
it is quite the ship
You can literally take a lox or two to the ashlands if you want that thing is so big
cupcake jr. and gorlock might be going on a road trip
kidding, they're gonna stay home and safe in their little pen I made, I don't want my lox getting incinerated
Remember what Dale said about it being a one way trip - stock that bad boy with all the goodies you need
It's literally got enough cargo space to be a second inventory
do I even wanna ask why it's a one way trip
anything youthink you might need
Navigation - the ocean spikes are hel
You don't want to sail there twice if you can help it
Big ship - not alot of room to sail it
The music is the best 🤩
Oh christ - was just sailing home at night time, pitch black, very foggy so couldn't see anything 1ft away from the boat - was relying entirely on the mini map to get me home.
Suddenly, lit only by the moonlight, a HUGE serpent mouth appears in front of the boat 😂 I screamed!!
I got a small taste of the ashlands environment on a friend's world, I was impressed that they managed to make a biome more depressing than the swamp
I had this happen when I was out fishing in a karve
Was not impressed and made some fish-sticks 🤣
at night, during an ash storm, you actually cant see at all. you are blindly exploring the desolate wateland
And the mainland music is a MOOD
I'm a karve too!!
What I usually do when building the Drakar is sail as far down south with a longboat as I can, then build a small outpost / harbor at an island.
Put a portal and a workbench there, teleport all items I'm going to need to build the drakar over, create that air craft carrier and sail the last part into Ashlands.
Save me about 75% of the travel time. 😄
Smart!
I was scared by the fact mistlands made the plains feel relaxing, now I'm even more scared for how relaxing the mistlands will be compared to the ashlands
Just imagine how relaxing the Ashlands will be compared to the Deep North.......
don't say that
The devs did say they want it to be more... Chill than ashlands
Kinda like: "Let's run down without weapons and armor in plains" kinda relaxing. 😄
i thought the mistlands was fairly relaxing, its not very filled with enemies. only things that were a problem were gjalls
Mistlands still my favourite biome
mistlands was relaxing like 50% of the time, the other 50% of the time it was actually just a horror game
asthetically mistlands is my fav
my first encounter with a gjall was just vibing with some dvergr in their encampment, then I see a few tentacles dangle through the mist as I hear an air raid siren before my dvergr friend got incinerated
the night sky in the ashlands is uncomparable
same with the thunder storms
sometimes i just stand outside my base and watch the sky
i think i only died like 5 times in the mistlands, wich is the lowest of any biome for me
My favourite place to build is in the ashlands ocean
The music, the sky, the blood red boiling ocean
So beautiful - I've built several monolyths out of black marble in creative there - it's just so good
This is honestly due to the mist
People always complain that they hate the mistlands mist, but honestly it's making your life easier when fighting mobs
Can't handle the heat?
Just run away - the mobs will lose you in the mists 9 times out of 10
i fought everything i encountered, its just way less populated than the other biomes imo
except dvergrs, i let them chill. not an enemy of mine
i took like 5 of their extractors, then left them alone
alright, current plan for the ashlands is just to get in, set up a small outpost with the portal asap, and then get out to grab materials for a proper outpost later
Good luck!
you forgot the, fight for my right to build an outpost
I'm willfully omitting that part of the plan for now
getting into the ashlands without fighting is near impossible
thankfully the ashlands isn't a super far distance from my current main base
my plains island ended up being in a very southern part of the world
Not if you build in on an ocean pillar - nobody is contesting that except for 2 mobs that you can handle pretty easy
who knows, maybe a bonemaw has claimed that pillar
I thought I saw a glimpse of land already, nope it's just a random chunk of black forest in the middle of odin's asscrack nowhere
@long locust gl with your adventure! i hope you make it
I swear the black forest never fails to disappoint whenever I'm sailing
I like snacks on my roadtrips ❤️
oh, I see the spikes
almost threw myself into the boiling ocean to grab a shroom I saw
Don't do that 😆
There are plenty more of those in the actual biome - also, DON'T poke the shiny rocks
as a hoarder myself, you will have plenty of stuff to grab on the main island, dont worry about the random stuff on the spikes
this is not a fun road trip
1 way trip (:
At least you have some sweet music to listen too 🥳
I got a bonemaw trophy yipee
I landed on a dvergr encampment LMAO
thats the best way unfortunately
That's the reason I build in the plain, more than halfway on the map. Constant black metal delivery
If you are far away, just take that boat from camp to camp and just go back once you have a good amount
i constantly have blackmetal scattered everywhere due to fuelings spawning in any biome at night
i had a stack of blackmetal at the top of a mountain
or you can mess with the world modifiers, and let metals be telaportable
yea im not a fan either, making boat trips does suck sometimes
but id rather suck it up than let them be teleportable
cheating having fun
Ctrl+F3
ty
might be time to go do more black marble farming, actually finish my base (its been incomplete for months, its in a livable state but still lots to do)
An issue i see with this game
You can't train your magic until the mistlands.. so your magic will always be on low level
You can't play with magic for like 5/7 of the game
Not always 🙂 you will level it up eventualy, also levels are really not that important
They seem ultra important. You have low lvl = no dmg with the best dmg
100 lvl = 100000 dmg with the club
That is not even remotly true...
skill levels aren't that important
bows +141% damage and knockback, -33% stamina usage, -80% draw time and clubs +141% damage and knockback, -33% stamina usage
bow draw time is a big exception
I agree that bow skill is somewhat more important if you use bows, but even with low level you can still function well
i think only blood magic is op with 700 shield at lvl 100
Ngl if it was up to me
also all skills are "easy" to levle up, but take a lot of time investment
I would buff the dmg of bows by 600% and remove the "draw time" bonus
On the skills
Sure, because we don't have something like this, totaly don't call it a crossbow...
Also, just how much more op bows you want?
I'm not a bow user but they are kinda underwhelming RN
Are you using crude bow?
Maybe the witch could sell something like "endless quiver of arrows" which allows you to have infinite arrows.
I'm not using one at all
Then why are you complaining about them?
I find my non existing bugatti very underwhelming too
I have friends who play them
Yeah, i am so sad i can't fly the helicopter i don't have, devs fix pls...
Guess who just got the game :D.
Welcome in 😄
welcome, i hope you havent planned anything for the next 500000 hours of your life
can i somehow decrease the radius of the ward?
and nothing has been able to kill me. BUT I DIED to a tree
It's a right of passage
nope
I was chopping a tree and it fell on me
time honored tradition of the self-inflicted bonk
I guess its cool that my first ever death was by a tree
Most of ours were too 😄
I am not ashamed to say my first death was to a boar, lol
My first death to a tree came much later honestly lol
my first death ever was by a greyling 😄 did not know about eating and had not found the food by the stones and that greyling would not let up 😄
And that's precisely why my first death was to a boar too, didn't know about eating, had fought a bunch of enemies without dying but got hit enough times without ever regenerating hp
My first death was to my first tree
The bloody wind engine is sentient and it hates me
Every damn time i set sail the wind turns to a headwind in the direction i need to sail
50/50 chance its going to be too stormy to see anything
I like that we can finally make barrels. Hoping for the boxes ala cart cargo eventually.
I was surprised we could transport the barrel rings through a portal, knowing some of Hildir's metal items can't.
i enabled teleport all items 🥴
I think it makes sense considering it's not really for anything that important or like a gameplay milestone
Nor is that iron fire pit Hildir sells....
There is actually a gameplay milestone where eventually all items become teleportable
Oh yeah, the special teleporters.
It's all the way in the Ashlands, but yeah.
Yeah, it's just a more convenient bronze uh brazier or something I figure.
was happy to find 3 infested mines nearby each other after looking far and wide... no cores or seals in any of them
That is rough, my condolences.
Lacking black cores is the absolute worst
can someone help me with yagluth
What kind of help? Help actually fighting him, or do you mean like preparation tips?
i mean come help his regen is making this take forever
How are you fighting him, out of curiosity?
i am such a mess with that arbalest... i can not hit anything if it is not as big as a queen 😛
I can't help actually fighting but I do want to say that silver weapons actually do a better job of hurting yagluth than blackmetal
im using black metal sword but mostly frozen arrows
i recomend frostner that is what i am using all the time 😄 sprit and blunt will get to him
I dont have enough silver for frostner rn cry
and he is pierce resist which does make arrows of any type a not so good choice
For Yagluth, cling to its butt (well, where it used to be anyway).
That way he can't hit you, but you can hit it. When he turns, just turn with him and hit that butt again. Works quite well.
Silver arrows might be better than frost for yagluth, and Silver is a relatively low demand metal, though I've never actually fought yagluth with bow and arrow
(it doesent matter if it is slash or blunt, he is neutral to both 😉 but he takes the spirit and frost which are also neutral)
why do some of my ashvine plants just disappear? they say they are healthy then they just, poof dont attach to the wall and disappear
maybe ill get my crystal battleaxe off the shelf then
Yeah frostner is a real good choice as he is neutral to the damage..as far as I recall.. he is weak to none?
to far from the wall??
no because then they would say " needs a wall"
Nope, he is a powerhouse, not weak to anything 😄
yeah then frostner it is... you can do silver sword, but i like frostner better and i do have that one anyways and a high club level to go with it 😄
this is working well. down to half his bar now
then i do not know 😦 I hope once i get them seeds I can make mine grow
